Hello everybody and welcome to this episode of the
Permission to Love podcast.
I'm your host, jerry Henderson, and, as always, I am so
grateful that you're here Now.
Today we're going to jump rightinto it, because this episode
is going to be a little bitdifferent.
Why?
Because today I want to talk toyou about something that's been
growing on my heart for a whilea bit of a shift, and what it

(00:24):
really is is an expansion ofthis podcast and the community
that we've been buildingtogether.
Now, first, I want to say thankyou to all of you.
If you've been here for a while, you know that this space, this
podcast, was born from a verydeep place within me, the part

(00:45):
of me that had to learn how tolove myself again, or maybe what
I should really say learn howto love myself for the first
time Now, throughout thispodcast journey over the last
two years, we've talked aboutthings like self-love, healing,
shame, healing from trauma, healing our relationship with
ourselves and then rewriting thestories that we inherited.

(01:08):
We've held space for the realthings, for the messy things,
for the beautiful things, forthe deeply human parts of us,
and becoming whole andunderstanding that there's not
anything wrong with us.
There's never been anythingwrong with us and that we can
learn how to give ourselves thepermission to love ourselves.
And guess what?

(01:28):
None of that is going anywhere.
But something new is calling.
It's calling to me and it'sbeen calling to you as listeners
, and I want to bring you withme on this journey together Now.
Over the past year, I've heardso many of you ask me for more,

(01:48):
not just more episodes, but moredepth, more tools, more real
talk about how to thrive inevery area of your life to
thrive emotionally, spiritually,mentally and relationally.
That request from you, thathunger, resonates also with
something deeply in me that I'vebeen feeling as well.

(02:10):
Because here's the truthSelf-love is absolutely
essential, and it is also thebeginning, it is the root system
from which everything grows.
You hear me say it all the timeright, the most important
relationship in our lives is theone that we have with ourselves

(02:31):
, and when that relationship ishealthy, everything else in our
life gets better.
It truly is the root systemfrom which everything else grows
, which then leads us to thetruth, right, of what grows from
that root as we get healthy.
When we've built a relationshipwith ourselves that's healthy,

(02:53):
what do you begin to build ontop of that, as you've reclaimed
your sense of self, your worth, you've had inner alignment and
you're on a growth journey whereyou want more and more of
learning how not just to survivebut to thrive.
And learning to love ourselvesis that big transition point

(03:16):
right when we can begin to giveourselves the permission to get
out of survival mode and moveinto the mode of thriving.
And so all of that leads me tothe transition, or the next
chapter for this podcast, beginning May 4th, which is
going to be almost two years tothe date when we first started

(03:37):
this podcast and started thisjourney together.
We started the podcast on May,the 17th of 2023.
So we're right there, at thatthreshold of almost two years,
and beginning on that day, may4th, we're going to transition
the podcast to a new name.
I wanted a name that capturedwhat I've been hearing from many

(04:00):
of you in your journey aroundhow you want to learn to thrive
in every area of your life.
So the new name of the podcastis going to be Personal Mastery
with Jerry Henderson, and ofcourse, I had to throw my name
on there so that you know it'sme, it's us, it's still our
journey together.
Now I know that that sounds bigand I know for me it brought up

(04:23):
a lot of emotions as I thoughtabout this transition, because
this journey has not only beentransformational for many of you
, it's been transformational forme.
It really has changed my life,as I've shared what has happened
as a part of my story, myjourney, my healing, and then

(04:44):
beginning to see how many of youhave been on that path and that
journey together and how thispodcast has served you on that
path, and so it has becomesomething that is a very dear
expression not only of myself, but of you as well, as you've
shared with me your comments asyou've reached out through email
or on Instagram, or you'veshown up as your comments, as

(05:05):
you've reached out through emailor on Instagram, or you've
shown up as a client in mycoaching program.
It has meant so much for me andI can't really understate how
much it's meant for me, and whenI say it has changed my life,
that's not an exaggeration.
It's made me more vulnerable,it's made me a better human,
it's made me show up as my best, authentic self.

(05:25):
Like who knew that starting apodcast could do so much in a
person's life, in a community'slife, and, as we continue to
grow it, the impact that it'sgoing to make in so many other
people's lives as well.
So what is personal mastery?
Well, personal mastery is aboutbecoming the kind of person who

(05:46):
can meet life from a positionof thriving, of power, of peace,
of purpose.
It's about aligning your innerworld so that your outer world
becomes an honest reflection ofwho you truly are.
It's about giving yourself thatpermission to live in authentic
alignment.
It's about giving yourself thatpermission to live an authentic
alignment.
It's about doing the work tobuild a life not from

(06:10):
performance but from presence, not from ego but from truth.
It's not about perfection, it'sabout integrity.
It's not about grinding to bemore.
It's about becoming more of youto be more.
It's about becoming more of you.
So, everything you've lovedabout this podcast, the reason

(06:33):
that you're here, whether it'sthe focus of learning how to
heal from trauma and overcomeshame and get a healthy
relationship with ourselves andself-love, self-acceptance,
self-compassion all of that isstill here and all of that is
the foundation that we're nowexpanding on.
I talk often aboutself-expansion, and personal
mastery is about selfself-expansion, and that's what

(06:55):
we're going to continue to focuson, because that's what I think
of when I think about personalmastery or self-mastery, I think
about all of those things andthen allowing that right to
flourish in our life.
It's about mindset, it's aboutresilience, it's about alignment
internally.
It's about building healthy,thriving, life-giving

(07:18):
relationships, including the onethat we have with ourselves.
It's about presence, authenticpresence, and living within the
present moment of experiencingthe life that we have, learning
to fall in love with it andshare it with other people.
It's about purpose, our soul'scalling right To have meaning,

(07:39):
to have fulfillment, to make adifference in this life, to
leave a legacy, to have impact.
It's about taking the storythat we have and continuing to
see something beautiful emergefrom it, and then also adding
some really practical skills andtools in that space to help you
, as a listener, continue tothrive.

(08:00):
So what can you expect over thenext few weeks as we make this
transition?
Well, in the upcoming episodes,we're going to be talking about
how to master your mindset andyour emotional patterns,
building emotional resilience,emotional regulation, emotional
intelligence, how to buildresilience in uncertain times,

(08:21):
how to live with presence, as Ishared, with alignment with soul
, and how to embody the fullestversion of yourself in your
personal life, in yourrelationships, in love, in
business and in your lifeholistically.
So, whether you're a highachiever who feels misaligned
you've achieved success but itfeels empty or you're struggling

(08:41):
with things like impostersyndrome, or you're still trying
to heal your motivations.
That may be rooted in shame, may be rooted in not feeling
like you're enough and so it'scausing you to burn out.
Or you're pushing yourself somuch that it's burning through
your relationships or yourhealth or whatever it is.
Or whether you're a personwho's on a journey, who's trying

(09:03):
to find clarity around yourlife and what's next.
As you're on this healingjourney, understanding that you
don't want to stay stuck.
You don't want to stay whereyou are, but you need the
practical tools right.
You're not drawn to highperformance coaching because
that maybe feels like a grind toyou or it hasn't really helped
you with all the mindset tricks, etc.

(09:24):
Or you have found that therapy, while it's been good, hasn't
helped you figure out how tomove forward, how to walk
towards your future.
Well, this podcast and our nextchapters is going to be a mix of
that.
How can you succeed?
How can you thrive?
How you can grow and achieveand do the things that you want

(09:47):
to do, and do them from a placeof health and, at the same time,
dealing with the psychologicalroots, dealing with the stories
and the narratives that trip usup, and learning to heal all of
that.
So the vision really is acombination of not having to
give up on all the things thatwe want to do with our life
because we feel like that'sbecome a grind and maybe it's
burned us out or we've even gotburned out on a healing journey

(10:10):
and trying to grow.
So we want to hold space forall of that right, knowing that
we have so much potential, somuch growth that we can do such
an impact that we can make onthis planet, but doing it from a
healthy place, doing it from alife-giving place that is
aligned with who you are, andalso combined with
evidence-based strategies,practices, resources that are

(10:32):
rooted in psychology, rooted inthe research around human
behavior and what actuallycauses us to change.
So all of that is the vision forthis podcast as we begin to
move forward and I hope thatyou're as excited about it as I
am and, if you are, this podcastis going to continue to be a
safe place for you to show up,to learn, to grow and become the

(10:57):
very best version of who youwant to be in this life, to
create the life that you know, that you want, that you believe
and you know that you're worthyof.
Now, practically if you'resubscribed or you're following
this podcast, don't worry, nothing's going to change on
your end.
You're just going to noticethat the title changes, the

(11:17):
thumbnail changes and thecontent will begin to expand
into some of these other topicsabout whole life thriving on
personal mastery, and over thenext few weeks, you're going to
continue to hear me talk aboutthis transition.
Some announcements on it, right, because I want every listener
to get the opportunity to hearabout this transition before it

(11:40):
goes live on May 4th.
I'll also be sharing more aboutthis transition through my
newsletter, on my social mediaoutlets, and so you can see some
of that as well, so you'll behearing about it pretty
regularly from me over the nextfew weeks.
Now, the other thing that you'regoing to start hearing more
about from me is around a newframework that I've developed,

(12:02):
called the Personal MasteryFramework.
It's a coaching program or acoaching framework that's built
on six pillars.
The first one is mindset, orthe psychology of happiness and
success.
The second one is resilience,or the science of emotional
mastery.
The third one is presence, developing the ability to be
present, or the science ofemotional mastery.
The third one is presence, developing the ability to be

(12:23):
present, or the art of beingable to live fully.
Fourth one alignment, or thatpath to authentic living where
our external world is alignedwith what we feel internally.
Fifth one connection, or thegift of belonging, to reconnect
with others around us, startingwith ourselves.

(12:44):
And then the sixth pillarpurpose, or the soul's calling
how to live a life of legacy, meaning, fulfillment and impact.
A lot of the things that I'vetalked about in this podcast
episode already.
And this framework it's veryintentional, it's
research-backed, evidence-basedin psychology, human behavior

(13:04):
theory, neuroscience.
It's about how can you createsustainable success because, as
I've shared with many of youright where trauma actually will
birth a high achiever or birthour desire to want to accomplish
things in life or overcome thisfeeling that there's something
wrong with us.
But trauma also can rob us ofthriving resilience.

(13:26):
We have survival resilience, but we don't have thriving
resilience, and so this program, very intentional, as I
mentioned before, you know, alot of coaching in the high
performance space is abouthelping you succeed.
Space is about helping yousucceed, and therapy is about
helping you heal.
This framework is designed to doboth, and it's built on and
comes through all of the workthat I've been doing at Harvard

(13:48):
University and, if I could sumit up, it really is about
healing and creating the lifethat feels as good on the inside
as it starts to look on theoutside, or as it does look on
the outside.
Right, you know my story.
My outward life looked like Ihad it all together, but
inwardly I was falling apart, and so this coaching program is

(14:11):
for those of you who've said youknow what I want to build a
life where I'm thriving, and Ineed some tools to do that, and
I also need the tools to heal.
I need strategies to know howto figure out, how to build that
life that I want.
Or you're also saying, hey,I've built that life, but I'm
finding that I'm struggling withthings internally, that success

(14:34):
doesn't feel like success.
Right, I thought success wasgoing to make me somebody or
make me feel whole, or successor achievements were going to
heal me, and it didn't.
This framework is designedspecifically to address those
topics, and so it is a uniquepositioning that I've not found
anywhere else, and it's one ofthe things that I wish I would

(14:55):
have had years ago in my journeyto combine the two things
together.
So it really does meet a veryunique gap that's missing.
All the research that I've done, everything I've looked at,
this gap is out there.
It's not being met, and so it'swhy I created the Personal
Mastery Framework.
So this program is for theperson who wants more than just

(15:19):
results, who wants to feelgrounded, confident and deeply
aligned in your work, yourrelationships and your entire
life.
So if you're ready to stopchasing and you want to start

the next right step for you onyour journey.
