Real Talk with Deanna Kenisell : If the law didn't get ya, God would.

Deanna grew up in Texas in a lovely Christian family with a father that is an ordained minister and a retired police officer. She was a good girl and followed all the rules because she was reminded daily of fear. "If the law didn't get ya, God would," she says with her contagious laughter. She went to college in Tennessee, graduated, and went to work in the music industry. She did well for herself professionally but never found her person to marry. She said she didn't get the memo to "go to college to find a man to marry"; instead, she got a diploma and a kick-ass career. That did not stop her from fantasizing about the Hallmark family home and farm with a loving husband and a carload of kids.

At 40 years old, there was no serious man in her life, and she decided to have kids alone. Apparently, there is a title I had never heard of, and she also resents it. "Single mom by choice"- it wasn't her choice, but it was a now or never situation, and she went through 13 fertility treatments and 4 miscarriages before deciding to go the adoption route- which was also not easy as a single woman.

She started as a foster parent and had to say goodbye to a few kids and jump through circus hoops before she was able to adopt her then-infant son. Dating became irrelevant because she was busy with her career and had a baby to care for with enough love to fill her heart. Of course, she felt lonely over the years but didn't give it much thought until her 5-year-old said he wanted a dad. “Oh boy, I better start dating again”! She thought, "As a strong independent woman, how do I let someone into my life, to love and support him in a traditional way- but not lose me in the process." -words of a mature woman! She is working on a manual to date her and would like the man to have one. 🤣🤣

Oh, and by the way, she was kidnapped as a young girl- good thing her dad was the police, and she is a strong woman that didn't allow it to destroy her life.
