Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's Alex from Remote Work Life, and welcome to
another episode.
These episodes are dedicated togiving you quick tips based on
my own experiences working on aremote basis and from interviews
that I've had with other remotework experts, ceos and leaders.
So I hope you're getting somevalue from these episodes, and

(00:24):
if you want to get in touch tolet me know about things that
you want to hear about, thenplease, by our means, do that.
But in today's episode, we'regoing to talk about creating a
routine, a morning routine tostart the day on a positive note
.
Now, routine is an importantpart of remote work, for me at

(00:46):
least, anyway.
Having a routine, having arhythm in the day to get the
work done that I need to getdone, but also to take the
breaks that I need to take andeat the meals that I need to eat
, is something that is hasbecome, I suppose, customary.

(01:07):
For me, it's not always been thecase.
I transitioned to remote workback in 2008, 2009, and I
struggled.
I have to admit I struggledwith starting on a positive note
.
I just threw myself straightinto work, didn't necessarily
have a routine that I stuck to,and I had to make a conscious

(01:29):
effort to make a routine, tomake a morning routine, and at
that particular point it wasmore about exercise, it was just
about having a nutritiousbreakfast, deliberately having
nutritious breakfast.
That was part of my routine andthat had to be again.
It had to be intentional.

(01:50):
My routine has changed somewhatnow since I've had a family,
started a family.
One of the big parts of mymorning routine, at least anyway
, is getting the kids ready forschool and taking them on a
school run.
Another part of my routine maybe saying a prayer in the

(02:12):
morning with my wife as well.
So, yeah, I've incorporatedthings that are positive for me
for my morning routine, and Ihave to say, I have to admit
that I didn't always appreciatethe value of being able to take
my kids to school as part of myroutine, and there was a point
where I took it for granted, andit wasn't until I went back

(02:36):
into the office and I couldn'ttake my kids to school that I
realized the value and thepositivity that stemmed from the
school run.
So, yeah, just something that Ihad to think about.
But here are a few tips for you.
These are not necessarily allthings that I do, but things
that I've learned, things thatother people that I know do in

(03:00):
order to start off the day on apositive note.
So one of those things isexercise.
So tip number one is exercise.
So incorporating physicalactivity into your morning
routine, such as a short workoutor a morning walk to energize
your body, get out in the opento start the day on a good note.
That's number one.

(03:20):
You might want to do that.
Number two, again, notsomething that I do, but
mindfulness practice.
So engaging in mindfulnesspractices such as meditation,
deep breathing, journaling, gratitude journaling to promote
mental clarity and a positivemindset, and in fact, journaling
is something that I've startedto do and something that's

(03:42):
really given me a positive startto the day.
And I don't want you to do itduring the, during the, in the
morning, I also do it in theevening.
So, number three you mightimplement a nutritious breakfast
, not just a bog standardbreakfast, but prioritizing a
nutritious breakfast thatprovides energy through the day.

(04:04):
So, you know, not just havingcarbs, you may have, you know,
add some nutritious fats to yourbreakfast, or whatever it may
be fiber fruits, for example, whole grains, lean proteins, et
cetera.
So nutritious breakfast is oneway of starting the day on a
positive note.
And number four, again notsomething that I necessarily

(04:25):
stick to, but wellness rituals, which means considering
incorporating wellness ritualsinto your morning routine, such
as a quick session of yoga, amorning stretch or a few minutes
of quiet reflection to rechargeyour energy.
So that's number four on thelist.

(04:48):
And number five on the list ispositive affirmations.
So starting the day withpositive affirmations and
intentions to set the tone for aproductive day.
And those positive affirmationsdon't necessarily, just
wouldn't necessarily just bewritten down.
You might speak them out intothe opens, that you can feel

(05:09):
good about what you're saying, and you can put it out into the
atmosphere and say it withintention.
So those are your five tipsfrom me, or five pointers from
me that you may use to takeforward in order to start your
day on a positive note.
Are there any other things thatyou can think of that could be
added to that list, or what doyou do to start your day on a

(05:34):
positive note?
