(00:00):
I was a soldier who spent12 years in combat zones
in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.
And now I walk a spiritual pathand I get to talk to people
like you every single week.
Have you ever felt likethere's something more to life
than what's on the surface?
That beneath all this hustleand noise, there's a deeper,
more meaningful path?
If you've ever since this callto explore beyond the ordinary

(00:21):
and step into this extraordinarypersonal discovery, you're not
by yourself.
You're not alone.
And today, I'm going toguide you A path that promises
to transform your life from theinside out.
And you'll awaken to a lifefilled with deeper meaning
and peace.
I'm also going to tell youwhich step I think is most often

(00:43):
overlooked, and it's onethat I think can derail people
the fastest.
before we get into the eightsteps on how we're going
to start your awakening,I feel like it's important
for you to understandwhat spiritual awakening is
all about, and it'sgoing to vary from person
to person, but there areoverlapping consistencies
in what you might expectand see and feel, and we need to

(01:06):
set a base or a foundationthat you can build from
being able to see your sensewhere you're going to be going
is this really powerful thing.
I personally describedmy awakening event as having
ultimate clarityor understanding
of the universe, and I reallythink it's just that
simple for me, and I.
I don't know a better wayto describe it, but for

(01:28):
discussion sake, I think we haveto expand on that because I
don't think that's enough.
There's an expansionof consciousness.
It's moving beyond the everydaysense of self where you
experience at greaterand more connect and have
this awareness of your true selfin the universe.
you'll have increasedperception, experiencing
heightened sensory, emotionaland intuitive perceptions

(01:52):
of the world around you.
Things that are happeningdeep inside of yourself,
which is that connectionto the universe.
You're going to havea greater sense of all that
you're going to havea better idea of inner peace
and what true calm reallylooks like.
It's this enduring peaceand calmness that persist
through all of these challengesthat you face in life.

(02:13):
So as you are faced with thingsin life that are difficult,
you're going to find yourselfmore resilient.
You're going to have insightinto universal truth,
gaining insight into life, existence and just these things
that govern your reality.
There's a sense of empathyand compassion that comes along
with awakening.
It's an increased senseof these things towards others.

(02:34):
And I think it's probably drivenby this interconnectedness
that you will feel when you'remore awake.
There's a transcendence ofthat ego in the mind
where you're less attachedto materialistic things,
and these things that areassociated with your
physical self and the egoand mind.
They're so loudin our day to day life,
they're always talking to usand they're telling us all

(02:57):
these things are trying tokeep us alive.
They're really good at that.
It's a super important function,but they overperform.
And so as you start to wake up,you start to realize that
your mind and egoare way too noisy and that
you kind of needto set them aside a little bit,
still listen to them, buthave them kind of in a corner,
kind of in a moredisciplined way.
You're going to seea realignment of values

(03:18):
and beliefs and a shiftin priorities towards
more fulfilling purposes.
And this can lead to prettysignificant lifestyle changes.
And you might see a senseof purpose and direction.
And this is usually whereyou're going to see
something like higher purposeor your dharma.
You know, what you're meantto do in this world.
I kind of think we all havethis one unique thing that's,

(03:40):
you know, specific to usthat we're meant to do
in the world.
And so as you start tospiritually awaken, you start
to come into focus of whatthat thing is specifically
for you, where your higherpurpose is.
You're going to havean enhanced, intuition
and enhance creativity.
Your creativity is this baseuniversal thing.
And so is intuition.
again, going back to thatmind and ego that are

(04:01):
telling you things that are kindof important to keep you alive,
you know, watch out for this.
Oh, hey, go over here.
Don't go over there.
You know, some important stuff.
But your intuition is thatgut feeling that is separate
from your mind, and you go, it'sthat connection to the universe
to saying, this is what you knowis the right way.
So you kind of learn to listento that and be able to hear it
in a much more, intentional andclear way.

(04:24):
And so now we're goingto get into what these eight
steps are.
But before we move on,please subscribe by hitting
the watermark in the lowerright hand corner of this video
and share this with your friendsor family who you think
might benefit from it.
We're always trying to helppeople out.
That's what our channelis all about.
So step one is becoming aware.
Awareness is this crazy thing.
It's easily right therewithin our grasp, but we don't

(04:47):
reach out to it.
We know it's there, but we don'tuse it often.
We we move through life withoutbeing aware of how we're moving
through life or whatwe're doing, and we're reacting
to things without consideringhow are reacting or why
we're reacting in a certain way.
And if we can slow things down, then suddenly we see that

(05:11):
all we ever have is thispresent moment.
Mike here now, like you watchingthis video and being here
listening to me and like,we're having this kind
of connection, this momentis present moment
that that's life.
And everything happens here, right now, in this moment.
All the other stuff thatthat was or may be, it doesn't

(05:33):
matter.
And awareness is this habit.
there's a trick to it whereyou have to become aware
that you need to be aware.
And I think maybe that soundsa little strange or impossible,
but it isn't.
It just takes practice.
So try and set something outthat will remind you
to be aware.
It could be a stone Buddha,or across some type of crystal,

(05:55):
or a necklace.
It doesn't really matterwhat it is.
It only mattersthat you remember to be aware
and stay in this present moment.
That's where spiritualityhappens and happens when
you're present.
Because regardless ofwhere you think you're going
or where you think you might getto, it's hardly ever going

(06:15):
to look like what you think.
And so if we don'tenjoy the journey along the way,
then we're just kind ofwasting away our life
or wishing it away because we'reso focused on something else.
So we really have to appreciatethis present moment.
There's deep spiritual thingsthat happen when we're here
in the present.
Step two is setting intentionswork to establish a clear goal

(06:37):
that guides your spiritualpractices and your daily life
choices.
This isn't some fleetingor passing things.
This is not a this isn't a whim.
It's your mission and somethingthat you have resolve in.
And so ask yourselfwhat's moving you and
motivating you to pursuethis path to seek spiritual

(06:58):
awakening.
Do you want it?
Do you need it?
And try to ensure that yourintentions align with your
core values and yourhigher beliefs?
They are you living what you, what you are meant to live,
as far as what you valueand what you believe.
And you're going to havethis resolve.

(07:19):
But you also have to be dynamicand adaptable because
things change.
The universe is always changing.
The universe is alwaysin motion.
So be open to the universe, and you got to put yourself
out there and receive modeand don't have this
predetermined expectation aboutwhat this is going to look like,
because we really don't knowwhat the universe is going

(07:39):
to send our way.
We may ask the universefor something and it may
send it, but we're looking forsomething else.
So embrace change and be inthe rhythm and flow of
the universe and regularlyreflect on your intention,
this mission that you're on,and see how the progress
is going and reaffirmyour commitment and make

(08:00):
adjustments.
And remember thatthose adjustments are critical
because they're just adjustmentsas you walk down this path.
And there might be somethingin the way.
So just notice it and movearound it or under it or over it
or through it, and maybeeven write down what
your intention here is like.
I'm on the spiritual path.
I'm seeking spiritual awakening, however you see it.

(08:22):
And then after you've written itdown, speak it out loud
each morning.
The spoken word has thisgreat power.
And so when you speak thingsout loud, you speak them
into existence.
They're far morelikely to happen.
Step three is creating asacred space.
It's important to creatededicated spaces for your
spiritual practice.
You have to choose the rightlocation.

(08:43):
Select something and some placeis quiet, undisturbed.
Some place probably in your homethat feels comforting
and secure.
You want to feel safe.
There, and it could be asmall corner of a room.
A whole room could be part ofyour garden.
You know, I've set up spacein my closet, and it was
this great, amazing place.
I felt safe there.

(09:04):
it was clean.
It was.
It was simple.
And I was able to get a lotof reflection done there.
And so clearing cleanseyour space.
You might, start by physicallyclean the area up, make it
organized, make it approachable.
You can even spirituallycleanse it, with maybe
some sage.
And then personalize your spacedecorated with stuff that has

(09:24):
significance to you.
This could be pictures,crystals, stones,
statues, candles or almostanything that is important
to you.
And you can addnatural elements.
Maybe you have some plantsor maybe some water features.
Maybe a little portablefountain.
Something that createsthis grounded atmosphere because

(09:45):
it's always really greatto be connected to the
natural world.
You have pillows and clothto make it as comfortable
as possible.
You want this spaceto be so inviting and welcoming
that you want to go there.
You seek it out.
You can set up lighting so thatthe ambiance is exactly
what you need it to be for youto be centered and happy.
So whatever that levelof lighting is, use that

(10:07):
and make that happen.
Consider what sound you'll haveavailable.
This could be something likesoothing music, nature sounds,
guided meditations.
You might even play aninstrument, something like
a panda drum.
and keep this space sacred.
Set boundaries around this spaceso that you're able to maintain
your spiritual connection to it.
and just make it somethingthat is just yours.

(10:29):
And other peoplemay come and go, but make sure
that you have this attachmentto it.
We have a whole videoon creating your own rituals,
and if you're interested, please click on a watermark
in the upper right hand cornerof this video and check it out.
It's really, important for youto create something that works
best for you, because whatworks best for me, or what works
best for someone else may not bethe best thing for you.

(10:51):
Step four is daily meditation.
It's hard to reachthat awakening point
if you don't work to connectwith yourself in your base
consciousness every single day.
And we're talking about thatinner self, or that divine thing
inside of you that connects youto the universe.
There's hundreds of waysthat you can meditate, and
what meditation works bestfor you is kind of like what

(11:13):
I just said with rituals.
the meditation that worksbest for you might not be
what works best for the personnext to you.
And so remember that meditatingdoesn't have to look like
any single thingthat you've been presented
with in movies or books.
There's no right or wrongway to meditate, and meditation
isn't something that'salways easy to get into.

(11:33):
And so I want you to knowthat it sometimes requires
this intent to setall this noise aside.
That's in the world around youand inside of you.
There's all this externaldistraction and noise
that you have from yourdigital devices or people
who want your attention, yourrelationships.
There's internal distractionsfrom your mind and your inner
monologue that's noisy stuff.

(11:55):
And so when yousit with yourself and you
begin this process of stillness, you have to face yourself.
And you know that canbe uncomfortable.
It can even be really difficult.
It can be a little scary.
And I think we can admit thatto ourselves.
I think sometimes we have tohave that that vulnerability
in ourselves and for ourselves, because that's how
we get through to the otherside.

(12:16):
And during these initial periodsof meditation, you are
going to face theseuncomfortable aspects
of yourself and maybe stufffrom the past.
It might be anxietyabout the future.
And we have a pretty great videoon getting started in
meditation, and you cancheck it out by hitting
the watermark in the upperright hand corner of this video.
It can really helpyou get started, but what

(12:37):
I would encourage you to dois figure out what works
best for you and just start.
Commit yourself to justfive minutes a day
for a whole week, and thencommit yourself to ten minutes
a day for the week after that.
See where this takes youand give it a real chance.
Like be true to yourselfand be true to the process

(12:58):
and make this effort.
Stay consistent for yourself.
Be patient and have gracefor yourself.
Understand this is okay.
This is hard.
Where I didn't get throughthe whole five minutes, or
I felt like I wasted the wholefive minutes.
That's okay.
Keep doing it.
there's a lot to be said for nothaving success the first time,
or not having this thing be whatyou thought it was going to be

(13:18):
the first time, and stickingwith it.
That's how you start somethingspecial.
That's how you startthis journey of a thousand
miles, right?
You have to take thatfirst step, but you have
to also take the next step.
It's not just about taking thatfirst step, it's about taking
the next step and the stepafter that.
So commit to that.
Commit yourself to takingthose steps.

(13:38):
And I definitely recommendthat you start with something
like maybe guided meditations.
You can use an app like InsightTimer.
It's free and easy to use,and it can really help you start
this part of your journey.
And I'm not affiliatedwith Insight Timer in any type
of way.
It just works great.
And like I said, it's free.
Step five is educating yourself.
You never stop learning.

(13:59):
It's a keystone to both personaland spiritual growth.
After I had my awakening,I think I read it over to 60
books in four months.
That's all I did.
I just read, and as I readI would rotate between
the Abrahamic religions,Hinduism, the eastern faiths,
indigenous traditions, paganism,philosophy, New Age
spirituality, self-help.

(14:19):
I mean, I would rotatethrough all these
different genres, and thenI would just kind of go back
to the beginning and readdifferent books from all those
different genres again.
And I wanted to understandall the different possible paths
for my spiritual journey,because I didn't know where I
was going to go.
And I wanted to be able to speakto people like you in terms

(14:42):
that you'd understandand relate to.
You know, regardless of whatpart of the world you're from
or what spiritual philosophythat you believe in.
I wanted to be able to have thatconversation, and you never
know what's going tospeak to you.
You never know what messageyou're going to hear that
resonates with you.
Because, you know, we hearall these different things

(15:02):
from across the worldin different sources.
That's what makes, you know, spirituality and religion,
all around the worldso powerful.
There's all this differentstuff and, half our videos,
on this channel, our spiritualdiscussions about our journey
and what it is and whereit may go.
And the other half of our videoson our channel are about books,

(15:24):
these books on spirituality, religion, philosophy, self-help.
please check, our videos out.
We have a playlist for eachof these.
One's called your spiritualJourney and the other
is our Beyond the Book series.
So go out and read booksfor yourself as well.
There's so much amazingwisdom out there and the
overall theme here againis step five.

(15:44):
Never stop learning, always belearning.
it's really going to progressyou down your path and really
strengthen what you see in thespiritual realm.
Step six is reflectionand journaling.
And as you're doingall the things that we've
already talked about,it's important to have
perspective and reflect on howyour journey is going as you're

(16:06):
doing it.
Are you happy?
Are you sad?
Are you in the flow?
Are you frustrated?
And be honest with yourselfand consider journaling
about your experiences.
And there's few thingsthat you're going
to do as you're walking downthis path that can be
as powerful as journaling.
When you speak to yourself, you have this uncanny ability

(16:27):
to work through things.
You'll discover pathsthat you didn't even know
existed, and you'll be ableto identify obstacles that
you couldn't see.
And I just want to give youa few journaling prompts
that you could usealong the way.
These are just suggestions.
You can find more online.
how am I feeling today? Really?
What emotions are surfacingand what might be

(16:49):
triggering them?
You can write something on that.
You can also write somethingabout.
Am I feeling in sync with myspiritual practices?
What aspects of my journeyfeel flowing, and where am I
encountering resistance?
Another one could be.
What challenges have Ifaced recently in my spiritual
practices?
How have I address thesechallenges and what have I
learned from them?

(17:10):
Another one could be inwhat areas of my life
am I struggling to be honestwith myself?
How can I confrontthese truths to foster growth?
So there's just a few promptsthat you can use as you're
kind of reflectingon the journey you're taking,
and how you can make adjustmentsthat work best for you.
Step seven is findinga community or a support group.

(17:33):
People often believe thatthe spiritual path has to be
this lonely thing, that couldn'tbe further from the truth.
And I it's a commonmisconception.
spirituality will always besomething that is
deeply personal to each person.
People can be completelyempowered with themselves
and still reach out to a groupor a community to have
meaningful discussions, and what works for someone

(17:55):
might not work for you, butit might inform your
own practice or philosophy in ameaningful way.
we're communal tribal creatures,we just have to find
good communitiesand good tribes, and
we don't have to to fight that.
We can embrace it, andthen we're going to come out
stronger for ourself.
And Kishar is a nonprofit, online spiritual community

(18:18):
that sponsors this channel.
We have discussions and workon subjects like this every day.
And if you head over tokishar.org you can join
our community.
I encourage you to go over thereand join up.
But regardless, try andfind warmth with others
as you walk your path.
Wherever you find it, just findsomeone out there that can
can discuss this with youand help you.
Step eight being groundedin your day to day.

(18:40):
I told you I'd let you know whatI thought the most
overlooked step was on the pathto spiritual awakening.
And it's this step.
If you aren't groundedin your daily life, it's
going to be tremendouslydifficult to find your way down
your spiritual path.
We're talking about thingslike sleep and nutrition,
fitness, relationships,finances, and everything

(19:01):
else that we're managing everysingle day.
When you're centered andgrounded and your routines
and habits, suddenly you haveall this space to be spiritual
and you have time tobe spiritual.
And I call these daily thingsin our life the life blocks,
because these blocks of lifecreate this amazing foundation
for us.
and when they'reall in alignment, we're going to

(19:22):
be more prone to be calm, peaceful, and joyful.
It really superchargesyour spiritual journey.
So again, the eight steps arebecoming aware.
Setting your intentions.
Creating a sacred space, meditating daily, educating
yourself.
Reflecting and journaling.

(19:43):
Having a community and beinggrounded in your day to day.
If you do those things, you're going to find your way
to awakening.
You're going to find your wayto peace.
You're going to find your wayto this amazing letting go
and surrender where you'recompletely connected
with the onenessof the universe.

(20:03):
It's something that I hopethat each of you are able to do.
I hope that each of you are ableto find your way and
I would encourage each of you toto take this journey
at your own pace.
Don't feel like you haveto get there tomorrow
or next week.
You know it happenswhen it happens and enjoy
the journey along the way.
Again, if you're not enjoyingthe process, it's going to

(20:26):
be harder.
And so what's your ownexperience with spiritual
awakening?
And have you had an awakening?
Are you moving anywhere?
Are you moving towards anawakening?
And how do you thinkthat these steps can help you
on your spiritual journey?
Please hit me up in the commentsand I will absolutely
get back to you.
I feel like what I wantto do here is have
a conversation with you, then have a two way

(20:48):
conversation.
So please comment.
Let's talk about it.
please like this video.
If you want us to keepmaking content just like this.
And until next time,I wish you peace
on your journey.
