Jazida is a Canberra-based entertainer, producer and teacher. 21st Century Burlesque says “I will not forget her any time soon”.
Jazida has become recognised as one of Australia’s premiere burlesque performers, having been accepted to perform at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2018, selected as a Featured Artist for the Australian Burlesque Festival 2019, chosen as the representative Australian Headliner for the Perth International Burlesque Festival in 2019 and selected as teacher on the Australian Burlesque Cruise 2020! Her full length feature show "Catch Jazida" was funding for creative development and won Best Dance at the Adelaide Fringe Festival weekly awards.
With a performance style defined by cheekiness, character and creativity and with a specialty for fan dancing, Jazida has won the hearts of the audiences and judges and has won multiple awards including Miss Burlesque ACT 2016, Baby Bombshells as part of the 2016 Australian Burlesque Festival, Burlesque Idol Canberra 2015. She has many other accolades under her belt and two years running has been voted in the top 10 of people who have made the biggest contribution to the Australian Burlesque Scene at The Busties (the Australian Burlesque Industry Awards) and was also nominated for ACT Woman of the Year in 2020.
As well as being a performer, she teaches weekly classes, runs a performance troupe (Jazida’s Fabulous Fan Dancers) and also run workshops across Australia. She is the founder of #JazidaPoductions and puts on regular sold out shows (“Decadence and Debauchery” being her main touring production). She works to facilitate professional development opportunities for local alternate performing artists and is passionate about artist development (herself receiving a grant for creative development from ArtsACT in the ACT Government in 2019). In addition to this, her passion for burlesque has seen her become a member of the board for the Australian Burlesque Museum.
Her flair for theatrics is combined with technical versatility, allows Jazida to incorporate a range of aesthetics into her acts (making her available for neo burlesque performances, classic burlesque performances, fan dancing, live improvisation, corporate gigs, theatre productions and community/PG events). This versatility stems from her background in belly dancing where she debuted on stage in 2009 soon becoming a seasoned belly dancer in Turkish restaurants across Canberra.

Ruthie's Table 4
For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
