Speaker 1 (00:00):
When's the last time
you had a pep talk?
Pep talk, pep talk, yo.
When's the last time you had apep talk?
Has it been a minute?
That's okay, you're in theright place.
I've got you.
Welcome to pep talk.
And on today's episode, I'm justso filled with gratitude and
I'll tell you why in just amoment, but for now, let's get
it.
Welcome to Pep Talk, episode 75.
(00:31):
This is the podcast that cheersyou on and coaches you up.
I'm your host, coach J, a lifecoach in Dallas-Fort Worth, and
I'm so glad to have you with ustoday for, again, the 75th
episode of a podcast that westarted back in January of 2023.
And today is a very specialepisode because, for the
(00:54):
foreseeable future, this is thelast episode of Pep Talk.
Now, that's not saying thatepisodes won't come here and
there over the course of howeverlong, but as far as weekly
episodes, this is the last peptalk, and I know it sounds
really really sudden.
I know it sounds abrupt, butthis is something that I have
(01:20):
been thinking about and prayingabout for a very long time.
I was having a discussion withmy pastor and one of the things
that he always says is that youknow that it's time to leave a
thing, to make a change when thevision and the creativity that
you had for something, it nolonger exists.
(01:41):
Now I'm not talking about yourspouse, right, okay?
I'm talking about things thatwe like to do, and as far as
this podcast is gone, I think, for the time being at least, the
(02:19):
vision and the creativity andthe drive it's abandoned me, and
I think that that is a clearindicator that my grace for this
project is microphone for justa little while and to really
begin to lean into what is nextfor my life and what is next for
(02:39):
the life of my family.
Podcasting is this.
This round of podcasting for mehas been an incredible ride.
If you've been with us sincethe beginning, you know that
this is my actually my thirdpodcast, but my second serious
podcast.
The first one was called theY-Cast and it only went about
(03:00):
eight or nine episodes before westopped back in 2019.
This one for it to get to 75episodes for me.
It's taught me a couple ofthings.
The first thing is that I coulddo it.
I proved to myself that I couldgrab onto something and that I
could stick with it, but it'salso taught me that I have the
(03:24):
ability to do this.
I have the ability to use myvoice as a means, as a vehicle
of helping people, and I knowthat because so many of you have
told me in person or sentemails or sent messages where
you've told me that somethingthat was in that particular
week's podcast led you to sometype of a breakthrough or led
(03:48):
you to make a different decisionor led you to make you know a
different choice than you wouldhave made, and I think that that
is incredible.
I think it is absolutelyincredible.
Now, I know I had grand designsof becoming a ranked podcast on
Apple and on Spotify.
I know that I had a goaloriginally that I wanted to get
(04:08):
to 100 podcasts and then apodcast episode and then
reevaluate.
But goals change and if there'sone thing that I have learned
is that we have to be flexible, because we never know what's
coming down the pike.
We never know what God is goingto present us with, what life
is going to present us with, andwe have to always be prepared
(04:32):
to to readjust Right.
We have to be prepared toreadjust, to take stock of where
we are and to think beyondourselves into what might be the
greater good.
Now I don't make thisannouncement under any delusion,
(04:53):
right, we have had fairlyconsistent listenership since
the beginning.
Our episodes generally getbetween 25, 20, between 20 to 30
listens or downloads perepisode, which you know may not
be big in the grand scheme, butit's big for me.
(05:14):
If I were given a talk and 20 or30 people showed up, I'd be
pretty ecstatic.
I'd be pretty ecstatic aboutthat.
But it's those of you who havecontinued just to hang, it's
those of you who've continued tolisten to entire episodes, to
give me your thoughts, to tellme what's worked for you, to
tell me what you wanted to seeincluded.
Yo, my heart is filled withgratitude and it's not really a
(05:35):
bittersweet thing.
It's not really a bittersweetthing.
I'm not bitter about it BecauseI believe that, no matter where
life takes me, no matter whatroad I end up on, no matter what
happens, I know that I willstill be doing things that line
up with my core values, whichare to motivate, to inspire and
(05:59):
to encourage.
And so, no matter what I do, nomatter where I land, no matter
what happens next, those are mycore values, and so everything
that I do is going to be builtupon those things.
And so who knows where you'llsee me next, who knows where
you'll hear my voice next?
I'm still going to be lookingto do different podcasts and, as
(06:23):
I do, I'll share those out onmy socials, but for now, this is
to quote one of my favoriteBoyz II Men songs the end of the
road.
And so I want to thank you.
I want to thank you.
I want to thank you.
I want to thank you.
I want to thank you If you'veever listened to just a second.
(06:44):
If you've listened, you knowcountless minutes and hours from
the content that we have.
Thank you If you've everencouraged me to keep going.
Thank you If you've told me Ineed to quit.
Thank you, I appreciate eachand every one of you from the
bottom of my heart.
I pray blessings upon yourfamilies.
(07:07):
I pray blessings upon you sideof you.
I pray that it will begin tospeak to you and that you would
have clarity over the next stepsthat you need to make in order
to live out the life ofadventure that God has ordained
for each and every one of us tolive.
Whether you have everythingthat you need or not.
(07:31):
I hope that you will have thecourageous obedience that my
wife and I are working towardthat.
We're working in right now todo what you're called to do and
to be obedient with what you'vebeen charged to be obedient with
.
You are great, you areincredible, and the world needs
(07:52):
to see your greatness and yourbrilliance.
So don't hold it to yourselves.
Share it with everyone that youmeet and just go.
Have the life that you weremeant to have, and with that
y'all.
This has been episode 75 of PepTalk, the last episode for now,
and so, for the last time, Iwant to tell you that I love you
(08:15):
.
I think that you are meant forincredible things, and y'all
know how we end it.
We're going to sign off for thelast time.
Keep it love, keep it light andkeep it peppy.
Y'all be blessed.
