Speaker 1 (00:02):
Coming up on today's show, US mummy blogger Ruby Frankie
faces caught after being charged with six counts of aggravated
child abuse, Roxy Jusenko, Singapore storage issues, the abusive message
Ash Binds copped from a skincare brand, and why the
Hembros reality show never went to air. Hello, and welcome

(00:23):
to Outspoken. It's your dose of the hottest influencer and
pop culture news twice a week. I'm Sophie Torbert and
I have had a patient in my care for the
past twenty four hours. It's been my fiance because yesterday
he got his wisdom teeth taken out, and this was
a big deal for him. It was actually quite a
serious operation because he had impacted wisdom teeth they were

(00:43):
growing in the wrong direction.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I think we were.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
All interested to see how Brandon actually reacted when he
was coming out of the anesthesia.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, yeah, because he.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Doesn't drink, so he hates being out of control. And
it was quite funny because the nurses told him that
he was very, very talkative, and he apparently put in
an electric wheelchair and he pretended to toot at all
of the nurses and told them he was going to
run them over. He then also proceeded to ask them
if they were going to try and clone him from

(01:11):
his wisdom teeth, so it was a bit of an
embarrassing moment for him. I wish the nurses had captured
that on camera, but I know they're really funny about
filming patients when they've just come out. I was explicitly
told by him under no circumstances was I to film him.
He will not like me mentioning this on the podcast either,
But yeah, I have made so much jelly. I feel
like her mom.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I've got all these vats of jelly in the fridge.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
He's not allowed to have anything that's warm for the
next couple of days, and he's taking it very seriously.
So you've got vats of jelly for Brandon and bagfuls of.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Carrots for yourself. Why do I have the carts?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
You were telling me that you have been seeing the
latest TikTok trend where everyone is eating three carrots a
day to try and get this natural ten. It's everywhere,
and I thought, oh, that's a load of shit. But
then I saw a dietitian saying, actually it's true. Well,
it's actually down to something called Beta carroten and was TikToker.
Isabelle Lux who got everyone onto this trend. She shared
a video that has over three million views and spoke

(02:06):
about how she eats three carrots a day. She said
it wasn't actually to initially get a ten though. She
was eating up to ten carrots a day just because
she liked carrots, and.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
It was like a side effect.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
However, she had to go to the doctor and the
doctor's like, you need to cut it down to three.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Because it's making you sick.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
See this happened at my old work.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
A girl actually did the same thing.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
She ate so many carrots and everyone was like, does
she have jaundice? Yeah, you actually can start to look
a strange shade of orange. Look, this would have saved
me a lot of money on fake tan. I'm just
putting it out there. Maybe I've got to beat the
guinea pig. Maybe I tried two a day? Or is
that I actually saw beck Lomas doing it. She cracked
me up, and she hates carrots. I love carrots. I
love who to carrot with hamas. I think this could

(02:45):
work quite well. Why did you?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Of course that meant on me? I told you I
didn't want the man what I didn't believe you? How
could you not believe me?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
But who's going to turn down a junior men.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
We finally know why the Hembro's reality show never went
to air, and it's quite crazy if there has been
so much hype around this show since twenty eighteen. That
was when rumors first started circulating that they were going
to have their own show. Yeah, and everyone was saying
that it was going to be like the Australian Kardashians and
the next big thing, But all of a sudden, it
just went quiet. I think ever since Tammy was stretched

(03:16):
out of Kylie Jenna's twenty first birthday party, the media
have been making comparisons between the two families. I think
it's because they're large families, there's half siblings involved, and
there's also a lot of drama always surrounding them. So
I think this is why everyone thought this would be
such an epic show. And there was confirmation that this
show was filming in early twenty twenty one, so a

(03:37):
number of the sisters shared behind the scenes snaps of
the camera crews in their houses, and Tammy's boyfriend at
the time, Matt Paul, even shared a photo so it
was clear he was supposed to be in this show. Yeah,
and I remember that everyone was waiting to see Tammy
and Matt's proposal because it appeared that had been filmed,
and when they broke up, that was when I was like, oh,
we're never ever going to see any flage. Well, this week,

(03:59):
Emily revealed that they actually pulled the pin on the
project after seeing how they were portrayed in the show.
Here's what Emily said.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Refilmed a pilot with the network. I won't say just
in case it's in our agreement for not to mention
who was with but they just made us look like,
oh my god, it just looks so bad, like just
fake kind of drama. So yeah, we did not go
ahead with that. I feel like my family we have

(04:29):
authentic drama and problems that are really relatable, and I
don't know, I don't feel like we needed the fake
kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Emily didn't name the network or the production company, but
I would love to know who was behind it and
whether they specialize in Australian reality TV, because this is
something I've been feeling for a while about local reality TV.
It is always so over the top dramatized and I
just feel like it has an amateur feeling to it
and crap casting. In this case, they had such great

(05:00):
talent to work with and so many genuine storylines that
were happening. And I wonder if they tried to emulate
the old school Keeping Up with the Kardashians, where they
had some of those fake storylines, and we've seen with
the New Kardashians how it's been shot. It's more of
that doco style and they're able to follow real parts
of their life. I'm also surprised that they were able
to say after they filmed it or nut, we don't

(05:22):
want to have it, and within the contract it must
have stipulated that they needed final approval. I get where
you're coming from, but I do want to stick up
for Australian reality TV because there are some great shows.
I'm thinking Maths, Luks, Listing Housewives. They are all top
quality Australian productions. Maybe it's just the production company that
got it wrong this time. Yeah, I just think that

(05:43):
they didn't need to manufacture drama in this case. There
was so much happening. I would have really loved to
also see whether Reese Hawkins was on the scene and
whether he would have been involved in the show, because
we've seen him pop up at a couple of the
kid's birthday parties and things seem to be on better
terms with Tammy and Reese. So I'm just so disappointed.
I feel like this production company or network has ruined

(06:03):
it for us. You wonder how the Hembrose actually came
across on camera, because yes, they're great on social media,
but maybe when the camera crews came in, it just
didn't feel real. Yeah, it seems like there were plenty
of arguments that the camera crews could have captured because
in a Q and A, Emily opened up about a
fight that she had with Tammy and Amy. So there
was a lot of speculation because it looked like Emily

(06:26):
stopped following them. But they think we covered this on
our podcast the time. Yeah, but the reality was that
they actually blocked her.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Here's what she said.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I am a realist with you guys.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
I don't mind sharing all of the details or the
nitty gritty. So I didn't actually unfollow them. Tammy blocked me,
and when you block someone, you automatically unfollow them. We
just had a fight, had a fight with Amy and Tammy,
and we're pretty dramatic as sisters. I don't know that

(07:00):
dramatic to block someone on Instagram. I feel like that's
really childish, but you gotta do what you got to do.
But we've all met up and re following each other.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
This is just so relatable because we've all been in
a situation where we've blocked each other.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Emily says that it's childish, but I actually think it's
just part of being sisters sometimes in arguments. I have
been so furious with the two of you that the
only way I think I can show you how upset
and angry I am is by blocking you out of
every aspect of my life online. From being on the
receiving end of a block from both of you, I've
never actually blocked either of you. It pisces me off

(07:38):
because you know that the person is going to have
to re add you, and then you miss out on
all those memories, like, h you've been friends for fifty years. Well,
actually so, I remember when you blocked us. I think
it was this year, and it was so infuriating because
you couldn't even we couldn't.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Even message you. On and she was just kicked out
of all.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Of our group chats, so I had to add her
back in to be fair. I said that we've all
been there, but I don't think I've ever blocked either
of you. I think it's always been initiated by Sophie.
I think I think there's been the unfriend from you. Yeah,
you've unfriends you and I still have our friendship from
fifteen years. Actually, the block is awful because you can't
even search the person.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
It's so infuriating. You're like, fuck you. Yeah, but that's
the thing.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
It clearly works because did part of you feel upset?

Speaker 2 (08:21):
No, I was just pissed.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I was infuriated more. I just thought I agree with Emily.
I just thought it was extremely immature of you. All right, well,
let's move things on quickly before there is an argument. Now.
To wrap up our discussion on the Hembros, I wanted
to touch on the fact that Tammy and Love Island's
Matt have been spotted together a second time. So it
comes after those secret hotel snaps which were taken by

(08:43):
a random Now things appear to be getting serious because
Matt actually met Tammy's family at a beauty event, and
the event in question was for Skin Australia, which is
Emily and Amy's brand, and the vision was taken by
a guest at the event who happened to catch Tammy
leading Matt around the show room. Well, Matt was actually
asked about Tammy Hembro at his live podcast recording and

(09:04):
influence updates shared all about it online. So basically he
and his co host were playing say it or Shot it,
and he was asked about Tammy and he chose to
take a shot rather than talk about it. I was quite
telling it. Yeah. He also did mention he'd been away
on a holiday seemingly with Tammy. Yeah, on the Gold Coast.
So it's about time that I begin the cleanup before
we move out of our house and to Singapore. Roxy

(09:27):
j Zanko has given us an insight into what she
calls the downsides of Singapore living. So Roxy and her
family relocated from Sydney to Singapore in August for a
husband's work, and despite moving into a Singaporean property that
is reportedly costing forty five thousand dollars a month, it
appears the storage is nonexistent.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Geez, I'd be pretty pissed.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Off if there wasn't enough storage and I was paying
that amount of money, I don't even know what you'd
get for forty five thousand dollars a month. She did
recently sell her mansion in Sydney for was it fifteen
MILLI yeah, well it would be a bit of a
step down if you're used to a fifteen million dollar mansion. Now.
Roxy did share a bit of a hack of how
she is overcoming this storage problem. So she showed that

(10:09):
she is keeping her Fiji water bottles and Prime hydration
drinks neatly stored away inside two ovens. She told her
followers she's been utilizing any space she can find to
put things and wrote welcome to Singapore Living. She continued sarcastically,
writing it's lucky she has two ovens, otherwise they would
have gone thirsty, and that's why she's been mia from cooking.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
There is a.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
TikTok trend going around talking about if you grew up
rich or poor, and apparently one of the signs that
you grew up Paul was that you stored stuff in
your oven, mainly all of the oven trays.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Look, I don't think that is the case in this situation. Clearly.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
It's funny you say that. I don't mean to segue
into it. But didn't Dale hide your engagement ring in
his mum's oven.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Before he proposed?

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yeah, well, she obviously wasn't doing heaps of cooking in
that oven, and otherwise it might have ended in disaster.
But I suppose it was quite clever because most robbers
aren't really going to go look in your oven, just
to note we don't care anything in our other these days, we.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Don't keep jewelry or any things. Is that a flex? See?
I know it's definitely not a flex.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
I thought you were going to say that a sign
that someone is wealthy is them drinking Fiji water, because
I feel like that is the most expensive bottled water.
As a teenager, I just wanted a Fiji water bottle
so much, and you would just hang onto these tatty
old bottles, which I mean, again, is good for sustainability
right now. It's kind of like the tatty old bags
for Pajj's, like the soup prey bag. I was going

(11:27):
to say JJ's, but that was actually quite out. I
remember having this tatty old JJ's bag. I just wanted
a soup prey bag or a bill of bong bag.
Oh yes, sports girl, I think that was the elite bag.
As a side note, I do find it amusing that
Roxy is storing the Prime drinks which were made by
Logan Paul for our kids, because from what I've heard
on the street, those are the coolest drinks ever for

(11:48):
kids of primary school age to bring to school. Isn't
that just like her to have them on tap for
the kids. I think they were cool a couple of
months ago because you couldn't get your hands on them,
but now they're like two dollars fifty at wor worse
than cold.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I did see them in the bug And can you
imagine if this becomes a trend, Like you know, when
one person sees someone rich doing something, everyone just starts
keeping their water in there oven.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Now, despite the lack of storage, Singapore does seem to
have other perks for Roxy, and one of them is
that she really enjoys no one knowing her, So she said,
in Singapore, it is a matter of Roxy who No
one knows me here, no one has any preconceived ideas
of who or what I am, and no one has
any expectations and best of all, no one actually cares.
Now do we think she actually means that, because I

(12:30):
have a feeling that Roxy quite likes people knowing who
she is. Well, I think it would be the best
of both worlds for someone because she still has that
fame back home and that notoriety.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
She's probably still got.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Deals coming in due to her large Instagram following in
business deals, but she can roam the streets without having
the annoyance of anyone coming up to No pooh.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Joggers around exactly.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I don't know if Roxy just saying he would be
at the level of fame where she wouldn't be able
to walk around Sydney.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Like people we know who she is.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, but people also would have their phones up ready
to take potos of shit that she's doing. You've got
to remember as well, her office was targeted a number
of times, so I think she's actually bigger than you realize.
I got the most abusive DM on Instagram from an
actual brand, so I thought, let's talk about it. Fitness
influencer and business owner as She Binds has revealed she

(13:18):
copped an abusive DM from a brand after she chose
not to post about their product, so as she explained
that a skincare company sent out a PR package to
her with a note that read, Hey, Ash, we hope
you love our skincare. Here's a discount code. Please post
on your stories minimum five frames. Also onto your Snapchat.
The following week, you can post a photo onto your

(13:39):
feed holding the products, telling your audience how much you
love them, with the discount code. To end the caption
question mark thanks can't wait to see your posts.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Pretty big ass.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
I cannot believe that in this day and age, a
brand would send out a cold product in the mail
to a huge influence like Ashy Binds and then spell
out all the things that they wanted, the absolute arrogance
to include directions. I'm sorry you take a risk as
a brand when you're sending out a gifted product to
an influencer. They have no responsibility to the brand to

(14:11):
post this. They haven't even agreed to accept it in
most situations, especially when a sponsored posts from Ash would
probably cost.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Thousands of dollars.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
I just found the message really rude and bossy as well.
Anyone that deals with influencers knows that an influencer isn't
going to respond when you tell them they have to
do all of this stuff for free. If this brand
knew about influencer marketing, they would have just attached a
note that said, hey, we hope you like our product,
and had they're at whatever like you wouldn't say, oh,
tag it now. As she chose to respond to this

(14:41):
on TikTok, but she didn't name the skincare brand, but
explained when she didn't post, she was hit with a
DM from the brand saying how disgusted they were with
her and that they were relying on her to make
sales for them that week. They finished by saying, as
she shouldn't be accepting gifting if she's not going to post,
share and tag.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
See.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
This actually pissed me off, And I was really impressed
with how Ash responded to this because if it had
been me, I would have been tempted to put this
brand on blast because they were very rude to her.
She didn't ask for the package to be sent to her.
It would be different if the brand had contacted her
and said would you like to try our product and
written up a contract saying this is what we expect

(15:21):
from you, and she'd signed it. I would assume they're
quite a small brand, though, if they're actually expecting such
a big name influencer to do all of this for free.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
I thought it was really.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Clever because instead of blowing up about it, she used
it as an opportunity to educate her followers about marketing.
So she explained that she's had her business for fifteen
years with her husband, and she runs two businesses called
Hideaway and Baseline, and that she's also worked as an influencer.
So if she had two different perspectives to bring to
the argument, and she wanted people to understand both ends

(15:49):
of the scale, so she showed the influencer side and
the business side. I haven't actually heard her talk about
business before, and I was really impressed. She came across
as very educated and well measured, and you can see
why her brands have been a big success. Yeah. Well,
one of the biggest points she brought up about this
from an influencer perspective is this brand didn't even do
their research into Ashi, So, as she said, it is

(16:12):
quite clear that for a number of years she's worked
with a particular skincare brand which she loves, and she
has a partnership with that brand. So why would she
then post about another skincare brand for free, or just
why would she simply start a new skincare regime when
she's happy with one she's already doing. It does sound
like she did test the skincare out and said she
wasn't impressed with it either, So brands do have to

(16:34):
realize that if you do send your product to an
influencer and they don't like it, and there's not a
brand deal there, then they are well within their rights
to either say that they don't like it or just
not post about it. And you prefer an influencer not
to post about it rather than give a negative review,
and one influencer's posting grid posts with a product like
that they got for free. Oh I just love this
so much. Well, that's the other thing she pointed out.

(16:56):
She said that she receives about twenty gifts from prcus companies,
and who has the time or the energy to post
about all of them, and also who wants to put
that content out to their followers, because followers need a
balance of real, genuine, engaging content and then a few ads. Yeah,
I agree, And it was interesting to hear as she

(17:17):
talk about how she balances that on her own Instagram channel,
and I do think that this company is very backwards
in thinking that an influencer would just post because they
got something for free. And I think it shows how
far influencer marketing has come because it is a real business.
It takes a lot of time to shoot content correctly
and also to then edit it up and put it

(17:39):
on your feed amongst the other content you're creating organically. Well,
it was interesting because she then also gave the business
perspective where she said, it is disheartening because a lot
of businesses spend heaps of money sending out pr PACs
sometimes to receive no cut through. But as a business,
you've just got to take that risk. And she explained
that she sent out Hideaway to a Gold Coast influencer

(18:01):
who ended up using it, but they didn't tag her.
They just ended up using it and get ready with
Me video, And she said that that was a more
organic way to actually get engagement because a few people
were like, where's that from. It's a bit like when
Anna Paul shared that brand you spoke about last week
and it got what thirty five thousand in sales.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
You just it's a risk that you take as a.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Brand lovely, that lovely.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
After over a decade together, UK influencers Zoela and Alfie
Days are engaged now. The Internet went into absolute meltdown
over their announcement. On Instagram, Zoela shared a black and
white video of the couple hugging before she turned around
and ran towards the camera, flashing her engagement ring. Now,
the ring is absolutely stunning. It's an overcut diamond. What

(18:45):
did you guys think of it? I loved the ring,
but to be completely honest, I thought these two were
already engaged. Yeah. I think that was the general consensus
from Australian fans because they do have a two year
old together, she has another baby on the way. They've
been to for a decade, so I think everyone just thought, oh, yeah,
there's been a wedding at some point. But it did
send a lot of UK fans into a spin because

(19:07):
there are so many people who are heavily invested in
this relationship. It's wild to think that Zoela and Alfi
just started off as close friends and they'd often appear
in each other's YouTube videos. And it's quite funny because
after a lot of speculation, they finally confirmed they were
dating in twenty thirteen because their friend Jim Chapman, who
has a YouTube he accidentally outed them by sharing a

(19:30):
snap of them kissing in the background of one of
his vlogs. That doesn't sound like a mistake though, that
sounds like really old school, like fadeuber scandal. Someone actually
wrote under the engagement announcement, I'm surprised Jim hasn't already
shared something about this now. The couple's comments section was
flooded with its static fans. One wrote, Zoe and Alfie
getting married. Oh my god, I love that woman like

(19:51):
a mother. Another twelve year old me is screaming, and
a third joke that their wedding is going to be
more UK royalty than the actual royal family. Another agreed,
saying that their wedding should be televised and they should
go down in a carriage on Brighton Promenade. I love
this reference because they have a mega mansion in Brighton together,
and they are worth millions of dollars, so they could

(20:12):
do the little wave off the balcony.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Maybe.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Yeah, I think it would be a really nice seaside
sort of wedding for them. They'd bring a lot to
the area. Sou from biker also lives in Brighton, so
there must be a few top UK influences, got it.
I've got an unpopular opinion. I tried to get into
Zoela's Vlogmas last year.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
I couldn't get through it.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
They went for about an hour and it was just
so mind numbing. But then again, I never watched her
Vlogmas back in the day.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
It might have been better.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
I have it used to be good. I have tried
to get back into it, but it's just not the same. Like,
I love watching a long form YouTube video, but it
bored me to tears. You can't be having you can't
be seeing someone decorate their Christmas tree for like an hour,
or she's got ten different Christmas trees and ten different rooms,
so it.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Got a little bit repetitive.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
A lot of fans have been asking why did it
take so long for Alfie to actually propose. Yeah, I
have seen this question a lot, and I think it's
down to the fact that they wanted to have their
kids before getting married, and they also want their kids to.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Be in the wedding.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
So with Zoela pregnant, she did announce her pregnance in July.
We probably won't see this wedding for a while, which
is disappointing be a couple of years in the making, surely.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Because of the interesting assurance today from public and members
of media, We've had some technical difficulties.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Before we get into the next segment, we want to
issue a trigger warning as we do touch on issues
surrounding child abuse. US YouTuber Ruby Frankie has been formally
charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse. The Mormon
mother of six, who ran family vlogging channel eight Passengers,
was arrested alongside her business partner, Jody hildebrand I. Found guilty,

(21:47):
both women face up to fifteen years in prison and
a fine of up to ten thousand dollars. Before we
get into the details, Cake, can you tell us more
about Ruby Frankie. Well, I have been seeing her pop
up on my TikTok feed for a while now, and
it appears people have been concerned about her behavior for
the last couple of years. So Ruby launched her family
vlogging channel eight Passengers on YouTube back in twenty fifteen,

(22:10):
and at the height of.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
His popularity, it attracted over two million viewers.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
So up until this year, she had been sharing her
life as a Mormon mother of six children with her
husband Kevin Now. The channel was taken down earlier this
year after Ruby was criticized over her strict parenting. Now
vision of Ruby's questionable parenting tactics are still available on
TikTok and include the mother threatening to take her children's
meals away. Just give you an idea of the type

(22:38):
of content she was sharing.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Let's throw to a collection of clips.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Eve is responsible for making her lunches in the morning,
and she actually told me she did pack a lunch.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
So the natural outcome is she's just going to need
to be hungry.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
And hopefully, hopefully nobody gives her food, and nobody stepped
in and gives her a lunch. We got everything that
comes into this house belongs.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
To her, belongs to me because I get anything.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
We all go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
You know, I don't have any friends.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah, I cannot wait to hug them and just smell
them into wol them.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
What surprised me about some of the clips was how
professionally filmed some of them appeared to be. It almost
looked like these were really controversial grabs taken from Doctor
Phil or one of those kind of shows. The thing
that stuck out to me was how did someone not
sound the alarm earlier? Because it was really upsetting to watch.
It almost came across as a joke because you almost

(23:51):
wouldn't believe that someone would be so poor to their
children and discipline them in that way.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
That's the thing.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
People have been sharing their concerns so much though that
her channel actually did get taken down, But I don't
think anyone was expecting anything this bad. So she was
arrested after her twelve year old son escaped out of
a window and ran to a neighbour's house asking for
food and water. So the neighbor ended up calling the
police after noticing duct tape around the child's ankles and wrists.

(24:18):
A police officer on scene later said that the child
looked severely malnourished and had sustained deep lacerations from being
tied up with rope. Police then went on to search
the home and discovered Ruby's ten year old daughter in
a similar condition. Both children ended up having to be
treated at hospital for mount nourishment, while the remaining two

(24:38):
children have been taken into care. She does have six children, however,
the two older ones are no longer.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Living with her.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Now a second person has also been charged alongside Ruby,
but it's not her husband but instead her business partner,
and that person's name is Jodie Hildebrand and she was
also charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse. Now
Ruby and her four year young children were staying at
Jody's house in Ivan at the time of the arrest.
This relationship between Ruby and Jody is much talked about online. Now,

(25:09):
Ruby began collaborating with Jody's business called Connections, which is
a mental health counseling service. However, the service has been
previously criticized for its parenting advice, which includes shunning those
who don't share your values and shame based learning. It
has been referred to as a cult before as well.
It's really disturbing because audio from the neighbour's nine to

(25:31):
one one call has been made public and in it
you can hear the neighbor, who sounds like a middle
aged man, sobbing as he asked the boy about what happens,
and the boy relays the information. Now, sadly, the boy
said that what happened was his own fault, and he
confirmed his siblings were still in Jody's house, but they
were okay, pretty hard to listen to this audio, particularly

(25:53):
when the neighbor here is Jody's name mentioned and said
she's a bad lady. We didn't realize how bad. And
it appears the neighbors were very aware that something wasn't
quite right with Ruby and Jodi, because NBC reported that
the neighbors collectively breathed a sigh of relief as they
thought they were going to come out of the house
with body bags.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
It is really disturbing.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Yeah, and a lot of people have been asking what's
going on with Ruby's husband, Kevin, because he hasn't been arrested,
and it's come out that the couple have actually been
separated for the last thirteen months. So it's Kevin's attorney
said in a podcast interview, I love that he's just
giving out podcast interviews. Well, it probably has to because
he's now having to clear his name over all of
this too. Yeah. Well, his attorney said that Ruby asked

(26:37):
him to leave the family home so they could work
on their marriage, and Kevin claims that he hasn't seen
his children during that time and has had no communication
with them. Kevin's attorney also said that the reason for
their split was a difference in opinion over parenting as
well as their own personal dynamic. Now it's quite clear
this attorney is working hard to prove that Kevin doesn't

(26:58):
have anything to do with this situation. It seems more
like he's a pr manager trying to push this narrative
out there, which I can understand you would want to
clear your own name. Kevin also allegedly claimed that Jody
had manipulated him in conjunction with Ruby, and that she's
been the spearhead towards essentially destroying his life and destroying
his family.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
God, this is all so wild. It seems very Jerry's springer.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Ruby's family have now been coming out of the woodwork
to condemn her behavior, and her estranged sister in law
said she should be put away forever if convicted of
child abuse and labeled her a narcissist. The sister in
law also claimed that the Frankie family believe Ruby and
JODI's relationship is more than a professional one.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Can you imagine all of the people on Tattle Life.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
They'd be like, I knew it, We like predicted this
month ago, like years ago.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
They suggested this was happening.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
They're totally vindicated now in documenting every single thing that's
ever happened on that channel. Ruby's sister Bonnie is also
a YouTuber, and she released a statement supporting Ruby and
Joe arrest. Ruby's twenty year old daughter, Shahi, who distanced
herself last year from her mother, has also released a
statement on Instagram that read, me and my family are
so glad justice as being served. We've been trying to

(28:11):
tell the police and CPS for years about this and
so glad they finally decided to step up. The kids
are safe, but there's.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
A long road ahead.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Please keep them in your prayers and please respect their privacy.
Jody's niece has also spoken out and has accused her
aunt of being the mastermind behind this situation.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Let's throw to what she said.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
Jody's told them that these children should not be around
anyone else, that they were evil, and they can't be
around anyone else.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Other children, Right, they can't be around other.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Children, They can't be around other children. They shouldn't be
around other children because they're evil or something to that effect.
And this is exactly what she did to me. So
the thing that I am finding, I'm having a lot
of emotional reaction to. And it's complicated because I'm grateful
in a weird way. I'm grateful that she partnered with

(29:00):
someone that has so much fame, because I don't think
there was no way it would be getting the coverage
that it's getting if she hadn't. But Jody is the
mastermind here, not Ruby. Ruby is still responsible and should
be arrested for harming her children for sure. And I'm
sure Jody like used that used what it was already there,

(29:22):
which is what she does. She uses what's already there
to her advantage. Jody is the one doing this. This
is Jody's therapeutic ideas. Jody's told them that these children
should should not be around anyone else.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
This has gone all over TikTok. People are so invested
in this story. Oh, it's like a feeding frenzy on
TikTok at the moment. The weirdest thing is the first
hearing for this case was last Friday, and more than
one thousand people joined the online meeting. So what's really
weird about this is people actually able to log on,
They're able to watch the proceedings and there, for some

(30:00):
bizarre reason, they're even able to communicate, so it's almost
like this big zoom meeting.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
Yeah, it was so weird.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
People were yelling out random words and playing the song Wap.
There was even a screenshot of Ruby's oldest son watching
this from home.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
How American is this? Yeah, well that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
This is the start of a case that is likely
to be watched by millions of people. The judges also
decided that Jody and Ruby will be held without bail.
