Super stoked about this. Im the 1st person ever to win all 3 distances. Marathon, 15 miler and 5k. Ill hang my hat on that achievement. Anyway this year obviously I did the 15 miler. Felt really good. Was below 50° before the start. So got some medical gloves from the fireman. Started off little slow as I warmed up. Stayed in 2nd for 1st 3ish miles. Had to pee so once we gapped feild i stopped snd peed then took off. Like 4 mile i finally decided take over lead since was warmed up finally. From there just tried run smoothly. Never redlined but dod push pace and made sure to stay under 7 min pace, the mile si was over ot because it was a aodstatipn mile and i had to walk some as i put powder in bottle. Goal was to finish in 1:45 or less sp accomplished that on top of winning the race. Do have some blisters on achielies to take care of. Wore my old endorphins pros so thats why, kept my good ones for actual roads. So yea happy with how it went. Win #10 of the year i believe.

(00:02):
Travisky Trailathon 15 Miller finished first overall in an
hour, 43 minutes, 25 seconds. So that was a 649 pace overall
because it was, we'll say my watch had 15.19 miles.
So yeah, so a little bit longer, but not a big deal.

(00:29):
Want to say this right off the bat, glad I went today because I
am now the first person ever to win all three distances.
The marathon, the 5K and the 15 Mallard.
This race has only been going onfor maybe five years now.
I won the 5K first couple years ago, last year the marathon,

(00:52):
this year I did the 15 round outthe trifecta.
So it's one of those little pretty cool accomplishments to
say I did and achieved and hang my hat on, you know, this was, I
didn't want to say it was my goal race of the fall, but it
sort of was just because of thataspect.
I really wanted to be the first person that went all three just

(01:17):
to say I did it, you know, just just something different because
most people never think about things like that and being local
to the trails, being able to saythat in general, just something
cool. See, this was one of the races,
I would say the race this fall that I actually wanted to win

(01:38):
the Triad. Just hoping I'd be in shape
enough to do it monthly. I am.
So in the morning you park at Doom and Dam, which is the
finish line, and then you get busted the start line in Aniglo.
We started like right behind thefire hall where the rail trail

(02:02):
starts. You know, because you've got to
run through the parking lot. If you're doing the whole
mayor's loving, you're start on the rail trail.
Park after the parking lot for the 15 Miller.
And I'll tell you what, it was definitely cold this morning.
It wasn't even 50° this morning when we started and it was
brisk. Luckily they had dropped back so

(02:24):
I could keep my hoodie and extrashorts on on the bus ride up and
even up to the last couple minutes before we started the
race. Otherwise I would have been rose
and my performance would have sucked.
Actually my buddy Brian, I got him to give me some medical
gloves which is the environment of so my hands I can keep my

(02:49):
hands warm for the first couple miles until I got bored.
So it was a little smart thing for me to do think about and it
didn't seem to work because thenI know my hands got sweaty after
a couple of hours after I got warmed up.
I don't know, I got some pretty good sleep last night, almost

(03:10):
got six hours, which is a huge plus.
It's only like a 40 minute driveto this finish line, so it's not
really that far. So again, I'm pretty close to
the chart. I'm familiar with it, so I know
what to expect. I did wear my old and Norfolk
Pro quarters. I think in the four maybe there

(03:32):
were threes. Either way, they're a little
beat up and they're really worn out.
The carbon plate isn't as functional as it used to be, but
I don't wonder where My good ones, my Norfolk pro, my good
and Norfolk quarters because it's a rail trail and some of
the gravelly little sections like where the washouts happen.

(03:53):
I really didn't want to get themtore off too much.
So that's why I went with the old ones.
But I knew it was going to suck just because it was going to
make me run a little bit harder than my newer ones. 250 a pop.
Sort of have to pick your battles.
I did get blisters in the back of my Achilles because of it.

(04:18):
So it's one of those things you have to weigh, save money or get
the blisters. And I chose the blisters today.
Let's see. Yeah, this morning, actually, my
toaster pastries, I had my carnation breakfast, took my

(04:40):
beet and powder, my normal vitamins.
So I've been eating a lot more food before races.
And it seems like it's helping starting off with like a fuller
stomach with more, you know, carbs and protein, staying ahead
of nutrition, just falling behind and trying to catch up.
So pretty good strategy working out, I guess.

(05:00):
So were my calf sleeves, my ISO chilled shorts, my neon yellow
shirt, wore my normal hat, baseball type hat, my naked race
belt. I had one water and 9 oz water.
I had 8 drink hydration drink the other 9 oz bottle.

(05:27):
I didn't take an extra 1. I had a honey Stinger on me
which I'd never eat. I had the smell of salt which I
never used. What else did I have on?
Some wet wipes because I figuredI was going to probably crap
myself at some point. Didn't eat them at all.
I also wear my earbuds today instead of my headphones.

(05:52):
I didn't take my MP3 player. I don't know why really because
I usually wear my MP3 player with music to get myself a
better cadence. At least it seems to give me a
better cadence if I wear headphones with music.
I put on some motivational speeches, motive versity on

(06:16):
Spotify and that's what got me through the race.
Instead of listening to podcasts, I was listening to
podcast. I definitely run a lot slower,
so that's why I went with the motivational speeches.
You know, just keep my mindset, right?
I think it helped, you know, keeps you focused and the

(06:36):
overall good mindset. But even though I did have my
MP3 player on me and my drawbackbecause I was sort of teetering
on that and I had my bucket hat as well, but whatever did
stretch a little bit, took a little poop and it made a little
fire hole got ready. I didn't wet myself down today.

(07:00):
I was going to, but with that chill, I figured it would make
me too cold. I probably still could have, but
it was just one of those risk reward things that I wasn't
really sure. Let's see.

(07:23):
Yeah, started off a little slower.
I didn't jump out the gate, try to turn and burn.
So I just wanted to stay back, warm up a little bit and fully
get my body warmed and loosened up before I decided to take off
and push the pace at all. So it's actually in second,

(07:43):
right behind my buddy for about 3 miles.
I also had to pee. So I just stayed behind him for
a while and I figured I was going to peel off at some point,
pee once we gap the rest of the field.
And that's when that amount happened.
About mile three, there was likea little fence line, you know,

(08:07):
peed right by that. He got ahead of me by like, I
don't know, 1015 seconds after Ipeed, I felt so much better.
I was like, all right, game time, time for me to go.
So then I took off and caught upto him.
And then about four or four, I'dsay by about four, I was in the

(08:30):
league. The rest of the race, just using
that first few miles in that area and running the downhill
with that free speed, I figured just go a little bit harder,
push the pace going in. I at the very worst, I was
hoping for a 2 hour race. Realistically, I was shooting

(08:55):
for an hour 45. That was sort of my goal going
in. I really thought I could do an
hour 45. I thought an hour 45 would get
me the win. That's about a 7 minute pace
overall. I think that's exactly 7 minute
pace, Yeah 'cause 8 minutes would be two hours since 7's an

(09:18):
hour 45. So it's like you shoot for that.
You should be in good shape evenif you go a little bit over, you
know, an hour 48. But try your best to do an hour
45 or less. And I got an hour 4325 with that
extra 2/10 out and on. So knock another 30 to a minute
off easily. So very happy with that pace.

(09:43):
Like I said, 649, and I wasn't really redlining at all.
Well, I didn't redline at all during the whole race, so I
can't complain. I felt good the whole race,
stayed locked in and focused thewhole race.
So yeah, I think it was one of my stronger mental and physical

(10:05):
performances overall. Yeah, so after I got in the
first, I was just trying to gap and see how I can do the rest of
the race. So yeah, so I came into the

(10:25):
Antiglou. I just splashed water on me and
the Antiglou and took off. Did that little V thing.
They hit the CNI extension and then after that Little B in
Bentonville, it's basically uphill for the next 8 to 9
miles. Nothing dramatic or drastic,

(10:52):
whatever the words you want to use.
But it's a nice steady incline. So I think I've got 410 feet of
gain and descent for the whole race.
So you're gaining all that ascent the last 8 miles of the
race. So it can be a little bit taxing

(11:12):
because it's just steady the whole time and there's no real
give or break or anything like downhill.
So you can't get a little musclefatigue if you don't pay
attention or know what's coming. And once we hit the CNI, I just

(11:35):
kept pushing. I had to push a little bit
harder, give a little bit more effort on the CNI again, one,
because we're going uphill, and two, you know, 7-8 miles into
the race, you get a little tired.
So yeah, I did have to increase the effort a little bit because
of those two things. I just kept pushing and pushing.

(11:58):
Took a picture of the quarry shack.
I had a little bit of gas here and there, one way to poop
myself. I peed again.
That bridge that we go under before Victoria, Miller Gate,

(12:22):
Station Road, whatever, peed right there, like for the bridge
before I went under it. So I did stiffen my legs up a
little bit there, but I quickly recovered.
So I knew the 8th station was coming, so I wanted to pee
before that. And then at the 8th station, I
opened up a bottle of water, filled my Finnade back up with

(12:53):
water, and it splashed the rest of the bottle over the top of my
head just to get myself a littlebit wet and cooled down a lot
more. It wasn't really running hot,
but I know it was getting hotter.
I was getting a little bit dry, so I needed to get that moisture
on me. And then as I took off from the

(13:14):
aid station, I had to fill around in my pocket to get my
fit aid packet out because I actually only dumped half of it
in the bottle before the start of the race because it's like a
16 to 18 oz liquid thing and I only had 9.
So I only tried to dump half it.That was a disaster because as
I'm trying to run and feel it really wasn't working out too

(13:38):
well. So actually as I pulled it out
of my well, actually before the aid station, as I was pulling it
out, I just dumped most of what was left in the bottle on my
shorts because the top popped off.
But had to slow down, stop and actually pour the powder into
the bottle after the aid stationgot some on my hand.

(14:00):
So I was licking off my hand on my watch just so I'd lose all
those minerals, vitamins that are in it.
Yeah. So it was a little messy
situation. Normally it wouldn't be a big of
an issue, but I filled the bottle up too far and I was

(14:21):
trying to dump like an already ripped half packet.
So it was kind of a little moistat the top.
You ever get those packets? You know what I'm talking about.
So it wasn't the easiest thing to open her, reopen slash put
in. Then I took off from there.
I did try to drink, you know, here, there like every mile and

(14:47):
a half, two miles range. I don't think I took the first
step until like 4 because I knewBig Nail was coming up.
Yeah, So I pushed hard, kept running.

(15:09):
I know as we were coming up on the Doom and Dam part, like
where you have V off or it's AV intersection, Y intersection,
whatever you want to call it. I was thinking to myself because
I knew where the Y was. I was like, why is there an
arrow or sign pointing us to go to the direction of the Doom and

(15:32):
Dam? I know there's a Doom and Dam
sign, but if you don't actually know to take that because it is
a little bit dirtier trail, I guess because you it looks like
you want to keep going on the normal rail trail, rail trail
surface. But the Y for the doom and dam
looks like dirty. It's like dirt, but it's

(15:54):
actually solider than the actualrail trail.
It's actually a little bit slickto help.
I don't know, maybe like mossy or whatever the case may be, how
solid the dirt is. I was thinking I was like, why
is there a sign there to tell people they don't know?
This is the actual way to go because I'm coming up to it.

(16:19):
I'm like, huh, this is weird. And then as I got up to the Yi
was looking, I was like, oh, it's because the sign fell over
in the grip like from the like agrassier part.
I was like, so I picked, I had astalk real quick and I put it up
because people are going to knowthey're going to like where it
was in that Y People would have just ran past it, probably kept

(16:41):
yelling on the CNI extension to take it between the damn part.
So yeah, I did my good deed for the day.
I told Paul about it. I was like, I did my good deed
because I didn't want anybody going the wrong way because then

(17:02):
you're looking for people, people getting hurt, which, you
know, ruins a reputation for therace or something like that
happens. Yeah.
Then we hit hit the gravel part in that section.

(17:24):
Still felt good. I had to put a little bit more
forth of an effort on that Newman Dam extension just
because of the way the trail is and the surface of it.
There is some little bit of a gravel part, there's a little
rated bridge and then you hit maybe I want to call it a half
mile to 7/10 range of like single track dirt.

(17:52):
There's a little, there's a couple of roofs here and there,
but nothing horrible. But it's, you know, it does slow
you down a little bit just because you're going like side
to side a little UPS and hips. Just have to watch your hunters
in there. I know I say a couple forge

(18:15):
arrows. It says hunter in area because
today was actually the first dayof archery.
There was some bikers on that trail.
There was people on all sectionsof the trails today like bikers.
There's probably, I don't know, 2025, only a couple people
walking dogs this morning, one guy on CNI, one up at Twin

(18:37):
Rocks. There's a couple of bikers
scattered throughout, a couple of bikers on the Newman Dam
park. So I had to push a little bit
harder in the Newman Dam single track and once I got to that 8
station there that the 5K uses as well, I took 2 waters real

(18:59):
quick. Just dumped them all myself just
to re moisten myself because I had enough liquid on me.
And I was, I don't want to say Iwas falling behind on time, but
I know it was going to be close because I wasn't sure how long
the race was going to be over 15.
I know it's a little over 15, but I wasn't sure if it was like

(19:22):
15 1/2 or 15.8 or if it was as close to 15.
So it's like it's going to be tight.
So I'm trying to push and push over the Times Now.
I guess I did it, obviously, butI just knew it was going to be
closer than I hoped to one point.

(19:43):
I think I was 3 minutes, yeah, about 3 minutes under maybe 3
1/2 because I was looking at every mile, figured out my
times. So I didn't lose a little bit,

(20:05):
but that's more or less because of the the extra .2 than
anything. And my worst 2 miles were, I
mean the only like 2 miles that I had that were bad or like in
the sevens were at that VictoriaMiller 8 station.

(20:28):
I just had to stop there real quick and then you hit like 10
miles there. Well, I might have peed, I might
have hit 10 when I was peeing, but either way, that 8 station
then pretty sure I hit 10 at the8 station and then as I was
walking and filled my bottle, that's what cost me to be in the
7th. Otherwise I would have been in

(20:49):
sixes the whole entire race. So I don't even really count
that as being over into the 7th just because I knew what
happened there. It wasn't like my pace slipped
because I got tired or I was just running slower.
It was just because I had an 8 station and then I had to fill
my ball to walk. So that's how I could eat at me

(21:12):
like it normally would. Then yeah, I did pass a couple
of the five pairs, probably like15 to 20 of them, the walkers or
whatever. They seem to be in good spirits.
Then came into the park and I'm turning it on, looking at my

(21:33):
watch. I looked at my watch, basically
that last mile and a half, trying to do math and see what I
can do. I thought I had it, but I wasn't
really sure until I actually crossed the finish line.
I was definitely drenched at thefinish line.
I think it's because of the lasttwo waters I dumped on myself

(21:55):
more than sweat or anything, butI still had some jeans left in
my legs when I finished. I thought about going back out
and getting my 20 ends of the day, but there's blisters in the
back of my Achilles. I was like, you can't really do
them in these shoes, so you needto switch them out before you
go. I didn't have any other ones, so

(22:16):
I just sat around and talked to the awards and watched the
marathoners come in. Than that it turned out to be a
beautiful day. It's like 75° right now.
Sun's out. So it was a good 2530°
temperature swing between the start of the race and the end of

(22:38):
the race. I'm glad I only did the 15
because it definitely got hot bythe time I finished and I
wouldn't have been out there foranother 11 miles.
Though they did start an hour earlier.
We were at 9:00, they were at 8:00.

(22:59):
So I would have had theoretically, you know, I might
have been out there for another 15 minutes, 20 minutes after I
finished, you know, 9:00. But still, I guess that's about

(23:25):
itch. But they still feel good, money
still feels good. Just need a little bit of a nap
because I need the refuel to getdrained because I haven't
refueled yet. So yeah, 649 for 15 miles, take

(23:47):
it. That's almost a marathon pace
for me. Still feel good afterwards.
Can't complain. In two weeks in a row, taking
home wins at 450K and then at 15mile north.
I mean, that's awesome. So I guess that's my race recap

(24:11):
for today and I wish I had all the awards on me right now.
But I did get a picture of this year's award, but I also took
out the last two. Well, but I took out the
marathon and the 5K as well to get a picture with them because
I thought that'd be kind of cool.

(24:32):
Then they got a picture with me with the like the couch, the
potato 5K race type thing that they knew whatever, it's a nice
race. Go Sound True is in great shape
today and there's some people complained that it's in rough
shape, but I think it's really good shape.
It's better than most rail trails right now so the leaves

(24:58):
look beautiful. Nice fall color changes.
You can't complain about anything.
