On this International Women's Day, college sports star Audi Crooks is using her platform to lift up and empower the women and young girls who look up to her. She's a sophomore at Iowa State University who has been making waves as a center for Iowa State Cyclones women’s basketball. In fact, she was just named a Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award Top 5 finalist by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, which honors the top centers in Division I women’s college basketball.
Leading the Big 12 in scoring this season, Audi is part of “Life in US Mode” from UScellular — raising awareness about just how toxic online negativity can be and offering an example for how to embrace positivity. She recently took to her following of more than 63,000 people on Instagram to open up about her own experiences navigating the often harmful scrutiny she’s received on social media as a student athlete, a public figure, and just being a young woman online. Audi joined the campaign to bring attention to the challenging minefield of social media, supporting mental health of fellow female athletes, and promote ways to set healthier digital habits.
Audi sat down with Brian to share her story and offer some words of advice on this International Women’s Day.
