  This is the second of our ReikiBasics series, and what we're
  wanting to do is just help youexplain some of the basics of

  Reiki to your friends and yourpotential students and clients
  and so on.
  And also there might be some ofthese things.
  You didn't cover when youlearned Reiki, or maybe you
  covered it but you hadforgotten.
  So I think that this race, ReikiBasics series is something that
  you can refer potential clients,family members, friends who
  
  (01:38):
  wonder what you're doing to, ifyou wish.
  Feel free to do that.
  And also it may help you indescribing and explaining Reiki
  to others.
  In this week's podcast, we'regoing to cover what is a Reiki
  session, what's involved in it,what to expect, and so on.
  
  (01:59):
  And and this might help youbetter explain it to others as
  well.
  Welcome, Karen.
  Thank you.
  Thanks for having me.
  We always have a good time.
  I think that we, help each otherremember all the, important
  points so he knows, Yeah,sometimes we get too tangled up
  in some of the, higher end stuffand we forget some of the basics
  
  (02:24):
  ourselves.
  Somebody just exactly what Reikiwas the other day.
  And I tripped over my tongue andmy husband said, You wrote a
  part of a chapter on that, andwhy, did you have trouble with
  that?
  I said, Oh, just sometimes youjust have trouble And I think
  it's important to come back tothe basics.
  Even if you are a seasoned Reikipractitioner or a seasoned Reiki
  
  (02:47):
  teacher, coming back to thebasics is an important part of
  your growth because as you growand practice more you, have a
  different perspective.
  So coming back to the basics is,I think good for everyone.
  I agree.
  Karen, I'm glad you're doingthis.
  I'm glad we're do, we're doingthis, series actually.
  It's a lot of fun.
  
  (03:08):
  Before we get too far in, I justwanna let you know that I have
  Animal Reiki one and two andMasters coming up in a, week or
  two, couple of weeks, I thinkfrom now.
  And those are both online and inperson here at the farm.
  So please join us if you'reguided in a few weeks after
  that, starting October 31st.
  
  (03:30):
  I've got a Kaurna Reiki class.
  Kaurna Reiki is an advancedmaster class.
  It's for people who have been atthe Usui Reiki master level for
  any lineage for at least sixmonths.
  And if you feel ready to takethings a little further and go
  to Kaurna, I'm actually teachingit in an Australian friendly
  time zone, which means that it'sevenings here in North America.
  
  (03:54):
  And sometimes that works reallywell for people.
  In January, I have a full lineupof classes and in December I
  have six days of animal classes,level one and two Reiki animal
  communication and the animalReiki.
  And it's all around a weekend.
  So if you really are intoanimals, join us in December.

  But I also particularly wantedto let my Australian students
  know, or North American studentswho've always wanted to travel
  to Australia that I will beteaching in person in Australia,
  level one and two Masters andAnimal Reiki one and two in
  March.

  Very similar only I'm teachingKaurna in December but I teach
  Reiki one and two, Reiki MasterAnimal one and two and Animal
  Master every month.
  And I try to very.
  During the week and weekends.

  You've got an interesting classcoming up, Bo, Karen, and for
  students in Asia, do you not?
  I do.
  I forgot about that.
  Yes.
  This month, actually, the end ofthis month I'm teaching animal
  Reiki master over two weekends.
  So Friday for me it's Friday andSaturday morning.
  For those in Asia, it's fromseven to 11.
  
  (05:21):
  Friday on Friday the 21st andSaturday the 22nd, and the
  following Friday the 28th andSaturday the 29th.
  And if you're in London, thatwould be same dates, but from
  noon till.
  So it would work really well forpeople who like getting up very
  early in North America or whoare a little further east like I
  
  (05:43):
  am for people in Europe.
  And it would also work reallywell for any of your Asian
  students or any, Asian studentswho are looking to do animal
  Reiki masters.
  So I really encourage you ifthat speaks to you, taking it
  over two weekends is a lovelyway to do.
  Some people do like to break itup that way since you do have
  
  (06:03):
  four ignitions to the symbol.
  So you'll get an ignition andexercises, meditations, practice
  time, every and the master levelis powerful.
  We're going to do in our Reikibasic series, we're gonna talk
  just about animal Reiki, but letme just say at this point it's
  powerful.
  Yeah.
  
  (06:24):
  Thank you.
  I'm be gonna also ask peoplebefore we get too far in, if you
  have Reiki, just to bring yourhands together in Gassho and
  close your eyes.
  and just invite your Reikienergy to activate and all of

  And at the end of our talktoday, I'm going to share with
  you a wonderful healingexperience, which forms the
  basis of most of my Reikiclasses, actually.
  And so once your energy'sactivated, just place your hands
  
  (07:06):
  on your body, wherever you feelguided.
  And Karen, let's just start withthe very first question.
  What is a Reiki session and whatcan somebody expect if they book
  a Reiki session?
  What, does that usually looklike?
  Do you wanna give that a shot?
  Sure.
  I'm doing only distance sessionsnow.
  
  (07:28):
  Me too.
  But let me talk about.
  What an in-person session islike, people say, What should I
  expect?
  I say dress comfortably.
  You're going to lie down on amassage table.
  If you're cold, nature dress,you know appropriately, but I
  cover people up with a blanketusually.
  
  (07:48):
  And then sometimes they're like,I have to get out from under
  this blanket because the Reiki,my Reiki hands are hot.
  I may touch or not, I usuallyhave a form for people to fill
  out where I ask things like, Areyou sensitive to touch?
  Are you sensitive to smells?
  Sometimes I will ask clients ifthey would like me to use
  
  (08:10):
  essential oils.
  Pam, I know you have your ownline of essential oils.
  They really help to move theenergy sometimes.
  But I, always ask, some peopleare really sensitive to smells
  and they get on the table.
  And I, usually if I ask, Is thisyour first Reiki session?
  
  (08:30):
  But I'll tell them a little bitabout how I do my session.
  First of all, I'll ask do you onthe form I asked, do you have
  any particular intention forthis or are you just why are you
  here So that we can worktogether.
  And then I'll explain that WhatI'm doing is I'm just doing a
  
  (08:51):
  scan.
  And I tell them I talkconstantly.
  The only time I am not talkingis when I'm doing a Reiki
  session.
  I'm a real blabber mouth but Itell them if you have a question
  or you want to comment Oh, Ifeel something, or I, encourage
  people to, go ahead and comment.
  And I tell them also, it'scompletely fine if they fall
  
  (09:13):
  asleep.
  I would say half, at least halfof my clients fall asleep during
  the session because they get sorelaxed.
  But I'll tell'em, Okay, so I'mjust gonna scan and I'll do a BS
  and scan.
  And sometimes I'm moving myhands over their their face and
  they'll say, Oh, I feel that ButI'll tell'em like, I'm just
  feeling your energy feels justto see how your energy feels.
  
  (09:36):
  And I can tell where things areblocked and, not just because
  The, energies that they'reflowing or it's not usually like
  people who are not talking aboutsomething that's bothering,
  bothering them, and they haven'tbeen talking about it for a long
  time.
  I'll scan and I'll feel like,Ooh, it's what's going on here?
  
  (09:59):
  And I'll tell them I, I may askquestions, but for the most part
  I'm quiet.
  And so I'll tell'em, I start atthe top of the head usually,
  unless I'm guided to gosomewhere else, can, I'll just
  work my way down.
  Ending with the feet.
  I also ask them if they have anytrouble with their back.
  I'll tell'em, because so manypeople fall asleep.
  
  (10:20):
  I don't always turn people overand my backside because the goes
  where it needs to go.
  And the session up, How aboutyou?
  I never turn them over eitherKaren and I can shimmy my hands
  underneath of them if I need to,but one thing about it that is
  
  (10:41):
  that some people might thinkbecause it's a massage table,
  you would get undressed the wayyou do for a massage, but you
  don't, you're fully clothedduring a Reiki session.
  You might, you probably takeyour shoes off, but otherwise
  than that you, stay fullyclothed and like Karen said,
  dressed to your level ofcomfort.
  And there are different types ofReiki sessions, and I think it's
  
  (11:04):
  important to know that every.
  Reiki practitioner has their ownstyle.
  Some people use only handpositions.
  Some people you might guide youin a meditation and then use a
  few hand positions.
  Some people don't use any handpositions at all, but as a.
  
  (11:24):
  Client, you get to direct thesession.
  One of the first things that Ialways ask a client, I use the
  form with the I C R T when welearn our level one and two
  Reiki, we have a, clientinformation form.
  And I always, fill those in.
  
  (11:45):
  And I think I always have,because otherwise from session
  to session, I might forget whattook place.
  And and so I fill those in andlike you, I find out if there
  was a particular issue that theywant to work on.
  But one of the first questionswhen I used to do in-person
  
  (12:06):
  sessions, and I simply don'thave time now, so I, have to see
  my clients at a distance now inorder to fit everybody in that,
  that is wanting to book sessionsand But I would ask, do you like
  touch or would you rather Ibeam?
  Because you don't have to touchyour clients.
  So I've actually had clientswho, for one reason, weren't
  
  (12:29):
  comfortable with touch and it'sabsolutely no problem.
  I could still do their Reikisession and just direct the
  energy above their body with myhands where it needed to go.
  I was just teaching a Reikilevel one and two class today.
  And somebody asked a questionlike, If you, I'm clairvoyant,
  
  (12:52):
  Karen, I know you'reclairvoyant.
  What do you do with theinformation that you get?
  And I said that's reallyinteresting because I asked
  Reiki I don't wanna see yourprivate stuff I want.
  And so for me, a Reiki sessionis between you and the energy.
  
  (13:13):
  I want you to know that didn'tknow that your privacy remains
  private.
  And certainly as a Reiki teacherwith the I C R T and our code of
  ethics, we don't discusspeople's treatments with anybody
  without their expresspermission.
  And and that's even to, share astory in a class or something
  
  (13:36):
  like I, you only share thosestories if you have permission
  from the client.
  Their, session is private.
  And, even those of us withclairvoyant abilities, we don't
  like to pry into your.
  Private your privacy.
  We, so we just connect you withthe energy.
  
  (13:59):
  We may observe some shapes orcolors lifting from you, but we,
  but beyond that, we typicallydon't have a lot of information
  unless you wish to give it tous.
  What are some of the otherthings about a session?
  Are amazing.
  
  (14:20):
  Yes.
  And at the end of the session, Ialways before I share any,
  anything that I feel like I needto share, I always ask the
  client, So what did youexperience?
  Did to see if they have anyquestions or if they so I, let
  them take the lead.
  What, do you want to know alwaysor how, do you feel?
  
  (14:45):
  Or and then if it's a distancesession, it's a little different
  because I'm not there.
  Although I've had clients say,It feels like you're in the room
  with me.
  And I said I think I amenergetically I am in the room.
  It's, really bizarre.
  I like to stay on the phone withclients especially nude clients
  
  (15:08):
  on the phone.
  If it's an international client,we'll use Zoom usually, but then
  I, still can't see'em cuz I'llhave them lie down, but I like
  to be connected because they mayhave a question sometimes I'll
  be giving a session and you knowhow when something releases,
  there's like a feeling eventhough I'm just using a pillow
  in addition session, I'll feellike a, sense shift.
  
  (15:30):
  Yes.
  Okay.
  And I, like to be connected cuzsometimes the client will say
  Oh, that.
  My foot just bumped or the, Ithink that they feel more
  connected that way so that, sothe distance sessions are a
  little bit different Sometimes Ihave two clients who, are really
  busy and they're like, I wantyou to do a session on me and
  
  (15:53):
  just type the notes and sendthem to me.
  And they so I do the sessioncompletely, even without.
  connect, verbal contact withthem at all because I connect
  energetically with them.
  And, yeah.
  So there are lots of differentways you can do, the sessions.
  There really are.
  I just wanna go back to the, inperson, just for one thing that
  
  (16:17):
  you said.
  You had said that that you stayquiet and I do too.
  And I find that's reallyimportant to just let the person
  be alone in their space and, intheir, in the energy.
  And people often do get veryrelaxed and fall asleep.
  But yes.
  If any, if they ever have aquestion.
  But let's just go back a littlebit about distance sessions,
  
  (16:40):
  Karen, cuz we're, talking aboutthem.
  But I wanna share with you thatI almost gave up Reiki because
  of distance sessions and becauseof the distance symbol.
  Because I simply couldn't wrapmy head around the fact that
  they could be.
  
  (17:01):
  And that somebody who wasn'teven in the same room as me or
  who wasn't in, even in the samecountry as me or continent as
  me, could possibly give me atreatment.
  And I actually, even thoughReiki had already had a huge
  impact on my life with my levelone class, when I did a level
  
  (17:22):
  two class and learned that youcould do Reiki at a distance, I
  looked at my hands and I said, Ithink I'm making this up.
  Even though I had healed myselfwith Reiki from, or I hadn't
  healed myself, Reiki had healedme with self sessions from
  debilitating health issues, eventhough my horses had Reiki, and
  
  (17:42):
  I could see very physicalevidence of.
  What Reiki did for them.
  I was ready to give it upbecause I thought that's not
  possible to do something to sendthis energy at a distance is not
  possible.
  So did you ever have any Ohyeah.
  
  (18:06):
  I, always considered thedistance sessions like second
  best If you can't come to myoffice, we could do a distance
  session.
  Probably because I love touchingand I love being with people.
  But when Covid forced me to, doall of my sessions distantly I,
  
  (18:28):
  found that their act to me,they're better.
  Yes.
  Because the, I don't know ifit's because the client is at
  home and they, relax more, ormaybe I'm just noticing things
  more.
  I'm, really easily distracted,squirrel, but because I'm just
  sitting there and just.
  
  (18:49):
  Deeply connected and I'm I'maware of quantum physics and
  that there really is no suchthing as space and time, in
  space.
  I kind, but then there's,something probably about that
  from our academic training alsogoing But how could this be
  
  (19:09):
  okay?
  How could this possibly be?
  But I've had so many experienceswhere there's no other way to
  explain what.
  You know what I pick up or what,they feel, or that they're you
  can hear the change in theirbreathing or, they'll just
  volunteer Wow, something, just,something just jerked or
  
  (19:31):
  something.
  Just that, and I felt it in,It's just amazing.
  And the, benefit, you can hearthe change in their voice.
  Yes.
  I hear the change in their voicefrom like tension and stress to
  like harmony and health by, fromthe beginning to the end of the
  session.
  But so distance sessions are.
  
  (19:52):
  Yeah, I think they're powerful.
  Yeah, they really are.
  But I, and I don't know, thepeople who were doubtful about
  it, then they're like, No, I, nothis love this.
  You know what I, what happenedwith me when, and I almost gave
  up Reiki, which I think goodnessfor, with all the blessings that
  
  (20:13):
  Reiki has brought into my lifeand all the beautiful people
  that it's brought into my life,I just thank goodness that I
  didn't give up Reiki.
  But I'm a researcher.
  I'm a, I'm always looking foranswer.
  And I thought, I don't I, waslike, immediately after my Reiki
  level one, my level two class, Istopped doing Reiki for about a
  
  (20:35):
  week.
  As I was trying to get my headto sort out the possibility of
  this distance thing that Ididn't believe in.
  And And I thought okay.
  And I felt miserable cuz I wasdoing, I was used to doing Reiki
  for a couple of hours for myselfevery day.
  Like I was just very loved doingReiki.
  
  (20:58):
  And so I spent a lot of time inthe energy.
  And so a week of not doing Reikiwas torture.
  And in the meantime, as I wasn'tdoing Reiki, I started doing
  tons of research.
  And I finally happened uponsomeone who said, You're not
  going to understand how distanceReiki works because it's not
  
  (21:20):
  linear and the human brain tendsto like things to be linear.
  And I said, Okay, I understandthat.
  And what she said was instead ofwasting your time trying to
  figure out how it works, whydon't you try it?
  And.
  If it works.
  And I thought, Oh, as ascientist, I can get behind
  
  (21:43):
  that.
  That's one way to do anexperiment, of course.
  And so I tried it and I hadabsolutely phenomenal results
  and feedback both of, whathappened.
  And so thankfully that helped mestick with Reiki.
  And then I did a lot moreresearch and I found, wow, this
  really does follow a lot ofEinstein's work and a lot of
  
  (22:09):
  some of the higher level physicswork that is out there.
  It really is supportedscientifically as well.
  I started doing distancesessions only.
  during Covid as well.
  But prior to that I had alreadybeen shifting quite a bit to
  
  (22:30):
  just distance sessions.
  And what I was finding is thatmy practice was getting busier
  and that when you have peoplecoming into your house and out
  of, and out, it was reallydifficult to keep an hour
  session to an hour or an hourand a half session to an hour
  and a half.
  They were always bleeding overand, then I was late for my next
  
  (22:53):
  session and people were, and itwas always a bit complicated and
  but.
  I'm an intuitive empath and whatI discovered, and I don't know
  if this is for you, but too, butmy distance sessions were more
  powerful, not as powerful, morepowerful than my in person
  
  (23:14):
  sessions.
  And I have a theory I don't knowif it's correct, but I think
  it's because when I am in personwith a client I, get a little
  muddled in the energy and yetwhen I'm have them on the phone
  
  (23:35):
  and I like to be connected withthem too, so I use the phone or
  zoom and when I have them on thephone, there's enough distance
  that I don't get confused withthe energy.
  I can see with perfect claritywhat needs to be done, and then
  the energy just gets in and doesit.
  So for me and, I also feel thatmy clients are able to be more
  
  (23:56):
  comfortable and something.
  They have a lower environmentalimpact too.
  This is true.
  That's right.
  Yeah.
  People don't have to drivethere.
  And and that's, a good pointtoo, because sometimes people
  they're trying to get there ontime and in traffic you have
  more factors that can mess up.
  You arriving on time and theywould come in just so stressed.
  
  (24:19):
  Coming, doing a session wherethey're at home it eliminates
  that stress and better with theenvironment as you're saying.
  But it eliminates that.
  And it seems like they're,primed and ready to receive and
  it just they, just go oof rightinto that, that state really
  quickly.
  I agree.
  A distance session is reallypowerful and there are several
  
  (24:44):
  ways to do distance sessions.
  Why don't you tell us about howto do a distance session that
  would be like a hands onsession.
  So I use I have a stuffedanimal, but really I just use a
  little pillow.
  Yeah.
  I just use a little narrowpillow and use it as a proxy.
  
  (25:04):
  But it's, as far as what I doit's, exactly the same as far as
  a quick chat at the beginning,like to check in if it's a
  repeat client okay, so like lasttime we were working on this and
  let me scan, see how you'refeeling.
  And there'll be a little chitchat at the beginning and, then
  at the end.
  But it's, pretty, pretty quietthat way unless I'm doing like
  
  (25:27):
  a, holy fire healing session.
  Tell us about that.
  And we're gonna try, we're gonnado one of those today.
  And Holy Fire Healing sessionstyle is how I do all of my
  distance sessions.
  Yeah.
  So where, you get you involvethe client.
  So one thing about a Reikisession is we've talked, I think
  
  (25:49):
  before in, in the previouspodcast, that Reiki does not go
  where it's not wanted but if youcan help get the client more
  like in to set their intentionand to participate in their own
  healing that, I think that's animportant part of Reiki is to
  for, people to realize just byshowing up for Reiki session
  
  (26:12):
  that you're already saying I, amI'm, in trouble or I need help.
  So you're open there, but whenthe holy fire healing
  experience, for example, you canhelp the, person zero in on what
  it is and help them takeresponsibility for their own
  
  (26:34):
  healing.
  It's not just Because sometimesI have had clients where they're
  like, Oh oh, I'm stressed.
  Like I have to go to Karen whichis great and a lot.
  But a lot of times I'll tell'emlike, You need to take a class
  so you can do this.
  But even if they are a repeatclient what's going on with you?
  What are you, willing to let goof?
  
  (26:55):
  What do you think it is that'scausing this?
  Or to they're, they are it's apartnership.
  It really between thepractitioner and the Reiki and
  the client.
  Yeah.
  And I think, and you, talkedabout taking ownership and I
  think you're right, Likesomething like the holy fire
  healing experience empowers theclient.
  
  (27:17):
  Yeah.
  And it's not you coming to me soI can heal you.
  Us healing us provide, gettingyou in the space.
  The Reiki can provide thehealing energy you need, and you
  are an equal participant in it.
  And yes, because we wannaempower.
  That's a big part of what Reikiis.
  It's not, it's helping peopleget clear, literally, like
  
  (27:41):
  clearing their energy, but butalso like clear about like, how
  did I get here a little bit to,so that once you clear a
  blockage and the, energy'sflowing you want them to,
  usually the discussion is aroundI wonder what I wonder what,
  
  (28:01):
  what could be going on in here?
  Why do you think I'm feelingthis.
  And then the, and it gets themto reflecting about their life
  and like how they can, how theymight be able to do things
  differently.
  Because, yeah, I guess I ofcourse I love my business, but
  ideally we wanna help ourclients.
  Become self and better and get,yeah, get, get more on track so
  
  (28:23):
  that they don't have to come,ideally they don't have to come,
  or if they're coming, it's justfor maintenance to get a, clear
  off of whatever was going onthis month.
  Like how often do you recommendfor people to get a session?
  That's a really good questionand one of the things I tell my
  clients is that I get a Reikisession from somebody else at
  
  (28:47):
  least once a month at least, andI just find for my own energy, I
  am an, I am empathic.
  I sometimes do pick up stufffrom others, and it's just
  lovely to get a little bit ofassistance from somebody to get
  that clear.
  What I find that does for me,once a month, getting a session,
  
  (29:08):
  and I do myself sessions.
  So once you have Reiki, ideally,and you talked about this, Karen
  a Reiki session is a great wayto experience Reiki and see what
  it is and see if it resonateswith you and see if you like it.
  And and then if you do like it,ideally we like to see our
  
  (29:30):
  clients come and do a class sothat they can do their own
  healing and don't need to relyon us.
  And, yet many of those clientswill still maybe book a session
  with us every few weeks or everymonth or once a quarter.
  And I find that, my.
  That do that, that have aregular, some clients find once
  
  (29:52):
  a month is right for them.
  Some find once every two months,some find once a quarter, some
  find once a week, and some findonce every two, you know where
  they are.
  Depend on where they're, I'vegot one client who's just such a
  strong empath and she works inthe public and we find that
  really we need to see each otherevery three weeks or she gets in
  over her head.
  And but I find that if you arepreemptive, if you do book
  
  (30:17):
  regular sessions and self careand you value yourself enough to
  do that, that you don't have tomove into crisis.
  Like that's why I go once amonth because I find that it
  just keeps me.
  On in a beautiful flow with theenergy that, that keeps things
  
  (30:39):
  effortless.
  And, sometimes if I can't get mysession in, I may find things
  get a little more difficult.
  So that's what I do.
  What do you recommend I'mlistening to you and I'm
  recommending to myself I need tomake sure that I get my Reiki
  sessions from other people, cuzI don't do that regularly
  
  (30:59):
  enough.
  But with, I, I do it just on anindividual basis, just based on.
  The client is feeling and cuzit's, it depends on where they
  are mentally, physically howdense the stuff is.
  Sometimes people come to mewhen, after they already have
  
  (31:21):
  cancer and, so we'll set up likeweekly sessions.
  I had a, woman in Oklahoma thatwe did weekly sessions because
  she was recovering from cancer.
  So it just it, just varies howoften do weekly sessions with
  people, especially if they havelike a terminal diagnosis.
  
  (31:41):
  And with Reiki has been able toturn those diagnoses around
  with, weekly sessions.
  But we also, I don't know if youfind Karen, but one of the
  things that, that we sometimesrecommend is if you have a kind
  of a significant issue, youmight wanna do several
  treatments.
  In a row, like 3, 4, 5,whatever, until you can really
  
  (32:06):
  clear.
  That issue and that does seem tobe very effective as well.
  Have you found that too?
  Yeah.
  Yes.
  Yeah.
  What could a person expect topay for a Reiki session?
  Generally, like when I'mteaching my students It, they
  cost about the same as a massagein your area.
  
  (32:28):
  That's what I tell them to useas a gauge.
  And so the other thing aboutdistance sessions, I have
  clients from California becausein California a Reiki session is
  150 hundred$75 per session.
  I charge a hundred cause I livein Arkansas.
  There you go.
  So for my clients in California,they're like, Whoa, you're cheap
  
  (32:51):
  But in Arkansas, that's what amassage cost even 80 to hundred,
  I chose hundred 20, but it'sCanadian, so it's probably two
  bucks.
  No kidding.
  It's about the same as amassage.
  So it's Yeah.
  And that, yeah.
  And that is very, typical aswell.
  
  (33:14):
  And Different practitioners havedifferent styles.
  And so if you try a Reikisession with somebody and it
  just, I don't know it didn't,you didn't love it, It's not a
  bad idea to try somebody else.
  And also everybody's energyfeels a little bit different.
  And I was explaining to my classtoday, I was like, Yeah, so some
  
  (33:37):
  people have really hot hands andI really like those.
  And I went, Oh, and somepeople's energy is really soft
  and sweet, and I really likethat.
  And they started laughing at meand I said, And I really like
  everything in between Yeah.
  I have never had a Reiki sessionthat I didn't love And sometimes
  
  (33:59):
  I, adjust to clients too, butlike some clients.
  Like, when I did in personsessions, most of the time I was
  in a, an office where there wereother people like maybe
  financial advisors and attorneysand I had this little office
  there.
  And so I would play music partlyjust to drown that out.
  
  (34:19):
  But then some people were likecan we just have quiet?
  That's the other thing about adistant session is people can
  just be quiet or they can playtheir own music because
  sometimes the music I like myfriend used to say, it's like,
  what is that, wind chime stuff?
  Turn that off.
  
  (34:40):
  I love Native American flutes.
  And I have a friend used, it'sjust like, Oh gosh, that just
  all sounds the same.
  That's just getting on my lastnerve.
  I'm like, really?
  I thought it was really nice.
  Some, practitioners use music,some don't.
  Yeah.
  Yeah.
  So yeah, if you have a, I wouldsay if you have.
  An experience with a Reikisession where you're like yeah,
  
  (35:03):
  maybe ask some questions whenyou book the next one, book
  somebody else and ask somequestions.
  Yeah.
  Some questions to ask do youusually do hands on, Hands off?
  Do you play music?
  Is it only do distance I wannaswing back.
  Karen, you were saying aboutdistance sessions, that you
  
  (35:25):
  usually do yours on the phoneand such, and I do too, but
  sometimes if I'm working withsomebody in Asia or another part
  of the world, sometimes theirconnection is not stable.
  And so they'll actually justtext me, Hey, can you do this,
  and this?
  And you know what?
  Those sessions have been reallypowerful too.
  So I typically like to beconnected, but it's not always
  
  (35:45):
  possible.
  That's true.
  It still works.
  Oh, and you know what else I,also have another client, I'm
  sorry, we talk at the beginningand she says, I know I'm gonna
  fall asleep, so let's hang up.
  You do the session and send menotes.
  Oh yeah.
  That I don't want you to I'llsee what note, what you say in
  
  (36:06):
  the notes, but I, know I'm gonnafall asleep and I don't want you
  to wake me up.
  That's, a very good way to do itand to know what you like.
  And something, I have clientsthat it just feels like when our
  session time is up, that they'reso comfortable in the energy
  that they're meant to stay init.
  And usually we come back and wedebrief, but in those instances,
  
  (36:30):
  I'll say to my client, Do youwanna stay in the energy today?
  And inevitably they'll just go,Yes.
  And so I'll say, Great, I'll seeyou at our next session.
  And I hang up and I do have, Idon't have a lot of one-offs.
  I, do have a lot of people thatcome for repeat sessions.
  Yeah.
  
  (36:51):
  So that's really neat too.
  What are some of the otherquestions people have?
  Oh what are some of the sideeffects of Reiki?
  Oh is I sleep really good sleep,happiness, peace does Reiki have
  any side effects?
  You know what, sometimes asenergies are clearing out, it
  
  (37:15):
  can feel uncomfortable.
  And even you were talking aboutthe woman that didn't like the
  flute music.
  I had somebody in class todaywho's Ooh, I found the music a
  little jarring.
  And I said, Oh, isn't thatfunny?
  That's the music that WilliamRand believes we uses for every
  placement because it's got areally it's got the frequency of
  
  (37:38):
  God in it.
  And Julie, true music to volumeone.
  And and, then I said, You knowsomething though, sometimes
  we're supposed to be a littlejarred because it brings the
  Energy's up to the surface.
  And recently in a class,somebody got a distressing phone
  
  (38:01):
  call and she couldn't get offthe phone and we were trying to
  get the class started and wewere ready to go into our
  ignition style attunement.
  And I, let her know cuz I wasassisting, William last week in
  New York to teach a Kaurna Reikiclass, William Rand.
  And she was so upset when shecame in just at the start of the
  
  (38:23):
  ignition and I just stopped herfor a minute and I said,
  Sometimes it's a really goodthing for you to be upset like
  this cuz it's gonna shake stuffup to the surface to be
  released.
  And she just went, Oh my gosh,thank you.
  And she went on and had awonderful experience.
  So usually it's very comfortableand very beautiful, but
  
  (38:45):
  occasionally, It can be a littleuncomfortable as energies shift
  and move out.
  Do you find that too?
  Yeah.
  And this holy fire I think issuch.
  Maybe a higher frequency orwhat?
  It's gentler it seems like, butI noticed a difference in how
  clients would respond.
  
  (39:07):
  Sometimes what you're talkingabout.
  Sometimes I would tell clientswhen I did do soy Tibetan if
  you're clearing a lotenergetically, you may find
  this, You're like runny nose orrunny something else, for a day
  or two, but I've noticed thatwith the holy fire, I don't
  think I have that as much.
  Not as many side effects.
  Yeah.
  
  (39:27):
  And people usually they, oneside effect besides falling
  asleep is they get up and theysay, I feel light.
  I feel like just lighter andyounger people say, I feel like
  a kid.
  Sometimes they look different.
  You look younger.
  It's amazing.
  They visibly you look at themand you're like, that person
  
  (39:48):
  looks 10 years younger than theylooked 45 minutes ago.
  I have a student because shegets permission and post them on
  Facebook.
  But she takes before and afterpictures of her clients and post
  them on social media.
  But I follow her on social mediaand every time I'm like what?
  I'm like, I can't believe thatthey let her do that And there's
  just, but there's just like thebefore and after is.
  
  (40:11):
  It's, amazing.
  So I don't know what you Karen,but when I started doing my own
  Reiki when I I actually, when Istarted doing Reiki, I had a
  pretty significant health issue.
  And I went for a Reiki sessionevery two weeks.
  And I did that for about sixmonths.
  Every two weeks we discovered itwas one of my writing students,
  
  (40:33):
  and we discovered that shecharged for a Reiki session.
  What I charged for two lessons.
  So we traded and I could affordthat way.
  I was a little, I didn't have alot of money at the time, and I
  could afford to go every twoweeks by trading her writing
  lessons.
  And so I did, I went every twoweeks for six months.
  But then after I studied Reikiand started doing myself
  
  (40:56):
  treatments every day peoplestarted coming up to me and
  saying, Don't be offended, butyou look 10 or 15 or 20 years
  younger.
  Then you used to look and youjust look so much better and
  the, I don't know, the skincleared up, like everything
  Yeah.
  Yeah.
  So the, I, yeah, those are allkinds of positive side effects.
  
  (41:21):
  there's a lot of positive sideeffects and, occasionally a
  little bit of discomfort.
  Now, I don't know if you foundthis, but after I learned animal
  Reiki, my sessions got moreefficient and I was able, That's
  true because I always use, I useanimal Reiki even on people.
  People are animals and Yeah,people are animals.
  And And I guess we'll talk aboutan animal session when we talk
  
  (41:45):
  about the animal Reiki, butyeah, we're gonna do a whole
  podcast about animal Reiki, youguys, so you can learn what it
  is and, what to expect.
  I know I, do regular sessions onmy brother and I didn't tell him
  after I'd gotten the I took itfrom you, the animal Reiki
  master class.
  
  (42:05):
  And so we usually did on Tuesdaynights.
  And so I did a session on mybrother and I said he said, So
  how you feel?
  And he goes, He said, I don't, Ifeel like I can't pick my arms
  up off the bed.
  I feel like he said, Why?
  He said, But he didn't know Ihad used the animal Reiki in
  that time, but he said, I justfeel like I said really
  
  (42:26):
  grounded.
  He said, Yeah.
  He said it was.
  Heavy instead of light, but heneeded the grounding because he
  had a lot going on.
  Yeah, I found my sessionsshorter because they just got so
  efficient and so I didn't haveto charge people as much and it
  worked out really well.
  
  (42:46):
  Yeah, I loved it.
  How does somebody find the rightpractitioner for them?
  I would encourage people to totalk on the phone, or I think
  both of us also have a it'sabout classes chat, follow them
  on social media, look and see,But even just a quick phone call
  
  (43:10):
  yeah, I was thinking about doinga Reiki session.
  And you'll be able to connectand just feel ask them where
  they did their training, Askthem what a session is like.
  Ask them.
  I guess that's, the main thing,like what's easy?
  
  (43:31):
  How much is it?
  But just the voice, you shouldbe able to, see if you resonate
  with this person or not.
  That's right.
  And a lot of people can, evenjust checking out a website and
  looking at somebody's photo, alot of people often can feel an
  energy in the photo and knowwhether they want to work with a
  person or not.
  And I don't know.
  
  (43:51):
  You and I, do a, free 15 minuteconsultation with people that
  they can book in my calendar ifthey have questions about rape.
  Yeah, I do too.
  And because yeah, that's, Andthen they can a session at a
  hundred dollars, that's a lot ofmoney to spent for me, It's
  like, what if you go Yeah, itcan be.
  
  (44:14):
  And so it's just an opportunityto to talk to somebody and see
  if you resonate with them.
  And another thing to do is justnow it's so lovely because of
  the distance sessions being soeasily accessible, you can work
  with a really Highly trainedReiki master from across the
  country or from a differentcontent.
  
  (44:34):
  Yeah.
  You probably will.
  You said you can tell from thevoice and, people tell me all
  the time that I heard your voiceand I knew you, or I saw your
  picture.
  Yeah, From my teacher and or mypractitioner or, whatever.
  You can also use recommendationslike word of mouth.
  You can also ask Your friendgroup, almost everybody knows
  
  (44:58):
  somebody who's a Reikipractitioner.
  And even just asking Hey, doesanybody go to a Reiki
  practitioner?
  And who do you recommend?
  And most people find me thatthey just Google Reiki near me.
  And then I've got some reviewson Google and some reviews on
  Facebook and it pops up andapparently I, mine is my Google
  
  (45:21):
  is like not working at all Some, if they do Reiki near me,
  but my daughter's gonna try tohelp me fix that.
  And you never can tell.
  I think, honestly, I think thatjust connecting with the person
  will, because it's a.
  
  (45:43):
  Like a massage.
  Yeah.
  But in some ways I think this iseven more, I feel more
  vulnerable with Reiki cuz it'snot just it's have all my
  clothes on, but they're like inmy energy fields, yeah.
  Yeah, they're, And I have trustissues.
  Yeah.
  And Reiki works like, whereas amassage is more physical, Reiki
  
  (46:05):
  works mentally, physically,spiritually, and emotionally.
  So I think what you're saying isthey're gonna be going deep into
  some of these layers and I wannafeel comfortable with the
  person, yeah.
  And you will too.
  So just I, would really juststrongly or just give, see if
  you can talk with them on thephone or, schedule like a,
  
  (46:27):
  discovery call.
  Yeah.
  Or even an email.
  Like I have some people who saidOh, your email back to me was so
  sweet that I knew I had to workwith you or whatever.
  Yeah.
  Or I get a lot of clients andstudents from Instagram, they'll
  just Instagram message me yeah.
  
  (46:48):
  That's lovely.
  So there's all these ways to,just check out and just feel
  into something you might like towork with.
  And one last thing, Karen,before we go into having people
  experience this themselves.
  If you already have Reiki.
  
  (47:09):
  There's self sessions.
  Let's talk for a minute aboutthat.
  So once you do a Reiki level oneclass, your hands have Reiki,
  Reiki flows through them.
  And so one of the most importantthings you can do with that is
  to give yourself a Reiki sessionevery day.
  And there's just all kinds ofdifferent ways that you can do
  
  (47:30):
  that.
  And we, recommend every day, andit's, often something that you
  might do at the same time eachday, but what do you do for a
  self session and, how do you fitthat into your day?
  I always do one before I go tosleep.
  
  (47:52):
  And usually fall asleep before Ican get through the whole thing
  to, I start at depends if, I'vehad a really stressful day,
  sometimes I just put my hand,one hand on my, chest on my
  heart and one, like on my bellyand just fall asleep, giving
  myself Reiki that way.
  But most of the time I can, Istart my day with Reiki as well
  
  (48:13):
  and it, gives me a way to chargeup if you will.
  Before I go out and face theday.
  Sorry, I'm holding my cat.
  If you're listening, That's,Can't see that I'm holding my
  cat.
  This is my cat is actuallyattuned to Reiki and is giving
  me Reiki now.
  
  (48:33):
  And is Sam I am Sam.
  I am, yes.
  Are you gonna send Reiki toeverybody?
  Go ahead.
  You can send Reiki, but yeah,generally it's, there's short
  sessions, maybe 15, 20 minutesand.
  But then if I'm like sitting ina meeting on Zoom, you can
  guarantee I'm giving myselfReiki, like watching television,
  
  (48:56):
  watching a movie, watchtelevision.
  Yeah.
  I'm doing Reiki when I'mdriving.
  Yeah.
  Riding my horse.
  Yeah.
  Reiki.
  Yeah, one of the things I loveto do is activate the symbols in
  the morning and there, then Ijust ask them to be with me for
  the whole day, and I ask thesymbols to go out ahead of my
  
  (49:18):
  day and just prepare things forme so that I just have to show
  up and it, it, makes things alot more effortless, but really
  once you have a Reiki class,then you can do your own
  session.
  And even still though, it isstill nice to get a treat, even
  when you have Reiki, it's stillnice to get a treatment from
  
  (49:39):
  somebody else once in a while.
  Absolutely.
  Yeah.
  Karen, I think we're ready.
  Is there anything else that,anything we missed or, No, I
  think that's, that.
  Probably about it.
  Okay.
  Yeah, I think, yeah, Samprobably showed up because he
  knows we're about to do a firehealing experience.
  He always shows up for theenergy.
  
  (50:00):
  So what I'd like to do is leadyou all through a holy fire
  healing experience today so thatyou can get an actual session
  from us, from Karen and I willboth be sending our Reiki energy
  to you today through thispodcast, no matter when you
  listen to it.
  We use the distance symbol sothat all of the meditations in
  the podcast happen in real timefor you so that you receive the
  
  (50:24):
  energy with any of themeditations in the podcast.
  So this healing experience willwork for.
  No matter when you listen andyou can listen to it as often as
  you'd like, but I'd like to leadyou through a typical holy fire
  healing experience.
  And I know that with my distancesessions I have become very
  
  (50:50):
  adept at listening to Reikiguidance.
  And so I tend to offer thesesometimes become personalized to
  my clients.
  They often do.
  The first session might be aholy fire healing experience,
  and after that, the meditationis normally individual for the
  client based on what I'm hearingcome in.
  
  (51:11):
  But this would be how we wouldprobably begin our sessions.
  So I'd like you to think of anenergy that you'd like to
  release from your life or goalthat you would like to achieve.
  And just to be aware that ifthere's a goal you would like to
  achieve but you haven't beenable to achieve it, there's
  
  (51:34):
  probably a block or an obstacle,a block of energy that's getting
  in the way of that.
  So in both of these cases, weare letting go of an energy that
  is holding you back in one formor another.
  And so once you have somethingin mind that you'd like to heal
  today or to empower, I'd likeyou to think about it and to
  
  (52:01):
  close your eyes and justmeditate on the issue that
  you're working on or the goalthat you're empowering.
  And I'd like you to think toyourself.
  If the obstacle that'spreventing me from accomplishing
  my goal or the energy I wish torelease, if that energy exists
  
  (52:24):
  in a part of my body, wherewould it be?
  And you just take the firstthing that you think of, even if
  it doesn't make any sense, thefirst place in your body that
  comes up.
  And there's no wrong answer.
  You can't make a mistake onthis.
  Okay?
  So just think to yourself, ifthe original cause of this issue
  
  (52:47):
  existed in my body, where wouldit be?
  And then I'd like to ask you ifthe original cause of this issue
  had to shape, what shape wouldit have?
  And it's usually just the veryfirst shape you think of when I
  say that before you second guessit or overthink it.
  
  (53:08):
  What's the very first shape?
  that comes to your mind.
  And it doesn't have to be asolid shape.
  It might be a moving energy, orit might be a blob or a cloud.
  Just whatever comes to yourmind.
  And if this energy had a color,what color would it be?
  
  (53:31):
  What's the first color that youthink of?
  If it could make a sound, whatsound would it make?
  If it had a temperature, whatwould it be?
  
  (53:53):
  Would it be hot or cold or bodytemperature?
  And if you were to run your handalong the surface of this
  energy, what would the surfacetexture be like?
  Would it be rough or smooth orbumpy?
  Slick.
  
  (54:16):
  And the final question that Ilike to ask is, would you be
  willing to let this energy gocompletely today?
  And if your answer is yes, we'llbegin.
  And if it's no, just pause therecording and just give a little
  thought to why you might notwant to let that go.
  
  (54:44):
  And so I invite you to closeyour eyes now.
  This is the Holy Fire healingexperience.
  And just take a deep breath andyou can place your hands
  comfortably on your body if youwish, and I invite you to
  imagine that it's a beautiful,warm, sunny day.
  
  (55:08):
  and that you're walking througha trail in a beautiful forest.
  And as you walk along and as youbreathe into yourself, you
  breathe in the life essence ofthe forest.
  And with each step that youtake, the energy of the earth
  flows up through the bottoms ofyour feet.
  
  (55:36):
  And as you continue to walkalong, you notice that the trail
  up ahead goes off to the leftand you decide to follow that
  trail to the left.
  You follow that trail until youcome to a clearing in the
  forest.
  
  (55:56):
  And in the middle of theclearing is a small hill covered
  with soft grass and beautifulwildflowers.
  Imagine that you're climbing upthe hill and that as you do, you
  can feel the grass and thewildflowers brushing against
  
  (56:18):
  your legs.
  When you get to the top of thehill, I invite you to lie down,
  and as you do, you can feel thegrass and the earth beneath your
  body as you gaze up into thesky, gazing up at the sky, a
  
  (56:43):
  beautiful beam of light piercesthe clouds and shines down
  directly upon you and all aroundyou.
  It makes you feel very safe andwarm, protected, and loved.
  
  (57:06):
  This beam of light seems to flowthrough you and around you.
  The beam of light begins tofocus on that shape that you
  have identified.
  
  (57:27):
  I invite you to focus on theshape yourself and simply be
  willing to let it go.
  You don't need to do anything toearn this.
  The Reiki energy comes fromgrace, which means it is a gift
  freely given, and so yourwillingness to let it go is
  
  (57:52):
  enough, and we'll spend just afew minutes.
  
  (58:24):
  And now the beautiful beam ofReiki energy that comes from the
  highest heaven directly fromsource, begins to guide you.
  I invite you to follow theguidance and we'll stay here for
  several minutes.
  
  (01:01:04):
  Yeah.
  
  (01:03:00):
  And I'd like to invite you tostay in this energy and in this
  experience, as long as you feelguided, when you are ready, you
  can return.
  
  (01:03:27):
  Although some folks are still inthe experience often.
  At the end of this, we askpeople if there's been any
  change in the shape, and one ofthe things that I like to ask is
  if you look into that shape andask what percentage of it
  remains, what's the very firstnumber you think of, between
  
  (01:03:49):
  zero and a hundred?
  And what that tells me iswhether it's going to take
  another session for it to clearor whether it's already cleared.
  And when a client tells me thatthey've got 30% or less,
  typically by the following day,that shape has and the original
  
  (01:04:11):
  cause of the issue has clearedcompletely.
  If they have more than that, Iinvite them to listen again to
  the recorded meditation as longas they need.
  And if they find that's notenough I invite them to.
  
  (01:04:32):
  Another session or, as theywish.
  And sometimes a client will say,gosh, the blue square is gone,
  but now there's a yellowtriangle.
  And when that happens, I knowthat we cleared one of the
  original causes of the issue,but there is more than one.
  
  (01:04:53):
  So when they get a completelydifferent shape when they look
  into that area, then I know, oh,we had better book another
  session to work on that nextshape.
  And Karen, I have found this hascleared really significant
  
  (01:05:13):
  issues for people from terminalcancer to sexual abuse, to
  trauma, to to you name it, toobstacles that have prevented
  them from accomplishing thingsthey wanted in their life and.
  I don't know if there's anythingyou'd like to add.
  
  (01:05:34):
  Oh, I found the same.
  And it's it is a good way to, tostart a session.
  Opens them up for healing of,all the other things.
  Cuz usually there is one deepthing that's almost like pulling
  the stopper out to get thingsmoving.
  
  (01:05:55):
  Yeah.
  So I hope that the listenerswere able to release.
