When we call 911 in an emergency, we expect someone to answer our call, to send help immediately, and for emergency personnel to arrive ready and able to deliver assistance in a professional manner. First responders, police officers, firefighters, and military personnel willingly put their lives on the line for us every day, yet they are often taken for granted or abused. The danger and stress can take a toll on their mental and physical health, and they may experience depression, addiction, shattered relationships, or serious illness. The ripple effects hurt businesses, families, and communities.
