Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's Alex from Remote Work Life, and welcome to
today's episode of the RemoteWork Life podcast, and if you've
been following these podcastsor the Thursday podcast, that I
do I've been putting togethersome quick tips to hopefully
help you with different aspectsof your remote work.

(00:22):
So, whether that be looking fora job, whether that be your
general well-being, whether thatbe just an understanding of
remote work as a whole, I'm yourhost, alex Wilson-Camelon.
Today we're diving intosomething which I hope is going
to be a valuable tip if you'relooking for a job.
So, whether you're activelylooking for a new opportunity or
simply keeping your optionsopen, being ready to showcase

(00:46):
your specific accomplishmentsfrom your past work in detail is
really important.
So I want to explore this whyit's so important and how you
can effectively prepare to gothe extra mile for potential
employers.
To go the extra mile forpotential employers and this
matters if you're in the midstof job search it's crucial to be

(01:11):
able to articulate your pastachievements in a way that
resonates with hiring managers, and this is particularly the
case with remote job search.
So, by providing detailedexamples of your accomplishments
, you can actually demonstratethe value that you brought to
your previous roles and, moreimportantly, how you can
translate that to the potentialemployers in their organization.
So how can you prepare?

(01:32):
So what?
In order to effectively showcaseyour specific accomplishments,
you might want to consider these, these steps, not in any
particular order, but you wantto consider these steps.
First of all, I think what youneed to do is identify your key
achievements ahead of time.
I always recommend doing thisby looking at your CV.
In fact, I'd go a step back, Iwould say, as you achieve

(01:57):
certain things in the job thatyou're currently in.
For example, you want to make anote in a central area, whether
that be on a google doc or inyour journal.
So make a list, make a recordof all your achievements,
whether big or small.
So you want to.
So if you're, in the case, in asituation where you haven't done

(02:18):
that, you want to reflect onyour past work and pinpoint the
accomplishments that besthighlight your skills and your
expertise.
And then you want to quantifythat impact.
It's not good enough just towrite down what that particular
achievement was or thataccomplishment was.
Wherever possible, you want toquantify the impact of your

(02:38):
achievements, whether it's apercentage increase, a revenue
figure or time being saved, metric Numbers can make your
accomplishments more tangible, make them stand out a lot more.
And then you want to tell astory.
You want to craft a compellingnarrative around each of those
accomplishments, each of thoserelevant accomplishments that

(03:00):
you are going to essentiallypitch to the person who is that
you are going to essentiallypitch to the person who is
interviewing you or you're in ameeting with.
Explain the context, theactions that you took and the
results that you achieved.
A storytelling approach can makeyour examples more memorable.
So in practice, for exampleduring interviews, be prepared

(03:21):
to share detailed examples whenanswering especially behavioral
questions.
For instance, if you're askedabout a time when you overcame a
significant challenge, you candraw from your past experiences
and walk the interviewer throughthe specific steps that you
took and the positive outcomesthat you delivered.
By being ready to showcase yourspecific accomplishments in

(03:43):
detail, you can set yourselfapart as a candidate who's not
only has a track record ofsuccess, but also has the
ability to communicate thesuccess effectively.
Now it takes a lot ofpreparation, and this level of
preparation and articulation canleave a lasting impression on
potential employers andsignificantly strengthen your
case.
So I hope that's helped in someway.

(04:06):
As I said, preparation is key.
Thank you for listening today.
On today's episode, I reallywant to encourage you to take
time to reflect on your pastachievements.
In fact, go a step better, as Imentioned before, create a
record of your achievementsstarting today and start writing
them down, even if you're notlooking for a new role.
Start crafting detail, compelling examples that you can

(04:28):
leverage in your job search.
And remember youraccomplishments are some of your
most powerful assets in pursuitof new job opportunities,
especially remote jobopportunities.
So I want to really wish youall the best with your job
search and I look forward tohopefully sharing some more tips
that are hopefully valuable toyou in the near future.
All the best.
