In this discourse, we delve into the profound and multifaceted inquiries surrounding the afterlife, extending an earnest invitation for our audience to engage with their most pressing questions, regardless of their perceived simplicity. The essence of our conversation hinges upon the acknowledgement of grief as an inherent aspect of the human experience, a truth we all confront at various junctures in our lives. By cultivating an awareness of our emotional responses during the grieving process, we aspire to facilitate a journey towards acceptance and healing, wherein we honor the memories of our departed loved ones while grappling with our own pain. Throughout this series, we shall explore the foundational principles that govern our understanding of grief, enriched by insights gleaned from both personal experiences and the narratives of others who have traversed similar paths. As we embark on this reflective journey together, I encourage you to submit your questions, as they will guide our exploration of the intricate relationship between grief and the afterlife.

As the episode unfolds, the speakers extend an invitation to the audience, highlighting the importance of community engagement in confronting the complexities of grief. They introduce a new series aimed at addressing questions related to the afterlife and the emotional turmoil that often accompanies loss. If you've got questions on theafterlife, even if it's a question
you think is stupid, thenplease connect with me and ask me
those questions.
You'll be able to go to mysite and send that in as well, or
alternatively wait and see ifI cover them or go into my community
and do that.
That's my invitation.

(00:21):
Grief is a natural part oflife and we all experience it at
some point.
By becoming aware of ouremotions in the process of grief,
we can begin to accept andmove through our pain.
Acceptance doesn't mean thatwe forget or stop feeling the loss,
but it allows us to come toterms with it.
And finally, we can choose tohonor our loved ones by celebrating

(00:44):
their life and finding meaningin our grief.
Join me as we explore thesePillars of Grief and how they can
help us navigate the journeyof grief.
We will explore this journeytogether and you will hear from experiencers,
experts and researchers.
I'm Joc Brokis and this is thePillars of Grief.

(01:13):
And friends, this is Jock herefrom the Pillars of Grief.
And this is not, as you know,I'm not going to go straight into
a little snippet and then intothe main conversation.
I'm just going to jump rightinto it because this is an invitation.
It's an invitation to you guyswho are listening out there to join

(01:36):
me in some regular, an up andcoming series, regular up and coming
series that's going to happenevery kind of two weeks.
And the reason I'm doing thisis because of the amount of questions
that I have had.
Okay.
And if you wait until the endof this, there will be another invitation
for you to come and join meprivately to steer this by from your

(02:03):
own thoughts and your own questions.
So I, in my life of, you know, working as a medium has been over
two decades and my spiritualdevelopment has been more like, wow.
I mean, I'm 54 now, so it'sbeen a lot of years since my young

(02:25):
formative years spending timein the monastery with monks and priests
and people on retreat and myuncle who was a monk.
So I've always had that kindof spiritual ground.
And I've always had bigquestions about the universe.
I've always had big questionsabout other things, you know, mysterious

(02:48):
things.
And my experiences led me togo head to head sometimes with religion
where I would be gettingwarned off or I would be getting
told off for what I was doing.
And my experiences weren'tsupposed to be the experiences that
a young boy should have.

(03:08):
But then I find my questionslater in life never changed.
I Wanted to know what psychicability was all about.
I wanted to know when thesethings were labeled later on in life.
I wanted to know what's theother side.
That was life.
When people were dying in myfamily, when friends were dying,

(03:30):
and then when I grew up andlost friends from the military and
people that were close to meand from all the losses that I've
had, I've had these sameexistential crisis or these existential
questions about the reality ofexistence and the reality of the
afterlife.
And I have these questionsthat get sent to me on a regular

(03:52):
basis.
People who watch my YouTubevideos that then connect with me
in my community or my group, who then maybe connect with me on
Instagram and send me amessage or connect with me from something.
They've.
If I've been a guest onanother show, they've connected with
me and they've asked mequestions or they've just sent me

(04:13):
an email, they've joined mynewsletter, which I very rarely actually
ever send out.
And it's something I reallygot to do and that's maybe something
I'll talk about in the end.
They've always asked mequestions about, is the afterlife
real?
What is the afterlife like?

(04:34):
What happens when we die?
Can I eat in the afterlife?
My wife always last week andwe laughed together because she loves.
There's a place in South Walesthat we used to.
We were serving churches oranything in Wales.
We would then go to a placecalled Verdes.

(04:58):
And if Verdes is listening tothis podcast at all, then big shout
out to everybody in Verdes inSwansea, South Wales, because that's
a place that me and Joanneused to go all the time.
We'd finish maybe in thechurch in the evening where we'd
be taking a divine service, orwe'd be serving when we were visiting
from Scotland, and then we'dgo straight down to Verdes.
And Verdes became very much acommunity place that family would

(05:23):
go to.
And it's a phenomenal place.
And so the other thing is,because we loved this so much and
my wife loved this so much, she would always say, you know, when
we cross over to the otherside, I'm going to go to the Athletic
Verdes.
Because she wanted to stillhave her coffee on the other side
and she wanted to still haveher Verdisaze female tarot to form,

(05:45):
although I don't think they dothat anymore.
And that brings a certainlevel of comfort when you can imagine,
wow, what might it be likewhen I say, can I actually do that?
And so I've been very luckywhere you know, the many, many thousands
of readings I've done forpeople over the years.

(06:06):
I've been lucky to be party toinformation from the other side that
has kind of qualified andgiven evidence of what the other
side is like.
And I've done various amountof research into life on the other
side and from ancienttranscriptions from way back in the

(06:28):
days in the 1800s and fromvarious other different sources and
primarily also from my ownexperiences and also the experiences
of when I'm given, when I'mactually sitting counseling someone,
whether it be mediumship or inany other way.
These insights that comethrough and the evidence that comes

(06:52):
through from the other side oflife telling us what it's like and
experiences I've had with my.
Which a lot of you probablydon't actually realize that I had
a near death experience in acar accident.
Both my wife and I, we had aterrible car accident in north of
Scotland where we should havepassed and crossed over.

(07:12):
Cause it was a really seriousone and our car was totally wiped
off.
It was the big.
I mean I should go into astory about that at some other time.
It was actually reported in amagazine article and a spiritual
magazine many, many, manyyears ago just after it.
I can't remember how it cameabout that way.

(07:33):
But you know, suffice to say,as you can see, if you're hearing
me, then I'm still here.
I'm not coming from beyond andobviously you can see it.
So we survived that.
But I had a near deathexperience through that time and
that gave me insight into theother side.
But there's obviously as wella negative aspect of it because you

(07:56):
try to kind of.
I've said this to many of mycolleague researchers, you try to
hold on to that all the time.
And so what I'm going to do isI'm going to cover some of the greatest
questions that exist on thereality of the afterlife and what
it's like.
But I'm not just going to gointo just simple questions like do

(08:21):
we exist?
That kind of thing.
I'm going to go into reallyeven more deeper philosophical questions,
even spiritual questions basedon the karma.
Everything that I've learnedthrough my connection with the other
side and through my readings, when it's come through, when I've
actually sat with clients andevidence has come through that has

(08:43):
been corroborated in some wayfor that individual.
And so what I want to do is toshare these insights that I've had
over the many, many years ofme Developing and also working professionally
and researching and the amountof research that I've done and continue

(09:04):
to do, because I see that Istill get the same questions.
I still get people contactingme every week asking me these questions.
And especially when it comesto things like suicide and what happen
when someone commits suicideand so many loved ones.
And there's so much ignorancearound that subject matter.

(09:28):
There's so much negativitybased on dogma.
And I have many people thatcome to me that are suffering through
that loss and their upbringingor their religious beliefs, which
get challenged.
So it's kind of when they havean experience, they kind of go into

(09:50):
what's called an ontological shock.
Their whole ontology, thechange of the nature of reality changes
and it kind of throws them offlike a spiritual crisis.
So I have people that come atme that ask me loads of these questions
all the time.
And so I think it's time nowthat I brought this into the pillars
of grief.

(10:11):
So there's going to be lots ofquestions answered every two weeks.
I'm not going to say everyweek because I don't want to promise
it every week.
If I can do every week, Iwill, but every two weeks I'm going
to answer the question.
Now, this is your invitationbecause I would love you to join
me and send me in the questions.
And if you're grieving andyou're suffering through loss, you

(10:32):
can join my private community.
There'll be a link somewherewhere you can come in, join the private
community and ask me questionsdirectly in there, or list your questions
in there.
Or alternatively, you canconnect with me on Instagram.
Connect with me.
If you're watching this onYouTube, then obviously you can find
out my website and you canconnect me that way and answer these
questions.
I'm also going to put a littlesurvey form up on my website, chalkbrokers.com

(10:58):
where you can ask thequestions on this series.
And I'm then going to answerthese questions as much as I possibly
can with as much informationas I can based on my experiences,
based on my knowledge andresearch over the years, so that
it helps you to make aninformed decision.
I don't want you to come to itand think, well, he's right and he's

(11:20):
only right, and that's it.
No, just you make an informed decision.
I've got a lot of experienceand I want to kind of share it with
you.
I have got already listedprobably well over a hundred odd
questions.
I'm not going to because itwould take maybe actually probably
even more is gonna be brokendown into sections.
Now, there will be some ofthese will probably go into a little

(11:43):
mini course or something thatI'll have within my community where
people can come and go more indepth into that.
But for the most part, a lotof these questions I'm gonna answer
in each section.
In a philosophical section, aspiritual section, afterlife, a self,
you know, section about the self.
I'm gonna go through all ofthese things and answer.

(12:06):
And there may be questionsthat you have that I haven't covered.
Now, even if I haven't coveredit in my community, then there's
a chance that you may have adeep burning question that's not
covered then.
And maybe it's a combinationof different things that you want
to know so you can ask.
And then I will answer it.
And I'm going to answer it onthe Pillars of Grief podcast, on

(12:29):
audio, and obviously on videoso that you can see and you can hear,
you can get involved and youcan get engaged with me.
So that's what I wanted tojump on today to announce.
Not a discussion aboutanything else or, you know, or any
interviews.
I may even bring in someguests and we'll have a conversation
around this.
I'm also going to share someof the private.

(12:54):
No, I'm not going to shareprivate sentence, because I wouldn't
do that, but I'm going toshare the essence of what was learned
and how the evidence camearound so that you can learn that
for yourselves and you canmake a judgment.
So if you've got questions onthe afterlife, even if it's a question
you think is stupid, thenplease connect with me and ask me

(13:15):
those questions.
You'll be able to go to mysite and send that in as well.
Or alternatively, wait and seeif I cover them or go into my community
and do that.
That's my invitation.
If you want to come and joinmy private community, then you can
do that.
That's where you can.
You can get access to me evenmore and you can ask those questions
and I can bring them out.

(13:36):
I have got so, so many of them.
So much.
And I know that there's even more.
There's a lot more.
And even if you want to ask aquestion that's based on my book,
Deadly Departed, about thedangers of the afterlife, and because,
let's face it, ladies andgentlemen, you can't just think everything
in the garden's rosy.
It's not all flowers and rainbows.
But we only know good becauseevil exists.

(13:57):
And we know the evil's therebecause we have an understanding
of opposites and it's flu thatyou think that everything when you
cross over is safe and I'mprobably not well like that, but
there is that potential.
So if you really want to learnabout it and you really want to ask
the questions that nobody'sgoing to share with you, then do
it.
I'm not going to hold back.

(14:18):
I'm going to share with you.
So hopefully that'll give yousome great insight.
So I'm excited about thisbecause this series is as well as
other episodes and otherthings we're going to be doing, this
series is going to run forprobably the next six months to a
year.
That's how much informationI've got and how many questions I've

(14:39):
already been asked that peopleare waiting for answers to.
So hopefully come and join me.
Starting from next week ormaybe even this week, I'll bring
the first question out andthen every two weeks I'm going to
answer.
I promise every two weeks I'mgoing to bring out one of these answers.
I'm going to answer them.
If I can bring it out every week.

(15:00):
I'm not promising, but I willto keep the momentum going.
So keep these questions coming in.
Guys.
Thank you for joining me todayon Pillars of Grief.
I'm excited about this newedition that is coming up and also
there's gonna be an episodecoming up where it's about my up

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
