Thank you for joining us on this episode of the Positive Affirmations And Audio Stories podcast.

We've got a phone chat recording episode today, so why not settle in and have a listen! Talking and thinking about transforming "bad" habits or those habits that do not sit well with us, into a more self empowering way of thinking, being and living.

Can we be positive in mind, free of so-called bad habits, non-stop every day? Maybe not, but we can certainly make a good start on being more positive thinkers. Lots to think about here! What's your feeling about this subject?

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi, this is Stefana over add positive affirmations and audio
stories bringing you happy thoughts, inspiration, motivation, and entertainment to
start your day. We use the power of positive words
to help you lift the positive, uplifting lifestyle that you deserve.

(00:25):
Today we've got a little chat about overcoming bad habits,
or more exactly, habits that we personally consider bad and
which affect us negatively or make us feel uncomfortable when
we engage in these bad habits. Someone else might not

(00:48):
think is a bad habit, but if it is bothering us,
then we might want to do so think about it.
So today we've got a few ideas on how to

(01:09):
break free from the unwonted habits, but doing it without criticism,
without judgment, doing it with compassion, understanding, and patience. Because
it might not happen overnight. Sometimes we can say I'm

(01:31):
tired of this and boom is done. Sometimes it takes time.
It's important to know that bad habits don't make us
bad people. They're just behaviors that we've developed over time,
sometimes because of stress, sometimes because we're bored or some

(01:56):
other things. But if we we recognize these habits as
learned behaviors. Then we can start to see them with
a bit of curiosity and more importantly than that, non judgment,
not kicking ourselves because we're doing this thing over and

(02:21):
over and every time we do it we feel bad.
Then we go and do it again. None judgement, compassion.
Here's a few things that we can do, we can try.

(02:42):
All of them might not be right for you, but
there might be even one that hits the spot. So
let's give it a try. First thing, practice self forgiveness.
We got to be kind to ourselves and recognize that

(03:03):
nobody's perfect, even if they may look like perfect. Nobody's perfect.
You've been doing the best you can, so give your
self permission to make mistakes and give yourself wisdom and

(03:24):
trust your intuition to help you stop making those things
that you consider to be mistakes. Then next thing, empathy.
Let's open our hearts our minds to invite welcome the

(03:50):
quality of empathy. Just know that everybody has their own struggles,
including you me, So if we can connect with others
who share similar challenges, it's like we have a little
support network and we don't feel so lonely, and we

(04:14):
have we would have people who help pick us up
when we start flagging and don't think that we can
make it over this hump. They can help us. This
could be people that you know face to face people,
or it could be online. But do be careful if

(04:36):
you're gonna look for help online, find a group people
that you can trust, because many people can be expert
but not really an expert. So just be careful if
you're gonna look online, if you are going with your

(04:59):
online friends, but a lot of help can be found
that way. In positive groups, a lot of help can
be found. So strengthen numbers. Next, self love, nurture self love.

(05:24):
We must remember to take care of ourselves through this
process of moving from one level of a habit to
a newer, more empowered level. Let's take care of ourselves, rest,

(05:45):
nourish our body, and indulge in activities that make us
feel good. Make us feel better. If we don't get
enough sleep, if we're not eating the right foods, foods
that make us feel good, it's going to be really
hard to change that habit because we just don't have

(06:06):
the energy, the mental energy, the physical energy, or the
spiritual energy. So do Let's take care of ourselves through
this journey. Then we've got ourselves together mentally. You got
to handle on the spiritual vibration. How about some practical stuff.

(06:33):
One thing, create a new routine. Think of a healthier
alternative to this unwanted habit that you want to grow
out of. Replace it with something else. Then your mind
is not trying to be split, is focused on the new,

(07:00):
which makes you less likely to kick yourself when you
slide back, because you got something to turn to again
and give it another go. So try creating a new routine,
a new way of thinking. Then next thing, this is

(07:23):
an important one because sometimes we don't even know this
is a problem. Look for the triggers. Those are situations, emotions,
or thoughts that lead us to practice this bad habit.

(07:47):
We might want to start this trigger search by journaling.
Make a note of what said you off into your
bad habit. Is it a certain time of day, is
it a certain person, is a certain situation that you're in?

(08:11):
Find the pattern, identify that trigger. Then once we can
see it objectively, then we can make some strategies to
avoid it. If we can't avoid it, we can try
to figure out some ways to manage it in a

(08:32):
more positive way. Next step. Let's you've probably heard about
this many many times. Mindfulness. The mindfulness can help us
stay in the present moment and notice when we're slipping

(08:55):
into a bad habit. Because with these bad habits, we
often just fall right into it, don't we, You and me,
all of us. We often do it unconsciously without thinking
about it. But if we try to be a little
more mindful when we start slipping into it, stop right

(09:20):
then stop and change direction before we get too carried away.
Just take a few deep breaths, focus on the now,
and change directions as soon as possible. The last thing

(09:43):
that we can suggest, and I'll do it infographic and
I'll put it on the coffee page, so you could
have a list of these steps and you can do
a screenshot of it or download it. But I'll do
that for you. Blessing affirmations they're not just pie in

(10:07):
the sky lovely sayings. Affirmations are really a concrete way
to ground yourself. Develop positive affirmations to support this journey
from moving from one habit which is not pleasing to you,

(10:31):
to a better way of doing things. I am capable
of change, I am committed to my well being. Things
are always working out for me. It's safe to move

(10:53):
on from this habit. It's safe to try something new.
I am worthy, I deserve it. Things like that. Whatever
affirmation comes to you from your heart is the affirmation
that is right for you and that will help you.

(11:20):
So just be patient with yourself, work on strengthening yourself,
moving away from habits that you consider by putting quotes
bad or not productive or not self empowering into something better.

(11:50):
And that's it. If you need a little more inspiration.
In between the podcast episodes, feel free to visit our
coffee page. You can find the website address in the
show notes. And as I said, I will prepare an
infographic of the points that we covered today, so you
can have a look. Sometimes we can hear stuff, but

(12:10):
when we actually see it it helps it sink in
a bit more. So over there on the coffee page
you'll find that, and you'll also find motivation inspiration media
and if you want, you can buy the coffee. Yes,
please a coffee on goffee or just I will look
around enjoying, just getting spired. So have a good day,

(12:37):
a good week, a good life, stay well, be happy
