(01:14):
these stories or has beendealing with these circumstances
.

students.

The seriousness of thisincident was emphasized, with
which the allegations are beingtreated, according to one of the
school administrators.
Now this individual remains onan administrative leave and, due
to the ongoing nature of thisinvestigation and legal
proceedings, further details arecurrently unavailable.

(03:05):
The school district isencouraging students and
families to report any safetyconcerns and to utilize the Say
Something anonymous reportingsystem.
The tragedy that develops whenteachers decide to or
administrators, persons who workin schools, school personnel
they decide to take matters intotheir own hands and take

(03:25):
advantage of students.
It is gruesome, because there'sa measure of trust that
students will put into theseindividuals, and for these
persons to take advantage ofthese students, that's something
that's very difficult to beable to comprehend.
Now, in our next story, we'redealing with the circumstances
surrounding immigration andpersons who are being adversely

(03:46):
affected.
A Massachusetts high schoolerdetained by ICE on way to
volleyball practice granted bailbond by judge.
Marcello Gomez da Silva, the18-year-old Massachusetts high
school student who was detainedby Immigration and Customs
Enforcement on his way tovolleyball practice last week,

(04:07):
was granted bond on Thursdayafter a judge found he is not a
danger to the community.
Gomez da Silva, a Braziliannational who is a junior at
Milford Public High School, wasarrested on Saturday.
According to a court filingfrom his attorney, gomez da
Silva, who was driving hisfather's car, was pulled over

(04:28):
and detained even though thefather was the target of the
investigation.
During Gomez da Silva'simmigration hearing, a judge
said that, while she found thegovernment had not met their
burden by demonstrating, gomezis a danger to the community,
she said the 18-year-old mayhave a slight flight risk.

(04:49):
For that reason, the court willgrant a $2,000 bond.
The immigration judge saidRobin Neese, the attorney
representing Gomez De Silva, said her client was being held
in awful conditions at a holdingfacility in Plymouth,
massachusetts.
She says, and I quote, he'sbeen sleeping on a cement floor.

(05:10):
He was sick.
He had no bed Before the judgegranted bond, the attorney said
Gomez da Silva has no criminalrecord and is as clean as a
whistle.
The father, joão Paulo GomesPereira, was sought because he
has a habit of reckless drivingat speeds over 100 miles per

(05:30):
hour.
According to the Department ofHomeland Security, this has been
a really big problem.
Many persons of minority havebeen concerned about these
circumstances and they havewondered as to what is going to
develop surrounding theseinstances.
We do recognize that there aregoing to be persons who are

(05:54):
falsely accused and falselythrown into circumstances beyond
their control.
We're hoping that they're ableto rectify the matter
surrounding this young man andfor those of you who are friends
of his and his peers, pleaseaccept our support and know that
we are here for you guys, bothemotionally and mentally, during
this difficult time.
Now in our following story weare dealing with teachers again

(06:17):
abusing their power to prey onyoung persons.
Queen's teacher charged withrape lured teen from online
application.
A Queens middle school teacherbusted for allegedly sexually
assaulting a teen used an onlineapplication to lure his
13-year-old victim to meet up.
Prosecutors said WednesdayDavid Ospino, 36, allegedly

(06:41):
directed the youngster to anaddress by using an app
exchanging sexual text messages.
Authorities charge On January11, ospino engaged in sexual
intercourse with the teen at theaddress.
Prosecutors at his QueensCriminal Court arraignment said
who teaches at IntermediateSchool 204 Oliver Wendell Holmes

(07:05):
in Long Island City facescharges of rape and endangering
the welfare of a child.
If convicted of rape, he couldspend seven years behind bars.
The victim was not a student atthe school where Ospino taught.
Sources said Judge GlendaHernandez issued an order of

(07:25):
protection for the victim andOspino was forced to relinquish
his passport.
Bail was set for him at $50,000cash or $150,000 in bond.
He is a Queens resident and heserved eight years as a
full-time teacher in the NYCDepartment of Education.
His family was inside thecourtroom at his Wednesday
afternoon arraignment.

(07:48):
The interesting thing about thisstory you have a teacher keeps
their nose clean.
Been in the district for manyyears and now, all of a sudden,
this person wants to takematters into their own hand and
deal with a 13-year-old girlinappropriately.
That's devastating Becausesometimes when we meet a person
for the first time, we have oursenses up.
We tend to think that, hey, this person's probably.

(08:11):
You know, they're okay, youknow, I've known him for a
couple of years, he's okay, never gave me any cause for
concern.
But now, some several yearslater, this teacher is
demonstrating and showing thathe has this unhealthy attachment
to underage girls.
Very difficult story.
We are hoping that the victimmakes a well recovery as we move

(08:32):
forward through this very, veryfast approaching end of a
school year.
Now, following story, we aretransitioning from a male
teacher abuse to a femaleteacher.
A Manatee County middle schoolteacher charged with sexting
student.
A Manatee County middle schoolteacher has been arrested and
charged with sending lewdmessages to a 14-year-old

(08:54):
student.
The Manatee County Sheriff'sOffice said the teacher,
28-year-old Oliver Fell, turnedherself in to the Manatee County
Jail Monday night where she wascharged with lewd contact with
a student by an authority figurea second-degree felony and
transmission of harmful materialto a minor a third-degree

(09:16):
felony.
The Sheriff's Office said in anews release, a third-degree
felony.
The sheriff's office said in anews release.
Investigators say on March 3rd,a school resource deputy
learned from a male student atthe middle school that Fell, an
exceptional student educationteacher, had been communicating
with him through Snapchat sinceDecember 2024.
According to the FloridaDepartment of Education, an ESE

(09:39):
teacher works with children withdisabilities who need specially
designed instruction andrelated services.
The 14-year-old student alsoreported that the teacher sent
him an explicit photo onSnapchat on January 2,.
The news release said theschool administration was
informed of the allegations anddetectives from the MCSO Crimes

(10:02):
Against Children Unit started aninvestigation.
The news release addedDetectives confirmed that the
student had communicated withthe teacher multiple times on
social media.
After getting a search warrantand receiving permission to
access data from phones andsocial media accounts,
detectives discovered evidenceindicating that the
communications led to lewdconduct involving the victim.

(10:25):
The Sheriff's Office says theinvestigation confirmed that the
explicit photo of a nude breastbelonged to Fell.
On May 12th, detectivesreceived additional evidence
from Snapchat and on Mondayarrest warrants were issued.
The investigation is currentlyongoing regarding this matter.
But man, oh man, I can't evenbegin to comprehend what you

(10:47):
students have to deal with everysingle day in school.
If you're not dealing withbullies, if you're not dealing
with teachers who want to justput the hammer on your life,
you're dealing with teachers whoare predators.
Well, what can you guys do inorder to protect yourselves?
One of the things that you cando is continue to be diligent.
Look for persons that you canconfide in about these

(11:07):
inappropriate teachers and theirconduct.
Don't ever feel as thoughyou're responsible because you
may not have said no to thatteacher or you may have not been
able to think quickly on yourfeet.
Consult an administrator, aprincipal, a parent, any
relative that can be able tohelp you to ward off these
predators.
In this following story we areagain dealing with another

(11:28):
teacher, this time a physicaleducation teacher, in that realm
of perversion.
Baltimore County School PEteacher accused of sex crimes
against middle school students.
A Baltimore County middleschool physician excuse me,
physical education teacher isaccused of sexually assaulting
students on school property.

(11:49):
Police said 61-year-old RogerMyers was arrested on multiple
sex offenses and assault chargeswhich allegedly happened at the
school.
Baltimore County Public Schoolssaid Myers is a teacher at Deep
Creek Middle School in Essex.
He has been on administrativeleave since January when the
school initially learned aboutthe investigation.

(12:11):
According to the school'sprincipal, myers has been
employed with the BaltimoreCounty Public Schools system
since 1996 and has been employedat Deep Creek Middle School
since July of 2024.
School leaders said counselingwill be available to students.
Myers was released onrecognizance Monday.

(12:32):
According to court officials, police are asking, if you
believe you are a victim or haveinformation related to the case
, to call the following numberat 410-887-7720.
Again, that same advice appliesif you know someone who has
been a victim of this teacher oryou know someone who is dealing

(12:55):
with such advances, do notremain silent, guys.
Speak up, be heard and allowyourselves to be able to get
that support and help that youneed to cope with these gruesome
circumstances.
In this next story, a teachermade an honest mistake.
In the comment box below, letme know if you believe that this

(13:19):
was something that could havebeen avoided or if you think
that the teacher is just kind ofignorant, to say of the least.
Middle school teacher allegedlygives student alcoholic drinks
for end of year treat.
A middle school teacherallegedly unknowingly handed out
alcoholic beverages to studentsfor an end-of-year treat.

(13:41):
Woal reported that the specialeducation teacher had brought
seven cans of hard mountain dewBaja Blast and gave them to five
students across three differentclasses as part of a last-day
school celebration.
The teacher apparently didn'tknow the drink had a 5% alcohol

(14:04):
content.
One of the students who wasallegedly given the alcoholic
drink was a 7th grader withasthma, according to KEN5.
The student reportedly becamedrowsy and confused after having
the drink and their father, aaron Corso, said he wasn't told
about the situation until hoursafter the incident happened.

(14:25):
Corso said the combination ofthe drink and cough medicine his
son had taken earlier in theday had contributed to his kid's
symptoms.
Corso also said he tried tofile a police report but was
told the incident was beinghandled internally by the school
district.
The district stated that areport was filed with Child

(14:45):
Protective Services but did notconfirm to KEN5 whether the
teacher would face disciplinaryaction.
I mean, that sounds crazy enough, right?
The teacher did not know thatthere was alcoholic beverage
inside of this drink.
But sometimes I realized thatmistakes aren't good enough,
sometimes that one mistake cancost you everything.

(15:08):
And I know that it's prettydifficult because for these
teachers you're trying to do theright thing, you're trying to
do something nice for the kids, your heart is in the right place
.
But this day and age, itdoesn't matter if your heart's
in the right place, it justmatters what the optics are, and
if the optics are bad, thattends to be a problem all of its

(15:30):
own.
In the following story, notehow one elementary school
individual decided to handlefinancial struggle.
Buck's woman stole $20,000 fromelementary school parent-teacher
group.
Law enforcement officials inBuck's County have arrested a

(15:52):
woman who served as treasurerfor a parent-teacher
organization at an elementaryschool on Sellersville after she
allegedly stole thousands fromthe group.
According to police, on May 29,2025, jacqueline Bucco, 46, of
Telford, was arraigned oncharges that claim that she

(16:13):
stole over $20,000 over thecourse of two years that she
served as the treasurer for aparent-teacher association for
JM Grass Elementary School.
Officials said the charges oftheft, forgery and related
offenses came after a lengthyinvestigation into Bucco's time
as treasurer of the elementaryschool's parent-teacher

(16:33):
organization, after members ofthat group, in June of 2023,
allegedly discovered fundsmissing.
Police allege that, beginningwith Bucco, she took over the
Treasury's position in Septemberof 2021.
Over the course of two years, police believe she embezzled
more than $20,000 in funds thatwere collected through a variety

(16:55):
of fundraisers held by thegroup.
Bucco, officials claim, wrotechecks to herself and forged the
names of board members of theparent-teacher organization onto
checks.
This spending, officials said, was never approved by the board
of the parent-teacherorganization.
Officials said Bucco has beenreleased on $100,000 unsecured

(17:16):
bail.
Her next court appearance isscheduled for July 1st 2025.
So I can appreciate as to howshe did this.
I'm not saying that I'mupholding the theft involved in
connection with what this womandid, stealing from the PTO fund
in her school, but she did soover time.
She did this gradually, somaybe she started off with
taking $20, $100 here, there andthen over the years, all of

(17:39):
that money added up into $20,000.
This woman stole $20,000 overthe course of two years.
Years ago, when I was in highschool, a lot of my friends had
this little tendency.
They wanted to rob thesupermarkets and Walmart or
whatever, and their method wasto go in there and steal a candy
bar, steal a candy bar andwhatever else they wanted to get

(18:03):
their hands on.
And so I'm wondering, with allthe cameras that they have in
shop rights and mall marts etcetera, why hadn't they been
caught yet?
Yeah, I talked to a friend ofmine who was a manager at a
Walmart and this is what he toldme, when it comes to stealing
things, it has to make sensewhen you bring it to the light
of the law.
So there's a such thing assmall claims.

(18:24):
Right, you go to small claimscourt, you're suing somebody.
Maybe they stole a couplehundred bucks from you.
You might be able to get thatback.
That may hold up in court.
But if someone goes into aWalmart and steals a candy bar
or something at the value of 50bucks, you're not going to take
somebody to court for somethinglike that.
So what they'll do is they'llallow you to think that you're

(18:44):
robbing the place and gettingaway with it, but in reality
they're recording you steal fromthe place and then they're
allowing this to accumulate, kind of like a tab, and once
that tab has met the degree ofwhich they can penalize you with
the fullest extent of the law.
That's what they do.
So I don't think this woman, inconnection with handling the
money for the PTO at this school, recognize that when you get to

(19:07):
a certain threshold of stealing, it will come down and crash on
your head.
Well, we're hoping that they'reable to recover the money.
That's really important she'sliterally stealing from students
and they're able to use thatmoney worth their while.
Now in our following story weare visiting an elementary
school that is going to be wellno more existent after this

(19:30):
school year.
A Laurel prepares for tearingdown of 74-year-old elementary
school.
The Laurel community is bracingfor the tearing down of
74-year-old Fred GraffElementary School building at
the conclusion of the schoolyear.
The last day for the Fred Graffwill be June, with the

(19:51):
demolition beginning thefollowing week.
The building is being torn downdue to structural problems and
old age.
A new three-story facility isbeing built near the middle
school as a replacement.
The building is old.
It's falling apart, said FredGraff interim principal and
L'Oreal curriculum director, charler Wetsch, on Tuesday.

(20:14):
The memories are always stillgoing to be here, but the
building is definitely on itslast leg.
Those memories are why many aresat in.
By the end of graph elementaryon monday, residents were given
the chance to walk through thehalls one final time and many
signed a wall in the gymnasiumwith their name and a note.
It is emotional a little bitbecause people's lives were tied

(20:37):
to this place.
The principal added Aparaeducator, larray McGee said
she'll always have fond memoriesof the school building.
In total she spent 23 yearshelping at Fred Graff, starting
in 1986 with a small break toraise her family.
You know, it's nice that peoplecan be able to rally together

(20:59):
and be able to express thisheartfelt emotion.
I think that today people runfrom their emotions.
They don't want to bevulnerable, they don't want to
care about something as much, and so to see that this
community is torn up about thisschool facing its end, I thought
that was pretty heartwarming.
I thought that was prettyheartwarming and I thought it
was worth talking about on thisshow.
When we go through things ashumans, sometimes the tendency

(21:22):
is to kind of close up or kindof hide in our shells, as it
were.
But you don't want to keepthose feelings to yourself.
You want to do the very bestthat you can to find somebody
that can support you in thosefeelings and then try to grow
from those feelings.
Don't allow the feelings to bea stumbling block, but allow

(21:44):
these emotions and moments inyour life to be a stepping stone
so that you can be able to moveforward to the best of your
ability.
In our next story we are dealingwith a very gruesome
circumstance surrounding a pianoteacher A piano ISD teacher
attacked in front of school, andthe suspect has been arrested.

(22:05):
A Murphy, texas man has beenarrested and charged after being
accused of attacking a teacherin front of Bogus Elementary
School on May 22,.
According to the Murphy PoliceDepartment, bogus Elementary is
part of Plano ISD.
According to the police report,31-year-old Daniel C Akungboa

(22:26):
approached the teacher on thesidewalk outside the school
asking her questions aboutworking at the school.
When she turned to walk awayfrom him, she told police he ran
up behind her, grabbed her frombehind in a full body hold with
his arms and legs wrappedaround her.
She told police she fought himoff trying to get free and ended

(22:48):
up on the ground still fightinghim off.
The victim told police at somepoint she bit the suspect on the
hand to get away from him.
She said when her school radiowent off he let her go and ran
from the area.
She told police the man tookher school radio that belonged
to Plano ISD and her cell phone.
The victim had injuries to herhand, wrist and mouth.

(23:12):
She also reported full bodypain and was taken to the
hospital for further evaluation.
A description of the suspect wassent to police officers.
The attack was captured onsecurity surveillance.
The phone was tracked by herhusband through Life 360 to the
area of Engle Ridge andShirehurst, then to Ambrose and

(23:33):
Shirehurst.
The suspect was found in thatarea and was in possession of
the cell phone and the schoolradio.
When police found him, theyfound the victim's pink cell
phone with a photo of the victimand her grandchild on the
screen.
He admitted it was not his.
The school radio was found inhis pocket.
Okonkwo was booked on chargesof robbery and theft of property

(23:57):
.
He was transferred to theCollin County Jail and since
then has posted a combined$21,000 bond on May 23rd and was
released from jail.
There is a lot surrounding thiscircumstance, but there are some
things that we don't know.
As our source makes mention, the circumstances surrounding

(24:18):
the attack are not known, butthe Murphy police have not said
if Akungboa had a motive or ifthe victim was specifically
targeted.
We live in a wicked world, wouldn't you agree?
And there are real lifelunatics out there, and one of
the things that I find is thatwe can do two things.

(24:40):
We can flip the switch and turnit off and ignore it to the
best of our ability, or we canacknowledge that there are
lunatics out there, persons whowant to do us harm and then do
something about it.
Be proactive, protect yourself.
Do not allow yourself to behindered or taken advantage of
by these crazy and derangedfolks.
Our next story manhuntcontinues for father Police say

(25:03):
killed three young daughtersnear Washington campground.
This following story will stirsome devastating emotions.
The manhunt continued onWednesday for 32-year-old Travis
Decker, who is accused ofkilling his three young
daughters near a campground inWashington, with officials
saying he could be anywherewithin the nation.

(25:25):
Peyton Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, were
killed after they left home fora planned visitation with Decker
at approximately 5 pm on Friday.
According to the policedepartment, At approximately 3
pm on Monday, officials locatedDecker's vehicle unoccupied near

(25:49):
the Rock Island campground nearthe county.
The bodies of three girls werealso found there as well.
Decker, however, was notlocated.
Police said in a press releaseearlier this week.
There were plastic bags overthe heads of each girl and their
wrists were zip tied.

(26:09):
According to court documentsobtained by abc news.
On wednesday around decker'svehicle, deputies located zip
ties and plastic bags strewnthroughout the area, and the
tailgate of the truck had whatappeared to be two handprints of
blood.
According to court documents.
At a news conference Wednesdayevening, the county sheriff,

(26:30):
mike Morrison, said authoritiescontinued the search throughout
the day, including following upon social media tips from across
the country.
Now sources have mentioned thatDecker was deployed to
Afghanistan in 2014 while onactive duty in the army, and
transferred to the WashingtonNational Guard in 2021 from the

(26:51):
active component as a result ofhis military training.
They're starting to state thatthis guy is definitely one that
you don't want to mess with andis one that is going to be
difficult to find.
A $20,000 reward has beenoffered for any information
leading to Decker's arrest, andit is tragic.
These are some beautiful girlshere in connection with this

(27:13):
story, and it's sad.
You know what I mean.
It's really sad when a parenttakes the life of his kids.
You see just the way that thiswas done.
The girls go over for a plannedvisitation and then their
father murders three girls, three of his daughters and, just
again for emphasis, ages nine, eight and five.

(27:36):
These beautiful young girlswere murdered by their own
father.
Just, it's just tragic.
Man, this is the stuff thatjust it makes you sick.
Now his wife has stated that hewas dealing with some bipolarity
issues and that he refused totake his medication.
Should there be any prescribedmedication at this point, but we
do want to express condolencesto the grandfather in this story

(27:59):
and indeed the mom of thesethree daughters.
I mean, when my brother waskilled a couple of years ago,
you know that took my mom bysurprise.
It just it destroyed a piece ofher and I don't think that
piece will ever recover or heal.
But I can't imagine a motherdealing with the loss of three
daughters, all of her kids gone.

(28:19):
You know my brother was killeda few years ago.
My mom has me left and my oldersister, but this mother has
literally all of her childrenhave been ripped away from her
gruesomely.
You know, the things that wehave to come to become familiar
with today and things that wesee is tragic.
It's one of those tragic thingsthat you just wonder what goes

(28:40):
through these people's minds atthe end of the day.
Well, guys, we've reached ourfinal story in connection with
this episode.
And listen, I'm all for seniorpranking.
I've told you guys that manytimes on the show, but I'm not
going to just outright supportvandalism and just outright
ignorance here.
Like this is just.

(29:01):
And when you get the photos inconnection with this short and
you see as to how they did thishigh school.
I think you'll agree.
Significant vandalism at Malibuhigh school blamed on senior
class.
A group of 40 or more currentseniors and former students is
believed to be responsible foran hours-long act of vandalism
causing tens of thousands ofdollars worth of damage at

(29:24):
Malibu High School.
Video cameras showed thevandalism, which included the
super-gluing of locks.
The rendering 20 classroomsinaccessible occurred between
the hours of 11 pm and 2 am.
Additionally, a golf cart waspushed down the stairs and
overturned, exterior clocks werepulled down and damaged, spray

(29:47):
paint was used with explicitmessages and inappropriate
images, and tables and seatingwere broken.
To name some of the damages, one of the school administrators
made mention Images and videoof the damage posted on the
Santa Monica mirror showedgraffiti on classrooms, as well
as toilet paper, eggs and trashstrewn down the campus hallways.

(30:10):
We expect our students to actas responsible members of our
community, including in the weekleading up to graduation, the
school spokesperson stated, while the graduation ceremony is
still expected to take placenext week.
The superintendent said that allindividuals involved will be

(30:30):
prosecuted to the full extent ofthe law and the education code,
including, but not limited to,possible restitution for damages
and loss of senior privileges.
Anyone with informationregarding the incident was urged
to report it to the Malibu LostHills Sheriff's Station at
818-878-1808.

(30:52):
Anonymous information can beshared through the community tip
line.
The superintendent said thatsenior vandalism has occurred
more than 15 years at mhs, butinformed students that it is a
crime with consequences and nota rite of passage.
So for me, you know, you lookat these photos and it's just

(31:15):
like we're beyond a senior prankman.
These kids wanted to destroythe school because they have
nothing better else to do withtheir lives.
And don't get me started on thetype of financial upbringing
and background that these peoplehave.
If you're sneaking into yourschool and your goal is to
damage property come what may, then you at this point have

(31:36):
labeled you become a crook likeyou are literally a crook.
I hope that they're able torepair the damages and get it
the school ready for septemberof the following year.
But yeah, I do agree with thesuperintendent that these things
cannot, they can't go andpunish because people will think
that these things areacceptable in there.

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
