Speaker 1 (00:45):
Thank you, hello and welcome to the Pig and Whistle
Tales from Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stormwind, I go
through a variety of subjectswith regards to World of
Warcraft.
Go for a variety of subjectswith regards to world of

(01:06):
warcraft.
Take off a bottle or a pint, sit back and enjoy this episode.
We'll be going over, uh,multiple bits and bobs, to be
honest.
We're going to be looking atthe race to world first.
We're going to be looking atpatch 11.1.5, we're going to be
looking at season of discovery,so a whole plethora of things,
um, but we obviously have theweekly news, as always.
So we have a kordak and the gobfather as your world bosses for

(01:30):
the week.
They are located within uh, ohno, I've forgotten that again,
as our guy is the zone dawn agois the city, the, the first zone
, the first zone in Tornagol, and the Undermine is where the
Gobfather resides.
You have Delves as your bonusevent for the week.

(01:51):
You get more rewards fromcompleting Delves and Solo
Shuffle.
Salmshore versus Taramil isyour brawl for the week.
This is essentially a 40 versus40.
This will crash your PC if itis not up to scratch, so please
make sure that you actually havea PC that can handle this.
It is a bit shit, I know, butit is good fun if you can, and

(02:14):
it is just an absolute clusterof everyone spamming everything.
It is good fun in its own way,but being a melee in this is
kind of rough, I'm not going tolie to you, so let's get
straight into it all.
I'm going to start off withpatch 11.1.5.

(02:35):
Now, there isn't much that isgoing to be happening within
this patch, but there is acouple things that I'm going to
talk about.
Firstly, this being cooldownmanager.
Um, and what is this?
You might think?
They are adding a CooldownManagement setting within the
settings and this allows you totrack certain cooldowns that you
want to track, and this isreally good, because this is

(02:57):
usually done via an add-on inWoW.
So they are actually attemptingto slowly phase out add-ons,
which is a big thing in WoW,because over the past 15-20
years now, the add-ons in WoWhave been very, very big.
They have always, like, beenthere, essentially, and they've

(03:19):
constantly gotten better andbetter throughout the years of
playing the game.
Essentially, now a lot ofpeople rely on these add-ons
they really rely on them, actually and this means that
people miss out mechanics, theyaren't doing their rotations
like perfectly, they aren'tseeing the game essentially, and

(03:39):
I think that adding these as abaseline option for you to
change and customize your uihowever you want and like have
these sort of things, is reallygood for the game and it's very
good for it long term, becauseit means that people who are
wanting to get into World ofWarcraft aren't suddenly
overwhelmed by like oh, I haveto install add-ons to the game.

(04:01):
Why is this not a baselinething?
And it's like well, because youknow there's an add-on for it,
but why wasn't this a baselinebefore an add-ons to the game?
Why is this not a baselinething and it's like well,
because you know there's anadd-on for it, but why wasn't
this a baseline before an add-onlike if it's that sort of
important?
You know it's these sort ofthings and I think that it's
very good that they're movingaway from it, um, from add-ons,
and hoping to eventually get tothe point where no one will need

(04:24):
add-ons at all.
I really hope we get to thatpoint eventually, but it's going
to take years upon years ofsort of UI improvements or just
baseline sort of improvements tothe game itself in order to get
there, because a lot of peoplewon't be able to live without
their Wii Coras, essentially inthe game, people won't be able

(04:47):
to play the game without theirweak auras.
Um, now, and what a weak aura isis essentially, if someone
presses, you can do a weak aurafor anything.
So a good, simple example issomeone uses a big offensive
ability, who you're playingagainst, your weak aura will pop
up with a symbol and it willmake a noise, it will make an

(05:10):
air horn or something, and itwill be like beep and it will
tell you, essentially, that thisperson has popped their
offensive cooldowns.
And this is when you're like,oh shit, I need to be careful
because I can die, or this iswhen, like, I can get killed,
essentially from these cooldowns.
So it's just something to playthe game for you, almost, and I

(05:32):
think that it's very, very goodthat they are slowly trying to
add more and more things to thebase UI that allow you to
customize it however you want, without sort of compromising, um
, people's ability to customizeit as much as they can, if that
makes sense, because peoplestill want these things.

(05:52):
Some people might need them toplay the game.
Some people might, um, needthem just through disability,
like um reasons alone, likesomeone might not be able to uh
something very well, so theyneed big sort of like symbols on
the screen to show something'shappened or something.
You know these sort of things, and I'm glad that they are

(06:14):
moving away from add-ons, orthis is what the direction is.
It's what it looks like to behappening, which is very, very
good.
Next thing I want to talk aboutis something called Dastardly
duos.
Now, dastardly duos issomething that's going to be
introduced in this patch andit's something that I looked at
and was like okay, doesn't soundinteresting, sounds kind of

(06:36):
like pve based and it's going tobe boring as hell.
It is pve based, firstly, butI've had a look into it and it
does look pretty cool.
So what Dastley Duos is?
Essentially, you grab a friendand you sign up for this sort of
arena.
Ok, now it is in a PvP arena.

(06:58):
This is PvE and you get yourbuffs.
You get whatever you can Ithink there's a few like
different buffs, potions andstuff that you can take in sort
of a starting room and you goout into this arena and you kill
as many mobs as you can and youget a score based on your
damage, your healing, how manymobs you kill, how many bosses

(07:19):
you kill, etc.
And you can get gear, cosmetics, mounts, all of this stuff from
dastardly duos and it's reallyreally cool.
It's a good way of mid-maxing,like a duo sort of thing, and
just killing as many mobs as youcan without essentially having
to worry about anyone else, likein, uh, the game.

(07:41):
Okay, it's another instancediversion of stuff.
It's a small dungeon.
Okay, it's a delve times two.
I guess um, delve 2.0, maybe, Idon't know something along them
lines, but it looks really good.
And the thing is that you getsome gear from this.
Okay, you're not going to getincredible gear.
You're going to get the sameequivalent as normal dungeon

(08:01):
gear.
I think um is what I believethat you're going to get.
I don't think it's going to bemuch more than that.
So you're not forced to dothese for the gear.
You are purely like doing themfor pretty much the cosmetic
base of things.
You're doing it so that you canget cosmetics, and that's
really really good, and anythinglike this is added that gives

(08:23):
you cosmetics is a massive bonusin the game itself.
I always stand by it when I saidthat if Torghast was purely
cosmetics only, it would havebeen one of the best features in
the game ever.
But because you were forced todo Torghast back in Shadowlands,
it was awful, ok, but if it wascosmetic based, it would have

(08:47):
been so much better.
I enjoyed playing Torghast whenthey basically I forget the
name of it they made the lastsort of wings of Torghast, where
it was just cosmetics that youget an amount at the end of it,

(09:07):
because that allowed me to justenjoy it.
It allowed me to enjoy thepowers.
It allowed me to just take mytime.
I didn't feel rushed in doingit.
I didn't feel forced to doTorghast, I just did it as and
when I wanted to.
And this is what should behappening.
People should have the chanceto miss out a couple weeks on
something but be able to comeback and still be able to do it

(09:30):
and not be at a disadvantage incomparison to everyone else who
has played it.
Now don't get me wrong somesystems you will have to put
gear behind, such as pvp, suchas mythic Plus, mythic Raiding,
etc.
Etc.
These things obviously makesense to put gear behind, but
anything like this, this is anamazing feature that is coming

(09:54):
in the next patch and issomething that I didn't really
want.
I don't think many people askedfor it, but I think that it's
going to be a not an immediatehit, but I think that people
will, over the course of likewhen it's there, be quite
impressed by it.
Okay, and I think there's goingto be amazing because it allows

(10:15):
you to collect cosmetics.
It's something that they can um, it's almost like an evergreen
feature as well.
They can add to it, they canadd new bosses, they can add new
cosmetics to buy, new mounts tobuy, et cetera, et cetera, etc.
Which is really good, and Ithink that this is going to be
one of the most underratedthings that wow maybe has to
offer at the moment.
Um, I certainly think in the0.1 patch, like through to 0.2,

(10:40):
I think this might be one of thebest things that they
introduced, and that includes, like, the new goblin zone and
the raid and all of that stuff.
So I I definitely wouldrecommend giving dastardly duos
a go when it is out in 11.1.5.
Okay, it looks good, it looksamazing, and if you can grab a
friend and to like, do thedastardly duos with them,

(11:02):
absolutely even better.
Next, I want to talk about theworld first race.
So world first ended a few daysago and liquid are the winners
of the race, world first race.
Now obviously there's the wholeeu versus na stuff and na
getting a reset like earlier andstuff.

(11:23):
I don't want to get into that.
Okay, I want to get into.
It was quite an underwhelmingend to the race to welfare, so
everyone was kind of watchingand, to put it into perspective,
the race to welfare usually thelike teams or yeah, they're

(11:43):
essentially teams or groups ofplayers are on the final boss
for at least like two to threedays somewhere around there.
You know, if it's a fast sortof um end boss, I think it took
liquid about one day to clearthe boss and that's pretty
upsetting, to say the least.
Now you obviously have a lot ofbosses that are going to be

(12:08):
tough to tune and obviously theyhave mistuned galley wicks as a
mythic end boss.
The thing is, during the race toworld first there are multiple
bosses that they have to killand you would usually have like,
oh, the first couple bosseswill take a couple of pulls to
kill, you know, the next twowill take about 50, maybe next

(12:31):
one's 100.
It's really tough to get a goodsort of timer on how long a
boss should or shouldn't take, but the boss literally died
after 100 pulls.
Ok, this is Chrome kinggallywix.

(12:53):
All right, and 100 pulls.
You might think, oh my god, that's loads, that's triple
digits.
To put it into perspective, theboss before this um took 148
like to kill.
Okay, and there was even like aboss that was like the fourth
in the dungeon that took 114 tokill, which is really weird.

(13:14):
You never have a final boss.
That is like less uh attempts onit than other bosses in the
raid.
It's not happened for a verylong time.
I don't believe.
Maybe the first or the lasttime it happened was shadowlands
, to my best knowledge, whenmaybe anduin was the boss that
had the most pull attempts onhim as like a sort of end boss.

(13:37):
But midway through the raid, um, you also have in um, quite
famously by famously, the bossHolondrus.
Now, holondrus was a hilariousboss.
This took hundreds uponhundreds of attempts, absolutely
hundreds, and I think it wasaround 600 attempts.

(14:01):
This took this raid back inShadowlands, took about two to
three weeks to complete onMythic.
That is absurd.
To put this into perspective, Ithink it took about a week and
a half and that's on Mythic.
That's doing the split, heroicpushes, all of that gearing, all

(14:22):
of that stuff and I don't know.
The point I'm trying to make isit was really disappointing the
end of it and that's my kind offeeling.
With a goblin patch in general,it's just kind of underwhelming
goblin patches.
So I'm glad that it's done, butI'm also glad.

(14:44):
I'm also upset that there was agoblin patch.
Look, I get that.
They need their patches everynow and again.
We've had night elf patches,we've probably had human patches
, we've had dragon patches,we've had whatever it might be
blood elf, what is it?
Draenei?
You know we'll get all of thesedifferent patches and people

(15:06):
will be like oh okay, this is ablood elf patch because we're
going to quoth the last.
Or this is draenei becausewe're going to azur mist isle or
something.
You know all of that stuff.
Um, I don't know the goblin, but it's going to be one of the
most underwhelming race to worldfirsts, I think ever and it's
quite sad really.

(15:27):
It really really is, becausethe race to world first is
something that is amazing withinthe game itself.
New players will not understandfully what's happening, but they
can.
After seeing many, manyattempts of these bosses, they
will understand what's happening.
So for myself, I don't reallyunderstand what's happening in

(15:48):
raids.
Okay, I don't look at theguides, I don't read up on
anything, I just watch the raceto world first and see if they
get close to killing the boss ornot.
That's kind of it.
But watching the bosses you'relike, oh okay, so they're.
For example, they have sticks, bunker, bunk, junker or whatever
this boss you had to rollaround and pick up some trash

(16:10):
heaps and these trash heaps, essentially you rolled into the
boss or into certain explosives.
You rolled a couple intoexplosives so they didn't
detonate the raid and you rolledthe rest into the boss to do
damage to the boss.
And you know it's a very coolmechanic.
It's one that I wouldn't haveunderstood.
I would have gotten to thistrash pile and be like where do

(16:33):
I go?
What do I do?
And just ran it into a wall orsomething or stunned all of my
fellow raid members or somethinglike that.
But it's really cool to see allof these different mechanics and
the sad thing is this is when alot of the mechanics get seen
during the race to world firstand well, they're gonna
associate this raid with beingone of the most disappointing

(16:55):
race to world firsts in recent,if not all, of wow's history,
which is quite sad.
And the thing is, with the raceto world first there was also
bugs for um, the end boss.
So when liquid and echo andmethod and all of that were
clearing, like through the raid, there was a guild that

(17:18):
essentially one shot not oneshot, but cleared the mythic
world first and they got mythicworld first on this raid.
But the thing is that they bugabused and they were quickly
taken off of that and it wasquickly fixed.
So you've had the shortest raceto world first probably in
recent history, one of the mostdisappointing end bosses in

(17:41):
recent history, for sure.
Plus, it was also buggedheavily that a guild abused it
and got the race or the worldfirst kill but also was taken
off of that.
So like there's many differentthings that went wrong with the
race to world first in thispatch, but I just hope that the
next one is actually a lotbetter and they sort of kick

(18:01):
back from this patch and, youknow, prove to them that they
can do raids because they can, they really really can, or like
the tuning of raids, because weknow they can.
They did some amazing raids atCastle Nathria.
They did the um, evolved theincarnates.
I I'm awful with raid names,aren't I?
Um?
Hellfire citadel you go backinto wrath of the lich king got.

(18:25):
Icecrown citadel, black temple,sunwell.
You know, you've got all ofthese amazing raids and every
now and again you're going tolitter in some that are a bit
disappointing.
It's just what's going tohappen.
It just is.
It just is.
But yeah, I thought I'd sharethat one with you.
It is a bit disappointing, I'mnot going to lie.
That race to world first, um,how it ended essentially.

(18:47):
Now, quick look at season ofdiscovery.
So season of discovery is goinginto Phase 8.
And what Phase 8 brings is thateverything is completely new.
Okay, there is no content thatis within Classic going into
this phase.
What I mean by that is everysingle phase.

(19:08):
There was something a bitdifferent with it, which had a
Season of Discovery sort oftwist.
Okay, whether it be KarazhanCrypts or sort of new, I forget
what they are recipes, alchemy, potions, whatever it might be.
Instead, you get a brand newpatch, a patch that has never
been in any sort of World ofWarcraft ever, and this patch is

(19:32):
basically the Scarlet Crusadepatch.
So it's going live on April 8thand essentially you are getting
a few different things sooutdoor content, profession
content in New Avalon, theScarlet Enclave related quest
content, and then on april 10thyou have the scarlet enclave

(19:56):
raid and legendary weapon questline available and this is
amazing.
So what this is?
Uh, there will be a couplespoilers in here.
If you don't want to know whatthe legendary weapon is and
stuff like that, please don'tlisten.
Um, for the new legendary questline, it's the ashbringer in
classic.

(20:17):
Um, everyone obviously knew ofthe corrupted ashbringer.
Everyone knew that you couldobtain it within nax ramus and
there were multiple things thatwere hinting that you could
cleanse the ashbringer.
And many people did manydifferent things within Classic
to attempt to cleanse this.
Okay, people went fishing inAltrac Valley, people went

(20:41):
absolutely everywhere withinWorld of Warcraft to try and
cleanse this Ashbringer andessentially no one could do it.
And it makes sense, because itwasn't in the game at all, you
couldn't cleanse it at all.
And it makes sense, because itwasn't in the game at all, you
couldn't cleanse it at all.
Now, what people did was theythought oh OK, it's going to be

(21:03):
in Outlands because they foundNat Pagel's journal or something
referencing Mograine's son, andlike they said, oh, you'll find
him in Outlands.
And everyone was like, oh, ok,so when the new expansion comes
out, that's when we can, um,cleanse the weapon essentially.
And you know, all of this stuff, like happened, we went to

(21:25):
Outland, mograine's son wasn'tthere, so everyone kind of gave
up on it and it's like, oh okay,it's just not a thing.
It's essentially not a thing atall, which is a bit
disappointing.
But how long, 20 years later nowthey are finally putting the
Ashbringer, the originalAshbringer, the legendary

(21:46):
version, into World of Warcraft.
And that is amazing.
That is absolutely amazing.
So there is, and always hasbeen, a ashbringer that is in
the game files since classic.
There's always been anashbringer in classic in the
game files, but obviously peoplecould never obtain this.

(22:09):
So this is what the quest lineis.
It is to essentially line is itis to essentially cleanse the
corrupted ashbringer.
And that is so cool because thecorrupted ashbringer in classic
has a couple of rp events tiedto it.
When you get the ashbringer, you can go to the scarlet

(22:31):
monastery, which is a dungeon, level 40 or dungeon and you can
go into the cathedral part ofScarlet Monastery and you will
essentially get a full RP, andthis RP is essentially a ghost
that kills the sun and the sunis the one that betrayed them

(22:53):
and essentially corrupted theashbringer in the first place.
So there is a lot of lorebehind the ashbringer and I'm so
glad that they've actually donean entire quest line in order
to cleanse it within the patch, and I think that it's very cool.
To be honest, I think that it'ssomething that's very unique,
something that classic isneeding and it's needed to offer

(23:14):
for a while, and it does fit inwith just world of warcraft in
general.
It fits in with the classicfeel where, um, essentially, you
have legendary quest lines suchas atiesh.
Um, you have what are theothers?
Thunder fury, you havesulfurous.
All of these legendary questlines are legendary and I'm glad

(23:35):
that they're doing the same forash the ashbringer.
I hope that it is as tedious asum a lot of people make it out
to be, because it was.
You go fishing and then you gohere, and then you go up here
and then you talk to this person, then you go fishing again and
you know.
I hope that they have made itquite tedious because the whole

(23:55):
thing and the whole like funaround.
Oh, we gotta go cleanse thisashbringer is that it was a
tedious process to do back in2004, 2005, when people didn't
know how to um or didn't realizethat the ashbringer wasn't in
the game at all.
Actually it was just thecorrupted ashbringer and nothing
else kind of deal.

(24:16):
So, look, you also get um newraid, which is the scarlet
enclave.
It has eight bosses reallyreally cool.
Actually a lot of the bossesI'm not going to go through them
, but a couple of them are onesthat we know.
So balthazar is the leader ofthe Scarlet Enclave that are

(24:37):
within Stratholme.
He is the last boss inStratholme live side um.
So this is where he is fleed to.
Essentially, you have LillianVoss.
Now people might think I knowthat name.
Lillian Voss, in retail, iscurrently one of the council
members for the Forsaken.
And you're thinking but ifshe's Forsaken, then how are we

(25:00):
killing her in a Scarlet Enclaveraid?
Now, lillian Vos was never inthe game before Cataclysm.
In Cataclysm she turns into aForsaken.
You see you literally in thetirasville quest line.
You go through her, dealingwith her transformation into a
forsaken and you sort ofencourage her that it is okay

(25:23):
and everything like will be putright and stuff, and she can't
accept that.
So she is a scarlet um, I thinka guard or something.
She is a scarlet guard up untilcataclysm and this is really
cool because it allows you tosee her in her human form before

(25:44):
she actually turns into aforsaken, and I think that this
is a really cool boss to have.
I really, really do.
A lot of people won't realizethis as well, but I think if you
go into the Season of Discoveryand do the raid and you see
Lillian Vos there as a boss, just remember that is a very
lore-heavy character, like rightnow in retail, and it's not

(26:08):
someone you should overlook.
And it's really cool thatthey've almost backtracked her
character to show us what sheshe was, but like back in the
crusade, um, but yeah, it'sgoing to be really cool.
I'm really glad that season ofdiscovery is opening up a new
raid, completely new raid, and Ithink that it's going to be

(26:28):
something very special it.
I think that this could be very, very good for season of
discovery and classic goingforward in my honest opinion.
But that is where I will end itfor this episode.
Thank you all very much forlistening.
Do check out all of the socialmedia stuff, constant stuff
happening over there as well asEtsy multiple things happening
