rescuing and adopting horses and dogs and all of the
(02:50):
wonderful animals that are available here at the Classic today.
And my guest coming up is my new co host,
this shar Stefanya Lech is joining me. We're also going

and her famous grandmother.

You all know this.

They are all with us today and we are going

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Co host, Stefan.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
You and a wonderful grandma. Do you call your grandma
Grannie Kay? Granny Kay?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
The one and only Donna Karen.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Your granddaughter is truly unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
When I'm back, I fell in love and I said,
please post adoption Day with me.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So what is it about animals?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Not just because you're a p equestrian, but you love
to give back and you really want to take care
of them and rescue them.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
I mean, there's so much neglect in this world, and
I think people don't realize there's a lot of animals
that need attention and they need our help, and this
is so important just to be there for them and
provide Like the resources that we have are so privileged,
so I think it's really important to spread awareness.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
That's great, Actually, proud of your granddaughter. I know you're
a big rescuer, Donnie. You got one of your rescue
dogs right here at this show a couple of.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Years ago to two. Oh my goodness, any chance I was.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Going for a third.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I'm going for a third.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
But what I really need at this point is dogs
that can help me.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I can help them.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
You know.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
It's connection between me and the dog, and the dog
and me because I need more help, I think than
the dog does.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
But it's so important also to instill the message of
rescue and adoption.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
You know, you started young, when you were very young.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
You knew from your mom, yes and your grandma how
important it.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Was to adopt and take care of these animals.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Right.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I think we have the resources to help them out.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
And I mean, I love, love, love, dogs, horses, all
of the above.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
So I'm happy to give me. It's a wonderful thing
that she will marry your horse.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
So now, oh, I have Stefanya's mother here. I'm so excited, Gabby.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
I'm happy Jill got my daughter involved at a hanton
screaming at my mom's house.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
That's right. That a movie.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
And I said, you have to let you all, Yes,
you have to let your daughter be part of adoption
Day because it's so important, and without even a breath
to finally said, I want to do it because she
was raised in a family all of you cares so
deeply about animals and taking care of them and.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
Viewing with a few rescues that we got at the
horse shows. And Stephanie has been right since reside and.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Zelle and very about the one we got in can
also yes, yes, yes, I take care.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
Yes, And as a horseback rider, I'm so excited for
her to be involved in what you started.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Well, hey, announced us are dating year, but I'm hoping
you're going to be a regular. Yeah, because this is
the only horse show in the country of this caliber
that does an adoption day. And we created this fourteen
years though, so we're very proud. Florida don't do anything
like this, And it's really a shame because you know,
this is a very privileged area.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Horses can be in the millions of dollars, and.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
People don't realize you can't adopt a pretty amazing animal here.
Some of these horses can go on to have another
show career being a companion animal.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
With trail horses, they have partners. Who knows, you.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Know, how many do you have now staffin but three
horses any and like just you know, retired.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Three in retirement reaction when you saw the three in retirement.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
Going and they're living their best life in the field
and so many acres of land, and I think that's
like the best quality of life for them.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
It's so great.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
But again to instill the importance of taking in and
giving back and saving a life.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yes, hundred percent.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
I think animals have helped my daughter, you really like,
find her path and find her passion. And I think
there's so many more other people that we can inspired.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Of course, is here started a very young He started
a very young you started her.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
She was already like for and already wanted to adopt
the world.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Tell you all, dame, you're so beautiful and chaken you're.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
With Gaby, thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, it's my partner two told you or no, oh
my god, thank you, it's amazing. Stop seeing this one.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
Since she was in Bellie and she was always a
big heart and loved to adopt anyone in anything, she's.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Visit you as well, Costa Rica.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Yeah, that is I stopped riding, but I love it,
and I love horses, and I love visiting Stephani's horses.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
They're always so mobile and sweet and loving. And how
about your father? He is so supportive of what you do.
Is I watched the relationship. He was so sweet at that.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Again, he's just has his arms repped about you and
he looks at you in a way that every father.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
We.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Say this cheerleader. He's always watching the game a matter
how it goes right.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
It's lucky to have such amazing fairy.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
This event is sponsored every year by the wonderful Georgia Bloomberg.
As you all know, she's an incredible equestrian, but much
more important than that, it's her big heart for animals
in need and it was her idea along with Valerie,
Angelie and Equis back then, Aspca and I joined them
all to really understand the need to have an event
to give back and to bring in.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
These incredible horses up for adoption.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
And we have a whole area of.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Dogs from shelters all over the country. Georgina, first of all,
congratulations for yet another year of giving back.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Thank you. Thanks. It's always a great day. I always
look forward to it. We're able to, you know, get so.
Speaker 7 (08:42):
Many animals adopted, but most morally get the message out
about you know, how some horses are treated importance of
adoption and you know, hopefully raise some moarness for a
lot different causes.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
And you have talk about irons in the fire and
things going on. What about a year home? How many
rescue animals are on your farm and you at any given.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Right time, man too many to count, and we have
we have everything.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
We have dogs, horses, mules, We still adopted an alpaka.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
We've we've got a little bit of everything.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
So I'd have to sit down and do inventory, but
we have a whole whole array of different animals.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
You have always been like this your whole life.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
I've had the pleasure of knowing you for years and
I know at the time when I met you, you
weren't a mother. Now the mom of three just had
another baby scarlet.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Yep. Yeah, it's very very busy, thank you.
Speaker 7 (09:27):
Yeah, it's you know, the two hundred two is no joke,
but it's it's a lot of fun. It's you know,
total chaos and you know they're you know, all animal
lovers as well. And it makes me so proud when
you know, Jaspers, you know, sounds off on somebody for
you know, buying a dog instead of adopting, or you know,
Spashing goes over and kisses a dog or hug. It
just makes me so proud to see them develop their
own love of animals.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
It's amazing at this young age you've instilled the need
and importance to rescue and they are all growing up.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
With that in their soul.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, yeah, I hope so.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
And and what's on the horizon for you?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
You're not showing this year?
Speaker 7 (09:58):
I'm not, you know, I wasn't read it was you know,
Charlotte's just over two months and I just haven't had
the time to get myself fit and.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
To be sort of where I need to be mentally
and physically to be here. This is a big worst
show and it's a big.
Speaker 7 (10:10):
Stage and I just had to make the smart decision
and the safe decision.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
And you say that I was ready.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Well, you're amazing. At least you're here for Adoption Day.
And thank you so much for doing this every year
and having me be part of it.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Thank you for everything you do.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
For it honor to have you.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Oh great, and listen the message again, Adopt, adopt, Adopt.
I have to point out to all my listeners all
over the world and I was just made an equest Star.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
I'm so honored this long to do it.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
I yeah, I said, I was so happy to be
in this company Valerie and Valerie now we get to
finally interview you, which is so great because Valerie works
this show. I think you put six months a year
in on this, gearing up for the big day every
year she starts. Probably, would you say after the first
of the year January.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
To real Sure, absolutely, because it's it's actually quite a
commitment because these rescues are wonderful, but a lot of
them are on a very small budget and they put
what they have into the horse welfare. Return to Freedom
Wild Mustang Sanctuary in California is here, Rising Star Horse Rescue.
We have superhero rescue horses and so on and so on,
(11:16):
and it's a lot of coordination. Also, just when you
think you know who's coming for adoptions, they get adopted,
which is a really good thing, but it's a little
bit of an issue trying to replace them.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
And bring another adoptable who really needs a home.
Speaker 8 (11:29):
And every stall that's free is another horse that can
come in and have a life saved and get a
life and be transitioned into a wonderful horse for somebody
that wants to adopt and save life.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Well, I am so proud to be part of this
with you every year year fourteen.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
I can't believe it. And thank you for including me,
but thank you for the heartfelt hours and months that
you put into this event.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
So you inspired me.
Speaker 8 (11:56):
I got to know you because of the Hampton Classic.
If your love of animals legendary, I'd see you on
the Today Show all the time talking about animal welfare.
Of course I saw your book People Horses, What is it?
Speaker 4 (12:08):
People?
Speaker 3 (12:09):
We know horses they love good.
Speaker 8 (12:10):
I had seen that and I fell in love with
that book, and then I got to know Georgina, and
this idea was born to do a whole day at
this show for animal welfare. And who better than you
and Georgia Bloomberg, legendary animal welfare expert. Together we're a
team and we made this work and thanks for Georgina's sponsorship,
it's the best day ever.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
And we should mention that Valerie not only runs this
sevent and works with Equis. She also works with Long
Island Veterinary.
Speaker 8 (12:39):
Yes and University knew that it's a brand new the
Lewittt College of Veterinary Medicine on Long Island. And you know,
you know better than anyone as an animal person, what
I need there is for veterinarians in the country, and
we are training and putting out veterinarians.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
I went to Lu.
Speaker 8 (12:58):
I'm an a Lama Lu, and honestly I went there
because I could bring my.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Horse to school with me.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
I had a show horse and I took him to
the beautiful La. There was no vet school as of
five years ago. There is a vet school and it's
incredible and state of the art, and I am so
proud to have been asked to represent that as well.
So I'm here representing LU. Talk to me if you
have any interest in being part of the new vet school.
(13:25):
We have naming opportunities for lecture halls and simulator labs
that help you learn on animals where it's not invasive,
it's robotic instead on the high tech. And I'm still
going to drag you for a tour the Vet School.
You have to come and Thank you for mentioning that.
Because we're all here together, because and making a difference
(13:46):
in our own way, and together it's magic for for
animals that need a voice.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Well, that is the perfect note to end on on
another great adoption day at the fiftieth anniversary of the
Hampton Classic Horse Show. I am Joe Rapaport. You've been
listening to a live edition of Rapaport to the Rescue
right in Bridgehampton, New York, and we want to tell
everyone please open up your hearts and homes to an
animal in need. I can promise you will be the
(14:13):
best gift you not only give them, but especially yourself.
Thanks for listening, Have.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
A great day.
Speaker 8 (14:20):
