(00:02):
Hi, This is Stefano over atPositive Affirmations and audio Stories bringing you inspiration,
motivation and good energy to start yourday. And if your day has
already started a little bit of loveand good energy to help you keep going.
Today we're going to have a littletalk about spring cleaning, not your

(00:29):
house, spring cleaning your mind. Not just for the physical space, it's
also important to practice mental and spiritualspring cleaning. When we declor our homes,
our wardrobes, our closets, weget rid of stuff that we no

(00:53):
longer need or use. So it'simportant to do that very same thing with
our minds. Declutter our minds andour spirits of thoughts and beliefs that no
longer serve us. The metaphysical writerFlorence Scoville Sheen. She's the author of

(01:19):
the book called The Game of Lifeand How to Play It and many other
metaphysical books. She said, Ilet go of one out things. That's
what she counseled one of her clients, to free them up for a greater

(01:44):
abundance. I let go of wornout things. And so I've added to
that one out thoughts. So manytimes we have stuff just going round around
our head stuff years ago, monthsago, weeks ago, days ago,

(02:06):
hours ago, worn out thoughts, thoughts that don't do us any good or
anybody else. I'll let go ofworn out things and worn out thoughts.
This kind of pledge to ourselves canbring a sense of renewal and freedom really

(02:30):
and allow us to create space fornew growth, new possibilities in our lives.
But it's often not the kind ofthing you say at once and then
boom, everything's gone cleared out.We have to repeat that with affirmations,

(02:51):
which we will have a few ina bit. The mental spring cleaning.
It helps us to eye, dn'tify, and release those negative thoughts and behaviors
and emotions that no longer serve us. If we examine our thoughts and habits,
maybe is something that has to bedone a little bit of it at

(03:12):
a time. Maybe it's not somethingwe sit down once and all done.
Bit by bit, examine our thoughtsand habits and we become more aware of
the mental and emotional barriers that holdus back from reaching our full potential,
or somewhere near the full potential, just reaching a state of feeling better about

(03:35):
ourselves and our lives. Some ofthe things that we can get from doing
this mental spring cleaning exercise in prooffocus and clarity. Because we're not thinking
about so many things at once,we can prioritize what's really important and focus

(03:58):
on our goals of the now,not what we were aiming to do you
know some time ago. Focus onour goals of the now. And it
can help us too to reduce stressand anxiety because we're dumping a load that's
been on our shoulders like a tonof bricks. We're letting go of some

(04:19):
of those negative thoughts and reducing thestress and the anxiety. Even if we
didn't know that we were stressed,it reduces it. We can feel a
bit lighter, and we can becomemore self aware by doing this little bit

(04:42):
of self reflection. Doesn't have tobe totally deep, just opening our eyes
and being aware of what's going onright now and what needs to go with
love but what needs to So that'sone of the first steps, isn't it.

(05:03):
Just acknowledge the thoughts and beliefs thatare weighing us down, Like negative
self talk. We might think we'repulling ourselves up, we're encouraging ourselves,
but sometimes putting ourselves down. Sometimeswe don't need other people to put us
down because we're so good at doingit ourselves. That kind of stuff has

(05:28):
to stop somehow, bit by bit, but it has to stop this negative
self talk, that limiting beliefs. We could have some grudges, traumas,
just outdated beliefs about ourselves and theworld around us, these kind of things.

(05:48):
As much as we're able, let'stry to clear them out. And
talking about myself as well, I'mnot talking to you, I'm talking with
you, but recognizing these thoughts andbelieves, we can then release them as
best we are able and make roomfor more positive and empowering thoughts and feelings.

(06:14):
It might sound like I'm saying thesame thing over and over, but
sometimes we need to hear it indifferent ways because different people have different energies
and they respond in different ways differentkeys. So if we're ready to get
get out of our buckets and ourbrooms, do a bit of spring cleaning

(06:35):
of the mind. First thing,Let's have some time for reflection. You
don't have to sit and go intothe younger polls. Just quiet space,
take a walk, go sit inthe park, go sit on your sofa,
just have a little time this isthe time that I'm going to work

(06:55):
on me. Then there's mindfulness, which I interpret as watching your thoughts or
sometimes you can't control them, butwe can catch them and turn them around.
Then there's journaling. Journaling is verygood on your phone or going to

(07:16):
old school with paper and pen, writing down your thoughts and emotions, letting
them out. Use that journal toexplore and reflect on the clutter and things
going on in your mind. Sometimeswe've got to ask for help too.

(07:38):
Don't be afraid, but ask forhelp from somebody you trust, not someone
who has their best heart intentions going, because they might try to lead you
in the direction which best serves them. So use your intuition. If you've
got to see support from a friendor family, even a therapist, go

(08:03):
with someone you trust. Then thisone is, imprinciple, an easy thing,
but sometimes it's so hard because weare so busy. Practice self care

(08:26):
activities that help us relax and renewour energy and strength, like our yoga,
meditation, nature, going to thegym. Sometimes we can get a
good deal of thought going. Whenwe're at the gym, it kind of
stimulates our bodies, but not onlyour bodies. Simulates our minds, just

(08:48):
getting that energy flowing through our body. And then some people may think that
is just saying pretty words, butaffirmations really are powerful statements that we are

(09:11):
programming ourselves with in a positive way. Instead of saying I'm stupid, i
can't do this, I'll never makeit, I'm too old, I'm too
old. I do this. I'mdoing that. Yess declutter positive energy.

(09:33):
I have here some affirmations. Iwill say them. Ordinarily I would leave
a bit of a space between theaffirmations for you to say afterwards, but
since this is a podcast, youcan replay it. But I'll put these

(09:54):
affirmations in the show notes. That'swhat I'll do. Then you can see
them, work with them. Whichones resonate with you, Maybe you can
journal them, journal on them.I release all thoughts and beliefs that no
longer serve me. I am worthyof love, abundance, and happiness.

(10:22):
I let go of past hurts andforgive myself and others. I trust in
the process of life and know thateverything is unfolding as it should. I
am deserving of all the good thatcomes my way. I release fear and

(10:50):
doubt and embrace courage and faith.I am free to create a life of
joy fulfillment and purpose. I releasethe need to control everything and surrender to
the flow of life. I amgrateful for the lessons of the past and

(11:16):
excited for the possibilities of the future. And let go of comparison and embrace
my unique gifts and talents. Irelease negative self talk and replace it with
self love and compassion. I trustin my inner wisdom and follow my intuition

(11:45):
with confidence. I release the burdenof perfection and accept myself as I am.
I am open to new opportunities andexperiences that align with my highest good.

(12:09):
I release the need to police othersand prioritize my own well being and
happiness. These affirmations the reminders Sometimeswe have good intentions, but we start

(12:37):
slipping backwards. Affirmations can help usto pull ourselves back up when we find
ourselves faltering in our resolve to letgo of what no longer serves us.
Sometimes hanging on to what no longerserves us serves the purpose of keeping us

(12:58):
safe. We don't have to movebeyond because of this thing, so sometimes
it can be a safety device, but sometimes we just want to let it
go. There are other ways tofeel safe than putting ourselves down or ruminating
about the past. And these affirmationsthey're not cure alls, but these affirmations

(13:22):
can help us to move forward. We just have to keep going steady effort,
but I like to think of itas joyful effort, not a pain.
It might be difficult and sometimes, but really we're not punishing ourselves by
moving forward and letting go of thoseold things and thoughts that no longer service

(13:48):
will bring us joy. It's springtime for us to dig deep and really
really finally get the positive lifestyle thatwe deserve. So this is not just
a collection of words. We willbe living the positive lifestyle that we deserve.

(14:11):
Is time for a spring cleaning.Everybody, me too, NASA For

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
