Imagine a media giant welcoming an RNC Chairwoman with open arms—only for the move to backfire spectacularly. That's precisely what happened when NBC enlisted Ronna Romney McDaniel, a decision we scrutinize in this episode, unraveling its implications for the network and the message it conveys to viewers. From dissecting McDaniel's controversial tenure to the network's juggle with its own integrity, we peel back the layers of this media scandal and ponder the larger narrative it feeds into—a narrative where political figures associated with insurrection are granted influential platforms.

But our gaze doesn't stop at the U.S. border. We roam the globe, examining political scandals and the latest investigations, including former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro's alleged coup connection and escape attempts. We also stop in Budapest to watch peaceful protestors rally against Viktor Orban—a leader oddly praised by some American media figures. And then, we pivot to the curious whispers of an FBI or DHS investigation involving none other than Diddy. It's a whirlwind tour of political drama and the consequential ripple effects felt around the world.

Bringing it back home, we grapple with the thorny issues of crumbling infrastructure underscored by a tragic bridge collapse in Baltimore and the Supreme Court's dance around Texas's controversial immigration policy. We voice our frustrations and fears over the stark reality of America's decaying foundations while confronting the rampant misinformation that obstructs vital progress. This episode isn't just a collection of stories; it's a call to action—a sobering reminder that beyond the headlines lies a deep-seated need for change, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to rebuilding, not just our structures, but our collective future.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
one, two, three, four .
So nbc hired ronald robneymcdaniel last week to be a paid
contributor on their network tothe tune of 300, or rather 300
000 a year, causing immediatefallout of the network,

(00:24):
resulting in outrage by both thepublic as well as the network
host themselves, and that waseventually resulted in her being
pulled from MSNBC, ultimatelybeing removed from NBC
altogether.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, that was man.
They were on fire.
Joy Reid fucking Maddow.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
No, I was trying to wave to Carol.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Oh, I thought you, you can hang out with us too.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
We're more fun than your phone.
Aren't you interested inshitting?
Aren't you interested inshitting on?
Aren't you interested inshitting on rana mcdaniel, by
any chance that's 300 000.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
What about a lot of flowers?
She's probably disappointedbecause she lost her flower
budget.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yeah, I mean, it's just insane, like.
For those of you that aren'taware, obviously rana mcdaniel
was the the rnc chairwoman forthe past few years here and
she's actually largelyresponsible, or at least while
on her watch, republicans lostthe presidential election, they

(01:35):
lost the senate, theyunderperformed in the house in
2022 and they are set to have.
Well, they currently entered uhthe month with with fewer
dollars on hand at the rnc thannikki haley oh yes, she still
keeps racking up votes, haley, and not even on the ballot.

(01:57):
That shit is funny no, but uh, Ithink, most importantly and
it's not just that, she's like aliar and a con and a fraud and
this is not Nikki Haley theywere referring to, although I
guess like that's an accuratedescription of her as well but
Ronna Romney McDaniel here it'snot that she's just a terrible
person and a piece of shit and aliar and a fraud and a sellout.

(02:22):
She's willing to sell out herfamily name all because Trump
doesn't like her uncle.
Like, most importantly, she's afucking insurrectionist.
Like she's practically aco-conspirator in the fake
elector plot that ended upleading to a coup.
You know where our Capitol wasunder attack.
Like she's a conspirator inthat.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
And the fact that MSNBC decided that they wanted
to invest a significant portionof a significant amount of funds
in like putting money in herpocket to be a fucking clown
show on their network howfucking embarrassing is it for
that network to treat theiraudience like shit by putting

(03:05):
this person and their and theiranchors and the people that come
on as commentators, like kurtbardella someone had made that
point was, I think I waslistening to, I think it was the
bulwark today with, uh, timmillard, but you know, and they
were saying that the left-wingpeople of color that go on there
and commentate, they don't getanything.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Oh, they never get paid.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
They don't get paid at all.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
They never get paid commentary deals.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
They're being made to feel like, you know, they
should just be fucking gratefulto NASA for having them on, you
know, or whatever, and they'regoing to platform this woman.
They're going to platform thiswoman.
And it wasn't just that, butwhat the head of NBC was like on
her memo, in her memo wassaying that, oh, this is such an
important voice and this, andI'm like, but the voice of

(03:56):
fucking sedition, like what thefuck does that mean, you know?
And then she's like oh, youknow, being from Michigan, she's
going to be so great tocommentate um, um, in this, uh,
key battleground state.
And I'm like those words, thosesentences, that says everything
about their fucking intent.
yeah, because, like you don'thave anybody else from michigan,

(04:17):
like there ain't nomotherfucking other republican
she could potentially beindicted in michigan for all we
fucking know.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
And you're gonna put her on the fucking air and risk
your credibility like this andit's just, it's disrespectful,
like you said, to the host.
It's disrespectful to theaudience, it's disrespectful to
everyone, like you said, whocontributes there Unpaid, gives
their time and efforts.
It's disrespectful to thejournalists that they let go,
like their print journalist thatthey fired a few weeks ago, who

(04:46):
were unionized and it'sprobably an illegal fire, like
that money could have went tothem and that they did this is
just absurd and and it's justlike, and it's not just that,
it's not even just that she's aliar, because a lot of people
lie and then still get theopportunity to come on msnbc.
It's that like know she's beenengaged in issuing, just like

(05:08):
saying all kinds of horrendousthings about MSNBC employees.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, exactly, but not only just that.
She was actively engaged infucking insurrection, like
actively engaged in active andwilling participants.
It's crazy, ty, and it's crazy,it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Imagine a world where we go back to world war ii and
then, like the united states, decides that they're gonna let
gerbils host fireside chats.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
It's fucking insane like it's fucking, it's fucking
ridiculous.
And I'm very, very glad, because at first I was wondering
when, when I had made, uh, mypost, um, and then somebody had
mentioned, I was like okay,we'll know what's going on come
monday when maddo gets on, andshe killed it.

(05:57):
So I was like very, very happy,uh, happy about that, and even
like fucking, you know, chucktodd, I do think, do think that
he gave Kristen Walker where hewas like oh, you were putting an
impossible position.
Maybe she was, but she couldhave met that moment and she
could have pushed back more thanshe did and she didn't.

(06:21):
So I'm not giving her that.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Not only did she pull a Chris, a Chuck Todd and let
Welker basically get on TV andlive for 30 minutes, Like she
should have just never had heron the show, but I mean we all
know, we know who Kristen Welkeror she, should have said I'm
not going to do it.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
I'm not going to do it.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Well, that's obviously, but she didn't.
But like obviously, again, weknow who Kristen Welker is
voting for in November.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
You know, exactly, exactly.
Because we can say whatever wewant and he can say whatever he
wants.
Oh, you've been put in ahorrible position with Ronna
whatever.
But he has neglected to mentionall the motherfuck ass
interviews that she's given, where she has allowed people to
fucking spread lies, propaganda, gaslight, bullshit, without

(07:07):
pushing back and even likefucking pandering to them.
So don't?

Speaker 1 (07:13):
her introduction to msnbc audience was having trump
on there in a pre-recordedhour-long rehabilitation
propaganda tour.
Yeah, it's insane.
Like I don't know what theywere thinking.
And this is not to say like, ifyou're listening to this, like
we're not suggesting, uh, thatmsnbc needs to become fox news

(07:35):
of the left, where it existssolely as a propaganda outlet
for the left.
That's not what we're saying.
What we're saying is like, ifyou intend to present yourself
as this liberal leaning outletwith with journalistic integrity
, the last thing you can do isput an insurrectionist on your
payroll not even liberal leaning, I mean, while they do have you

(08:00):
know as far as their nighttimeanchors go oh, we ain't gotta
talk about it.
They got a whole bunch of formerfucking Republicans hosting
these shows, exactly.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Nicole Wallace, for one you know, and her history
like going, you know.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Who y'all think Joe and Mika voted for in 2008?
I bet it wasn't a black dude.
No, that's true.
That is true, carol.
You look so defeated, are youokay?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
You're dope.
Are you tired?
Are you tired, I'm sorry, donut.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yeah, I'm sorry.
We're keeping you up all night.
We're wearing you out.
We'll try and let you get somerest here soon.
Luckily for us, carol Ty hasn'tconsumed copious amounts of

(08:52):
alcohol, so she's all's all overtoday.
Fantastic performance by youthis evening, ty, uh so, and
we're just like endlesslydiscussing with msnbc.
But we we got to move on in theinterest of time here yes um,
and we'll get back to msc mbc onanother episode.
I've got, I've got more concernsabout that, but again in the
interest of time, um.
So brazil's federal policelaunched an investigation into

(09:14):
former president jair bolsonaroafter a two-night sleepover at
the hungarian embassy I did nothear about this, oh damn yeah,
and what appeared to be anattempt to potentially use, uh,
hungary to avoid an arrest.
Um, I worded it that waybecause it's funny what's being

(09:36):
arrested for now well, you know,uh, so the united states wasn't
the only country to.
Uh, so the United States wasn'tthe only country.

(10:09):
Toth is a guest of Trump'sWhite House, so you can connect
the dots there.
So there was also a potentialwell, a failed coup stage by
Bolsonaro supporters in Brazil.
They've gone to far moreefforts to hold him responsible
than we've managed to do so here.
Of course, trump is nowcurrently indicted, but, yes, it

(10:29):
appears as though Bolsonaro wastrying to pull an Assange and
hide out at the embassy here, hoping to avoid arrest.
So now he's being investigatedfor that and could potentially
face more charges for that, andcould potentially face more
charges.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to like the
way Brazil's law enforcementworks.

(10:51):
They're doing a better job ofholding their insurrectionists
accountable than we are.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
They arrested them, motherfuckers, immediately.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Immediately On the spot.
They was like y'allmotherfuckers ain't leaving.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
No, on site.
Site for real.
They were not having it, theywere not having it.
So, yeah they.
They nipped that shit in thebud real quick but, yeah, it's
just it's incredible, I mean,it's not.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
It's funny, but not funny.
The dude is like trying tofigure out how he's going to
escape these criminal chargesand what he came up with is I'm
a hot out in the embassy.
It's hilarious, you know.
And they eventually ended upconfiscating his Well.
So I think the judge in hiscase ordered the confiscation of

(11:44):
his passport to prevent himfrom leaving the company, the
company, the country, and that'show he made the decision that
he was going to try and hide outin the embassy.
But apparently that arrangementdidn't work out and he ended up
having to.
I don't know.
I don't know if he was forcedout of the embassy or he left of

(12:05):
his own volition.
Who the fuck knows exactlywhat's going on down there?
But I just wanted to point outthat, like we should be in a
situation where Trump is tryingto hide from law enforcement,
he's trying to find an embassyto escape to like why are they
doing a better job of trying tohold this motherfucker
accountable than we are?
It's absolutely insane.
Just every day makes me lose mymind.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
My brain is broken and then it breaks some more
when I think that it's broken tothe point of no more breaking.

(12:52):
It's just insanity on a levelbasis, and I'm waiting for
ashton kutcher to like fuckingjump out of a van and tell me
that you know, the shit was justa whole big fucking gag, but
yeah, not happening um, also, and this is semi-breaking news
as of today, there's likemassive demonstrations in

(13:13):
budapest, that is, in Hungary, demanding the resignation or
removal of Viktor Orban fromoffice.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, so it's not like it's not violent, it's a
non-violent protest.
They're not like storming thepresidential palace or anything
like that, but they areabsolutely not happy about that.
And in the fact that it's likesuch a gigantic protest, it

(13:45):
doesn't look like it's going togo well for for Orban.
And I think my commentary onthe Twitter about this subject
was was Tucker Carlson, heyuckercarlson, your boyfriend in
trouble, girl?

Speaker 2 (14:01):
you know, I didn't know like I was reading that um,
I was like, why does he standso much for his?

Speaker 1 (14:06):
dad worked for him yeah, runs in the family, yeah,
uh pretty much, yeah, it's beenokay you know, a long, long
relationship between the, thecar, the Carlson family and the
Orban family, but anyway.
So moving on in the subject,I'm sure all of you listening

(14:29):
couldn't wait for us to get tothe one of the most important
developments in the newslandscape here.
So it appears as though Diddy, also known as Puff Daddy had his
New York and Florida homesraided by the FBI or DHS

(14:52):
Department of Homeland Securityin what appears to be a sex
trafficking investigation.
I'm just kidding guys, we'renot talking about that on this
podcast.
That is not that's not thesubject matter that we cover
here.
Neither was Orban, so uh no, butI mean it was kind of funny.

(15:14):
So I don't know how many of youkeep up with like, uh, you know
, pop culture, uh, the musiclandscape and whatnot.
But there has been like this, this ongoing saga with uh, ditty
sexual proclivities andallegations of like sex
trafficking and like sex cultlevel shit, like r kelly type
stuff, and apparently a numberof people testified in some kind

(15:41):
of civil suit and the feds hadan ongoing investigation they
don't do a raid on a suspicionno, I'm pretty sure that at this
point the raid resulted in thearrest of Diddy's sons.
It appears as though Diddy hadsome kind of, some kind of uh, a
fair warning in advance of thisactivity and he didn't feel

(16:05):
like telling his sons well, yeah, not only that, but he boarded
a flight and left.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
That's a trump that's a trump move oh, he's in uh
cape verde, that's off the coastof Africa.
It's a nice little island.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Oh, did he bring Ivanka?
Oh, that's funny.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Yeah, so Diddy left the country as his kids were
getting rounded up and sent offto jail.
I thought that was prettyfucking funny.
But yeah, just like it wasfucking hilarious, I think I
said that, yeah, now that thefeds have raided his house, he
needs to hurry up and file torun for president.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, yeah, that's what you got to do it yeah, no
labels I hear they're looking.
They're looking for a candidate.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
That's the only way you're gonna try.
You can get out of jail, apparently, because if you're
running for president, like therule of law does, it no longer
applies to you.
But no moving, moving on.
So a federal judge dismissedElon Musk lawsuit against the
center for countering digitalhate, saying that the
organization's reporting on theplatform and its activities is,

(17:08):
in fact, protected by freespeech.
Free speech warrior Elon Muskout here using his massive funds
and to use the courts and abusethem in an attempt to silence
the free speech of others.
Pretty fucking ironic, huhindeed that.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yeah, I, I love this for him.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Yeah, I love this for him.
Same makes him look like a hugepussy uh pussy ass bitch and we
already knew he was a yes, he,we already knew he was a
hypocrite.
And like I don't mean pussy, uh, you know some.
I do hate to use that wordbecause, like it is indicative
of what the typically the peoplewho use it are engaged in some
form of of misogyny.

(17:50):
And while I really readilyadmit that is the fact,
personally I love pussy, so ingeneral, I guess you can
consider me calling someone apussy a compliment, so maybe
I'll just remove that epithetfrom my vocabulary.
Anyway, so this particularlawsuit was about the CCDH and

(18:17):
their report on how, since Elontaking over the platform, a
number of ads from prominentcompanies were appearing next to
the content of Nazi andpro-Hitler content.
Yeah, nazi and pro hitlercontent, yeah, yeah, and he was.

(18:40):
He was outraged about thereporting of that and filed a
lawsuit uh, uh, about the reportthat they put out.
They contained a lot of and andlook, the thing was pretty
fucking straightforward, right, and he was saying, like they use
, uh, they manipulated theplatform to achieve those
results, and I think a number ofus on the twitter, we were
basically like we would searchfor Nazi and then we click on a
post and then you scroll down alittle bit and then boom,

(19:02):
there's a fucking ad and thenyou just take a screenshot and
then you could post the thingyourself.
Like it was pretty fucking easyto find right, and this idea
that, like people weremanipulating the platform to
achieve those results by usingit.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Yes, Like people were manipulating the platform to
achieve those results by usingit yes, as if there's not like
there's not 280 million peopleon the site every day this
season, Right?

Speaker 1 (19:23):
I mean like Well, he was saying, like you know, it's
theoretically possible that, like, a handful of people could
be in a situation where they seethese ads next to you know
untoward content, but, like the,the way you secure these
marketing these, you know adarrangements and marketing
agreements with these companies,is that you ensure that them,

(19:46):
you ensure them that there's noway that that shit could ever
happen, absolutely no way.
Yeah, and the fact that this islike easily replicatable, easily
replicatable, replicable Idon't know what happened to my
english there uh, like it's justinsane that he fucking tried to
sue these people.
It's like a it was a frivolouslawsuit.
It was insane that he eventried to do this and even the

(20:07):
judge himself said, he saidspecifically, and I can quote
this this suit is quote sounabashedly and vociferously
about one thing that there canbe no mistaking that purpose.
This case is about punishingthe defendants for their speech
and, like, it is rare for ajudge to kick you in the fucking

(20:28):
ass that hard.
Oh, it's just, I just hate thisdude.
What he's done to the platform,like it's, it's, it's been a
disaster, it's been unfortunate,it's forced, it's fractionized
the social media space in such away now that, like you know,
tens of millions of people havemoved on to other similar

(20:51):
platforms.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
But, like it is, it has weakened the potential for
people to use their voices forgood and just, in so many ways
in a unified way, because and Ithink that too was the point it
was like okay, she had masterbond don, you had post spoutable
blue sky and threads and andmoving, but 20 on twitter we had

(21:16):
a unified voice, and so ourvoices are still strong, and so
he has looked for other ways tosubvert that by by not just
flooding us with trolls butwanting to remove the block
button, wanting to do like theseother little things, when he

(21:37):
realized that he's literally onthere on the, on the fucking app
using his platform to boostNazis.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
I mean at least.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I mean.
Zuckerberg is no motherfuckinglike, no hero to write home
about.
However, his ass isn't onfucking meta every goddamn five
minutes replying retweetingnazis again, I mean he just he
just lets them do their shit, but he's not actively engaged in

(22:07):
it.
No, so for what it's worth that?
That is a difference.
Because elon is there and hecomes up in my in the ads that I
get.
It's always the same my in theads that I get.
It's always the same right wingmotherfucking ads that I get
all the time.
And then he shows up in my andI don't engage with him because
I know he's a fucking snowflakeand the shit that I would love
to say.
I'm like this could be the dayI lose my account and I don't

(22:29):
want that.
So I got to just keep onscrolling by.
But the shit that he amplifiesand the shit that Elon says he
is so goddamn dumb Like I don'tknow if it's the ketamine, the
hubris, it's probably all of itwrapped into one All the good

(22:51):
combination.
Yeah, and his inflated sense ofself-importance is just I, he
fucking like, literally, I seered every fucking time.
Like I have to stay away.
If somebody posts somethinglike I'd like okay, I'm not
gonna read this, I don't want toread this, because if I read
this, this shit's gonna, it'sgonna, I'm gonna reach a boiling

(23:13):
point.
You know I'm to reach a boilingpoint.
You know I'm going to reach aboiling point.
Like I, I just, I just can't.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yeah, Look, we we could just do an entire hour
long episode on Elon himself andit wouldn't be long enough to
address all the fuckery thathe's been engaged in from his
purchase of the platform untilnow.
It just it wouldn't be enough.
We need, like there should be,a whole book dedicated to this
fiasco.
Carol, do you have a nomineefor the Shithole of the Week

(23:44):
Award by any chance?

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Yes, no, I don't remember.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Then we're gonna spin the wheel, right we're gonna
have to get the wheel, wheel ofshitholes.
There we go it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
I don't want to spin it that.
You put it that way.
Put on my elbow length gloves, and, and, and and spin that.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
I was falling asleep and then I heard carol uh well,
my nominee for the shithole ofthe week award is the sun, the,
the british media outlet, forspending a couple of months here
totally gaslighting the publicabout the state of affairs with
the royal family as it pertainsto kate middleton.

(24:32):
Not that I'm blaming katemiddleton for anything, but like
it was the son who put out thisnarrative that she was enduring
an abdominal surgery and itwasn't cancer related.
Well, it turns out it wasactually fucking cancer related
and then no one was telling theson, hey, we, we, we need you to
solve the mystery.
Whereas kate, like they put outphotoshop images of kate
middleton on her own and thenwhen they got busted with that,

(24:54):
they blamed they blamed a cancerpatient.
They were like saying, well, you know, kate has a photoshop
hobby, haha.
And then they put out fakevideo and more fake pictures and
and just gaslight the publicand like, if they're willing to
go to this extent to lie to usabout something that's so stupid
, like there's absolutely noreason to not only like, just

(25:18):
try and hide this, like theycould have just been like, hey,
can you respect kate's privacy, that they went out of their way
to try a lot of people for nofucking reason kate was going to
eventually make this public.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
They're willing to lie about anything I mean, it
really makes you wonder who's,uh, who's behind them.
But not that hard.
I have conspiracy theoriesabout that too.
That are anyway sure, butthey're.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I will second your nomination, okay, I'm gonna be,
I'm gonna, I'm gonna be the uhcontrarian sotomayor, I'm gonna
be the dissent and it's becauseso okay.
So I said and I'll tie this intogether after I'm done with
this statement but what I wassaying about, you know, al

(26:01):
jazeera fabricating that storyabout the idf raping, raping
palestinian women at the shifahospital, and it was up for like
24 hours, millions, I mean itwas, of course, the fucking you
know article read around theworld, and then they just kind
of quietly dirty, deleted anddetracted, and then you had all

(26:23):
of these pro-Palestinian peoplelike going back and retracting
and deleting, like spreadingthat, but then the head of Al
Jazeera just saying like, oh,you know, it was in the heat of
the moment, like that was hisexcuse.
So but for me, I mean KateMiddleton, I'm not going to say
fuck her, but I'm going to saylike, as far as the Royal family

(26:44):
, they really don't have anysway or anything in regards to
where we are right now, whileour democracy hangs in the
balance.
However, where we are and whatis going on in gaza, for al
jazeera to put something outlike that was far more
detrimental, harmful anddangerous for the world as a
whole.

(27:04):
So maybe we can just tiefucking media motherfuckers
together, people like the sun, people like al jazeera
propagandizing, using theirplatforms to to form and push
narratives that have that arejust that, serve no purpose but

(27:28):
to fuel fucking whatever andgaslight fucking everybody.
So I nominate them both Allright, it's two to one and then
a half Two to one and a halfshithole.
Al Jazeera gets the halfshithole.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
No, it is a dual shithole of the week award.
The Sun, al Jazeera.
You are hereby both awarded theshithole of the week award.
I mean, for god's sakes, guys,do better.
It's not that fucking difficultto just not outright lie to
your audience like mistakes getmade, it's totally fine.
It happens all the time.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
We're totally understandable, just unless you
did it on purpose which I sortof think you did it on purpose,
which I sort of think you did,in which case fuck you.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Yeah, All perfectly said donut.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
All right, Carol.
Closing thoughts Go.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
All right.
So we were talking about.
You know a lot of people arenervous about what's coming up.
Ty started talking about theveiled threats of you don't need
to vote, we don't need yourvote, don't worry about it.
Like, ok, they're need to vote,we don't need your vote, don't
worry about it.
Like, okay, they're going topush.
They're going to push the feartactics again, trying to get
voter intimidation up.

(28:36):
But it just got me thinking alittle bit about, like the
prisoner's dilemma mentality, like if everyone is going to get
it.
You're going to get yourself tothe point of getting scared that
something might overpower you.
Just remember, we are not inthe metaphorical prison.

(28:59):
We are not the prisoners.
Do not let a bunch of prisonersconvince you to come into
prison and face their dilemma.
This is is not as brilliant asit was going to be in my head,
but like we're not on the otherside of that don't let yourself
get fucking beat up into thisdefeatist attitude.

(29:21):
That is what they want, likethey want you scared to vote.
Like fuck them, man, what theydon't have a plan.
Their plan is like hope you'llbe scared, don't go for it.
I mean yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
You ain't no prisoner unless you're listening to this
in jail, in which case fuck up,I mean, we're all prisoners of
the moment, I suppose.
So as for my closing thoughts, just really short here.
Just recently here, the SupremeCourt took up this case from
Texas, where Texas has basicallyimplemented its own immigration

(30:08):
policy.
Again, that is typically therealm of the federal government,
in that the Supreme Courtdidn't step in and shut this
shit down, like Texas doesn'tget to set immigration policy.
That's the job of theadministration currently in
office and of the laws on thebooks.
Those are for the federalgovernment to enforce.

(30:32):
And when previously they werefaced with a situation where
Colorado wanted to remove Trumpfrom the ballot for being an
insurrectionist, one of thearguments that they used in
basically rejecting the decisionby the Colorado Supreme Court

(30:52):
was that they didn't want it tobe a patchwork of 50 different
laws governing the way, you know, the placement of candidates on
ballots work, even though we'realready in a situation where
all the states have varyingdegrees of methodology and rules
and laws about how ballots work.

(31:15):
Yet in this particular instance, they decide to let texas do
whatever the fuck they want andcreate a patchwork of 50
different uh sets of laws.
When it comes to immigrationlaw, it's just fuck the the
endless fucking hypocrisy ontheir part.
When the Constitution itmatters only when it's

(31:37):
convenient to them.
When it's clear theConstitution bars
insurrectionists from being onthe ballot, they find a loophole
to put an insurrectionist onthe ballot because it's their
insurrectionist when theConstitution clearly states and
ballot because it's theirinsurrectionist when the
constitution clearly states andI believe it's the sixth
amendment that the federalgovernment is largely
responsible for the enforcementof immigration, pilot will

(32:00):
setting and enforcingimmigration policy.
Well, now, it's okay.
Now, with states rights, thisis the time you pick and like
this is just again a microcosmof a larger problem in the fact
that, like you can also look atnew york here the appeals court
bailing trump out at the lastsecond, giving him a massive
reduction to his bond or atleast to appeal the judgment in

(32:22):
in that case, just like that, there's no accountability, that
that no one, especially as faras the legal system goes.
The courts, aren't necessarilygoing to save us and you can't
rely on that.
Obviously, we're hoping thatthings work out as as best as
possible in trump's criminaltrials.
We likely might not we likelymay not see a number of them

(32:46):
take place before the election.
So, just just, even if they do,it's always a possibility that
some court higher up, includingthe Supreme Court, will bail him
out.
So you can't look to the courtsto save us.
Again, I know it's exhausting, but, just like 2020, it is on us
to save ourselves by voting inNovember.

(33:08):
Ty, after you.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Us.
Okay.
So the bridge collapsed inBaltimore today.
So you know horrible events.
I give shout outs to all thefirst responders, everyone who
showed up and stepped up almostimmediately after to get as many

(33:37):
people off of the bridge asthey can.
And when I woke up this morning, and you know when I see all of
the news about it, and you knowDavid and I are sitting and I go
, sitting in, I go.
How long do you think beforeRepublicans turn this into some

(33:59):
anti-DEI, racist bullshit?
Because that's what they do?
So I'm reading posts and thoseof us resistors, leftists,
whatever, well, just those of usthat are human, I'll just leave
it at that.
And it's man, this is horrible.
Hope everything's, everyone'sokay.
And oh, what a tragedy.
This was painful to watch.
Blah, blah, blah.
And then it's oh, and then it'sconspiracy theories, and it's

(34:20):
this and it's that, and theyhave no ability to just be.
But what it does do is what thatbuilt was.
That bridge was built in 1977.
And then they're going on aboutDEI and this and that, and it's
like this.
This fucking bridge was builtlike 40, 50 fucking years ago.

(34:42):
But what it does amplify andhighlight is why infrastructure
I mean that was a sturdy bridge.
That was a nine hundred andfifty foot, you know, cargo boat
.
So no matter how strong thatwas, that was going to do some
damage, regardless of how strongthe bridge was.
But just imagine all the onesthat have been like, seriously
neglected, that aren't a keypoint of crossing and

(35:07):
transportation on the I-95corridor, that this could happen
to, that are always beingrailed against.
So every time I see a post fromyou know one of these
right-wing accounts and they'rejust like, oh, there needs to be
an investment in infrastructure, and it's like what the fuck?

Speaker 1 (35:23):
like I don't know do they?

Speaker 2 (35:26):
it's like who wants to tell them, like it is so
incredibly frustrating, I mean, and they seem to forget, and
they're so.
They're like oh, mayor Pete, mayor Pete, mayor Pete, oh Pete
Buttigieg.
And I'm like, did y'allmotherfuckers forget that a year
and a half ago, a wholemotherfucking building collapsed
in Florida?
Because they don't doinspections with every 40

(35:46):
fucking years, people fucking intheir beds wake up and
literally crush the fucking dead.
And then everybody's like noclamoring for change, no,
clamoring for infrastructure, no, you know, going on about who's
going to be here, who'ssupposed to be here, who's going
to do this, who's going to dothat?

(36:06):
But it is, it is a.
It is a really disappointingand heartbreaking, on a level,
reminder to me that we havecrossed that Rubicon of

(36:26):
rationality, reality, commonsense.
At this point, those on theother side don't have the
ability to just be, to seesomething for what it is and to
experience, feel, express anykind of you know horror or you

(36:52):
know empathy or compassion, orlooking for solutions.
And okay, yes, this, have thingslike this, awful as they are,
that can happen.
But this should wake you up to,like man, like there's a bridge
I cross over when I'm going tothe east side from the west side
where I live here in El Paso, and when I'm going over the

(37:16):
overpass and I'm looking at theway the fucking beams look and I
already have vertigo, but I'mlooking and that shit, just that
10 sec I do, but that 10seconds when I'm crossing over
and I'm like, is this the day?
Like, is this the day?
Because I know Texas is full offuckery, you know what I'm
saying.

(37:36):
And it just like all of thesethings.
And it was like we are nevergoing to have nice things, we
are never going to get anywhereuntil people put aside their
addiction to rage, theiraddiction to culture wars that

(37:56):
don't exist and are non-existent, to address the real issues.
And the reason that Republicansare so brazen and confident in
their lying and theirgaslighting is because they know
that-.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
And their stupidity.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Yeah, yes, it's because they know that their
stupidity yeah, yes, it'sbecause they know that their
base would rather be angry, youknow rather, you know, push this
bullshit than see any realsolutions.
Because, at the end of the day,if their problems were solved
or they acknowledged that theywere being solved, that would

(38:33):
take away their standing andconfidence and being able to
whine about shit.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
They would actually have to take a step back and
look at it would end theexistence of all of their
grievances exactly, that's allthey have and that concludes
this episode of part of theinsurrection.
