(00:00):
Hola Barney Weeble it is. Quitters never give up.
Let's go ahead and say hello to our special guest, Kristen.
Kristen is joining us because she is a super fan and she
shares a bunch of clips from theKevin and Bean show on the
Facebook group. So Lindsay reached out to her,
had her come on. You want to talk about your
experience with Kevin and Bean Kristen?

(00:21):
Yeah, so I can't remember exactly when I started
listening, but I just decided I'm going to go back to the
archive, start listening to the old episodes, and I'm just
really enjoying listening to it and, you know, making note of
all the funny stuff that have come across and just sharing it
on the Facebook group for everybody to relive the early

(00:42):
2000s. So yeah, it's been fun.
So you, you have been giving us summaries from 2007, right?
Correct. Yes.
And what are some of your favorite things that have just
occurred from your listening? Experience.
So I'm really enjoying, I think it's over with now, but I've
really been enjoying the recaps between the listeners, Craig and

(01:05):
Lola. So for those of you who don't
remember, in the early 2007 Craig had a girlfriend.
He was supposed to go on an all inclusive trip with her.
Something happened, they broke up.
So he called into the show and asked for the guy's help in
trying to find somebody. And the the kick was, it's a
swingers retreat. So they had guest car, you know,

(01:30):
listeners call in and they endedup picking the listener, Lola.
She sounded like she was really looking forward to it and sounds
like they went on their trip, they came back and they called
in and it sounds like they really hit it off.
So I'm hoping as I continue to listen to 2007 that maybe they
became a couple. So I don't know.

(01:51):
But I've been really enjoying that recap between listeners
Craig and Lola. Nice.
And are you listening like it sounds like you're listening to
the 2000s, but it sounds like you're also doing like a
particular time in 2007. Are you doing it like
chronologically or just kind of whatever?
Just chronologically, I've been trying to go in order and I'm
keeping track of it. And yeah, just as I come across

(02:13):
like a funny thing, I'll just make note of the episode and the
time. And I started doing that just
for myself. And then I kind of thought, you
know, I bet there's a lot of Kevin and Bean fans out there
who don't remember some of this.So I just started posting it in
the Facebook group, and a lot ofpeople have really enjoyed
getting the recap, so I just decided to just continue with

(02:35):
it. But yeah, listening in
chronological order. Nice.
Yeah, that's what I do. And I think Jen does, too.
And it's just fun to see things come up and they're like, oh,
wait, Oh yeah, I remember that. And then you see it happen again
and you kind of forgot about it because it's so long ago.
So that's why I did it chronologically.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it's a lot of fun.

(02:56):
I was trying to listen as fast as I could so I could listen to
like, so if you're on the current date today being June
1st, like try to listen to the episode that was June 1st of
that year. But I got a little behind.
But still it's been, it's been alot of joy and it's bringing
back a lot of memories. Nice.
Oh by the way, shout out to Stockdale who runs the archive.

(03:17):
Love that guy. Yes, yes, without him this would
not be possible. When you're listening to 2007,
how much of it can you like report on or repeat?
Well, I do have my notes here, so just some of the highlights,
I guess. Yeah.
So I really enjoyed, I guess on March 1st, 2007, they did a

(03:41):
tribute to Kevin. So they did like 5 or 6 minutes
worth of multiple moments with Kevin.
So that was hilarious. Laughed super, super hard.
Some other highlights from March, they did their breakfast
with corn. So that was really fun to listen
to. Let's see, what else?

(04:03):
Oh, I don't know if you guys remember this.
I, I had a hard time rememberingthis, but do you guys remember
when they were supposed to do drunk boxing with King of Mexico
and Ralph? I did not remember that.
And they kept leading up to it and I was really looking forward
to it. And then I forget which episode
when found out that it was cancelled.

(04:25):
But yeah, it was it was a lot offun listening to that.
Let's see also in March of 2007,Sam, the Armenian comedian
attempt to break the world record for the most haircuts in
24 hours. And that was a horrible
experience. Poor Lightning's wife had her
hair placed at Long Beach and Sam came in and it was just a

(04:48):
disaster. So that was fun listening to as
well. A disaster in the best way.
Yes, yes, definitely. Good old Sam, the Arinian
comedian. And then what's that also about
the time? So they have the drunk boxing,
maybe it's later than that. But when they were playing, hey,
their vagina and then somebody called and complained.

(05:11):
Are you to that point, Kristen? Not yet, but now that's ringing
some. Bells OK, yeah.
That was all the lawyers, right? The lawyers cancelled the drunk
boxing. The lawyers cancelled hey their
vagina. And then when you get to that
episode, it's hilarious, but youcan Kevin and Bean are all kind

(05:34):
of depressed 'cause I can't playHey There Vagina and all that
kind of stuff. And Jay Moore comes on and I
don't think we aired the clip I brought in.
Yeah, that one. He goes off.
Just blame it on the Portuguese,it's hilarious and but it wasn't
so PC for today but I just stillit was so long ago who cares was

(05:56):
very funny. Yeah, it was pretty much the
Donald Sterling tapes, but kind of funnier, I think.
Yeah, right. Do you ever have the situation
where you're listening to something from 2007 and like the
same person or the same event iskind of back in the news now?
Me and Christopher have that allthe time.
We're like, wait, what? He did it then and he did it

(06:19):
now. Yes, I've been finding that out
with especially listening to Bean and Ally's podcast, A cup
of tea in a chat. Like there will be something
that'll come up on an episode and then I listen to Bean and
Ally's episode and they kind of talk about it too.
So it's very funny and kind of eerie how everything kind of
correlates with one another. Yeah.

(06:41):
Kristen's also my LA Boo Boo pal.
She posted the Boo boo's on on Facebook group.
And say that. Yeah, the LA Boo Boo key chains.
My daughters love those things and those things are so
overpriced I have to break down and buy one.
How much are they? They're like 50 bucks for like a

(07:02):
little thing like about that bigat at least like if you could
find if you could find them for 50 bucks.
Is it a stuffed animal? What is it, Kristen?
How would you describe it? It's sort of like, to me, I
describe it as like a bad charm because that's what I've been
seeing people do with it. So it's essentially like, I
don't know, the size of like a softball, but it's like a little

(07:24):
monster on a key chain. And it's just super popular
right now. People will buy them, put them
on their purses, their backpacks.
But the problem is they just, they cannot keep up with the
demand right now. Like the demand is so high and
so people will buy them and thenturn around and resell them for
ridiculous prices. So but there's just a cute
little fun little monster. I enjoy it.

(07:48):
I have a couple and I'm glad first that you got some for your
daughters because they are supercute.
Yeah, my wallet is not glad. We it was a Libooboo event at at
this little like market in Rancho Cucamonga.
It's like Haven City Market. It's a little food court thing.
And they're like come down and see like characters walking
around. So I'm like, I'll go down there
and we'll see the characters take some pictures, try and

(08:10):
escape with like just a couple of little things.
There were no characters. There was nothing there but
things. So I had to buy, had to buy some
clothes, had to buy clothes for this thing.
It's like a. It's like a build-a-bear key
chain, basically. Clothes and.
Shoes. Oh my God, it's it.
It's because, you know, you takethem, you're like, we'll go

(08:32):
somewhere fun. We'll do something fun.
Let's do, you know, we'll go seethese characters and and all
this stuff and they're all excited.
And then there's nothing there. It was pretty much that Willy
Wonka thing, only they were selling all the Labooboo stuff.
And so I'll take, I'll take, I'll take that one.
Yeah. The good thing is she got the
color she wanted because the worst thing would be that you

(08:55):
break down, you buy one and you're like, I already have this
color and she just throws it away or something.
Does the lububu do anything? Is that electronic or is it just
a stuffed animal? No, it doesn't do anything.
No, I wish, I wish I'd had like AI or something.
I was. Thinking like a tamaguchi.
Those are really popular for a while.

(09:16):
They does something. Or a Tamagotchi.
That. I prefer the Tamaguchi.
I got those at the swap meet, they were cool.
Gross. I got that one.
I got my Ronix. But I don't even.
Know what that is? We're talking bootleg brands,

(09:36):
Lindsay. Lindsay's never had a bootleg
brand to. Have.
She's never gone to the swap meet.
I have never gone to the swap meet but I would.
Picked up some Mikey's some someair mics instead of Air Jordans.
Oh, I see. Yeah, there you go.

(09:57):
That's how it works. Sorry, Kristen, this is our
podcast, Tangent City. We are, yeah.
OK, so I'm going to give Kristenthe choice between the three
segments. Would you first?
Would you like to hear fun factsor Kevin in the afternoon or
moments with the quitters? Let's do fun facts.

(10:19):
Fun fact, when hosting parties, Dean Martin would often call the
police pretending to be an angryneighbor, forcing the police to
tell his guests to go home instead of him.
That was Josh from Hawthorne. Someone used to share that with
Bean because I feel like that's right up his alley.

(10:39):
I think that's more of a Ralph 1though has Dean Martin.
Yeah, but Bean is the one who like can't stand that his wife
has like these not ragers, but like that people are there past
10:00 PM. That's true.
But I imagine a Dean Martin party went like a couple of
weeks or something. I don't think it, I don't think
it was like past midnight. I think it was like it, you

(11:00):
know, it started on Saturday, was going on to the next
Tuesday. All right, next fun fact.
Fun fact, wrinkles that appear on your fingers and toes after
being submerged in the water foran extended period of time form
in the exact same pattern each time.
That was Josh from Hawthorne. Fun fact.

(11:24):
Good to know. All right.
How did they figure that out? Yeah.
I don't know, he could be lying about these fun facts.
You never know. And lying the tough for an hour
tonight to see if it happens. Well, you got to do it tonight
and then tomorrow and then the day after.
But you're a pool guy. You you should be able to like

(11:46):
just after work like figure it out.
I don't lay in the pool, I just clean it.
Last, fun fact, and this is kindof funny because it's titled
Beanie Babies. Fun fact, in 1998, one 10th of
everything sold on eBay was a Beanie Baby.
That was Josh from Hawthorne. Fun fact.

(12:08):
I didn't know that was going to happen, but it's so la Boo Boo
esque. I was just going to say.
Yeah, I remember those Beanie Babies were everywhere.
And in fact, I think my stepdaughter has some I just
handed over to her when she whenshe went over to her mom's
house. So I was like, take them.
Talk about things that were hot on the market and they sold for

(12:32):
like, I feel like thousands or five figures on eBay in some
cases. Yeah, she had the Princess die
one and my ex-wife was like, this is going to be this is
worth a lot of money. And we looked it up on eBay.
It's like $10 or something now. Right.
Of course. All right.
So now we're moving on to moments with which we have also

(12:55):
accrued many. Us No.
And now it's time for a moment with intern Lindsay.
And we do not so besides Chris AM S AM SRASMR.

(13:15):
Mark the time. I will mark the time.
That was a moment with intern Lindsay.
I am upset I finished my coffee.Damn, we would have reenacted
it. Oh, thank you.
All right, Next up with her. The one thing that it's provided

(13:40):
us is Queen Jay on drugs. And this is a moment where
they're bringing up what is it born this day and she just lose
it. Lose it.
She loses it over. OK, yeah, Lindsay's not here to
mark the time she loses it over this one simple fact.
Some. People in a.

(14:02):
Lifestyle. For a moment.
With Kurt. I didn't hear anything wrong
there. I thought that was perfect.
You you told Lindsay to mark thetime and she was editing.
So all right, back at you, you. Weren't there?

(14:23):
You weren't there, man. You don't know.
You shouldn't have said something like Lindsay's not
here to mark the time, and maybeI wouldn't have noticed it.
All right, Next up, a moment with Kurt.
Well, I think isn't it FAA regulations, they have two
people in the seats in the cockpit at all cockpit at all

(14:43):
times. Yes, Pete was up there.
It was a cockpit. Mark the time some people wait a
lot of fun for a moment with Kurt.
Not many people know this, but with the current FAA regulations

(15:06):
being updated, it's now a cockpit.
That's. What it is now?
So it is correct. What a fun fact.
All right, I'm going to try to speed run through some more of
these a moment with Kurt. Thank you again for listening to
our nonsense. Our, our, our, you know,

(15:28):
everything we got going on. This is all turning into a
moment and saying goodbye some people.
In a life. Spot for a moment with Curt.
I'll have you know I was 2W bottles in at that point.

(15:48):
I think that was that episode. So I am glad I was able to speak
that much. All right, two more.
And now it's time for a moment with intern Lindsay.
Oh, you know, before we start, Inoticed that Eddie was rocking a

(16:11):
turtleneck, a black turtleneck last week.
Kind of looked like a beat poet.Is that the right word?
A beat beat poet? So I wanted to ask Lisa May what
she thought of how of his look. That was a moment with intern
Lindsay. A beak poet Wonderful A.

(16:32):
Beak Poet with Cockpit. All right.
Last but not least with Curt. It didn't quite sound as the
same as what Lindsay had sang. I thought it was weird, but I
mean, it was good. It was a good personal, good

(16:53):
your personal. Some people wait a lot of time
for a moment. With Curt, I I think that was
where I disclosed that I was on my second bottle of whiskey.

(17:13):
So personally remember Mission that's that's just a perfect
right there. So this segues perfectly into
some moments, or they're not even moments, but they're a list
of really great Kevin Misspeaks.I don't even know how to say it,
but he he was really on one in these last two weeks.

(17:34):
So let's start with the intro. Poor It's time for.
Kevin in the afternoon, never give up.
Nice. So first they did a countdown, I
guess for Memorial Day weekend. And he has just the same
relationship with counting as heused to.

(17:56):
Cool. We're doing our countdown and
then we're up to No Doubt, whichis number something.
Hold on, 195. You're welcome.
We're doing the 21st Century Memorial Day countdown,
featuring the top 250 songs of the last 25 years, and the next
song is number 194. It's stained.
It's been a while. What if I just announced that?

(18:21):
Just announced. Yeah.
Maybe don't play it. Yeah, OK.
Fully supported. OK, so let's just go right into
190. 3. Shall we Coldplay a sky full of
stars on the world famous Carrick?
And you're welcome. I don't normally do countdowns
and it's not my strength. I don't keep things straight.

(18:42):
Well, I'm not good at that. You're doing great.
And here I got. Something AFI they're.
Putting out a new album later this year.
Oh. Nice.
Yeah, so there's that. All right, we're doing the 21st
Century Memorial Day countdown. They are #1 Don't help me 90. 2

(19:03):
Excellent. So have a number in the title of
the countdown as well as 200 songs or more than 200.
That's crazy. Kevin does hate songs that
count. He hates all the songs that have
counting in them. Exactly.
So why he would do this, I don'tknow, but let's keep going.

(19:25):
In a few minutes, we have a chance to choose your mission,
to choose your mission and get tickets to My Chemical Romance.
Congratulations to Ron Beckel. Just got tickets for Hurricane
Harbor, he tried to say. I really love that he's like,
he's like he's narrating his book.

(19:45):
He tried to say, 'cause he did that last time too, like he said
over the clip or something like that.
So love it. Next up.
Had a lovely surprise visit fromthe 2 French dudes that are
justice. That was so.
Cool. Yesterday and you can get look
look at the watch the interview at krock.com and on Instagram if

(20:07):
you if you want. All right, couple of, yeah,
couple of English language jumbles.
It was started in 1985 by a little fellow by the name of
Kurt Cobain. So there's the answer to the
question you didn't know. The answer to the question You
didn't know. I had to play it multiple

(20:28):
different times over and over. Even so, I could think about
whether it made sense or whetherit was a moment.
Was there a question or any typeof sort of question that before
that, like he's just playing thepart where he tried to answer
it? Exactly.
So he's. Giving up on that.
And then there's the question tothe answer.
You didn't know, so perfect. All right.

(20:50):
His life is in jeopardy. You know he's just answering,
asking the questions when he answers.
All right, phone numbers. So 818, sorry 800-520-1067 is
the phone number. I think once he's been there a
while, I mean he's only given that number for 30 something
years. All right, this is one of my

(21:13):
favorites. This Kiki Hernandez story is
super bizarre and I've never heard this explained before but
you got to know when athlete. Klein, Kelly Show.
Not at all what I meant to do. This sort of struck out of
nowhere and it is a hilarious story about having to play
baseball while going to the bathroom.

(21:35):
When Michael Bomber found out that he was terminally ill with
colon cancer, he. Spent a lot.
Of time speaking with his wife about what was happened.
Yep, that's not the right one. My bad.
Again, OK. Oh good on brand.
So on brand. I'm playing myself off with
Kevin's. I'm too sexy.

(21:59):
I'm too sexy, economy 264 coach too sexy.
It hurts. I feel you, girl.
Back to you, Steve. He did that because there was a
Instagram person that right, shejust wanted to fly first class.
That was the only thing she'd do.
She said she was too sexy to flyeconomy, I suppose.

(22:21):
She was too hot for it. I think that was it, right?
I don't remember the whole 2 weeks now have just they've just
been a crazy montage of life. Yeah, well said.
Well said. More good time.
Hey, that's just a phase you've gone.
Through a few yourself. You know.
Yeah, like those two weeks you spent narrating your own life.

(22:42):
I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table.
I looked with a grimace at the questionable meal Lois had
placed in front of me. Of course, I'd never tell her
how disgusted I was with her cooking, but somehow I think she
knew. Lois had always been full of
energy in life, but lately I hadbegun to grow more aware of her
aging. The bright, exuberant eyes that
I had fallen in love with were now beginning to grow dull and

(23:04):
listless with the long fatigue of a weary life.
I awoke several hours later in adaze.
Thanks for listening to QuittersNever give up.

(23:46):
Play us off, Judge Drew Dee. I'm Kevin Ryder.
I'm Kevin Ryder. I'm Kevin Ryder.
Are you the guy that directed the abyss?
Yeah, that's. Pretty interesting it was
working. There we go, how about that?
Hey, there we go. Yes, we are good Silversun

(24:08):
Pickups playing night #2 of Derek Thomas Christmas.
Good morning, everybody. 8 seconds.
I counted it 8 seconds. 8. Seconds.
You got your 8 seconds before I had to say the first words out
of your mouth. I need to learn to not waste so
much time. You had eight more.
Seconds you could have stayed athome you.
Had another cup of coffee and some Fruit Loops.

(24:30):
I cut that down to three or two.Now I'm not wasting so much
time. I'm all good.
That's never my plan. And every day I think tomorrow's
going to be different. Really.
You know, that's the definition of insanity according to Albert
Einstein. What about a quarterback
watching you? You'd never know.
I don't know what the words are,but I'm pretty sure those aren't
them. I was working a construction

(24:51):
job, and let's be honest, I wasn't built for that.
I was built for speaking the English language.
It's a waste to put a smart guy like Kevin at a job that just
just. Relies on his physical.
I got to use that mind. 06.7 K Rock is KROQ and it's 26 minutes
after 9:00. It's coming up next.
We are going to give away tickets to our breakfast with
Chuck Chuck Jack Johnson. You are listening to the Kevin

(25:17):
and Bean show, Cinco de la Tardeon the world famous K Rock.
That was the song you were listening for by Paramore for
Acoustic Christmas tickets. We have given away that pair of
tickets and now you're listeningfor a new song, which you can
find on the website at krock.com.
Or if you're not near a computer, I will just tell you
that it's Cannibal Corpse CameraSmash face.
No, no, no, no song that you're listening.
But you know, you read you read that wrong.

(25:39):
The leaving song by AFI is actually the song, but we're not
even supposed to say that. You're supposed to be correct to
come and check it out. But on the list of important
things that you've done, you peaked in 1960.
What was that over eight, 1969? Kevin, I don't like your choice
of. Word.
I'm Kevin Ryder. I'm Kevin Ryder, Kevin Rider,

(26:01):
sorry, two song on the soon. It was two song on the soon
exactly on the soon. Yes, you are listening to the
Kevin and Bean shows on the world shows.
You have more than one on the world famous K rock 106.7 KROQ
at 6:38. But why don't you ask Omar
behind you or whatever that guy is.
He's got 40 minutes non-stop K rock, including Weezer
Silverstone pickup K rock hanging up too.

(26:23):
Is that a hard one of the brand new songs from the news called
the United States of Eurasia? I'm saying you they're.
Usually standing here, there's atall blonde guy.
Right. Away there he.
Is wait a minute. Here.
He comes now. Well, that's that's cutting it
maybe too tight is what I'm saying.
That's what she said.
