The Dwarfers have salvaged a cryogenic pod with the sole survivor of an abandoned penal colony. Inside is either death or a date. To improve their chances of not being murdered they go to the penal colony to find out who's inside the pod only for Rimmer to be sentenced to a lengthy period of imprisonment for second degree murder of the crew of Red Dwarf.

The Shuffle Brothers needed to clarify their opinions of the show up to series three after the boffins at Red Dwarf Shuffle HQ messed up the scoring system. They have chosen to do this by signing up to an intergalactic game show hosted by Bing Baxter called Settle the Score. 
Quite how and why this would work is uncertain but they did it anyway for a laugh.

The series 3 finale sees Kryten's  expiration date come up, He is expected to be dismantled and replaced by a new model in 24 Hours. As most people would, the Dwarfers decide this is very unfair and wrong and the only thing to do is give Kryten the best goodbye party ever!

After the crew narrowly avoid blowing themselves up, Rimmer gets the idea to rent Listers living body for a few weeks under the condition that He takes better care of it than Lister does.
