practitioner.
We caution you though thispodcast may also dramatically
improve your life.
And we are so happy that you'rehere.
(00:55):
on this week's podcast and inthis month's Reiki share, we're
actually gonna be talking aboutsome of the things that the
horses have taught me in myReiki journey.
Before we begin, I just want tolet anybody listening know that
in early March, I'm going to bein Australia.
So if you're in Australia, I'llbe teaching level one and two
(01:17):
and Master Reiki there.
Licensed classes in person.
and online.
So please feel free to join usin the Australian time zone.
Some folks may wish to join usfrom Asia.
You're welcome to, I'd love tohave you.
There, I'll also be teachinganimal Reiki level one and two
when I'm there.
(01:38):
And I am considering teachinganimal communication.
If you're really interested inanimal communication, if you
wanna reach out and let me know,I will either offer it when I'm
there.
Or I will offer a class in theAustralian time zone.
Once I get home in April, I havea full lineup of Level one and
two Masters Animal one and twoMasters, Karina Animal
(02:03):
Communication.
And in May I'm gonna be in GlensFalls, New York at the Reiki
Retreat teaching Animal Reiki, level one and two in person at
the Northeast Reiki Retreat.
I'll put a link in the podcastif you're interested in
attending the link in, or theretreat in New York.
It's going to be fantastic.
William Rand, Carolyn Musel andTracy Sullivan are other
(02:26):
licensed teachers from the I C RT that are going to also be
teaching courses there.
And I'd love to see you in NewYork if that's close to where
you live or if that's possiblefor you.
Before we begin, and before weget too far, I'm just gonna
invite everybody to bring yourhands in Gassho with your thumbs
at your heart, and just go aheadand allow your Reiki energy to
(02:52):
become activated within yourbody.
Just thinking about each of yoursymbols, inviting them to be
present with you.
When we connect with otherspecies or even with others
(03:19):
within our own species, itexpands our perception and with
that expanded perception.
We get access to otherperspectives and new
(03:40):
understandings about divinity,and there's a wealth of
knowledge present for us, andsometimes our animals, or I've
noticed that our animals areonly too happy to share their
(04:00):
perceptions and perspectiveswith us, and that helps us to
grow.
So we just invite the Reikienergy to be present as we share
these stories today, and to bepresent with us afterward as we
move into a meditation to allowsome of these lessons and
(04:23):
learnings integrate within ourbodies, our souls, our minds,
and our spirits within everypart of our being.
We are so blessed to be of alineage of light bringers who
are creating wellness on theearth today.
Part of the animal kingdom hereon Earth, Aho and.
(04:52):
So guys some of and some of youdon't know, but horses brought
me to Reiki and I'm not alone.
I know I hear students andclients all the time whose
animals deliver them to Reiki.
My mentor, Colleen Benelli, herhorse showed her placing hands
(05:13):
on him and she knew that he wasasking her to do Reiki, but at
that time she struggled with it.
She didn't believe in it.
I am not sure how I felt aboutReiki originally in 2009 when I
was first exposed to it.
But I had health issues that thedoctors couldn't help me with.
Just severe allergies and rashesand runny eyes and sinus issues,
(05:36):
and just didn't feel very wellat all.
And was one of my horsebackriding students who offered me
my first Reiki session in orderto help with that.
And I'm so grateful to her.
I'm so grateful to her.
I named a horse after her.
Little Lizzy, Liz, and ThatReiki session changed my life.
(05:57):
That first session, as it sooften does, and I invite those
of you listening to think backto your first Reiki session.
I expect it was just as lifechanging as mine was, and I
wasn't miraculously cured.
I didn't hear Angels sing, but.
I felt a deep sense of innerpeace that had alluded me to
(06:20):
that point.
I was in my early forties, and Idid not remember any time in the
previous 40 years feeling thatdeep sense of peace.
And even though I did feel a bitbetter after the session, what
kept me going back was I waschasing that deep sense of
peace.
I really wanted more of that.
(06:41):
And so it was my horsebackriding students.
My horses also delivered me notonly to my first Reiki session,
but they delivered my firstReiki teacher to me when I had a
horse, her name is Honey.
And for those of you watching onYouTube, her eye is right behind
me and she joins me in everyclass.
(07:03):
And Honey had a really difficultpast and I couldn't get through
to her.
And I tried everything I couldthink of.
And finally my same friend, mysame student, Liz said, what
about an animal communicator?
And she introduced me to ananimal communicator who turned
out to also be a Reiki masterteacher.
(07:25):
She became my first instructorwhen I was getting a nudge to go
on to Masters.
Personally, I didn't really wantto become.
A Reiki master.
I still actually had a fewissues with people because I was
an empath and I would pick upbaggage from people and I didn't
want to do that.
(07:46):
And I just wanted to hang outwith my animals and run my
animal business and my businessconsulting company.
But I had a bunch of horses thatI had trained and I sent them
Reiki on a daily basis in myReiki grid.
And on the days that I was justtoo occupied to send Reiki, I
(08:07):
would get three to six messagesfrom people and horse.
Owners who said, is there anychance you didn't send Reiki on
Wednesday?
Because my horse went back tostruggling and she hasn't
struggled since you startedsending every day.
And or my horse was acting thesame way they used to act, but
then Thursday they were fine.
(08:28):
And so I couldn't actually everskip a day and I thought this is
a big responsibility.
There's going to be some dayswhen I can't send Reiki may.
And so I asked my teacherbecause my teacher had offered
after my Reiki class to attune.
My animals to Reiki.
And at first I had 11 horses,then I have 12 now, but I had 11
(08:51):
then, and at first, only four ofthe 11 wanted Reiki.
You never you never do anattunement for an animal unless
they really want it and unlesstheir caregiver is open to it.
But when she offered Reiki to myhorses, I said yes just as
quickly and emphatically as Icould because I was starting to
(09:13):
notice that my horses were onpaths too.
And some of the stress thattheir students would leave
behind, some of the baggage thattheir students would bring to
riding lessons was getting leftbehind and it was starting to
build up in my horse's bodylanguage.
So she attuned all my horses tolevel one and it.
Amazing.
(09:34):
The the, my riding lessonschanged.
The dynamics in the herdchanged.
My horses became calmer.
I became calmer.
It I got the exact right mix ofstudents for me.
I just loved everybody I wasworking with.
It was amazing.
You could, it was visible too, like one of my little one of my
babies, one of my fos, my babyhorse.
(09:55):
She was very shy.
Nobody had ever seen her becauseshe was always hiding behind her
mother.
And the week after she had anattunement, she was standing at
the fence saying, and actuallyher name was Lizzie.
It was Liz.
And Lizzie was standing theresaying, hi, I am Lizzie.
And even people who.
Who weren't open to Reiki, couldn't ignore the the
(10:16):
beautiful change in herpersonality and demeanor in that
it had happened overnight likethat.
So when my teacher came back, all 11 horses wanted Reiki.
All of my 11 horses had levelone Reiki, and it was amazing.
A few weeks later, at first theyweren't sure.
They didn't know what it was,but once they did, they, they
wanted Reiki.
(10:37):
From that point forward, Istarted working with Reiki and
horses, but I asked my teacher,Hey, there is these other horses
that I train, that I helped totrain and that I send Reiki to
regularly.
Would you go and attune them aswell?
Even though I knew some of it,some of the horses had come from
far away, so it was gonnainvolve some travel, but she
(10:59):
actually said no, that shethought it was for me to do.
So I actually didn't have anyintention of becoming a Reiki
master.
I didn't actually think I wouldbe a good teacher.
I didn't really want to teach,and I thought if you were a
Reiki master, you had to teach.
But I really wanted to helpthese horses She said no, but
(11:21):
that, that it was for me to do.
So I understood that I was tobecome a master myself so that I
could attune these horses andthey wouldn't have to suffer any
time that I couldn't send Reiki.
So I actually wound up taking mynext level of Reiki from Pam
Nado.
(11:42):
I really wanted to go to Englandand study Reiki with William
Rand, but I didn't have anymoney and I didn't realize that
I that not having money and soon was a really deep seated
belief in me that I needed toovercome.
And so I just, I was at a pointwhen the money had stopped
(12:04):
flowing in and lots was flowingout and I was really struggling
financially.
My, our, we were, our familywas, and I went to Pam Naau, but
I really wanted to take a classin England with William Rand.
I just couldn't afford it.
And, Pam said and I justwondered if I did level three,
(12:25):
but I only wanted to attuneanimals and not people if I
might be able to learn how toattune these horses that needed
an attunement.
And Pam said why don't you cometo class and we'll fi we'll ask
and we'll see.
But during class I was reallyclear that I wasn't supposed to,
and she was grateful because shewas trying to figure out how to
tell me.
(12:45):
And she said, you're supposed togo to England and study with
William Rand.
Her process would've taken anadditional year and I was
willing to do that.
But she led me in an experienceto release the blocks and
barriers that I had placedfinancially to going to England
and doing this study.
(13:06):
And I didn't really believe thatit would work cuz I thought
money and Reiki were verydifferent things.
And she showed me that.
When you form an intention, themoney shows up.
The universe responds becausethat was on a Wednesday and on
Friday I received a check thatwas$10 more than the price of
(13:30):
the Reiki class.
And I knew that, and I rememberthinking, wow, I've got enough
money to buy a cup of coffee inthe airport.
Coffee in the airport wasexpensive and I took that as a
sign and with my husband'sblessings, went to England.
And after the class I talked tomy teacher, William Rand, and we
(13:51):
discussed how you would attunean animal.
I wrote an article about itcalled Horses that Heal that You
Can Access on my website ifyou'd like.
I'll put a link in the podcastnotes to it and.
Anyway, and the check came froma woman whose horses I had
(14:12):
trained as a favor, and when shesold one of the horses, she sent
me half the money and she said, you earned that.
You deserve that.
You go do something good withthat.
So I did my Reiki masters.
So really for me, the horseshave been present every step of
the way.
My first article that I wrotefor the Reiki News Magazine was
(14:34):
about what we discovered when weattuned animals.
The second article took that alittle further, and the third
and the fourth article was aboutwhat it felt like when Reiki
Attuned Animals decided.
To give Reiki to you because ofcourse it's up to them when they
have an attunement.
It's up to them to do what theywill with the energy.
(14:55):
But a lot of my animals havedecided to turn that Reiki
energy right back on me and meReiki sessions on a pretty
regular basis.
I really appreciate all theirsupport and, they started using
their Reiki energy with theirstudents.
I didn't ask them to, I don'tfeel that I have a right to do
(15:16):
that.
It was a choice that they made.
Their sentient beings, they canmake up their own mind about
what they want to do, includingcoming into lessons.
Or not.
And my horses generally chooseto come into riding lessons.
They really it's unusual.
They really love spending timewith us.
And the only time my horsestypically break a fence is if I
(15:39):
haven't included them in alesson and they really want to
be in it.
They'll sometimes break a fenceand come into the lesson,
especially if their persondidn't show up that week.
And they're normally in thelesson, they come in looking for
their person.
And it's very unusual behavior, but it's beautiful to me because
I know how much they loveworking with people.
(16:01):
And I've watched them choose towork with their Reiki.
So really for me, the horseshave supported me every step of
the way.
But in addition to doing all ofthose things that some of you
have maybe already heard aboutwhen you've heard aspects of my
story and my story with animals, the horses being doing Reiki
(16:26):
alongside my horses, oh, and I'mhappy to report, I was able to
visit every one of those horsesin my Reiki grid with their
caretaker's blessings, theirowner's blessings, and I was
able to attune them to Reiki sothey no longer had to rely on me
for their Reiki energy.
They had an opportunity tochannel it themselves whenever
(16:47):
they wished, and I still keptthem in my Reiki grid and sent
them Reiki, but I didn't feel itwas an obligation.
I knew that even on days when Icouldn't do that, that they were
going to be okay.
In addition to just being, partof pretty much every aspect of
my Reiki journey, every aspectthat stretched me, that caused
(17:11):
me to learn and grow, I signedup for the masterclass, but I
was, then, I was very nervous.
Who did I think I was to becomea Reiki master?
I didn't, I was, I'm just anormal person and Ma Reiki
masters, in my opinion, wereamazing people and I really
didn't think I had anythingspecial to offer.
And you know what?
It turns out I did just each ofyou do and are offering but so
(17:35):
often we all struggle with theseinsecurities and becoming a
Reiki master actually.
Was a side effect of coming homeand deciding I did love people
and I did want to teach peoplepeople are animals and I love
animals.
Therefore I must love people.
Was this huge revelation that Ihad after my masterclass and I
(17:58):
knew that I really did wannashare the gift of Reiki with
people.
And teaching Reiki has become myfavorites thing in the world to
do.
I just, I just get a tingle anda buzz when I know I'm gonna be
teaching a class on any givenday that I'm teaching.
I love it.
Then doing that and workingthrough that.
(18:20):
I also worked through myabundance issues inadvertently
and with assistance from thehorses.
And as I taught classes, ourfinancial issues worked out and
the horses were a big part ofthat.
And I wanna share with you, thatwas one of the first lessons
that I needed to learn.
(18:40):
And I'd like to share with youhow that happened.
I was actually working with thesame horse who, when he sold
half of his money paid for myReiki class.
And he was a beautifulregistered Appalooza, but he was
eight years old when he camehere.
He had no training.
(19:01):
And he taught me a lot.
I learned a lot from him and oneof his relatives, gem.
Taylor and Gem and I learned alot.
He helped me hone my trainingmethods.
He the two of the horses brokeeverything I had.
They were here for eight monthsand I learned so much from them,
but I had a really profoundexperience, a really profound
(19:24):
animal communication experiencewith him that began the healing
of my financial issues.
And what was happening at thattime is I would go and work like
crazy in my business consultingjob.
Which paid the bills so that Icould then come home and give
(19:47):
away horse riding lessons.
And I did charge for them, butif ever anybody was struggling,
I'd just say, no, that's okay.
You don't need to pay me.
And I was giving away Reiki.
I felt very uncomfortablereceiving payment for doing
Reiki sessions.
I never even some of thetraining people would insist on
paying me for the training.
But if ever anybody didn't havemoney and needed help, I would
(20:10):
help them.
So I was working really hard sothat I could then come home and
give away all my energy work forfree.
And Taylor said, you have tostop doing that.
He.
He told me that the work that Iwas embarking on and that I was
doing with the Reiki and withthe animal communication was
(20:33):
really important, groundbreakingwork.
And if I would simply chargepeople for it, allow them to pay
me for doing that work for them, that I wouldn't have, I would
have more time to do it.
And more time to teach peopleand more time to spend with
them, more time to spend in thatwork.
(20:55):
I wouldn't have to be doing allthe business consulting that
didn't really feed my soul.
And that was, yeah, it washelping people, but not to the
same degree that this work was.
So he really started me onrealizing that I was doing a
disservice to the work.
(21:15):
By not allowing people tocontribute it.
So that was an important lessonthat I didn't even have written
down here.
I wasn't, didn't expect that Iwas gonna be talking about that
one tonight.
And so that started that wholeprocess.
So once I did have my masters,my finances actually worked out.
And whenever I form an intentionnow to do something, the
(21:37):
finances, the universe responds, and the finances, the financial
support just shows upmiraculously the same way that
check showed up when it was timefor me to do my Reiki masters.
Another really important lessonthat the horses taught me with
Reiki was through Honey, thehorse that I mentioned.
(22:02):
I took honey to a trainer, and Ihad never, I've always been able
to train my own horses, and itwas a little bit embarrassing
for me to have to take honey toa horse trainer because I was
helping other people train theirhorses no problem.
But I could not get through tohoney whatsoever, and I really
(22:22):
wanted to help her.
All of the things that she wasdoing that were in, she injured
me.
She broke my ribs and broke mynose, and it wasn't anything she
was doing out of malice, it wasout of fear.
And I felt committed because Iwas aware she had a very
difficult four years before shecame here.
I really was committed to tryingto try to help her.
(22:45):
And so I went to a horse trainerand, she only returned
marginally better, but she was abit better.
But still somewhat dangerous.
And yet I learned one of my mostimportant life lessons from that
horse trainer.
This was in 2009, I believe, just when I had first started my
(23:06):
business and I invested in honeythinking that I could help her
overcome the difficulties shehad experienced.
But I didn't, I wasn't able to.
And so I had to go quite faraway to Maine in order to find a
trainer who was more experiencedthan I was.
(23:27):
And.
And there was a new form ofhorsemanship that existed at the
time.
And at first it was callednatural horsemanship.
And there's animal people oftenwe were, we can be a little bit
opinionated.
We can have our own ideas aboutthings.
And so there were a lot ofdifferent names and a lot of
(23:47):
different people saying no, youshould call it something
different.
And some people were saying, dothis.
Other people were saying no, dothat.
Other people were saying, don'tlisten to those guys.
Do this other thing.
And I was just, I was trying tolearn.
All that I could so that I couldbe the best horse woman I could
be.
And I really believe if you wantto learn, teach.
So I was teaching riding lessonswith the knowing that teaching
(24:13):
was going to drive me to learnmore.
That when you're teaching, you're constantly looking for
more information.
You're constantly challenged.
You have people asking youquestions that maybe you never
thought of.
And so I was teaching these newmethods, but there was still a
lot about them that I didn'tunderstand.
(24:34):
And then all the controversy wasvery confusing for me.
And maybe you've been involvedwith something in your lives
where there's controversy.
I remember there beingcontroversy at church when I was
growing up and controversy in, Idon't know, a lot of different
modalities and a lot ofdifferent things that I learned
and.
I asked him like, I don'tunderstand obviously you are a
(24:58):
better horse person than I am.
It was obvious and you'vefigured this out, so please, can
you tell me what's, which ofthese guys is right?
And he said in, in differentlanguage, but none of them and
all of them.
And this has been he gave me away to manage my life honestly.
(25:25):
He said, Pam, how long have youbeen working with horses?
And today I've been working withhorses for 44 years, but at that
point it was 32 years or 30years, something like that.
And I said 30 years.
And he said, you know whatyou're doing.
And he knew I was anagricultural scientist.
He was an agricultural scientistas well.
(25:45):
And he said, What you do is youtake the part of that guy's
stuff that works for you and youthrow away the rest, and then
you take that guy's stuff thatresonates with you and throw
away the rest and just keepdoing that.
And pretty soon you're gonnahave something that really works
for you.
(26:05):
I honestly think that's one ofthe best pieces of advice I've
ever received from ahorsemanship standpoint.
I was able to take that anddevelop methods that are beyond
what most of those wonderful, experienced, generous trainers
shared through clinics and booksand videos and so on.
(26:28):
I studied everything I could getmy hands on, and these are horse
people that had a, had moreexperience than I had that were
passionate, that were reallygood.
And yet there were sometimesaspects of what they did that I
thought, no, I don't like that.
I'm not gonna do that.
And then there were aspects ofwhat they did that really
integr.
(26:49):
With me and made a lot of senseand what I was able to put
together.
I was able to be extremelysuccessful working with horses.
But this advice, I think, pertains to anything in our
lives because even the spiritualpath many of us who are on a
spiritual path have studied alot of different modalities.
(27:12):
Think about all the things thatyou've learned as you've come up
through and the differentmodalities, and I think no one
person.
Is going to have all of theanswers for you and you're gonna
continue to learn and grow.
It's one of the reasons Iencourage people to review
classes because when you, sometimes when you go back, even
(27:34):
if you say, take the same classfrom the same teacher, your
teachers in a different placethan when you took the class,
they've probably learned a fewthings and grown a little bit
and you're in a different place, you get a completely different
experience.
But I think it's up to us tofigure out our own truth and
what works for us.
(27:55):
And so even sometimes there'sgonna be things that I talked to
you about or share with you thathelped me in the hope that will
help you.
And but if it doesn't, even if.
Think I'm great and respect methat that doesn't matter.
You take the parts that work foryou and forget about the rest.
(28:18):
There was a wonderful book thatI read by Bill Dorrance,
actually.
He wrote it with Leslie Desmond.
He's an old horse train.
He was 90 years old when shehelped him put together his book
on his horseman.
And he said something in it thatI loved.
He said I've learned a fewthings in 90 years, and if I can
(28:39):
share some of them with you togive you some shortcuts so that
you can take things further thanI did, then that's what this
book is for.
And I realized, wow, that's whatI wanna do.
When I teach, I if I can sharethings that help people so that,
I love all the time.
I'll be in class and I'll say,it took me nine years to learn
(29:02):
this, but I think I can teach itto you if you've got 15 minutes.
And I love.
The fact that all of thatexperience can be distilled
down.
And then sometimes your studentsand your clients, you want them
to do really well in their livesand in their practices and in
whatever they choose to do withReiki.
(29:24):
I think it can be beautiful whenI'm learning all the time from
my students.
They'll come back and say, Itook this and I took it a little
further.
And I think I never thought ofdoing that.
That's brilliant.
So that has also informed me.
Another thing the horses taughtme early on is that I needed to
(29:45):
be present.
And that was very obvious when Iwas training horses.
I could not allow my attentionto wander for an instant.
I could not be thinking about mynext move or the next thing that
I was gonna do, or I would losethat young and frightened horse.
It was really important for meto be a leader and to be the
(30:11):
type of leader that my horseswanted to follow.
And my horse storm is the leaderof my herd, and I was able to
watch, just observe him.
I have never seen a horse'sstyle of leadership quite like
his, he the other horses, justjust by being in his presence.
(30:37):
They settle down, they're calm, they know that he has got
things.
He has this gentle it's odd tosay these words together, but he
has this gentle, commanding wayof being, and he doesn't, he has
never had to kick, I have neveronce seen him resort to
(31:00):
violence, not once.
In order to maintain his statusas the leader of the herd or to
discipline another horse, he isable to let them know what he's
thinking with a look like.
You shouldn't have done that.
And they just, oh, no, he gaveme a look.
(31:21):
He is the most fair, kind, confident leader.
That I've ever worked with.
And he taught me how to be thesame.
And what's funny is that there'stimes when he needs to borrow my
confidence and there's timeswhen I need to borrow his.
(31:42):
And we have this beautifulsymbiotic relationship where the
leadership just passes back andforth between us.
And it's a style of leadershipthat neither one of us has ever
needed to be forceful or violentwith the other.
(32:03):
We have been able to supporteach other and we seem to really
respect each other.
And I, I just can't say enoughabout this horse, but also about
the style of leadership.
He taught me that you don't haveto be It's violent.
(32:24):
You don't, you can be gentle andcommanding and respected and
heard and listened to all at thesame time.
And so it, it was a verybeautiful style of leadership.
And I may I have in my thirdbook, it's still a little ways
out, but I am gonna write a bookcalled Horses Done Differently.
(32:45):
And I will definitely explorejust trying to get the right
words for what I learned fromStorm, because I just I can't
say enough about what I'velearned the most significant
thing he has ever had to do to ahorse that was really pushing
the boundaries and beingdisrespectful with some of the
other horses is back up towardhim, toward the other horses and
(33:08):
they just go, oh, no.
And whoops, I've upset him.
I don't want to upset him.
And so it's a style ofleadership that the horse, the
other horses want to follow.
Mark Rashid talks about it inone of his books and and that's
the style of leadership that, that he's been helping me to
develop, which I really like.
(33:29):
But within that style, I knewthat when I'm training a horse
and they don't understand, andthey're a bit frightened, if.
My attention waivers for even amoment, it can be catastrophic.
And that has happened for me atime or two when I trained
(33:49):
horses.
And I felt that, I realized thathorses are very present, animals
are very present.
They're here, they're now justI'm with you right now.
I don't need to be planning mynext words.
I don't need to be thinkingabout later.
And they showed me how to dothat and then also, and how to
(34:10):
do that within the Reiki energyso that when I do Reiki
sessions, I can be here now.
But they showed me so much aboutthe importance of presence.
That and the importance ofpresence, especially if you are
in a leadership role as you arewhen you're training horses.
That I developed an essentialoil called presence, and I used
(34:33):
it to assist me because I justknew how important it is to be
present and they really I usedto go for a horseback ride and
just think about all the otherthings.
And between Reiki and the horsesthey showed me how to release
all those other things and justbe here now with the animal
(34:55):
that's in front of me.
Another really important lessonthat the animals taught me was
about the word don't and aboutworrying.
And they showed me that animalsand horses don't hear the word,
don't, and neither does theuniverse, by the way, you guys
incidentally, even if you're notworking with animals, When
(35:18):
you're thinking and I use theexample of a horse, when you're
riding a horse thinking, don'tbuck, please don't buck.
The horses have showed me theyhear buck and they think, no.
They thought that can't be whatthey're asking for.
Buck.
Really?
You really want me to buck?
Buck?
Okay, she's asked for it threetimes.
Alright, I'll go ahead and buck.
(35:39):
So whenever we spend timefocusing on what we don't want,
the universe and animals andhorses here, don't hear the
don't.
If that's where, what ourattention is on, then they
believe that's what we want.
(35:59):
And They buck.
If you think, I don't wanna getin a car accident.
I don't wanna get in a caraccident.
Or if you worry William Randsays, worrying is like praying
for what you don't want.
So any time spent thinking aboutsomething that you don't want is
time that it actually.
(36:20):
Sending energy toward what youdon't want.
And so that I used to be a realworrier, and I knew that the
Reiki our Reiki ideals are justfor today.
I will not worry, I will not beangry.
I will be filled with gratitude.
I will be devoted to my work, and I will be kind to all living
(36:40):
beings.
But I didn't really know how notto worry.
I was raised in a family ofwarriors.
I was really well trained inworrying, and yet when the
horses showed me that worryingcalled in what I didn't want, I
was able to look at things fromtheir perspective.
(37:03):
And I was finally able to shiftand let go of that habit and
create a new habit that didn'tinvolve worrying.
The animals also the horses alsotaught me a lot about ego.
Sometimes I would feel prettysmart or feel pretty special
(37:24):
because I had done somethingamazing with Reiki or with my
intuition or something likethat.
Or I had helped somebodyimmensely with an animal
communication session orsomething, and I'd be, I'd go
out and, be patting myself onthe back or something like that,
whenever I would get a littletoo big for my britches.
(37:47):
Somebody would hip check me intoa manure pile or into a mud
puddle or just, make me realizeyou know what, you're just the
same as everybody else.
We're all special.
You're no more special than therest of us.
And so the horses reallyassisted me as I learned this to
(38:08):
keep things in perspective.
I guess.
They also explained to me, orshowed me the importance of
listening.
And I know that I sometimesconfuse people when I talk about
listening because one of thethings that you'll notice about
all animals is they don't justlisten with their ears.
(38:33):
They listen with their skin.
They listen they feel vibrationsthat are around them.
They listen with their paws.
They feel what they feel fromthe earth.
They listen with every part ofthemselves.
And they listen with theirintuition.
(38:54):
They listen with theirinstincts.
They listen with their mind justas much as they listen with
their soul and their heart andtheir body and their being.
And so I've discovered thatanimals don't just listen with
their ears.
They listen with every part oftheir being.
And in fact, there's somethingreally telling about horses.
(39:17):
Their ear will point to whattheir eye is looking at.
And so they really do link allof their senses and they listen
with that.
And I've had people ask, can youuse the word perception or
awareness?
And I ha I can't in thatinstance because perception and
(39:39):
awareness are passive.
And what the animals do is notpassive.
It's active.
They.
Listen.
And so listening is active and Ihaven't been able to find
another word besides listeningthat really describes the
action.
The I've got all of the parts ofmy being working together, and
(40:03):
even I've got, I'm evenlistening with all of my
chakras.
I'm listening with every part ofwho I am.
And listen is the only word thatI've been able to come up with
that is as active.
But learning to listen the wayanimals listen has really helped
me become an animalcommunicator.
It helped me learn to listen toReiki, to listen to my guides,
(40:28):
to listen to God, to listen tomy own instincts, my own
intuition.
And it provided me thatlistening as it developed,
gained a discernment.
Of how to really interpretthings with a clear filter
rather than a filter that maybewas caught in judgment or trauma
(40:52):
or projection.
And so I have to thank theanimals for just observing them,
just spending time with them.
And a lot of you who are hereare animal lovers too.
And so just, as you're spendingtime with your animals, listen,
pay attention.
Notice them.
Notice how they do things, andconnect with them with Reiki and
(41:16):
ask them to show you.
Because when you can connectwith another species or your
own, it opens up a world ofpossibilities and information
for you and wisdom that you maynot have had.
And so the animals have workingwith the horses has given me a
(41:36):
lot of understanding of theirperspective on things.
And to be honest, I think I'vespent so much time with horses
and with animals that theirperspectives sometimes make a
little bit more sense to me thanthe human perspective.
Sometimes they'll point out someof the things that we do and
(41:57):
they'll be puzzled about it.
And I look at it through theireyes and I think, oh, now that
I'm thinking about it the wayyou are, I guess I'm puzzled by
how, why we act that way too.
And and it's really interesting.
And the final thing I want totalk to you about today and
maybe really focus on even inour healing session that that
(42:21):
follows is bracing.
One of the things that and thisis a concept that I have to
thank Mark Rashid for mark Talkstalked to us.
I got to attend several of hisseminars.
And one of the seminars hetalked to us about the
importance of not bracing.
And the theory is that when youare, 150 to 250 pound person
(42:48):
working with a 1200 to 1500pound, or sometimes in the case
of draft animals, 2000 poundanimal if you get into a war
with your muscles, guess who'sgoing to win?
And so he talked about how.
If you, mark does a lot of workaround nonviolence and
(43:10):
consensual leadership, which is,I think that was the word I was
looking for, this consensualleadership that storm.
And I have figured out.
But Mark talks about how if youtry to force an animal that
outweighs you by a factor offive, or even more, maybe even a
(43:33):
factor of 10, if it's a largeranimal you can't muscle them
into doing what you want them todo.
So in order to be a reallyeffective trainer, and this has
become probably the thing thatkind of the s resistance, the
final piece of my horsetraining, that really did allow
(43:55):
me to be effective with horsesin order to.
Convince them to do what youwant to do.
You have to learn to drop all ofthe brace out of your body.
Now, some of you are going to besensitive enough to feel this.
(44:17):
If I just do this within my ownbody right now, some of you may
need some assistance from theReiki energy, but for those of
you who are watching on YouTube,if I'm bracing one hand against
the other, you know there'sgonna be some back and forth,
but they're pretty equal andwe're not going to get anywhere.
But if I drop the brace out ofone hand at first, the hand
(44:40):
that's being forceful will getits way.
But pretty soon, the hand thathas dropped its brace.
I usually show this with peopleand I say, push against me all
that you want, and I'll pushagainst them and we show that
demonstration and then I'll dropthe brace out of my body and I
say, now, push against me, andthey can't.
(45:03):
And just with the lightest touchof my hand, I am able to gently
move them where I want them togo.
And so I think about this often.
Because as people don't, webrace against each other a lot.
In fact, I just had a student inthe class that I'm teaching
(45:26):
today who had this wonderfulexplanation, and I didn't ask
her permission, but I think I'mjust gonna share the explanation
with you.
I know I hope she would agreebecause it was brilliant.
And she said, we are meant tostretch and grow and be moving
in these directions, but whatwar is that we start bracing
(45:50):
against each other and suddenlynobody moves anywhere.
And of course, for those of youwho are familiar with the world
Peace Energy, the world peaceenergy is really all about
releasing all of the brace thatexists within us.
(46:12):
It's not always comfortable.
We sometimes get used to thatbrace, being in our bodies,
being in our minds, being in ourpersonalities, in our spirit
maybe, or our soul.
Maybe it, it shows up in ouremotions.
We got used to having opinionsabout things, bracing about
(46:33):
things, but the animals showedme early on that not only
wouldn't I be a successful horsetrainer if I didn't stop
bracing, but it would also bevery difficult for me to
communicate with animalseffectively if I was still using
the bracing behaviors ofjudgment opinion.
I'm no different than anybodyelse.
(46:54):
I had a lot of judgment.
That's a lesson that Reiki hashelped me with and the horses
and that I had to learn.
I had a lot of opinions.
I had a lot of lenses throughwhich I viewed things that there
was a right way to do things andthis sort of thing.
And I had to, I had projectionsof my own, beliefs and I had
some rigid beliefs.
(47:15):
And the animals let me know thatthey don't operate with rigid
beliefs and with bracing.
And if we don't brace againstthem, then there's nothing for
them to brace against and we canjust get along and be consensual
and move together and learntogether.
(47:36):
And so bracing has maybe beenone of the important, most
important lessons.
Now, if you wonder if there'sany brace in your body Family
can bring it out.
I always talk about how I can beso proud of how zen I am and how
I can be calm in so manysituations, but my teenage kids
(47:59):
could bring brace out in me thatI didn't even know that was
there.
And yet, when I learned aboutbracing with the horses, I very
quickly wondered where else Iwas bracing in my.
Where was I holding myself backfrom growth and opportunity
(48:22):
because I was really stuck in anopinion or because I was bracing
against a change or against anew way of doing things.
I used to brace againsttechnology.
I didn't like technology.
And today I thank technologyevery day that we can be here
together like this, in thisenvironment with a low
(48:44):
Environmental footprint,learning and growing together
and sharing ideas.
So I really, you know what Idiscovered, I had a lot of areas
in my life that I bracedagainst.
I really braced against change.
I was really resistant tochange, which is probably also a
reason I was resistant totechnology because of course,
technology is always growing andchanging, and I don't know about
(49:07):
you, but I just get used to asystem and then they change it
and I think, oh, no, I finallyfigured this out.
Now I have to start all overagain.
But I don't actually braceagainst that anymore.
I realize that if they changedmy phone or they changed my
system, I'm gonna have a day ortwo of frustration, as because
(49:28):
it doesn't work the way that itused to.
But there must have been areason that people changed it.
And there were probably, thereare probably some positive
things that are coming from it.
I braced in relationships.
I wonder if you give a littlebit of thought to that.
If you can think like, where doI brace in my life?
Are there any bra relationshipsyou brace with?
Do you have any strong opinionsor do you find yourself in a
(49:53):
place of judgment?
Sometimes maybe, maybe you don'tvery often, but maybe there's
one situation or two that youfind yourself in a space of
opinion or judgment.
These are areas of our livesthat we brace, and the animals
have shown me that if you candrop the brace out of your body,
(50:14):
you can really live peacefullyin the here and now.
The world peace energy, when itcame in last spring showed us
that the whole.
That, that the reason there isconflict in the world is that
while there is inner conflict, there's always gonna be outer
(50:35):
conflict.
And I think the bracing is thesign of this conflict.
It's a resistance of sort.
If you're wondering what it is,it's a resistance.
And you might feel it as atightness in your physical body.
You might feel it as adiscomfort or a not wanting to
move ahead or change or grow inyour mind your personality.
(50:57):
If there are any relationshipsor any places in your life where
conflict exists, you can be surethat there is brace around that
as well.
Okay.
And and actually Jane justmentioned that bracing sounds a
lot like opposition reflex thatwe can learn about and I've
(51:19):
never heard it called that, butJane, that does sound like a
very similar thing.
So thank you.
So guys, I'm gonna lead us in ameditation now that just helps
bring some of this as thislearning, some of these lessons
just helps integrate them forus.
(51:40):
And during this lesson, if you'dlike to release the brace
because as the world peaceenergy showed us as.
Have internal conflict.
It will always show up in ourexternal world.
So if there is any area ofconflict in your external world,
I invite you to think about thatnow and maybe form an intention
(52:05):
to let it go, and we'll go intoour meditation.
With that intention in mind, I'djust like to invite you to close
your eyes and take a deep breathand just bring your hands into
Gassho Once more, justreconnecting with the Reiki
(52:26):
energy.
And you may still be connected,or you may have been listening
and just drifted a bit, thinkingabout your symbols.
And then just place your handscomfortably on your body,
wherever you feel guided.
(52:47):
Today we are going to beaddressing different areas of
our lives where conflict exists, and sometimes we experience
conflict around learning.
So I'd like you to think aboutall of the, that you've learned
(53:09):
on your spiritual path and justnotice, was there any time or
any of that learning that anytime that I felt in conflict
with some of that learning, andif there was, you can go ahead
and ask the Reiki energy toassist you in holding on to the
(53:33):
pieces that were important toyou and that resonated with you
and just letting the rest.
We're just gonna spend a fewmoments here.
There may have been other areasin your journey, in your
learning where there were partsthat you learned that worked for
(53:58):
you, in parts that didn't, butyou tried to make them fit.
Just let them go now and justallow all of that learning to
integrate in your body, yourmind, your soul, and your
spirit, your personality, youremotions in a way that's right
(54:20):
and resonant with you.
We each have our own truth andour own inner authority, and so
we have the ability to determinethis for our.
And if you have or ever dostruggle with an ability to be
(54:46):
present, sometimes gettingcaught in drama loops a habit of
looking to the future or lookingto the past.
We release that with lovebecause the present moment is
truly all there is.
And true joy in living lifeoccurs only in the present and
(55:16):
only when we can be in thepresent.
When you can be present in yourrelationships with animals, with
other people, with yourself.
There's an appreciation, anacknowledgement in the other
(55:46):
person, even if it's yourselffeels heard.
And sometimes we forget tolisten to those inner voices
that come from the soul, andwe're just going to invite the
(56:08):
energy to remind us not toworry.
Just for today, I will notworry, will not be angry.
I'll be grateful.
I'll be devoted to my work andI'll be kind.
Can we just release thatattachment to thinking about the
(56:30):
things.
That we don't want to bring intoour lives, and we ask the energy
to assist us in making a shiftso that we can focus on the
positive that exists, just aspresent around you as the
negative, and we can focus onwhat we do want and we can then
(56:55):
attract that into our lives.
Just for today, I release thehabit of worry, and if our ego
is stepping forward for healingnow we invite the Reiki energy
to go ahead and heal our ego, tobring it into the same degree of
(57:24):
enlightenment that the rest ofus exists in For.
It is the unhealed.
It causes problems.
The healed ego is a vehicle forthe expression of spiritual
energies here on Earth.
And if sometimes we havedifficulty listening truly,
(57:49):
clearly with every part of ourbeing, and without listening
through the lens of our ownexperience or our own prejudice
or trauma or beliefs, we releasethat as well.
We invite the Reiki energy tohelp us listen with the totality
(58:16):
of our being, and from a placeof pure consciousness with no
filter.
We invite the energy to exposeus to the perspective of others,
(58:39):
and through empathy andcompassion, we can learn from
other people's and otheranimals' perspectives.
And we are open to that todayday.
And if there is any area of yourlife where bracing exists or
(59:00):
where conflict exists, we justrelease the bracing now from our
physical body, our mind, oursoul, and spirit, our emotions,
and from our thoughts andbeliefs.
(59:23):
Just allowing the brace to dropinto the earth and allowing the
world peace energy to escort itfrom us today so that we can
release the inner conflict thatinvites outer conflict or that
(59:45):
shows up as outer conflict.
We understand that this may be aprocess, so we invite the energy
to just help us with anawareness of when and where
bracing shows up for us.
(01:00:10):
And finally, in at least onearea of your life, Maybe not
every area, but at least one,and maybe in several areas you
probably have an opportunity forleadership.
(01:00:31):
Sometimes it's with our animalsor our children.
Sometimes it's with students orclients.
Sometimes it's in our work, sometimes it's in our personal
lives.
And if you would be interestedin welcoming a beautiful,
(01:00:55):
respectful, consensual style ofleadership, I believe Storm is
here with us today, and he isopen and willing to share that
perspective and that abilitywith you as am I.
(01:01:18):
It's not saying that it's aperfect style of leadership, but
if it's a style that resonateswith you, go ahead and open your
heart to receive it.
(01:01:54):
I'm hearing that sometimes weneed to move into that
beautiful, respectful,consensual style of leadership
with ourselves, and sometimesthe person we treat with the
least consideration and respectis us.
(01:02:15):
And if that's the case, go aheadand open your heart in that
aspect as well.
(01:03:00):
Invite you to stay in this spaceas long as you feel guided.
And I thank you for being heretogether.
With us today, Namaste.
