Anita (00:00):

are thrilled to be talking toyou about 12 things that we do
not miss.
Jarrod (03:23):
Now that we eat whole
food, plant-based, that power on
plants way, the first thing wedon't miss is feeling like we
need to deeply disinfect theentire kitchen after each meal
absolutely do not underestimatehow much time that you will
waste doing this, and if youdon't, then you very well may be
going to bed at night thinking,oh, what is on my kitchen
(03:45):
surfaces that I did not takecare of?
Anita (03:48):
Oh my word, have you ever
seen the YouTube video?
If you haven't, you need to goand Google this.
I wish I knew the exact wordsto tell you to Google, but you
could find this on YouTube.
There's a video and I'm surethere's probably more than one
of these women cooking in theirkitchen and they think they're
being clean and they're washingtheir hands all the time, but
they're using chicken, they'recooking with chicken and meat
and they go back later with ablue light and they show
(04:09):
everything the women havetouched and all this potential
for salmonella and all thedifferent bacteria that are in
chicken.
And this is really importantwhen it comes to chicken and
other meats, because we do knowthat not only can it make you
sick and give you GI bugs andcause all kinds of problems,
they're also linking justtouching chicken with increase
(04:31):
in UTIs urinary tract infections.
So this is something reallyimportant to note.
That's another thing.
You don't have to miss All theurinary tract infections.
Let's just talk about that fora moment.
As a woman who had to deal witha lot of those in my past,
that's a bonus for you.
We don't miss those at all.
But what I want to point out isall the time I wasted and Jared
(04:53):
wasted feeling like we neededto deeply disinfect our entire
kitchen after every meal becauseof the meat products that we
were using.
Jarrod (05:02):
The juices and all that
stuff that got around the
kitchen and it just happens.
You can say you're going to becareful, but splatters happen.
And I did want to mentionsomething because you said UTIs.
You may think I will just washmy hands and that will take care
of it.
Nope, sorry.
The science shows when youtouch it you're already exposed
(05:22):
to it and really there's noamount of hand washing that gets
rid of that.
So that's not even just on yoursurfaces, that's on your hand.
If it gets on your skin it'sgoing to make its way to the
rest of your body.
It just is.
Anita (05:35):
Isn't that gross.
Jarrod (05:36):
I'm sorry to gross y'all
out.
Anita (05:37):
But look, these are the
things we wish somebody had told
us years ago, and you'regetting it right here and you
don't have to try to figure thisstuff out on your own.
We're just going to share itwith you.
So number one is we don't missout on that feeling of needing
to deeply disinfect our entirekitchen after each meal, which
leads us to the second thingthat we don't miss out on, now
that we eat whole food,plant-based, which is a greasy
(05:59):
oily kitchen, or having to cleanour cabinets and our counters
with oil removers or things thattake the grease and the grime
off our countertops and our potsand our pans and our cabinets.
Yes, we still clean our kitchen, but it is so much faster, I
mean, without the oil coveringeverything.
Think about your stovetop andhow it pops and gets all into
your stove and everything and sowe cook oil free which makes a
(06:22):
huge difference.
So we're not pouring oil intoeverything or frying things, but
we're also not getting the oilsand fats coming off of the meat
as it's cooked, because wedon't cook meat anymore and when
you don't cook meat you don'thave the splatters and the oil
and the grease that gets intothe air and gets onto your
things and covers your cabinetsover time.
It is just so gross and wedon't miss it at all.
Jarrod (06:46):
If you've ever seen that
shellac that's on the hood or
on the cabinets near your stove, that's what that is.
But that has been baked on bytime and heat and it gets thick
and it's hard to remove.
Anita (06:58):
Yeah, even if you wipe it
off every time, if you're
diligent every time, it is justsuch a pain to try to get that
oily greasiness off ofeverything.
And I want to throw this inthere.
If it's doing this to yourcabinets and your countertops
and your pots and your pans, what are these foods doing to
the inside of your body, to yourdigestive tract, to your
(07:18):
vessels, to your good bacteria,to your energy levels?
Let's just throw that out there.
You have to think these thingsthrough to their natural end.
So that's the second thing.
We don't miss Greasy and oilykitchen cabinets, countertops,
pots and pans.
Jarrod (07:35):
Number three food
hangover After one of these
non-plant based meals.
Anita (07:40):
Now, jared coined this
term and I think it confuses a
lot of people because they stillthink it has to do with alcohol
, with the hangover.
So you've got to clarify what afood hangover is.
Jarrod (07:48):
Food hangover is when
you eat that traditional,
standard American diet meal.
You feel that sluggishness andlack of energy.
I used to think that that was asign of a good meal because my
body was having to rest anddigest.
But I later found out, no, itwas my body, I won't say
rebelling.
Anita (08:07):
I was thinking revolting.
Jarrod (08:09):
I was thinking.
It was more like my body, and Itell my patients this whenever
I'm discussing this.
My body is saying Jared, I canno longer support the decisions
you're making.
We've got to shut you down fora little while while we clean up
.
We are not happy with thechoices you have made.
Go take a nap for an hour.
Quit doing this to us.
(08:29):
Let us have some semblance of acleanup period here.
Anita (08:33):
Right, but the thing is,
you did this meal after meal
after meal.
I mean, that's what we used todo.
We would always have some meator some cheese or some dairy or
some oil or, if we're beingquite honest, a combo of all of
these, meal after meal aftermeal, and so your body really
doesn't ever get to recover.
Jarrod (08:52):
And I think that's why
some people have trouble
believing what we say aboutplant-based meals and how they
affect our energy is becausethey've never felt that after a
meal.
Anita (09:02):
Yeah, it's amazing.
Jarrod (09:03):
All they've ever felt is
that hangover sensation.
So it's just normal, it's justthe way that it is.
Anita (09:10):
You can totally be free
from this.
One of our clients called thisfood freedom.
She coined it One of our firstclients we ever worked with.
She said you have given me foodfreedom.
Food doesn't have a hold on me.
I don't get the sluggishness, heaviness, all those feelings
that I used to get from foodanymore.
I actually love my food and myfood loves my body back.
That is food freedom.
Jarrod (09:31):
Which then takes us into
point number four, that
constant low energy.
So when your body is sluggishand we do know that your blood
actually gets thicker with allthose oils and the greasiness of
the meat, but when that happens, what is that going to do to
your energy?
Anita (09:47):
Oh, it just tanks it.
I mean that's how I livedconstantly.
It was a constant battle withmy energy.
I was always tired.
I didn't understand why we wereeating free range, cage free,
organic nitrate, nitrite free,no RBS, hormone added, I mean
you name it.
We were buying it from the farm, fresh pasteurized milk, blah,
blah, blah, blah, blah.
(10:07):
I mean we were doing all thisstuff to eat quote, clean, and
yet we were our sickest we hadever been.
I mean that was at age 40.
Now I'm at 53.
And it's like I reach nighttimeand I'm having to force myself
to go to bed.
That is a totally differentkind of problem to have than
having to drag yourself throughthe day.
When your husband comes home, you're like, look, if I'm going
(10:28):
to possibly get you any kind ofmeal, I'm going to have to pull
a stool up to the stove to cookit for you while you go take
care of the kids.
That is just no way to live.
Jarrod (10:37):
No, it was.
Take these kids if you have anyhope of a dinner.
Anita (10:41):
Constant low energy, we
do not miss.
We happily kiss you goodbyeforever.
Jarrod (10:46):
Bye-bye.
Anita (10:49):
Next, the daily aches and
pains.
I dealt with this constantly.
I mean joint pain, constantaching, hurting, not feeling
good, my arms, my shoulder I'vehealed from frozen shoulder two
times.
I've had all kinds of crazystuff with my body just
unexplained aches and pains.
And we just start to think, oh,that's normal, oh, it's just a
(11:10):
part of aging.
I mean, we hear it.
It becomes a part of the lingoin our society, which is
absolutely ridiculous.
Don't be saying stuff like thatoh, I'm just getting older.
Oh well, you know how it is.
As you get older, watch yourlingo.
We start saying things.
Then we start believing thethings we say and we start
living into the things we speakbecause that's what we believe.
But it's not true.
(11:31):
That is not normal.
It's not normal to ache andhave pains as you get older.
We should be going fromstrength to strength.
Specifically, as a Biblebeliever, I want you to start
looking at these things, startwrapping your mind around the
things like hey, when Moses wentto be with the Lord, he was
quite old and he climbed up amountain where God took him.
(11:53):
Okay, he didn't need someassistive devices and his vision
was not dimmed.
Look at Joshua, look at Calebwhen they went to go into the
land, he said no, I feel so good, Give me the hill country.
Okay, it's not normal for us tobe sluggish and not feel good,
but we've let the enemy lie tous for far too long and it's
time to break free.
That is why I absolutely loveour course accelerator, because
(12:16):
I take you through thesebiblical principles as well of
why it is that we believe thesethings for far too long.
What are the lies that webelieve that are keeping us
stuck?
And once you can get free fromthe stuff and see it, you can't
unsee it Like you cannot unseeit and you will never talk to
yourself the same way and youwill not be stuck anymore.
You can get free from theconstant low energy and daily
(12:38):
aches and pains because they arenot normal as you age.
Jarrod (12:43):
We think that we believe
these things because they're
true, but actually it's becausewe believe them that we think
they're true.
So we believe that aches andpains are a normal process of
aging.
So then that must be truth.
But it's not.
Anita (12:58):
So what you're saying is
we let our experience define our
outcome.
We let our experience defineour truth, instead of like truth
define our experience.
Jarrod (13:09):
Exactly, that's a whole
different thing.
Anita (13:11):
It's a whole different
life to live.
You do not have to stay stuckthere.
So we do not miss flow ofenergy, we do not miss the
constant aches and pains, andthe other thing we don't miss is
the dieting mentality.
Jarrod (13:23):
Oh, that is so pervasive
.
Anita (13:25):
Are you kidding me?
Jarrod (13:27):
It's so pervasive and I
think many people have it and
don't even realize it, justbecause it's become so ingrained
in our vernacular and our dailyexperience and our day-to-day
meal choices, thinking I musteat this because it is a diet
food, or I must limit how much Ieat, and it becomes really very
consuming with all thosedifferent details instead of
(13:48):
just getting to enjoy the foodRight.
Anita (13:50):
And that's how God meant
for it to be, and I don't think
we realize how we have beensideswiped and sidetracked and
been taught all these things byour enemy.
He is a conniving thief whowants to steal from you, kill
you and destroy you.
He wants to take your joy away, and that includes the joy of
properly fueling your body bygetting you stuck in these
(14:12):
miserable dieting methods, manyof which you may recognize, but
you don't know how to break freefrom them.
Other ones you probably don'teven recognize that they're
there and you've been suckedinto them and you believe these
lies about things that arenecessary and normal to achieve
lasting weight loss or toachieve optimal health, which
are just not true.
And these, again, are thingsthat we deal with and break down
(14:32):
inside our accelerator course.
You can learn more about it andget on the wait list at
poweronplantscom forward slashaccelerator.
The doors are opening againvery soon, so make sure you're
on the wait list.
You do not want to miss outthis.
This is life changing.
We're getting some incredibletestimonials from our clients
who have already gone throughthis, saying this was the
(14:53):
missing key that I needed.
Amanda just shared with me.
I've tried to do this for so,so long and I was not able to
break free.
And now I'm out doing thingswith my kids, feeling amazing
and loving the food that I'meating, and I think that is just
the key you break free and youunderstand these things that
you've thought for so long thatweren't true and all of a sudden
(15:14):
you realize I can eat thesefoods and I can have them in a
way that I actually like them, they excite me and they love my
body back.
Are you kidding me?
I don't have to give up all myfavorite things.
I still have the foods I loveand I can escape the dieting
mentality.
It's absolutely incredible thefreedom that you're going to
gain when you can get rid ofthese things that the enemies
(15:36):
placed into your life, thesebeliefs that just are not true
and they're keeping you stuck.
Jarrod (15:41):
All right.
Number seven of things we donot miss being plant-based,
trying to figure out oursymptoms or, even worse, trying
to get a diagnosis.
Anita (15:52):
help me I mean, how much
time do we spend googling
symptoms?
Don't do that, don't get onlinegoogling symptoms.
How many doctors do we go totrying to get answers for the
different things that we weredealing with in our body before
we realized how simple it can beto reverse the most common
chronic diseases of our time?
Yes, that includes high bloodpressure, high cholesterol,
(16:14):
autoimmune diseases like IBS andrheumatoid.
It includes things likemigraine headaches.
It includes allergies.
It includes so many things thatwe're told are chronic, are
stage four, that people look atus and tell us a diagnosis and
label an amount of time on usand then we take that on us as
our reality.
No, you do not have to spendyour time trying to figure out
(16:36):
these symptoms or get adiagnosis.
We're not saying don't go tothe doctor, but what we are
saying to you is you can get sointo Googling your symptoms and
worrying about this and what ifthat, and you can plan out your
life according to what Googletells you.
You do not want to get yourselfinto that situation.
Just break free from that rightnow.
That does not have to be yourstory.
Jarrod (16:56):
It almost sounds like a
terrible party game.
Guesty ache or pain.
Anita (17:01):
That is awful.
Jarrod (17:03):
It's in your right
shoulder.
It's been going on for threemonths.
It's a dull ache, unremitting.
What's that pain?
Anita (17:10):
That is so bad, but it's
so true and that was our reality
for so long.
And we, our hearts, are for you.
We do not want to see you haveto go through this.
It just does not have to be somany things that you are told
are chronic, that you'll havefor life.
You are not going to have it.
I had fibrocystic breastdisease.
I had interstitial cystitis, which is a terrible bladder
disease.
(17:30):
I have had clangylar fasciitis.
I've had frozen shoulder twice.
I have had nodules that havedisappeared.
I've had all kinds of stuff goaway.
The aches and pains, the lowenergy, just the inability alone
, just to live life.
The inability to live life.
Think about that.
I mean, it steals from you yourability to do what God has
(17:52):
placed you here to do andthere's just no reason for it.
And the fact that it could bethe food.
And you're going to all theseappointments and trying to
figure it out and nobody'stelling you it could be the food
, and nobody's telling you howto do this and how to make it
simple and how you can actuallyenjoy these foods and how you
can get out of the kitchenfaster and how you'll never feel
deprived and how.
You're now two, three weeksdown the road, enjoying life,
(18:15):
and your numbers are coming backto normal and you're coming off
your medications under yourdoctor's supervision.
It is absolutely what we seehappen time and time again.
It's why we're so passionateabout this way of living.
Jarrod (18:27):
I almost feel like this
would be equivalent to a
mechanic car analogy, I know, but a mechanic going to school
never being told about there's afilter in the fuel line so he
never changes it, neveraddresses it, never tells you
the owner.
Hey, you know what?
Sometimes the fuel line may getclogged so the gas isn't going
(18:48):
to go through like it normallyshould.
So you're not going to have itin the cylinders and your car's
going to act sluggishly and itwon't respond when you hit the
gas pedal and nobody just tellsyou about that.
So you think my car's a fewyears older.
It's just going to happen thatway.
No, it doesn't just happen thatway.
It doesn't have to happen thatway.
Anita (19:08):
Yeah, and I think number
eight goes with number seven.
So number seven was trying tofigure out our symptoms or, even
worse, trying to get adiagnosis, and eight is then
trying how to figure out how toescape them or how to get
healthy.
Like, we just think it's sodifficult.
We spend all this time tryingto figure out how do I escape
this, how do I get healthy?
It's like what I explainedbefore, and I'm eating all these
(19:35):
things that I feel like aregood because I somehow know that
the food is the answer, but I'mstill eating all the wrong
things.
And then I realized hey, fruitsand vegetables are the answer,
but I don't know how to eatthose in the way.
That's quick, simple anddelicious and that's just so key
.
When you can grasp that andunderstand that, you can easily
escape the symptoms withouthaving to try to figure out how
to do it, because you couldlearn from somebody who's
already figured out how and canshow you in a very short amount
(19:57):
of time how to escape thosethings and be optimally healthy
from the inside out Not just onthe outside, but from the inside
out.
This is super, super important.
Jarrod (20:08):
Which that brings us
beautifully to point number nine
.
We do not miss complicated mealprep.
Help me and I share this withmy patients too, because I want
them to know what they don'tknow.
They have this misconceptionthat it's going to be difficult
or take a long time.
This is the fastest way we haveever eaten.
Anita (20:30):
Jared's going into number
10.
Number 10 is time lost in thekitchen.
Nine is complicated meal prep,right?
So yeah, I think they gotogether because if things are
complicated, they're going totake a whole lot longer, but
really, I mean, I think it'ssomething you have to taste and
see, which is why I'm sopassionate about our cookbooks.
If you don't have at least oneof them yet, go to
(20:53):
powerandplantscom, forward, slash cookbook and grab one of
the cookbooks, because I lay outfor you some of the simplest,
quickest ways to get whole food,plant-based meals on your table
that you're actually going tolove.
I'm talking about throw thingsinto one pot or one instant pot
or one blender and have themdone in 5 to 15 minutes.
It really is that simple.
(21:13):
We have never, ever, cooked ina way or prepared meals in a way
that is this easy.
Jarrod (21:20):
Well, you intentionally
went through the recipes and
thought how can I removeunnecessary steps?
Absolutely so that then makesit not complicated, or the flip
side makes it simple.
Anita (21:33):
Right, and I love things
like how one of our members,
ashley, had posted inside of ourcommunity that she was now free
to go and play and swim andenjoy life with her kids while
her dinner cooked itself.
This is what I'm all aboutDinner cooking itself.
You throw some stuff together,it's in an Instapot, it's in
your oven instead of on yourstovetop, with you standing
(21:55):
there stirring it, and you areliving life.
That is what I'm all about.
One pot dishes, one pot meals, things that are simple and quick
to prepare this is real lifeand we're put here to live it.
We are not meant to be slavesto our kitchen, so we have to
get rid of complicated meal prep, which we do not miss.
We've completely gotten rid ofthat and our lost time in the
(22:18):
kitchen.
We have reclaimed that losttime and we're living real life
with it.
And then, number 11, we do notmiss that feeling of being
deprived.
You know, many times whenyou're trying to get healthy,
you think, oh, I have to feeldeprived, I'm going to have to
stop eating things I like and Iwon't be able to have the things
(22:38):
I like.
And that's just how it is.
No, that's not just how it is.
That is a falsehood that youhave believed, thank goodness,
right.
So we don't miss out on thegreat food that we love in the
name of health.
You do not have to miss out ongood tasting food that you enjoy
in the name of health.
We don't miss the thought ofthat because there was a time
(23:01):
when we thought, just like youprobably do, that to be healthy,
something had to taste gnarlynasty, the baked goods had to be
dry, the stuff had to beflavorless.
I can't enjoy sweets.
I don't like sweets.
Or I can't enjoy lasagna ortacos or pizza or brownie batter
, hummus or desserts, or this ismy problem, that's my problem.
No, you can still have greatfood.
(23:23):
You just want to do it in adifferent, new and improved.
I call it an upgrade version.
You need to make recipeupgrades.
The upgrades are going to getyou out of the kitchen faster.
They're going to give you themeals that you still love, but
you're just going to have themin an upgraded way.
That is, get that again isgoing to love your body back.
And the 12th thing that we don'tmiss out on, now that we are
(23:45):
whole food, plant based, is thelife experiences that we wanted
to have for so long because weare now living them.
Think about it.
I want you to picture all thethings that you would just love
to feel like doing that you'renow missing out on because, by
the end of the day, you justdon't feel like doing them.
(24:06):
Maybe it's after work and yourfriends get together and you
want to go out with them, butyou just don't feel like it.
Or there's another couple thatwants to go on a double date
with you and your husband andyou just don't feel like it
because you don't have energy.
Or it's the weekend and there'ssomething really fun going on
that you'd love to take yourfamily to, but you got to try to
somehow get your energy backover the weekend, and so you
(24:27):
just don't feel like it andyou're missing out on all these
incredible life momentstraveling to all the places you
want to go, feeling incrediblewhen you have grandchildren, so
that you can run and chase themaround and play with them all
