were changes that come with ageor bad genes, and we weren't
finding answers to traditionalroutes.
So we dug into the research andcreated our secret nutritional

(00:44):
weapon sustainable plant-basedliving.
The truth is, you can eat morewhole plant foods, and it's not
hard.
You just need the way.
That's realistic and deliciousso you never feel deprived.

your health struggles andactively live your life, then
you're in the right place.

(01:05):
So grab your favoriteplant-based cup of happy pop in
those earbuds and let's getstarted.
Well, hey, sunshine, we are sohappy to have you joining us
today on Power on Plants podcast, the place where we explore all
things whole food, plant-basedthe delicious, rapid and simple
way for lasting health.
We're your host, jared andanita russell, and if you're

(01:28):
looking for a genuine, supportive christian podcast and
plant-based family, you foundyour home.
Today we're talking aboutsomething a little different,
something that goes beyond justthe what of our diet and delves
into the how and the why of ourlives, making every day a
special occasion.

(01:48):
How many of us have thingstucked away waiting for that
elusive special day?
Maybe it's the fine china youinherited from your grandmother
that's regularly gathering dustin the china cabinet.
Perhaps it's a beautiful set ofcloth napkins reserved only for
the holidays.
Or maybe it's a specialingredient like a fancy bottle

(02:10):
of balsamic vinegar or a rarespice that you've been saving
for a someday meal.
It can be easy to get caught inthe mindset of waiting, waiting
for the perfect moment, theperfect guest, the perfect
occasion.
But what if we shifted ourperspective?
What if we decided that todayis the special day?

Jarrod (02:32):
And think about it.
Waiting for the special timesoften extends beyond material
possessions.

Anita (02:37):
I absolutely agree.
It can seep into our habits, our routines and even our
approach to food.
For instance, we might save ourbest recipes for weekends or
holidays, sticking with theroutine meals during the week.
We might postpone thatenjoyable walk in nature,
waiting for a day we can havemore time to enjoy it.

(03:00):
We might even put off calling aloved one, thinking we'll do it
later.

Jarrod (03:06):
And the sad thing is is later, often never comes, and
those special days we're waitingfor, they're often just
ordinary days that we'veelevated in our minds.

Anita (03:13):
That is so true.
The real blessing lies infinding the specialness in the
everyday.
So how do we break free fromthis trap?
It starts with making anintentional decision to embrace
the current moments, and whatbetter way to do that than
through the lens of our wholefood, plant-based lifestyle?
So let's start with the finechina or your special dishes.

(03:35):
Today is the perfect time todust those off.
Use the beautiful bowls foryour weeknight lentil soup.
Set the table with the clothnapkins, even if it's just for a
simple salad, and that fancybalsamic vinegar.
Drizzle it generously over theroasted vegetables you're eating
tonight.
Don't wait for the specialoccasion.

(03:58):
Create one.

Jarrod (03:59):
So this isn't just about using the nice things.
It's about cultivating amindset of appreciation and joy
and thankfulness to God for allhe's given us.

Anita (04:08):
I couldn't agree more.
I think it's when we use ourbest things that we're sending a
message to ourselves and thosearound us that this moment
matters, that we matter Now.
Here are some other specificideas inspired by whole food,
plant-based living, to maketoday feel like the special day.
Elevate your meal presentation.

(04:30):
Even a simple meal can feelspecial with a little extra
effort.
So consider lighting a candletonight to make the atmosphere
more beautiful, or even put onsome relaxing music.

Jarrod (04:42):
You could also try a new recipe.
Don't save those exciting newwhole food plant-based recipes
just for the weekend.
Pick one that intrigues you andmake it tonight.

Anita (04:52):
This is one of my favorite tips.
I'm so glad you shared this onebecause you're making me hungry
right now Just thinking aboutall the different opportunities.
I mean there are so many thingsthat you can make that are
whole food, plant-based anddelicious.

Jarrod (05:05):
It's endless.

Anita (05:06):
Yeah, and why make the same old thing every single time
?

Jarrod (05:09):
And if you're new to whole food, plant-based eating,
and you're not sure what to make, check out our cookbooks at
poweronplantscom slash cookbook.
That's poweronplantscom slashcookbook.
As the official taste tester, Ican personally testify that
Anita's recipes never disappoint, even it's a weeknight.
Taking this step of tryingsomething new can make the usual

(05:32):
days feel more important.

Anita (05:34):
Yeah, you never complained very much about being
the taste tester.

Jarrod (05:37):
No, I can't say that I ever have.

Anita (05:39):
And then embrace seasonal ingredients.
Visit your local farmer'smarket or even just the produce
section of your grocery storeand choose something that's in
season and looks especiallyvibrant.
Today, Celebrate the blessingof whole plant food by
incorporating that seasonalingredient into your meal.
And then take some time to getoutdoors during the week to

(06:02):
enjoy the gift of nature.
Even a short walk after yourmeal can be incredibly
restorative during a busy week.
So take a few minutes to stepoutside, breathe deeply the
fresh air and appreciate thebeauty that surrounds you,
praising God for the joy of hiscreation.
Also, practice gratitudethroughout this week.

(06:24):
Take some time every day toreflect on the good things in
your life.
What are you grateful for thatGod has blessed you by today?
This one simple practice alonecan shift your perspective and
make even the most ordinary dayfeel special, and this one is
super important.
Do not wait to connect.

(06:45):
Reach out to someone you careabout today.
Call a friend, write a letteror simply send a text message
letting them know that you'rethinking of them and make their
day special too.

Jarrod (06:58):
So the special day is no longer some distant point in
the future.
It's today I love future.
It's today, I love that.
It's every day.
Start today, intentionallychoosing to make the current
moments matter and find joy inthe simple things.

Anita (07:12):
In this way, we can create a life that feels rich
and fulfilling every day and ourwhole food plant-based
lifestyle, with its emphasis onthe fresh, vibrant foods and
intentional living, is theperfect foundation for the
celebration of now.
So go ahead, break out yourfine china, use the great stuff,

(07:34):
make tonight's Whole FoodPlant-Based meal a feast for
your senses, because, as Jaredsays, today is the special day.

Jarrod (07:42):
But break out the fine china, don't break the fine
china.

Anita (07:47):
Don't break the fine china, that won't feel so
special.
