Speaker 1 (00:24):
Thank you very much.
Hello and welcome to the Pigand Whistle Tales from Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stilwind, I chat
through a variety of subjectswith regards to World of
Warcraft.
So grab a bottle or a pint, sitback and enjoy.
(00:46):
And today's subject is allabout people within WoW.
Now, these are to clarify onthat.
It's sort of the differenttypes of people that you meet in
terms of friendly, not friendly, and you can sort of categorise
most of these people that youmeet within WoW.
There might be one or two sortof oddballs that you meet within
.
Well, there might be one or twosort of oddballs that you can't
necessarily put in a certaincategory, but hey, you're always
(01:10):
going to get that in every game.
So, to start it off, we've gotthe three big sort of categories
that you can kind of throwpeople into.
You got the pvp crazy, the pvecrazy and the rp rp crazy.
So the pvp crazy you're.
These are general sort ofhanging about uh, stormwind,
(01:33):
keep somewhere, or even justoutside the auction house
showing off their flashy uhhonor gear like rank 14 sword
claim or stuff like that.
They're always the ones thatlike announcing it.
They won't be quiet about thefact that they've got rank 14 in
wow classic or anything likethat, or they've got multi
(01:54):
gladiator in retail.
No, they're going to beannouncing it and they're going
to not announcing it in ashouting like I made it rank 14.
They're too, in a shouting likeI made it rank 14.
They're too.
They're not that dumb, but theywill announce it by standing
directly on top of a mailbox, directly on top of a fountain,
on their mount, in their shinysort of yellow armor, that sort
(02:14):
of thing.
So you're always going to getthe pvp crazy and you're going
to find so many people in, oryou're going to see so many
people in, or you're going tosee so many people asking for
jewels Whenever they're out andabout In a city, when they're
just doing nothing and waitingfor stuff to happen, whether
they're going to raid or theyjust want to kill some time
(02:35):
Outside, stormwind, etc.
So you've got the PvP kind ofcrazy people and you can kind of
find the.
No, you can't necessarily.
Some of these people that youcan find in max level zones
there will be really wanting tojust go absolutely crazy with
pvp.
Sylathus is a hot hub at themoment where people will just be
(02:58):
fighting sylathus non-stop withpvp.
You go to somewhere like winterspring as well.
I imagine there's still somepeople that go there whilst
farming herbs and like richthorium veins.
They will be jumping on everysort of horde or alliance,
depending on which faction youare.
That you see and you will bewanting to kill that person.
No sort of um, no sort ofthought about it.
(03:21):
It's like yep, I see you, you're dead, I'm hunting you
down.
Almost there won't be any sortof hesitation about it.
It's like yep, I see you, you're dead, I'm hunting you
down.
Almost there won't be any sortof hesitation.
It's that kill instinct.
Obviously, you'll find thesetypes of people on PvP realms.
I highly doubt that they'll beon a PvE realm.
I would be super surprised SomePvP players might go onto a PvE
realm just so they can flex onit a bit more.
(03:43):
Maybe it's like yep, look at me, I definitely did this.
You all can't.
So I haven't necessarily seenthat myself, but as I am on a
pvp server, I can imaginethere's one or two people that
would do that just to sort ofget the attention.
But it's not worth it.
To be honest, it's kind of sad.
Moving on to the pve.
(04:03):
You have this person who boaststhat they're best in slot for
everything.
They literally have the besthelm, their shoulders, best
chest, waist, hands, everythingin this character for the phases
that they are in.
So we're in on garage, so theyhave the best gear that they can
get from on garage and theother raids that are possible to
give their character the beststats, the best damage, stuff
(04:26):
like that.
But they don't just stop there.
They have about three or fourcharacters with all best in slot
.
Now I have a couple of thesepeople in my guild who have like
three, four characters who aremax and they are raiding every
day just to get gear for thatcharacter, for that alt
character, and I think that'sbonkers.
(04:47):
Just have fun with your one ortwo characters.
Now Blackwing Lair's alright,if you're on the right character
and stuff.
Encourage is also fine, depending on and out quite
(05:13):
easily.
But these people they love it.
They're going absolutelybonkers over.
So you're always going to getthen pve crazy people and these
will be the people who willworry about passing more than
(05:36):
not, more often than not.
So passing is if you havesomeone who logs your raid.
Logging your raid is um kind ofrecording it in terms of like
how quick you do the raid, howwell you do the raid, your
execution, uh, deaths, yourdamage done for each boss fight.
So it kind of recordseverything within that raid that
(05:59):
you've done and it will put itagainst the other raid, the
other raids on your server.
Or it can be like continentalor it could be that you've
(06:20):
basically done.
Most people go for realmbecause it's kind of easy.
It's super tough to go for likeworld and continental because
there are some guilds that justgo batshit, like absolutely
crazy with passing and likedamaging in everything that they
possibly can and stuff.
So it's really tough to sort ofcrack that.
(06:41):
You know top two percent, topone percent.
But these people will really gofor passing.
They'll bring every consume, they'll do guides on stuff, on
certain bosses, what to wear, they'll have certain fire
resistance to stand in at, likefire more and keep damaging so
they don't have to like los etc.
So these people will goabsolutely crazy for just
(07:03):
passing and doing the mostdamage and being the best on the
server in that raid and onthese certain bosses and stuff.
So I myself do like to look atthe passes and just see how I
compare to like everyone else onthe realm, like with Mage and
stuff else on the realm, likewith mage and stuff.
(07:27):
It's not something that I'mgoing to get upset about.
If I'm like 70 past 90 past,like 98 past 100 past, the
higher number the better pass.
So the less people that areabove you, if that makes sense.
It's kind of weird because it'slike your number, because I
always see it as you should benumber one, like if you're on
top you should be number one,not number 100, but again,
(07:48):
that's just the way it is.
But I myself look at thepassing, don't really care about
it, but it's just fun to sortof compare.
Sometimes.
You know, then you've got theRPers.
Now the RPers will prioritiseRP over most things.
Now the RPers will prioritiseRP over most things.
To be honest, we've got we'rekind of an RP PVE guild, some of
(08:11):
there's about several who RP, Ithink, from what I know anyway,
but they will kind ofprioritise RP over sort of
raiding.
They'll say like we can't doZul'Gurab or we can't do Unkaraj
20 man because we want to dothis RP event.
That's at like 8pm and goes onfor a couple hours of them just
(08:35):
walking around Silithus.
Now, don't get me wrong.
Some people might love it and Ican understand why people love
it, because it's the role it'sthe fantasy of what you want
your character.
You want your character to havea backstory, to be doing
something like you're tellingyour own story within the game.
I completely understand thatOphelithus talking in a formal
(09:02):
sort of manner, in like yourrole play manner, and making up
this scenario, just doesn't suitme.
It's so slow for me and it justdoesn't sit right with me.
It takes forever and I justcan't sit there and do that
pretty much.
Now there's a dark side to RP.
(09:23):
That's ERP.
I think it's erotic role play.
't ever get hooked up in thatthat?
That is just weird and youdon't want to know anything
about it.
Yeah, it's.
If you ever want to figure itout, what erp is?
You go into argent dawn onretail, wow, you go to goldshire
inn and that's all you need toknow.
(09:44):
Good luck to you if you do that.
I would not recommend it.
That's all you need to seeabout that.
That's all I'm going to sayabout that, to be honest.
But those are the three sort ofbig ones.
But you can break that down kindof into further subcategories
almost so.
You've got gankers, you've gotannoying people, you've got the
over-friendly people.
You've got gankers.
You've got annoying people, you've got the over friendly
(10:05):
people, you've got dispellersand stuff.
So, gankers we're going to talkabout that one because it's
something that happens a lot onmy realm and it's happened to me
before, it's happened toeveryone before everyone's got
ganked at some point I'd besurprised and think that you're
lying if you have not beenganked.
Just saying but their home isusually Stranglethorn Vale.
(10:29):
I mean, that's a given.
I don't think there's manypeople who would go to
Stranglethorn Vale and not beganked.
They would usually be a maleundead.
Now, this could be a mage or arogue it's usually a rogue but
they are the ones who hang aboutat the camp up top and just
(10:51):
they live for your sort of dis,not disappointment, your anger
and hatred towards them.
That's what's so weird about it, because they're like living
off of that hatred and it'stheir sustenance, their food,
and it's just weird in myopinion.
If you ask me, I'd get boredjust sitting there killing a
(11:12):
level 30 as a level 60, it'd belike, okay, that was fun, what
now?
Like off to do something else?
You're not going to sit thereand wait for a level 30 to spawn
to kill them again, becausewhat's the point?
It's so slow, it's so dull,you're doing nothing, you're
kind of wasting your time on thegame.
It is so weird.
You just can't understand thesetypes of people who do it.
(11:34):
Now, these types of people, though, no-transcript their own
level, so they are killing youin stranglethorn at level 30,
while they're level 60, becausethey are being absolutely
bullied and manhandled in everybattleground that they are in,
(11:57):
because they are so trash at itthat it's unreal.
They get manhandled and slappedabout in their battlegrounds
and then they have to boosttheir ego by killing lower
levels.
That's the way that I kind ofthink about it, and it's just
kind of funny in a way, becausethey're killing you because
they're so butthurt because theycan't kill anyone their level,
(12:19):
so they have to do it, they haveto try and bring you down with
them, even though you're half oftheir level.
So it's kind of a silly thing.
But if you're getting ganked, you just have to realize that
it's because they're absolutetrash at their character.
They can't do anything againsta max level on their character
(12:39):
for the most part about 95percent of the gankers who like
ganking Stranglethorn and stuff.
They will be absolute trash at1v1 against like another level
60 of their level.
Now gankers can also crop up, orcrop up anywhere.
I've seen gankers in magetowers, like in the mage tower
(13:01):
in Stormwind.
So if people are getting worldbuffs and some poor soul portals
back on his own, there'ssometimes a rogue in there just
to immediately like ready tokill you and gank you.
You don't necessarily expect itso you're kind of relaxed and
not paying attention and thensuddenly you hear a cheap shot
and you're like scrambling onyour keyboard, stuff like that.
(13:23):
So they can crop up anywhereand it's usually the same people
.
If you were to do a study overa year, which it has been for
WoW Classic I have seen the samecouple rogues in Stormwind on
my server multiple times and Iknow their exact names.
I'm not obviously going to sayit because you know it's not
(13:46):
right, but I know their exactnames.
You know the exact sort ofpeople who are ganking.
You know their names.
You know the type of peoplethat they're like with and
talking to and related to stufflike that, like related to
within WoW, within the WoWcommunity, stuff like that.
So you have next the sort ofsub sub category of gankers.
(14:08):
These are people who can'tactually kill someone at all and
they just want to make youmiserable.
Dispellers now, dispellers willsit on in a certain place and
wait for people with world buffs.
Now, world buffs you can getfrom Daimle by doing a certain
(14:31):
run.
You have to kill no bosses andyou become the king at the end
and you talk to the NPCs goingback towards the entrance of the
dungeon and you get world buffsfor 2 hours.
So one might be 3% crit, 15%extra HP and 200 extra attack
power, stuff like that.
So these three um world buffscan be dispelled.
(14:53):
So you will have people instorm on my server, in stormwind
on a fountain outside the bank, literally just sitting in ghost
waiting for people to come bywith die-mall like tribute wall
buffs and then they res, theyres on the fountain, they dispel
(15:17):
you and they die.
That's their purpose, that isall they want to do.
They want to dispel them buffsand that is it.
And you have to think it's kindof like the lowest of the low of
gankers, because You're noteven killing the person.
You're sitting there Looking atyour screen, clicking on
(15:41):
someone who has world buffs, pressing, resurrect, pressing,
resurrect, pressing, purge andthen dying.
And these people do it For five, six hours a day Within
Stormwind, and it's the samepeople again, like the rogues
within the mage tower.
It's the same people.
You know them.
(16:02):
You sort of know where theyreside and stuff.
So it's just the recognitionthat they kind of want and it's
the satisfaction of like ha,he's wasted his time doing that
like diable tribute run, whereasit's like you're the one kind
of wasting your time becauseyou're sat in your ghost form
for six hours a day in stormwinddoing nothing but staring at
(16:25):
people and their buffs.
It's a sad life, like theGankers and the Dispellers,
because that's all they do and Ijust can't see how it's fun
almost.
But you also have people.
You have Dispellers, not justin Stormwind.
You have them on Zul'GurubIsland.
These are priests mainly.
(16:51):
You'll have them anywherethroughout the world and you can
just get randomly dispelledanywhere.
To be honest, you've got to beunlucky to get dispelled, but I
mean there's only a few buffsthat you lose and it's not like
you're going to lose out like100 extra damage, like 100 extra
dps almost.
So it's just sad that people goto this extent to try and ruin
someone's day and like gameexperience when it doesn't even
(17:15):
matter at all if you lose acouple of buffs because it's not
going to ruin the game for you,it doesn't matter.
So you've got them two sort ofin their own category.
They kind of fall under thisone as well.
To be honest, annoying people soI, they are annoying, they are
(17:36):
very annoying, like to deal withthe gankers and the dispellers
and stuff.
But these people are the typeof people who would whine about
stuff within dungeons, just ingeneral, just about anything
that they can whine about andwhinge about.
So if someone doesn't like theway like a mob pack's been
(17:56):
pulled, they'll tell you aboutit.
If they don't like the way thatyou're cc'ing stuff, they'll
tell you about it.
If you don't like the way thatthey're healing, they'll tell
you, etc.
These are the people whocomplain about tanks not being
fast enough when they're likejust first learning tank Healers
not being able to like healthem first and stuff and not
being able to keep everyonealive even if, like you, still
(18:19):
didn't wipe and only one persondied, etc.
They'll be complaining aboutmana usage if they're like a
melee.
They'll be like about manausage if they're like a melee,
they'll be like you've gotenough mana, there's no need to
drink.
Come on, let's go quick.
They're usually the ones thattry to speed everything up and
then inevitably, when you speedup, you'll wipe and they'll get
pissed off as to why you wiped, because you tried to speed up
(18:41):
and it's like you shouldn't havepulled that much.
That was ridiculous.
Why are you trying to go thatfast?
There's no need and it's likeyou shouldn't have pulled that
much.
That was ridiculous.
Why are you trying to go thatfast?
There's no need and it's likemake up your mind Really, like
it's a bit stupid.
But you do get these people thatwhine.
You get people who are alsokind of within this category,
who are ninjas.
So ninjas are.
You know you've got your needand greed.
(19:01):
It's people who just constantlyneed everything and it's just
like, yeah, I can use that, Ican use that, I can use that.
I mean an example here.
It's when wow classic first cameout.
Now it's my very first run ofnomragon not been back since, by
the way, because nomragon is anawful dungeon, one of the worst
in the game I will have, youknow.
(19:22):
But there's this hunter whoneeded I believe it was a melee
fist weapon.
Believe it was a melee fistweapon.
There was no need for itbecause he had something that
was just a hell of a lot better, like insanely better and
(19:42):
leveling.
You kind of want as much as youcan get with your first
character.
It being the start of wowclassic.
It's been out for a coupleweeks now a couple weeks to like
a month.
You kind of want at least achance to get some of that
silver to buy your spell.
Was it like buy extra bag slotsand stuff like that?
So I speak up and say youdidn't really need that, did you
(20:03):
?
So we don't necessarily likewould you mind passing it to
someone who, like who's the nexthighest role?
And he says, no, I'm going tobecome a melee hunter.
And I'm like, no, you're not, though, because you're not using
it, are you?
So he starts to like sort oftalk back and he's like, ok, I
won't use my bow then at all,I'll just melee.
(20:25):
And then and he's like, okay, Iwon't use my bow then at all,
I'll just melee.
And then I basically said, well, you're not used to us then at
all, are you like there's nopoint in you being in the
dungeon.
So he just doesn't say anythingand he I kick him myself.
The rest of the group are sortof on his ass about it as well,
so we kick him.
He runs all the way to the boss.
(20:47):
That pulls the boss to try andaggro it to us, to wipe us all,
and then he dies and the bossresets and everything that he
pulled resets.
So he's just run off, gothimself killed and that's it.
There was nothing after that.
He just logged out.
I'm pretty sure, because Idon't remember seeing his body
(21:09):
like turn into a skeleton oranything like that.
I'm pretty sure he just loggedout immediately after he died.
But it's these type of peoplewho there's no logic behind what
they're saying.
It's just like, yeah, I neededthat, and it's like, but you
didn't, you didn't need that, like, uh, with regards to pvp
rolls, so my guild do a lootcouncil and there's some items
(21:34):
that are a pvp roll.
Now, this part annoys me themost because there will be
people who don't pvp and theyknow they don't PvP, but they
will roll on this PvP item justbecause and they might win it
and there'll be nothing said, even though they know that they
(21:54):
don't PvP and it's a commonissue.
But there are other people whoactually PvP a hell of a lot
more than that person.
That person might have gottento rank three to get their 10%
discount for their mount andnever PvP'd again, whereas
someone else might PvP a coupletimes a week and who deserves it
(22:18):
more because it is a PvP item, stuff like that.
So these types of things kindof annoy me.
So these types of things kindof annoy me and it kind of comes
under the ninja category aswell, because it might not
necessarily be used in allhonesty.
So with the annoying people outof the way, we're going to go to
the complete opposite.
You've got over friendly peoplenow.
(22:41):
Over friendly, I don't mean isa bad thing, I mean it is a very
good thing.
So these are quite a rare breed, I would say, but you usually
have one within every sort ofguild.
So we do have one in our guild.
He manages our discord.
He sort of breaks up every sortof row and ruckus that happens.
(23:02):
He'll be the sort of voice ofreasoning and stuff.
He's such a nice bloke, by theway, I do have to mention that
but he'll be the one organisingstuff on Discord, sort of trying
to get everything sorted out.
He'll be sort of a moderator onDiscord.
He'll sort out channels andstuff.
But this the person who's justfriendly 24 7 in game and out of
(23:25):
game.
You'll be talking to them ondiscord and you'll be having a
great time.
You talk to them in game andthere'll be no different.
They'll help out witheverything that they can.
They'll try and help out with adead minds run when they're
level 60.
They'll try and help you outwith a dime or east run to get
some like fell cloth orsomething.
They are so lovely, these people, and they sort of don't deserve
(23:49):
like what they're given.
They're given nothing.
Really, like our guy, weactually have to force a loot
onto him because he passes on it, he'll win the role and then
he'll be like no, pass it to soand so, because they've got
better gear and we have to forcefor force, feed him loot
(24:12):
because he just passes oneverything and it's like, no,
he'll make more use out of itand it's like we don't care, you
deserve this.
Like you do so much for us, etc.
Like people you even comeacross just randomly within,
like within the community aswell.
So like a couple, again goingback to the launch of classic
(24:35):
leveling in Duskwood.
I forgot the name, I was aboutto say Darkshire, but it's kind
of the same but there's an ogrecave in the bottom left of uh
duskwood and you need to kill aabout level 30 ish ogre elite
ogre he's pretty tough.
But we just came across I wasleveling with a druid of mine, a
(24:57):
druid friend.
I was a mage and we came acrossa druid and a mage so we parted
up because they had the samequest and we just sort of went
through this cave and he wasalready killed, the ogre.
So we all just sat there, usfour who had like two groups of
two, who had never known eachother whatsoever, and we just
chatted for about 10-15 minutesuntil the respawn came up.
(25:20):
And I still remember theirnames again, not say now, but I
still see them every now andagain, like going around
Stormwind, going aroundIronforge.
I do remember their names and Ido remember just what they look
like in our interaction withinthe game and that's just so fun
(25:41):
to see and remember because it'sjust a friendly person, a
friendly face that you seewithin the city, in amongst all
these gankers and the dispellersand stuff within the city as
well.
So it is quite a rare thing tofind friendly people and over
friendly people, but you don'tnecessarily never find them.
(26:04):
They are not invisible, theyare there.
You just got to open your eyesa bit more and look for them.
And it's a bit tougher in thecrowd of you know shit pretty
much.
But again, there's so manydifferent categories that you
can go into with people withinWoW.
(26:25):
There's so many differentcategories that you can go into
with people within WoW.
There's so many subsections, there's so many big sort of
points that you can make abouteach type of person that it
would take so long to go overthem all.
These are kind of the biggerones.
So you've got the annoyingpeople.
The complete opposite.
The friendly people, thegangsters and dispellers, are
sort of the smaller, kind ofjust smaller than the big ones.
(26:50):
Three big ones the pvp, pve andrp.
So they kind of deserve theirown sort of fourth place medal.
You know, just stick it ontheir chest, you know, wear it
with pride, congratulations.
They've actually won somethingin their life, these uh, gankers
and dispellers.
But that'll do it for today.
I have a lot of plans in termsof growing the podcast and I do
(27:14):
want to talk to you about howyou could help with that.
So we've set up a pick andwhistle patreon and it can be
very tough to sort of come bymoney nowadays, but anything
that you have spare that youwould like to contribute and
help grow the podcast would begreatly appreciated.
(27:39):
Now, I will not deny you thepodcast.
They will always be there foryour entertainment, no matter
what.
You do not have to pay a pennyto listen to these podcasts.
But if you happen to go thatextra mile, there will be some
benefits with regards to extrapodcasts like hints and tips
ones and many other perkstowards that helping out process
(28:01):
, many other perks towards thathelping out process, and it will
allow me to grow the podcast.
And you know, bring together acommunity is what I'm hoping to
do in the near future oflike-minded people who play WoW,
so you can sort of meet theseover-friendly and friendly
people within the game, get toknow each other and just have
(28:26):
fun playing the game that somany people have loved and I
love myself.
But again, it would be a.
It would just be greatlyappreciated if anything could be
said.
The patreon link iswwwpatreoncom.
Forward, slash, pig and whistlethat's pig the word, and and
(28:47):
then whistle patreoncom forwardslash, pig and whistle.
It would be greatly appreciatedif anything could be
contributed to the communitythat I'm trying to build and the
podcast that I'm trying toprovide for you guys.
Again, thank you all very muchfor listening.
As always, I'll stop myrambling now and go with
(29:10):
Valorfriend.
Goodbye all, thank you.
