The Miyazawa family (father Mikio, mother Yasuko, 8 year old daughter Niina, and 6 year old son Rei) were getting ready for bed the night before ringing in the new millennium in the Tokyo suburb of Setagaya on December 30, 2000. And a man would then mysteriously break into their home and murder them one by one in cold blood. But unlike any other murderer, this unknown suspect did not do a single thing to get rid of the evidence. In fact, he left behind mounds of evidence and DNA. Amongst the evidence left behind were the clothing he was wearing and the murder weapon. And unlike other murderers, this suspect also seemingly never murdered anyone ever again in the next 24 years. Unfortunately with 16,000 articles of logged evidence, this suspect has eluded Japan’s the 280,000 investigators who have been assigned to this case during that entire time. This is case of the Setagaya Murders.
