I have a unique upbringing as a child adopted at birth and raised in the mormon faith. My parents were very devout members, and living in a high demand religion effects every part of your life. When you make the decision to leave, it feels as though your world is falling apart. I was caught in the battle of "things aren't adding up" and " just have faith."

My entire network was created in mormonism, the way I lived life was dedicated to the religion and with that I realized how I was living my life in fear.

Members are taught over and over again that people who leave, are in a way less worthy or deserving of God's love because they aren't following the strict guidelines of the religion and members are, therefore they are entitled to more of God's blessings and rewards.

When I started my faith transition process, the meaning of the above statement didn't ring true to me any longer. I was trying to make sense of things and finding my identity. My identity mirrored what the church taught that women should act, look and aspire to be. I no longer wanted to fit that mold because I realized that by staying in the faith, I had to be comfortable with not knowing who I truly was and what I was meant to do here.

I knew the cost of leaving the church would come with a heavy price. It came to the point in my life where I was ready for that undertaking.

My story isn't rare, it's actually quite common and comes with a lot of heartache. Many people who leave high demand religion don't have a lot of resources and I want to change that by sharing my story. You can decide to leave and find peace after. I am living proof of that!
