And Aubrey wrote,
Anita and Jared are so much fun
to listen to.
They are a wealth of informationon so many topics regarding your
health and plant-based eating.
This podcast is a hidden gem.
SPEAKER_00 (03:26):
Well, Aubrey, I can
promise you we are not trying to
hide.

So go and check that out as soonas this episode is over.
(04:12):
And today we want to share withyou something that we recently
received that felt like a greatbig birthday surprise delivered
right to our front doorstep.
It was a huge, beautiful box ofcolorful, freshly frozen whole
plant foods.
I mean, it really doesn't getany better than that in front of
you.
SPEAKER_01 (04:28):
No, beautiful foods,
delicious, and delivered
straight to your door.
SPEAKER_00 (04:32):
It just doesn't get
any better.
So here's the thing (04:33):
it was
shipped all the way across the
United States.
And as many of you know, we livein the panhandle of Florida, and
this was summer.
I mean, we're now getting intofall, but it was summertime
still.
It's still hot down here, shipped all the way from the
Pacific Northwest.
We didn't expedite it, didn'tship it fast or anything, but
the way they packaged thisproduce was amazing.
(04:53):
It arrived here, it still hadplenty of dry ice left, and it
was frozen, solid, andabsolutely delicious.
And the best part is inside werefoods that we don't normally see
in our local store.
That's one of the big benefitsof being able to order online.
Take advantage of this becausethere are things that you can
buy online that you maybe can'tget in your area, and it's just
(05:14):
going to have even a widervariety of nutrients.
And the most incredible thing ishow fun it is to try something
new so you don't get stuck in arut.
Inside our package, we had honeyberries and lingon berries and
sea buckthorn, pomegranatearrows, dried tart cherries,
dried bilberries, and aroniaberry powder.
(05:35):
Now, if you're thinking, well,Anita, what in the world?
I haven't even heard of many ofthese things, much less tried
them.
This is your perfect invitationto discover another brand new
favorite.
These are the kind of finds thatmake this lifestyle fun and
sustainable.
So in case you don't know, Jaredand I have this philosophy about
life.
And it all started with aspontaneous beach vacation to
(05:58):
this area where we live nowseveral years ago.
And I want Jared to tell youwhat that philosophy is.
SPEAKER_01 (06:04):
Create a life you do
not need a vacation from.
Now we didn't coin this phrase,it's not unique to us, but
several years ago, we took it toheart.
We discovered this area somewhatby accident and just absolutely
fell in love with it.
And I say accident because itwas really a last-minute
vacation that we weren'toriginally planning to take.
I had a conference where we weregoing to go to Orlando for about
(06:25):
a week and a half.
A few weeks prior, I calledAnita and I said, Hey, this
doctor that I'm working with isgoing to be gone the week before
the conference.
Would you maybe like to go tothe beach before we go to the
conference and cut that time inOrlando a little bit short?
So have a vacation before theconference.
That's all I had to say.
SPEAKER_00 (06:41):
Listen, he didn't
have to ask me twice.
If you say beach, you do nothave to ask me twice.
I was online typing, my fingerswere flying at the speed of
lightning.
And it was such a greatopportunity to discover
something new.
So we found a new area to try,and lo and behold, it's a place
that we absolutely love.
So while we were here, we'rethinking, why in the world are
(07:02):
we living in a way that we'veset up our life to where we're
living for that one or two weeksof vacation a year?
And the rest of the time we'rejust working and living for
those one or two weeks.
It doesn't make any sense.
Why not just live the dreamevery day?
And so that's why we decided tomove.
That's why we're here.
And the reason we wanted toshare that is because we want
you to start thinking about yourwhole food plant-based journey
(07:25):
or your journey to healing inthe same way.
So when it comes to whole foodplant-based eating to gain
optimal nutrition, why notcreate the life you don't need a
cheat day from?
So, in the same way, you don'twant to have a life that you
just need a vacation from,right?
You want to live the vacationevery day.
We want to set up our life likethat in eating healthy foods.
(07:49):
If we love it so much and wenever feel deprived, and we
don't have to restrict ourportions or count our calories
or eat food that tastes nasty inthe name of health.
You're setting yourself up forhuge winds that are going to
last.
And that is what we're allabout.
SPEAKER_01 (08:07):
So to use the
example again of the beach,
let's say you happen to be likeus and you love the sand, the
sun, the ocean waves, thebreeze.
Imagine every day waking up, youopen your door, and that is your
view day after day after day.
Imagine that feeling.
Now take that in to this way ofliving, whole food plant-based.
(08:30):
You don't need a cheat day.
You're not suffering through sixdays out of the week for that
one day, or that 50 weeks out ofthe year for those two weeks at
your most favorite place to beon the earth.
SPEAKER_00 (08:40):
Think about how
crazy it is that many diets even
build in a cheat day.
If you have a diet that you havea cheat day that needs to be
built in, what does that tellyou about the other six days
that you're living?
SPEAKER_01 (08:51):
I think it
automatically on the onset says
you're not gonna like it.
You're not gonna like it.
You're already breeding in thatidea.
It's really like planning forfailure, I think.
SPEAKER_00 (09:02):
It is, it's setting
you up for failure, and you
don't need any more of that.
You have to break those cyclesof the things you've done before
that did not work.
This is the new and better way.
Setting up a lifestyle that youlove so much, you don't ever
even think about needing a cheatday.
And this is how you do itfinding the new foods, finding
your new favorites, the thingsthat you love.
(09:24):
So, how much you work these newtypes of berries into your life?
Well, the frozen ones, the firstones we mentioned were all
frozen.
So the honey berries, which areawesome, they're like
blueberries, but elongated, notquite as sweet, but they have
that same type of flavor.
They are purple, so you're gonnaget the anthocyanins and some
really great benefits fromthese.
They're amazing.
The lingon berries, seabuckthorn, and pomegranate
(09:47):
arrows, all of these werefrozen.
So we're using them by simplyblending a tablespoon or two
into our smoothies, sprinklingthem on chia pudding bowls and
smoothie bowls, even eating themplain by the spoonful.
They are really that good.
Now, some of them have asurprise kick.
You know where I'm going withthis, don't you?
SPEAKER_01 (10:07):
I do.
I was imagining I'm not eatingsome of these by the spoonful,
at least not by themselves.
SPEAKER_00 (10:12):
You're talking about
the sea buckthorn.
SPEAKER_01 (10:14):
I am talking about
the sea buckthorn.
SPEAKER_00 (10:15):
Yep, sea buckthorn.
That was it.
Okay, so the sea buckthorn.
The funny thing is, on a recentcoaching call with our
accelerator members, I brokeopen the sea buckthorn bag for
the first time and I had triedthem and I knew how tart they
were.
They are like the tartest sweettart you can imagine without any
of the sweetness.
SPEAKER_01 (10:33):
They're they're
tart, not sweet tarts.
They're just tart.
SPEAKER_00 (10:37):
They are delicious.
And I gave Jared about three andhe pops them in his mouth and he
has a smile, and all of a suddenhe has the sharp pucker on his
face.
It was so great.
I don't know.
I mean, maybe it was kind ofmean, but I think they're
delicious.
They're just really tart.
So when you put them intosomething or onto something like
a smoothie bowl or just thesmoothie, blend it into a
(10:57):
smoothie or in your chiapudding, they taste amazing
because you add other thingsthat are sweet, like I'll add
banana or a little date or someraisins or different things like
that that make it a littlesweet.
And so it really does starttasting kind of like a sweet
tart.
SPEAKER_01 (11:10):
It more balances the
flavor.
Would you say that they're aboutlike cranberries as far as the
tartness level?
SPEAKER_00 (11:17):
No, I think these
are more tart.
Yeah.
The Lincolnberries are like minicranberries, they have the
cranberry flavor, but they'renot as bitter.
Those are amazing.
I really love those two.
SPEAKER_01 (11:27):
My favorites have
been the honey berries.
I've actually been using thosewith my morning oats.
So I'll still put blueberriesand then throw in about a
spoonful of the honey berries.
And the flavor, it complementsblueberries.
It's not exactly the same, alittle more tart than
blueberries, but that has becomemy new favorite mix.
SPEAKER_00 (11:43):
And the pomegranate
arrows are just the inside of
the pomegranate, the seed coatedwith that fruitiness that you
always get when you crack open afresh pomegranate.
So they've just been frozen.
And since we can't get themyear-round, because they're only
in season in the fall, it's niceto have these on hand to drop
into your smoothies or to eat inyour yogurt bowls and things
like that.
I love those.
So I could just eat those by thespoonful.
(12:05):
I'm a big pomegranate fan, andthey are wonderful for fighting
inflammation.
They're incredible seeds forthat.
So some of the benefits of theseberries, tart cherries, we got
those dried.
Those are amazing.
The wonderful thing about thiscompany is most every dried
fruit that I saw that theycarry, and I don't want to say
everyone because I didn't lookat the back of every label, but
(12:26):
I have a feeling that all oftheirs are this way.
They have no oil added and nosugar added.
And I want you to start lookingat the back of your dried
fruits.
You will not believe how manydried fruits have these
inflammatory-causing ingredientson them.
Why do my cranberries need oilon them?
Please explain that to me.
(12:46):
And why do they need sugar?
They do not.
They taste amazing.
They're tart and delicious.
SPEAKER_01 (12:51):
And there are other
better ways to sweeten them, you
know, quote unquote, if you needto, than just adding plain
sugar, like being able to mix itwith another favorite berry.
SPEAKER_00 (13:00):
So the dried tart
cherries have been a big hit.
They're almost gone.
I think we're down to about twoor three.
I have to reorder those soon.
And pomegranate supports hearthealth and circulation, as well
as it's just a greatanti-inflammatory, as are all
berries.
The bill berries are linked withsupporting vision.
Aronia berries are packed withantioxidants for cholesterol,
high blood pressure, andinflammation.
(13:20):
But what we want you to walkaway with again, as always, is
the fact that you do not need tomemorize every benefit of
everything that we're sharinghere.
You don't even have to try toremember these things that we
drive ourselves crazy with.
There's too much going on inreal life.
We're growing businesses, we'reout there taking care of our
family every day, spending timewith our friends, wanting to
travel the world.
(13:41):
We don't have time forremembering all of that.
So, what the big takeaways hereare if you just eat a wide
variety, you're going to get thenutrients that your body needs.
So a wide variety of color, awide variety of raw.
So you're going to get much moreraw food, living food with the
enzymes and everything intactwhen you start adding things
(14:01):
like these berries to your life.
These are vibrant living foodsthat make you feel amazing.
So always go for variety.
Variety in color, variety intypes.
It's one big way to succeed withwhole feed plant-based living.
And if you'd like to add varietyand flavor to your meals while
giving your body the nutrientsit craves, we want you to check
