Dobrovolní hasiči nám každý den pomáhají ve svém volném čase mimo své hlavní povolání. K tomu, aby nám mohli pomáhat, nestačí jen motivace, ale je nutná jejich odborná příprava a výcvik. Druhy mimořádných událostí, u kterých se můžeme s dobrovolnými hasiči setkat, je celá řada - od požárů domů, porostů, autonehod, povodní, a mnohé další. Příprava hasičů i jejich velitelů je časově náročná, a i přesto jsou tito hasiči plni zájmu se dále vzdělávat a rozvíjet se ve svém volném čase. Tyto poznatky a zkušenosti pak využívají ke zvýšení své bezpečnosti, ochrany zdraví, ale také pomoci druhým, efektivní a rychlé záchraně osob, zvířat a majetku.
