Mike (00:10):
Well, all right, Dave, we
are into March.
Kentucky Dave (00:13):
Yes, I know, man,
it is hard to believe that we
are two months in already.
It flew by.
Mike (00:23):
I think it's going to slow
down.
That's my personal opinion.
Kentucky Dave (00:25):
God, it's got to
man.
Mike (00:28):
Well, march is in like a
lion, out like a lamb right.
Kentucky Dave (00:31):
Yep.
Mike (00:32):
I hope we flip that around
.
That'd be our goal.
Kentucky Dave (00:35):
I'm just happy
that we've got sunshine and warm
occasionally.
Mike (00:40):
Occasionally.
Well, I just got back fromAtlanta.
It was a little nicer downthere than it was here today.
Yep, could have been anysunnier in Kentucky today, but
it was not particularly warm.
Kentucky Dave (00:52):
No, it was not
Not in the shade.
We're supposed to get some rainand warm weather coming up.
Mike (00:57):
Well, the daffodils are
poking above the mulch.
So it's coming, man.
Spring is coming, it's cominghard.
Well, along with spring is showseason.
Yep, yep, and I do not.
Folks, I'm sorry I've yet tomake it to a show, but my
illustrious co-host, kentuckyDave, has made it to a show.
Dave, where you been Went?
Kentucky Dave (01:18):
to the Columbus
show BlizzCon.
There was no blizzard, sothat's always good news.
Yeah, that was last year.
Yeah, really.
Um, you know, there was snow onthe ground and it was cold, but
there there, there was nosnowstorm driving up, no
snowstorm driving back.
It got to.
(01:39):
It's the first show of theseason that I've gotten to, but
not the first show of the season.
Mike (01:43):
You made that mistake,
that's right.
No, no, first show of theseason that I've gotten to, but
not the first show of the season.
You made that mistake already.
That's right.
Kentucky Dave (01:47):
No First show of
the season that I have gone to,
and what was great was I got tosee a bunch of friends and
listeners.
Got to see Inch In fact, I hadlunch with Inch.
Got to see Ben Pluth, got tosee a number of listeners, had a
(02:08):
great time with lee fogel, andthen got to meet some listeners
and talk modeling.
In fact, one of our listenerswanted to try photoetch.
So, oh yeah, I gotta follow up,don don't I?
Yes, you need to reach out andsend him that article, because I
(02:28):
talked to him about the articlethat you used as your guide.
I'm impressed you rememberedthat.
What can I say?
Mike (02:41):
Well, let me ask Any show
we've been to in the last year,
we've been behind the table fora fair amount of time.
You freelance this one.
Kentucky Dave (02:48):
Yes, I did not
have a table, because by the
time it became obvious that I,at least, was going to go, the
tables were sold out.
Mike (02:57):
So that's good for them.
Kentucky Dave (02:59):
So yes,
absolutely.
And boy, there were deals to behad.
It was a good show, the greatmodels on the table, good
turnout, the vendors were reallygood.
I spent some money, picked up afew things and had a great.
(03:20):
I mean it's rare that you go toa show and have a bad time.
I mean it's just fun.
You have to break your model orsomething.
Yeah, exactly, and even then I'mnot sure that's the worst thing
that could happen to you and wekeep emphasizing on here if
(03:43):
you're a modeler and you don'tgo to shows I'm not talking
about entering, but just atleast go to the show, Look at
the models that are entered, even if you don't enter.
I didn't enter a model, but thesocial aspects of modeling are
(04:05):
just so good and it's so muchfun and, like I said, I had a
number of conversations withfolks, listeners all modelers,
obviously and just reallyinteresting conversations that I
(04:26):
wouldn't have had, experiencesI wouldn't have had had I not
gone.
So, even though I had to drivethree hours up and three hours
back, all by my lonesome, I hada great time and I got to catch
up on some podcasts.
Mike (04:40):
Well, good for you, man,
Glad you went.
I'm sorry I couldn't go.
Kentucky Dave (04:43):
It's all right,
life intervenes, man, life
intervenes.
Mike (04:48):
On the vein of sorry, I
couldn't go.
Where are we going?
Kentucky Dave (04:53):
Well, I'm going
to Canada, that is, if they'll
let me in.
Heritage Con is the lastweekend.
Is it the last weekend orsecond to last weekend?
It's at the end of March andit's on a Sunday and Heritage
Con is.
(05:14):
This will be the third timeI've gone.
It is one of my favorite showsbecause, among other things, we
get to see all of our Canadianfriends.
The Hamilton Club really rollsout the red carpet for their
niceness and hospitality and itis absolutely true.
(05:38):
And the guys in Hamilton reallygo out of their way to make us
feel welcome when we show up.
And it's a model contest insidean aircraft museum.
I mean, you just can't beatthat.
Mike (05:56):
No, it's pretty nice, and
we've talked about that a lot.
Well, keeping my fingerscrossed, man, it's a day-by-day
thing.
Kentucky Dave (06:05):
Maybe something
will happen.
Maybe there will be a schedulereshuffle.
You know you can up until thenight before we leave, or I
leave, I know I've got a lot ofrunway.
Mike (06:17):
I do have a lot of runway.
You do.
Kentucky Dave (06:18):
You've got a lot
of runway.
I do have a lot of runway, youdo.
You've got a ton of runway.
So hopefully something willchange and you'll get to go,
because I know it's one of yourfavorite shows too, mike, how
(06:48):
many episodes do we have inMarch?
Mike (06:51):
We have two feature
episodes, dave.
Episode 136 and 137 are comingup.
All right, 136 is going to arecoming up.
All right, 136 is going to beanother Shop Talk episode, and
apparently this is getting somelegs Pleasantly surprised.
Yep, yep.
Kentucky Dave (07:07):
I enjoy them, I
mean.
Mike (07:09):
I do too, and I guess
after how long 40 plus years for
each of us in this hobby.
Kentucky Dave (07:15):
Yep.
Mike (07:16):
Maybe we learned a thing
or two, one or two things, one
or two, not that we're experts, but you know we got our opinions
and we've had experiences.
Kentucky Dave (07:26):
What I like is
the responses that we get,
because whatever subject wehappen to touch on, you'll get
listeners who will respond withtheir take on it or a tip or
something we didn't know, or apointer to a website.
It really is great theinteraction we get off of those
(07:51):
Shop Talk episodes.
Mike (07:54):
Well, after that episode
137, we are, for the first time
in 2025, we're bringing theWheel of Accidental Wisdom back.
All right and hopefully to beconfirmed yet.
Hopefully tomorrow, Dave.
Mr Ed Barath, out in Californiais going to be joining us in
third chair to offer his wisdom, and he's been at this a lot
(08:15):
longer than we have, so reallyanxious to see what he might
have to say on some of thesequestions.
Kentucky Dave (08:20):
So yeah, that'll
be fun.
Mike (08:23):
If that's not what's going
to happen for 137, you'll hear
about that in 136, but hopefullywe're on track to make that
work.
Well, Dave, we had a call toaction last month and it has
manifested itself on the dojo.
Kentucky Dave (08:43):
Yes, it has.
Mike (08:44):
Would you remind folks
what that was?
Kentucky Dave (08:47):
I was doing some
reorganization in my model room
because it had become socluttered that I was feeling
claustrophobic and kind ofgetting to the point where I
didn't want to come down intothe model room.
And so I talked about clutterand I talked about my hobby
(09:08):
space and I asked people toshare a photo of their hobby
space, their model room orwhatever, wherever they did
their building.
And boy did people respond, that's for sure.
I mean, we got to thank all ofyou who posted a photo of your
(09:32):
model space.
I enjoyed the heck out ofseeing them.
The ones that were on the messyside made me feel a little bit
better about myself.
The ones that were super neatand clean, that gave me
something to look to make as agoal.
(09:53):
Yeah something to strive for, something to strive for Very,
very well put, but all of themwere great to see put, but all
of them were great to see.
It's amazing how everyone isdifferent, but they all have
many of the same features.
I love the uniqueness of eachof them.
It was great.
We may have to harvest allthose and put them in a gallery
(10:16):
somewhere.
Mike (10:17):
We may have to.
Once we get to the gallerystage, we can just ask folks to
redo it Exactly, send us a photo.
But some of those that werepretty messy, I was like, yeah,
it looks like me about half thetime.
Some of those that were superorganized, I'm like that's me,
maybe never the time.
Kentucky Dave (10:35):
Yeah, that's me
never.
Mike (10:37):
At the old shop in the old
house.
Yeah, maybe, probably a littlebit, but yeah, that's what I
want to get back to, because Ilike being able to set my
workbench up for whatever I'mdoing and then move all that off
the workbench to get ready forwhatever's coming next.
So that's the way I like towork.
So, thanks a lot, folks.
(10:58):
We appreciate it and look forsome new call to action coming
up in one of the next twoepisodes.
We've got to do it again, Dave.
Kentucky Dave (11:04):
Yep, and,
speaking of the dojo, we've been
adding members steadily andpeople have been not just
posting photos of their workshopbut posting photos of what they
finished, what they're workingon, et cetera, et cetera.
And, guys, I love it.
(11:27):
It makes my day every day, nomatter what's going on, no
matter if I got plumbing woes athome or clients that are a
little bit difficult at work, every day I can look at the dojo
and I know it's going to bringa smile on my face.
So thank you all and pleasekeep contributing.
Mike (11:49):
Well, I second all that,
Dave, and let's get on with
March man.
Kentucky Dave (11:52):
That's right,
it's time, man.
I'll see you next time.
