What is emotional regulation? This term has gained popularity recently and to be emotionally regulated sounds great in theory–but how do you actually do it? Chrissie and Bethann spoke with Dr. Lou Bevilacqua, CEO and owner of Sanare Today. Dr. Lou explained what emotional regulation is and why certain kids (and adults) may be wired to be more up and down than others. Dr. Lou also shares his observations on how the pandemic and technology have impacted kid’s regulation skills, how children (and parents) learn regulation skills from their experience and what is role modeled to them, and he tells a story to explain “why do we do what we do”. Plus, Chrissie (“asking for a friend”) gets some advice on how her own anxiety is causing her to put off setting up a boundary with her kid and tech habits. This was a great conversation packed with real life scenarios and to dos. Join us!
