Speaker 1 (00:45):
Thank you, hello and
welcome to the Pig and Whistle
Tales from Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stormwind, I go
for a variety of subjects withregards to World of Warcraft, so
grab a bottle or a pint, sitback and enjoy this episode.
(01:06):
We'll be going over a fewquestions that I have been asked
recently with regards to WoW,and these range from many
different things.
They range from absolutelyeverything, and I've picked out
several that I'm going to gothrough today.
I have more just in case needed, but I don't think that will be
so.
(01:26):
We'll start off with the weeklynews.
As always, you have Kordak, kordak, kordak, not Kordog,
that's a me writing that downwrong there.
Kordak and the Gobfather asyour world bosses for the week.
Kordak can be located withinthe Isle of Dawn yes, I think
(01:48):
that was it.
Isle of Dawn slash Kazalgar.
I think the entire island iscalled Kazalgar.
So Isle of Dawn, the Isle ofDawn and the Godfather in the
Undermine they all give decentgear, so make sure you do them
as well as, you know, a bit ofgold, maybe.
World quests are your bonusevent for this week.
This means that you get morereputation for completing world
quests.
This means that anything thatyou want to do reputation-wise
(02:13):
is now the week to do it.
Arathi Blizzard is your brawlfor the week.
This is simply Arathi Basin, but a little bit of a modified
version, where Arathi is a bitmore's say snowed in and it
means that you can't see about10 to 20 feet in front of you.
Something along them lines somakes it visibility very hard.
(02:34):
It means that communication isneeded to win these and it
genuinely is quite a nice littlechange to the scenery of Arathi
Basin.
So I would recommend checkingthat out when you can.
Of Arathi Basin.
So I would recommend checkingthat out when you can.
So the first one that I pickedout from a bunch of questions
was how do I get into WoW, andit's very tough one to answer
(02:56):
because it's kind of the same ashow you get into any game you
need to have a interest in itfirst.
So the interest in world ofwarcraft will be oh, do you like
casting spells?
Do you like um fantasy?
Do you like role playing?
Do you like pvp?
Do you like pve?
You enjoy, like any of thesesort of features, and if you
(03:23):
enjoy one of them but you don'tenjoy all of them, that's fine
as well.
You don't have to focus on allof them.
You can only focus on one thing.
If you like, play, let's say, afighting game, okay, like I
don't know mortal kombat orsomething, and you're like the
reason that you play these gamesis because you enjoy the
(03:46):
fighting aspect, you enjoy thewhole punching aspect of it, I
don't know.
Then you might want to pick upa monk or you might want to look
at a monk or something, andthat's amazing, like you are
more than welcome to.
But if you do it because of howthe gameplay is.
But if you do it because of howthe gameplay is, then you're
(04:07):
going to find it a bit difficultnow with any game.
The way that I find a new gamethat I enjoy is I look at the
style of the game.
So I just look at how it looks, firstly, and if I like the look
of it and it sort of capturesme, then I'm like, okay, let's
see what else this can sort ofentail.
Now you might think, oh, butevery game looks good now and
(04:28):
it's like, yes, they all lookgood in their own right, but
stylistically they're completelydifferent If you look at I
forget the name of the game.
Ok, let's go with Borderlands.
Ok, borderlands is very uniquein how it looks.
It's very cartoony and sort ofdrawn um to an extent, but it's
(04:52):
amazingly done.
If you compare this to world ofwarcraft, it's a completely
different skill.
Set um and look and thesethings all do add up.
They really really do, and itcan make or break the game for
someone.
So this is very important.
If you like the look of thegame, then it's a great start.
(05:14):
That's when you want to decideokay, what aspects of the game
do I actually think I will enjoy?
Will I enjoy the combat of this?
I don't really like having loadsof buttons to press.
That's fine.
Because you don't really likehaving loads of buttons to press
.
That's fine because you don'tneed to press loads of buttons.
Okay, you can press.
You can play something that hassort of less buttons.
(05:34):
If you want to do pve content, you can play a beast mastery
hunter or something, or a furywarrior.
That doesn't have many buttons.
Now, they do in their own rightwhen obviously you're playing
it to the highest level.
But if you want to do simpledamage, you press your avatar,
uh, and then you press your sortof blade storm or your
recklessness and your rampages.
(05:55):
It's kind of it blood thirst, wrecking blows, and you know
that's it, wrecking, blow, bloodthirst to get some rage and
then you press Rampage.
Yeah, that's kind of it For BMHunter, you would press a couple
of barbed shots, kill Command, barbed shots, kill Command, and
then your cooldowns.
You weave in between that withCall of the Wild, bestial, wrath
(06:16):
, etc.
So some classes do have lessbuttons to press than others,
which is really good.
And the best thing about WoW isthat it offers a lot of
different varieties when itcomes to gameplay.
Okay, you have your hunters, you have your mages, your
warlocks, your warriors, yourpaladins, your monks, your
(06:38):
druids, your priests.
You know, you've got manydifferent ways that you can play
.
You can be a melee, you can bea ranged, you can be a caster,
you can be a healer, you cantank melee.
You can be arranged, you can bea caster, you could be a healer
, you can tank, so you candecide if it is for you just
based on okay, there is a lot ofvariety.
This is the type of variety Ilike.
I like protecting my team, Ilike healing my team, you know,
(07:01):
okay, that's great.
We have these healer selectionor options for you that, being
evoker, monks, priests, you knowthere are a lot of options that
you can take, and the fact thatit isn't very linear in terms
of gameplay is what makes itkind of user-friendly at the
(07:22):
same time, but it doesn't also.
So, the more linear the game, obviously you hop in and you
just get taken through the storyand it's like yep, this is easy
, don't need to think aboutwhere I'm going, what I'm doing,
but because wow is a mmo andit's an open world um thing,
it's very much oh, okay, I'vegot this quest to do this, but
(07:46):
should I be doing this or shouldI be going to do something else
?
And then you wander off and yougo and find out oh okay, so
herbalism.
What do I do with this?
Oh, I go and pick up flowers.
Okay, these flowers can be usedfor alchemy and you know, these
multiple things can lead on,like before you finish in, like
this quest that you have in yourquest log.
(08:07):
So there is a real open elementto world of warcraft and I think
that this is how you get intoit you need to pick something
that you enjoy from the game orthat you think looks cool from
the game, and you have to gowith it.
You just got to go with it.
Okay, you got to trust your gut.
If you like the look of thegame, you've got to trust your
(08:28):
gut on it.
Yeah, if you second guess it,that's when it's like maybe I
don't know, and I get that.
Some people second guess itbecause they might not like the
subscription base to the wow, they might not like the artistic
style to the game, they mightnot like how it operates from a
fundamental level of WASD tomove around, mouse clicking kind
(08:51):
of deal.
But the best way to get intoWoW is honestly, don't look at
anything, because there is 20plus years now of information on
World of Warcraft online.
Okay, so you're just going toget absolutely swamped and in
over your head about it and youthink too much about it.
(09:13):
The best way to get into WoW isto jump on and play.
Ok, have an idea in mind onwhat you would enjoy, whether
that be a melee sort of a hitthem like face to face, a ranged
like attacker, a caster, acaster healer tank, all of that
kind of thing.
Have a thought on what youwould probably enjoy and just go
(09:37):
with it, first class.
You see that looks cool.
If you see that, like, you'vegot a row of classes at the
bottom and you see, yeah, I'llgo for paladin, that looks
really cool, great, do it.
Click on that little paladinicon, get your character
customized, name it and get inthere and see how it feels.
It's as, it's that simple and Iget that.
(09:58):
Some people do not like, um, thesubscription based stuff.
I get it.
I'm not a big fan as well, I,but the game is updated quite
regularly right now.
Okay, there have been points inwales history where the game
has not been, I will admit that, and that is really bad on their
part, but the game at themoment is being updated very
(10:19):
regularly, which is a very, verygood and this is what the
player base want.
But if you are unsure, uh, youalways have that 30 day free
trial.
Okay, so you can simply go onbattlenet and you should be able
to find world of warcraft sortof free trial free 30 day trial.
If you have a friend that playsworld of warcraft, they can um
(10:41):
send it to you via an email, Ibelieve.
So you get 30 days to test itout and once you've tested it
out, you can make that decisionof yeah, you know what?
I will give this game a go andI'll see how I go, because I
really enjoyed these 30 days, orthe amount of time that I got
to play in the game, which isgreat.
That's amazing.
So my advice you've just got tojump in.
(11:06):
Don't look at any info, justjump straight in.
I get that it's very dauntingbecause it's such a big game and
it's been out for years andyears.
I get how daunting that is.
You have to just try andovercome it.
You really really do, because, look, personally, I have never
(11:29):
played RuneScape.
No, I, no, I have playedrunescape, but very young.
Okay, it is a game that Iabsolutely would love to try.
I genuinely think it would, Iwould and I think that I would
enjoy it.
The reason that's stopping me,um, is because so many people
have already played, is becauseso many people have already
played that and I already havemy sort of plate full with WoW
(11:53):
at the moment.
Yeah, I've got a lot to lookforward to during WoW.
I still want to play on WoW andI can't really make the time
for RuneScape, as well asclassic World of Warcraft,
retail World of Warcraft, etc.
Etc.
So there are a couple ofreasons, but it does feel
daunting going into an oldergame that's been out for years,
(12:14):
but I promise you jump straightin and you will be fine.
Ok, you will be fine.
The next one is well, actually Ikind of already touched on this
how do I not get overwhelmed?
And I'm going to answer thisbecause I'm not going to rattle
on about it, as I kind of saidit in the previous point, but
(12:36):
pick an element of WoW that youwould probably enjoy.
If you are very competitive, you want to look towards the PvP
side of WoW, and this is whenyou get to level 10.
This is when you can startdoing it.
Okay, now, at max level is whenyou get to level 10.
This is when you can startdoing it.
Okay, now, at max level is whenpvp really opens up and it
(12:56):
gives you a lot more to do, okay, to focus on.
But if you want to do pvp, youcan do like battlegrounds while
you're leveling.
If you want to do pve, you'redoing pve all the time.
You're killing mobs, you'redoing dungeons, doing delves,
you're doing raids, late game, you know all of this stuff.
So the way to not getoverwhelmed is to focus on one
(13:16):
thing and be like yeah, this iswhat I would want to do.
I want to do pve and I want tolook at dungeons, for example.
Dungeons are really cool.
I like all the differentchoices of dungeons, so that's
great.
Look all of the dungeons.
Go through the dungeon journaland you can see all of the
dungeons from the entire worldof warcraft, um game essentially
(13:37):
and you can see what kind ofbosses there are, what kind of
loot and get yourself familiarwith that sort of thing.
So best way to not getoverwhelmed pick, pick something
within WoW and focus on that.
Don't worry about everythingelse.
I promise you everything elsewill come to you in time.
Just focus on the one thingthat you would probably or see
(14:00):
yourself enjoying in the gamemore so than anything else.
Okay, the next question is goingto be very opinion-based best
class.
Now, I'm really going to tryand do this from every
perspective, but it's very tough, so I'm going to rattle these
off.
Best class for a newer playerif you're looking at a melee,
(14:24):
you're looking at a warrior, okay, or rep paladin?
You're looking at a warrior, okay or rep paladin?
I've already questioned myselfthis is really bad.
You're looking at maybe yeah, screw it, warrior.
You're looking at a furywarrior for ranged.
You're looking at a beastmastery hunter for caster.
This is, um, your mages, yourwarlocks and stuff you are
(14:46):
probably looking at I want tosay ell Elishaman, but Elishaman
has so much going for it.
You're probably looking at anevoker.
Okay, for newer players, evokers are going to be very
tough to get into, though, because you need a character
leveled up to a certain levelbefore you can unlock them,
sadly.
So evoker would be my bestguess, as it is one of the
(15:10):
easier um classes to actuallyplay at the moment, in my honest
opinion.
As for, uh, healers, you'reprobably looking.
If you want a pure healinghealer, you might probably want
mistweaver Monk.
If you're looking at thesimplest healer oh god, all
(15:31):
healers are pretty tough intheir own right Maybe Holy
Priest, but Holy Priest has alot of intricacies with it as
well.
I don't think there's reallyany healer spec that is simple,
and I know that sounds reallyawful, but it's not like they're
super complicated as well.
Some of them are, but theyaren't simple, but not super
(15:54):
complicated.
So you kind of get what I'msaying.
You can learn them is the bestway of saying this.
Um, honestly, my opinion, pickup priest.
If you're looking to heal tankwise, you have your warrior,
which is your standard tank, butI would go with something maybe
like a demon hunter, as it's abit more like.
(16:16):
It will always be more relevantthan a warrior, sadly, in any
sort of meta.
Um, so best class wise fornewbies is all of them, not
newbies but newer people to wow.
As for like just most fun, Igotta say druid, man, druid is
(16:38):
so fun.
Whether you're feral, resto, uhtank guardian or boomkin.
You are constantly shiftingforms bear, cat boomy form,
travel form.
You even have like a glyph ofum tree form, which is really
cool.
But I love the whole druidaspects.
I love the whole druidic feelto the class, to any sort of
(17:02):
game.
I think it's really cool.
The whole nature stuff and youknow the astral stuff from
Boomkins.
You're cooling down full moonsbeams from the sky.
You look really cool.
As for best classes at themoment, in current meta, you're
going to be looking at probablyEli Shaman.
You're looking at probablyellie shaman.
(17:23):
You're looking at feral druid.
You're looking at holy priestor resto druid.
You're going to be looking atthese sort of classes.
Um, I would genuinely say thebest class at the moment is
maybe a resto druid.
Genuinely, I think resto druidsare crazy right now for PvP
(17:43):
anyway, and I think that theyare only going to get better as
more nerfs will come in, I'msure, to other classes and they
will just inevitably have thatpower creep that shines through
eventually.
Now the next one links into thisas well.
Most annoying class ellieshaman.
(18:05):
All right, next question well, obviously this is going to be
biased as well.
I've got to say ellie shaman, and that is purely on the basis
of I play caster in pvp andellie shamans are notorious for
being the sort of caster counterum or the most annoying um
(18:28):
counter to another caster, because if they miss their kick
oh who cares?
They press grounding totem.
Therefore, you still can't getyour spell off and stuff.
It's a bit annoying now, it'sjust a bit tedious.
That's the problem with leshamans, it's always a bit
tedious, um.
As for most annoying class ingeneral, I would have to say
(18:52):
demon hunter.
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna say demonhunter, and this is on the
basis of pP.
But I hate the way that theyjust fly around Like I don't
know how to describe it.
They just fly around and annoyme.
It's a ridiculous thing.
So Demon Hunters have somethingcalled Vengeful Retreat.
(19:15):
What Vengeful Retreat does ifyou have the PvP talent which
every Demon Hunter does?
Essentially it makes you immuneto crowd control slows anything
of that nature.
Um, whilst you're in the air,and there's a way to increase
this time that you are in theair, um, by maybe up to like a
second or so.
And you might think, oh, that'snot a lot.
(19:37):
Trust me, a second is a lot inpvp.
You can get a lot of shit donewithin that second.
You can get a kill happening, you can get CC on the other
healer Multiple things canhappen in PvP with one second.
So just be aware of that.
But I just don't like the waythat I can't get away from them,
no matter what I do.
(19:57):
They have the dashes, they havethe double jump the glide, they
have the vengeful, they havethe double jump the glide, they
have the vengeful retreat.
So I can't see them as well.
They usually have a shadow meldbecause the well, I rarely see
a blood elf demon hunter, let'sface it.
So yeah, I would say mostannoying class is for sure, a DH
, but Ellie is very much upthere for me.
(20:22):
Now the last question I want toend on PvE or PvP.
Personally, PvP I find a lotmore engaging, and this is due
to the fact that everything isgoing to be different no matter
what game you enter into now.
You might be thinking, oh, butwhat if you come up against the
same comp?
It's like oh yes, I've playedwarrior le shaman for the fifth
(20:45):
time in a row.
That's fine.
They're different people, different scenarios will happen
within this game, and that's whyI enjoy pvp, because it's still
new.
It's not a repetitive thing.
They are pressing similarbuttons, yes, but the scenarios
might be completely different, and that's the difference.
Pve is very much telegraphed insome way.
(21:08):
Yes, this boss does thismechanic, but you've got to
figure out how to deal with thismechanic perfectly while still
doing your best damage rotation, and if you don't do that, the
boss might hit an enrage timer, therefore one-shotting the
entire raid.
So this one is very muchmid-max your damage and enjoy
(21:28):
the repetitiveness of the bossand kind of treat it as a puzzle
.
Almost it's like okay, the bossdoes this at this time, so the
raid group need to be over hereand then, as he's casting it, we
need to move it to the righthand side of the boss.
You know this kind of shit.
Um, in my honest opinion, you'regoing to be looking at pve um
(21:51):
as a newer player, as someonewho has played well over the
course of 15 years.
Now, I don't know it's, it'sall a blur at this point, but
over the course of this manyyears, I've seen pve's get more
and more updates than pvp is, soyou're going to be a bit more
fortuitous and lucky to go intopve, if you are ever looking to
(22:15):
get into well, because this iswhere the content will be
dropping, no matter what.
Okay, it will always dropwithout fail, every single patch
.
It's a guaranteed.
It's one of them things.
It's a guaranteed.
Yeah, I'm.
I'm so sad that I have to saythat I really, really am.
I much prefer pvp, but I don'tknow.
(22:36):
Pve is get a lot more.
They really do.
But some of them still complainon the forums.
Man, it's ridiculous.
I see him complaining that theydidn't get a raid or something
two weeks after a raid come out.
You know it's, it's ludicrous,it is what it is.
It is what it is.
But look, I'm gonna end itthere.
(22:56):
It's a bit shorter of anepisode.
I'm still kind of getting backfrom illness.
It's still lingering there.
I'm not sure what it is.
Might be sort of long covid, Ireally don't know.
My throat feels very dry.
Recently you could probablyhear it a little bit.
It's starting to go, but itevery now and again it will
catch up with me.
But look, thank you all verymuch for listening.
(23:19):
You do check out all of thesocials down below constant
stuff happening, as well as anetsy shop, multiple things going
up there constantly.
But yeah, thank you all verymuch once again and go, eval a
friend, goodbye, thank you.
