Do you ever put something off too long? A lot of people procrastinate when it comes to retirement planning, too. Why is that? Today we talk through the reasons people put off retirement planning and how to overcome these hurdles.

You might say, “It worked out for my parents.” Comparing yourself to your parents or grandparents is dangerous. If something happens and you make a mistake, you might end up losing benefits or paying more in taxes. You can’t just go through retirement without a plan.  

When you get too much information or contradicting information, it might make you feel overwhelmed. Working with a fiduciary who works in your best interests will help. Make sure you find something you connect with and someone you trust with your money.

Does talking about money stress you out? Going through a planning process can help walk you through the things you aren’t thinking about. What are your goals in retirement? What will you do with your time? All of these questions will help go beyond dollar amounts and give a vision for the bigger picture.
