simply just exhausted with theDecember things that are going
on.
So let's just say that I willmost probably be back soon after
Christmas somewhere.
And also I just wanted to saythat I don't think January
counts as the first year of themonth.

I mean, January is just likegetting over everything that has
happened while you've beenreflecting on the last year.
It just takes time.
And then February, you'restarting to feel like, okay, I
better get going.
I better have like some sort ofan idea of what's going to
happen or what I want to happenin the next year.

And then in March, you finally,yeah, things are happening.
So that's how I usually perceivethe end and the end of one year,
the beginning of another year.
And I also talked about how Ibasically have two reset points
every year around this time ofyear, and the other one is
around summer, when I also takea break.

(01:55):
And when I take a break, mybrain actually starts working
again.
It's miraculous what a littlerest can do for your brain.
And then I have all sorts ofideas, and usually the main idea
is I'm gonna do everythingdifferently, and then I'll calm
down a little bit, and then Iget to my senses, and then I
make some healthier decisions,and that's kind of how my cycles

go during the year.
So I cannot believe this is theend of 2025.
That is sick.
I mean, how?
Right.
Um, for those of you who arewatching on YouTube, I've got a
new little microphone buddyhere.
Of course, we still have myemotional support pickle who's

also with me.
Um, if you're listening to thispodcast, you're thinking, what

I recently, last week, went toBerlin with my friend Angela,
and this is where I found thislittle fella, and they're very,

very, very cute.
So this is my companion fortoday, and um, I am editing a
little video about our trip toBerlin, but I'm also still
really learning and finding outhow much time it takes to edit a
freaking video, it takes so muchtime, and so um it's four days,

(03:32):
two travel days, two days inBerlin.
Had an amazing time.
We had um let's just say that itwas all about needles, and I'll
leave it with that for now, andthen at some point there will be
a video.
But today we are focusing on, Imean, you're probably bored of

(03:53):
it by now, but hopefully youhaven't listened to a lot of
other videos and podcasts aboutum reflecting and things like
that.
And I've done that before, andtoday I want to talk a little
bit about wishes and intentions.

(04:13):
So, welcome to the last episodebefore the Christmas break.
Yay! I feel I feel veryMuppetty.
Did you know that there arechaos Muppets and Order Muppets?
They're two kinds of Muppets.
I did not know that.
And um Andy J Pizza taught methat.
Um, he has uh an amazingpodcast, actually, the first

ever podcast I started listeningto.
It's called Creative Pap Talk,and I love it.
It's an amazing, amazingpodcast.
Um, so he talked about the ChaosMuppets.
Why was I talking about ChaosMuppets?
Uh anyway, let's just go back tothe topic.

(04:55):
Um, so it's this time of theyear where we are tired, where
we crave some coziness and we dothe reflections, and everybody's
got their own way of doing it.
Some people just carry thesethoughts around in their head
and feeling very um edgy.

(05:16):
Other people write things down,or they talk about it to
friends, or they do it in theirwork environment, or perhaps not
at all.
Perhaps you just slowly movethrough your days and have not a
worry in the world, not a carein the world, and you are
oblivious to endings andbeginnings.

(05:38):
And if that is the case, I hopethat works well for you because
it sounds the way I'm saying it,it sounds really calm, calming.
But I think most of us um havewishes for the future, and
perhaps sometimes we wish we didthings differently.
And I have got some things tosay about that, but first I need

(06:00):
to do a little sniffle because Ithink I've got a cold coming,
another typical thing for thistime of year.
Okay, sniffle out of the way.
I had a recent coaching, groupcoaching set up with my business
circle, and we did a similarcelebration um for the last

(06:22):
year, and we called it LittleLights and Well Wishes.
I know it sounds corny, but youknow, sometimes corny is good.
We shared three wishes.
I asked the members to sharethree wishes they had for
themselves for the next year,and I asked them to share them

(06:43):
with me, and then I would putthem in the on the workspace so
they could all see thesedifferent wishes anonymously,
and then we would embrace themas wishes to all of us, and that
was quite special.
It was uh an emotional sessionand uh very clarifying and also

(07:08):
very warm and loving.
All of the all of the feels werethere, and these wishes kind of
inspired this episode.
Of course, I'm not gonna sharethem literally.
We've got a safe space there.
I'm not gonna say who did what.
I that's not what we're doinghere, but I just wanna give you

(07:31):
some idea of um the kind ofthings that go on in people's
heads, what they wish forthemselves as small business
owners in the creative field,and particularly in the um
needlecraft slow fashion andfiber arts world.

(07:52):
So this episode isn't aboutplanning or productivity, it's
more about intentions.
So your inner compass thatguides everything else.
That's where it starts, whereyou figure out what is it that
you you want, you need.

(08:13):
So let's take the next step andlook um why intentions matter
and not so much goals, andespecially for creative brains.
So lots of us, especially whenwe've had jobs that or still
have jobs in a setting where youwork with other people in a

(08:34):
corporate world or in thecultural and creative industry,
where I used to work in musicvenues and theaters and things
like that.
Um we usually work with goalsand measurable goals, and a lot
of creatives I have found that Iwork with have started to really

(08:55):
not like setting goals all thatmuch.
Um, it can get very frustrating.
They're about goals are aboutthings you want to achieve and
they're measured.
Like by February of 2026, I wantto be able to push 20 kilos

(09:15):
across the road.
I have a really bad example,that's what's happening here.
But goals are measurable so thatyou can go back to them and see
if you've actually achievedthem.
Um and they have somethingthat's a little bit negative
surrounding them.
Because if you haven't achievedthem, then what?

(09:36):
How do you deal with that?
And intentions are ways that youwant to feel and how you want to
move through your days, who youwant to be in the world.
So they by the fact that theyare that, they reduce pressure
and shame and perfectionism, andwe want that because all of

(09:59):
those things are bad, and wedon't want that.
And if you haven't heard,perfectionism is not something
to strive for, it's reallymessing you up.
And I'm just gonna be veryopinionated about that because I
know this for a fact, because itis true, and I lived it, and uh,
I wish for everyone.
This is my wish for everyone inthe world.

(10:23):
Please do not strive forperfection.
Okay, that's out there, movingon.
Okay, time for another sniffle.
Intentions help you make thechoices that fit the life that
you want, whether that would bein business, creativity, your
level of energy, relationships,all of that.

(10:44):
And um they don't really requirerigid systems, it's more of
getting in touch with yourfeelings, actually taking the
time, like taking it, becauseyou have to literally take the
time to be able to do this kindof work.

(11:05):
It won't be given.
Like there's there the time isthe time, and you have to take
it, make the decision to do thiskind of thing, so that the
future may be better.
And if you feel like I'm toobusy to sit down and think about
my intentions, then uh remindyourself that doing this kind of

(13:21):
work will make your life a loteasier in the long run because
you are building a compass foryourself.
And if there's people just lovea step-by-step, they love to
just tell me what to do.
This first and then that andthen that.
And if you have a compass, thenyou can use that to make the

(13:42):
decisions as you go along.
Okay, so it's really tempting tohave systems, and some of the I
mean, you know, I love a goodsystem.
I do.
I mean, bullet journaling iswell, I call it a method, but
it's also a system.
Yeah, I don't know.
I think my English might not begood enough to know the details

(14:05):
in that.
But intentions are thefoundation that make the system
meaningful, especially forbullet journaling.
It starts with intentions.
So let me just share the kind ofwishes we shared in the business
circle.
And they they were so universal,they were so recognizable.

(14:27):
Each and every person in thegroup, including myself,
recognized themselves in thesewishes for the future.
And it was a f I think it wasthe first question I asked is
what's coming up for you as yousee all of these wishes?
And everyone said, Oh, they allapply to me.
And so it might be the same foryou.

(14:49):
Less procrastination, to bebrave, to make difficult
choices, a quieter head, apeaceful balance between work,
rest, and play, and more privatetime and time with loved ones.
And also, an important one thatcomes back all the time and is

so ironic (15:10):
stretches of peaceful time to create.
Sometimes us creators don'tallow ourselves time to create,
not even sometimes, a lot of thetime.
We are so busy with all the bitsand bobs around the business
that we actually forget to dothe thing that got us here in

(15:32):
the first place.
We don't forget, we don't allowourselves to do it because the
other things seem more pressing,more, more important, more, I
don't know, expected of thepeople, whomever they may be.
So these are actually we callthem wishes, but they can
actually also be calledintentions.

(15:54):
They're not goals.
Nobody's saying, I want uh byMonday morning, seven o'clock, I
want my head to have fourthoughts less per minute.
It just says I um want aquieter, I need or want a
quieter head.
And so the collective thoughthere is a lot of us want less

(16:18):
noise, more softness, moreclarity, more balance, more
trust, more of all of that.
And that's how we want to be inthe world.
Now let's go into some sort of adefinition about an intention.
What is it and what is it not?
It's a direction, not adeadline.

(16:39):
It's a feeling, not a finishline, and it's a way of showing
up.
So some examples.
I intend to be kind to myselfwhen things get hard.
I intend to build my business ata pace that feels sustainable.

(16:59):
I intend to protect my creativemornings for some of these
things.
I intend to be part of thesolution, not the problem.
I intend to connect peoplearound me.
So I hope this all makes sense.
If you're up for it, I've got asimple intention setting

(17:22):
exercise.
So if you're walking, take adeep breath.
If you're doing something, justtake a pause.
If you have the ability to doso, get cozy, go sit on the
couch with a cup of tea, grab acup of tea, get cozy, and step
one.
Look back with kindness.

(17:44):
So ask yourself what felt reallygood this year, what was
absolutely awful draining, andseemed like a good idea, but
really wasn't.
What surprised you about thisyear?
And what did you learn about howyou want to do your work or live

(18:06):
your life?
Of course, in bullet journaling,we have a system, a way of doing
this, uh, which I truly love,and I'll tell you how to do it.
These are some questions thatcan help you get going.
What we do in bullet journalingis we take a spread, that means

(18:27):
two empty pages in front of you,and we divide them in four
parts.
On the left hand side, we've goton the top what's working, and
below what is not working.
And then on the right hand side,on top we have more of, and in

(18:48):
the bottom we have less of.
So working and not working isall about the process of things,
and more of and less of is moreabout the purpose of things.
This all feeds into how you setup your new bullet journal, but
it could be really helpful foryou if you're not a bullet

(19:08):
journalist.
So just really taking time andthinking about your year.
Of course, what's even morehelpful is that if you are
bullet journaling, then all youneed to do is flip through your
month, your months, andsometimes your weeks as well,
and just you'll have a quickidea of what the year was like

(19:30):
without having to do all theheavy lifting in one moment.
It it you've already done itthroughout the year.
So if that doesn't sell you onbullet journaling, I don't know
what does.
It just it just the gift thatkeeps on giving.
It's so easy.
All I have to do when I reflectabout the past year is to just
flip through my bullet journal,and I immediately have the

(19:54):
answers of what's working,what's not working, what do I
want more of, and what do I wantless of.
And when you all have that infront of you, that will really
guide you to know what yourintention for the next year can
be.
Of course, you can have multipleintentions, but I'll invite you
to start small and um thinkabout what you do want more of.

(20:21):
So that's step two.
Step two is name what you wantmore of.
And I already told you a littlebit about that, how we do it in
bullet journaling, but we'lltake it a little bit smaller
now, and we'll use the exampleof the wishes that were shared
in the business circle group.

(20:42):
So here are some prompts thatconnect to that example.
Where do you want more ease?
Where do you want more courage?
Where do you want morestillness?
What kind of time do you want toprotect?
And what do you want to release?
Thinking, so it's an openquestion.
Actually, a lot of that is alsocoaching questions, and you can

(21:05):
self-coach on this.
And then when you've done thatwork, you can choose in step
three one or two intentions.

You can phrase them in this way: In the new year, I intend to. (21:14):
undefined
Now, examples could be create aslower rhythm between work and
rest.
Be braver in the new year, Iintend to be braver in choosing
what I truly want.
In the new year, I intend togive myself permission to say no

(21:37):
sooner.
In the new year, I intend tomake space for creativity.
Here's the banger, withoutguilt.
So, who is feeling like I'mtalking to them?
You can say me.
Step four.
And then it's time to anchorthem, to really let them drop.

(21:59):
So you can either write it inyour journal, um, you can add it
to your phone wallpaper.
I think a really nice way ofdoing that is going to Pinterest
and making collage.
So make a collage on Pinterestand add it to your phone
wallpaper, or just make adrawing, take a picture, do

(22:20):
that.
Anything, like needlepoint it,whatever's your thing, write a
song about it.
You can just simply put it on apost-it by your desk on the
fridge.
You can share it with someone inyour community just so you have
some accountability and you cancheck in with each other, and

(22:40):
um, you can use it as a compassfor the decisions you make.
Should or should I not get thisnew thing or accept this new
offer or just keep it next toyour intention?
Does it fit my intention?

(23:01):
Will it get me to where I wantto be and to how I want to be in
the world and live my life thisyear?
I'm aware that the intentionsthat I gave as an example are
very specific, and you mightneed more in one year.
So you could do different onesor you can do a bigger one.
Like for me in the last year in2025, my intention, and it might

(23:28):
sound very vague to you, but itis my intention.
So just saying this year, Iintend to cultivate harmony and
balance across all areas of mylife, and then I went into
explaining mental and physicalhealth, business and family, my

(23:49):
values, connecting, symbioticrelationships with myself,
others, nature, and the work Ido.
It was also very much aroundcaring and growing from planting
the flax that I had planted andgrowing it and caring for the
puppy.
And it was basically all aboutthe connectedness of life and

(24:12):
how I feel like if things areconnected and balanced rather
than separated from each other,that is feels like it is more
connected to who I am as aperson.
And it's that's why the wholething of work-life balance.

(24:33):
To me, when I talk about it, Idon't think about a container
for work and a container forlife unless that's what you
need.
For me, it means that it'smoving symbiotically with each
other.
Oh, that's a whole differentepisode.
But so I did a little drawingactually in my bullet journal to

(24:53):
kind of visualize thatintention, which is and I hold
it up to the camera.
It's a tree, and the roots andthe canopy, the top of the tree
and the bottom of the tree, lookexactly the same.
There are branches branching outand roots branching out, and
there's a trunk in between.

(25:15):
So they're the same thing.
And I try to use that as acompass this year, and honestly,
I don't think next year will bemuch different for me because I
still feel like it's the sameintention for me, and I don't
need to revise it if it's stillfitting, but I'll take the time

(25:36):
to think about it and see ifit's still fitting.
So yeah, that is hopefullyhelpful to you, and I would love
