Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everybody to another episode of the Ride Home
Rants podcast.
This is, as always, your host, mike Bono.
I have a great episode set forus today.
We are going to be talkingabout all things music and music
related.
I'm a big fan of music,obviously.
You know.
Being a comedian, I havewalkout music that I come out to

(00:21):
on stage every time I perform.
I mix it up a little bit hereand there, but I got a great
panel of guests for us today.
We're going to talk about allof it.
But, guys, I'm going to letthem introduce themselves.
But when you introduceyourselves, I need your name,
how tall you are and whattemperature is your thermostat
set to in the wintertime whenyou go to bed.

(00:43):
And, marsco, we're going tostart with you.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yeah, I'm Chris Marisco, coach Jackson Milton,
the sheriff football coach inthe Mahoning Valley.
I'm 5'8".
According to my BMI, I'mextremely obese and because of
that my temperature is around 68in the winter.
I like to sleep cool at night.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
I'm with that.
The 68 degrees.
I can't be cool enough, but Iget the obese thing I'm going to
call.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
BS on for you there, Marcio.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
It's a topic for a different day.
And next on the list here, everybody's favorite roundtable
guest, Mr.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Mr, mr ASQ, from Cincinnati, ohio, aka the
Vampire Coast.
My temperature is set no higherthan 69 degrees and it can go
down, baby, to 62, 63.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
How tall are you?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
5'8", and it can go down, baby, to 62, 63.
How tall are you?
5'8" 5'8".

Speaker 1 (01:48):
See, Marshall, you were worried before we started
this.
5'9" and Nicole, we're going togo to you next.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
I'm Nicole Faith, originally from Hermitage,
Pennsylvania, moved to Columbus,Ohio, now in Sarasota, Florida.
I am a giant compared to theseguys, I guess, because I'm 5'6",
my thermostat temperature iscurrently set to 73, and I'm in
Florida, so I'm guessing crazyright.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
That's it for Florida .
That's hot, that's way too hot.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
It's actually chilly right now, but it's way better
than where you guys are.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah, absolutely, where we're at here in central
Ohio right now it's 46 degreesoutside, so you know it's warmer
than what we have been, butstill cold, and, last but not
least, right now, wendy.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Hi, I'm Wendy Kunash.
I'm from Cleveland, Ohio.
I probably should say downtownWilloughby, because that's
usually where I indicate I'mfrom.
I'm 5'8", just like the others, with exceptions to Nicole.
The thermostat is set on 70 atnight.

(03:08):
I will add this little bitbecause I think this is
important to know.
There are two fans on, there'sa heated blanket and then two
other comforters on top of thatfor me to go to sleep at 70
degrees I got I got you not madat that.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Uh, everybody knows me here, mike bono.
Um, I'm going to make everyonefeel really, really small right
now.
I am six foot five.
Um, I don't think.
Uh, when the wonderful managerof the podcast was coming up
with this question, he took intoconsideration my height and

(03:49):
everything here my temperature,my thermostat I have zero
control over because my wife isalways cold.
So in the wintertime, to go tosleep, we typically set it about
72, which is really hot for me.
Um, in the because in thesummertime I have it set to 62,

(04:11):
um, mainly because we can't haveodd temperatures or odd numbers
in anything.
So it's always set to an evennumber, um, but yeah, 72.
When we go to bed now, uh, butyeah, so I don't.
I don't typically sleep with ablanket because I don't need it
when it's at the 72.
So that's just me.

(04:33):
I'm always hot.
We will have one guest joiningus here a little bit later.
We'll get to her when she comeson here, but for right now
we're going to get rolling withthese panel of guests and, mr,
we're going to start with you.
And what is your favorite genreof music?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Man, I have to say probably mostly reggae.
I love, love reggae, reggae,salsa.
That's my go-to, that's my top.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
I got to say, mr, I was not expecting that to be
100%.
You got the rocker shades on.
I really did not expect thatout of you say reggae right now,
nicole.
What about you?

Speaker 4 (05:18):
I like a mix of a lot of genres.
It just depends on what moodI'm in, but typically right now
I've been going to um a littlebit more of like today's rock,
so a little bit of like breakingbenjamin five finger um,
especially when I'm in the gym.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
So that's kind of what I'm in right now I'm not
mad at that, but I don't know ifyou can consider five finger
and uh breaking benjamin'stoday's rock, uh, but all their
genre, like headbanging, I don'tknow like what do you?
know what?
You know what, really.
Okay, we'll get into thatbecause it brings up a point for

(05:56):
me.
I was um at a at a worktraining a couple weeks ago and
they just had pandora playingjust while everyone was getting
there before we started and Ilooked up at what they were
playing and it was playing dadrock and it was playing breaking
benjamin's uh, nickelback likeall the stuff I grew up
listening to is like oh, I feelso old right now when dad rock

(06:22):
that's all right, I listen todad rock.
There you go there you go,marsco.
What about you?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
so I'm kind of like nicole.
I really depends what mood I'min, what I'm doing.
Uh, I mean, I I go back as faras some like 50s and 60s, kind
of like motown and whatnot, allthe way up to, I don't't know,
big X, the Plug, a little rapcountry, frequent the early

(06:50):
2000s, 2010s, kind of growing up.
You know, music kind of takesyou back to a certain time, so
real diversified with that.
Right now I'm kind of into moreof a Motown area, little
temptations and whatnot, but Ireally bounce around, truthfully
okay, not mad at that wendyround us out here yeah, so I'm.

Speaker 6 (07:13):
I'm similar to nicole and chris, where I just love
all different types of genres.
Um, I'm really into the upbeatmixes right now, so it does
incorporate a little bit of thehouse and dance music, and the
chill vibes playlists areplaying for me right now, but I

(07:33):
think that's a little bit moreso the mood that I've been in
and also I got to go back to thereggae thing.
I have been on two reggaeplaylists for two weeks straight
.
I cannot get enough of it,morning and night.
So I am there with you on thereggae band.
Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I'm not bad at it.
I think it's a lost genre ofmusic that people don't listen
to a lot.
I found a band when I was incollege college and I don't even
know how to describe thembecause I mean, first of all
they're called skindred.
I mean the name just soundsweird, but it is uh, I guess you

(08:17):
would call it hard rock, butit's a reggae singer, oh, and
it's just.
It's this weird mix that works.
My wife absolutely hates it,but I love it.
It's, it's a great band.
I listen to them frequentlyagain with me.

(08:38):
With the genre of music, it justreally depends again on my mood
.
I listen to pretty muchanything.
Lately I've been on a countrykick, but typically when I am
listening to music I am in mytruck and my radio is set to 90s
on 9 on Sirius XM.
So anything 90s I think isgreat Era.

(08:59):
I grew up in music, I grew uplistening to, so it really takes
you back.
But yeah, a lot of uh, rock androll, and I grew up listening
to 80s hair metal, uh, with mydad.
So I always go back to that.
But lately it's been beencountry a lot uh for me and

(09:20):
oddly enough, when I, when Iwalk out on stage, I play
country music just to throw thecrowd for a loop, because nobody
plays country when they walk upon stage, and then I come out
with with country music.
So I really, I really think itsets the tone for my set, and
especially when they hear thatI'm the angry white comic and
then country music startsplaying.
So it just it's a fun clash forme playing.

(09:48):
So it just it's a fun clash forme.
Um, but, wendy, let's stay withyou on this one.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
And who is your favorite artist or band of all
time?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
oh, my favorite ah, oh, we're putting you on the
spot here.
We ask the tough questions yeah, you really are.

Speaker 6 (09:58):
I feel like we should have a favorite for every genre
.
I'm just saying, saying, but Iknow that that can't happen
right now.
So if I have to pick myabsolute number one, I am really
into Odessa.
O-d-e-z-a, that's going to bemy number one.

(10:19):
Yeah, odessa, that's who I'mlistening to quite a bit.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Okay, marsco, what about you?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
so I'll I kind of classify this as okay.
If I had to pick one artist fora road trip and just listen to
all their work.
Who am I putting on?
And if I'm thinking of in thatterms, I'm going to say the
eagles I just I kind of like the.
The pace of the music it's alittle slower, a little more
laid back.
Um, they have a wide variety, alot of hits, uh, a lot of

(10:53):
really good songs that are alittle less known, a lot of good
live performances At the LAForum.
That's got its own littlesection of their hits.
So I'd say the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Okay, not a bad choice.
Not a bad choice at all, nicole.
What about you?

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Again, it's so hard Because there's so many talented
artists and again it justdepends on what mood you're in
that strikes a chord.
But I'm going to go withsomebody that is in the country
world for you Bono.
And so I'll go with BrantleyGilbert, because he writes a lot

(11:33):
of his music and he has likefast beat but slow and so like a
lot of the songs talk about hissobriety, especially as like
first and second album.
So a lot of like deep songswith some great lyrics.
So I'll go with him.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
OK, not a bad choice.
I would love to with him.
Okay, not a bad choice, brett,I would love to see him in
concert.
It's one of the he's on mybucket list of people I want to
see in concerts.
That's great choice.
But, mr, what about you All?

Speaker 3 (12:03):
right when it comes to you know, like a group, I
gotta go with the hometown manBone Thugs-N man, bone thugs and
harmony, baby bone thugs andharmony all day long.
And then, uh, you know, forthat one, that one man is, you
know, tupac, you know that as my, you know saying all time, but

(12:26):
right behind them and this is nolie, this is, I mean, I have
plenty of these discs and music.
It's Beethoven, mozart, frederic Chopin, chopin, antonio
, any of them old classicalmasterpieces.
I listen to all that stuff, brian.
I will have listen.

(12:49):
I will have a playlist withTupac, bone Thug, harmony,
reggae, and then have 510,mozart and Beethoven playing
Corliss, maria Vieira.
I mean all that stuff goingright away, bro, right behind me
.
I'm telling you, man, no lie.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Not surprised in the slightest on that one, mr oh man
, for me I know you are that'swhat makes it even better for me
.
For me it's like everyone'sbeen saying it's tough.
For me.
It's like Wendy said For eachgenre there's a different person

(13:30):
for me, but who I listen to themost and can just put on their
album, their artist on Spotifyor anything like that, for me
it's Nickelback.
I can listen to all of theirstuff and I know there's going
to be a ton of people on thisthat just can't stand Nickelback
.
You're wrong First and foremost, they are amazing.

(13:59):
But Country Route Realm, bradleyGilbert's up there, cole
Swindell has been another onefor me that I've been listening
to a lot, but for you, mister,I'm going to keep it on that
because my playlist is all overthe place.
It'll go from Nickelback toSkindred, like I tell you, to

(14:21):
Five Figure Death Punch.
Frank Sinatra's in there, deanMartin as a Paisan, it's against
the rules for me not to havethose on my playlist, but it's
just something I can listen toall the time.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
You ain't got no Slayer going, no Slayer ACDC,
you know I have them in there.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Come on now.
I figured we weren't going totalk about the obvious.
I gotcha One band that I thinkthat doesn't get a lot of credit
, and I grew up with my oldersister.
She's a huge fan of them and Ijust grew up listening to them.
With them was the Beastie Boys.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Oh yes, you used to listen to them all the time,
dude.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Me and my sister listen to them constantly.
Every time we get to hang out,we have Beastie Boys on and it's
just.
It reminds us of growing up andit's just awesome to have.
But, mister, for you, whatgenre of music can't you stand?

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Oh man, I tell you what I am so, so wide open when
it comes to music, man.
I mean, I tell you what I am so, so wide open when it comes to
music, man, it's hard, I meanit's.
I can listen to almost anything, and especially, you know what
I'm saying On on road trips Um,that's a hard one.
I mean, that really is, I'm notlying, that's really is, cause

(15:51):
I can listen, I will, you know.
You know, on long road trip, myman, I can listen, I'm on.
You know, on long road trips,my man, I'll turn the station on
me, I'll just listen toBluegrass music or some country
music, man, you know Even theyou know what I'm saying the
fiddle, I mean all that type ofstuff, dude.
So it's, it's probably.
It's wide open.

(16:11):
Probably, I would say probablythe one, if there is one, is
probably that old, hard, hard, hard, hard.
You know what I'm saying?
Um, suicide, uh, rock and roll, you know what I'm saying?
That hard heavy metal, you knowthat hard, dirty heavy metal.
Man, you know, I get down, Iget down with slayer.

(16:32):
I'll listen to some Rain ofBlood.
You know what I'm saying.
I'll listen to all that stuff, dude.
You know ACDC, oh man, hey man, hey, want it Dead or Alive.
Oh, dude, that's on theplaylist.
All the time, bro, that'splaying, you can bet your dog
that you're going to hear that, you know.
Oh, and Slayer.

(16:52):
Oh yeah, you're going to hearSlayer.
You're going to hear Slayer.
Right, but you're going to hearSlayer.
And then you hear some LittleJohn, you know.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
We need to hang out more Mr.
Just so we can jam out.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
But yeah, later to a suicide yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Like you for this one .
I was just going to giveeveryone else a chance to mull
this over, because we're allpretty wide open, it seems like.
But that death metal that youcan't understand, they're
literally just screaming intothe microphone.
I can listen to some prettyheavy rock and some metal but,
like, if I can't understand youand what you're saying, I'm not

(17:34):
going to listen to the wholesong.
I mean, if you're doing itsparingly throughout the song,
ok, but if it's the whole thing,no, not, I'm turning it off
instantly.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
You know, they talk about sacrificing chickens and
cow heart, man, and you know, and trying to raise the third
devil, or something For sure,nicole.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
What about you though , man, and trying to raise the
third devil, or something.
Man, sure Nicole.
What about you, though?
What can't you stand?

Speaker 4 (17:59):
I'll save you time on it.
I'll agree with you guys, causeit was already in my head Heavy
metal scream.
Oh, can't do it yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, marsco, what about you?

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah, same as the calm.
We'll sit a lot of time on thisone.
Now.
This seems like that I wasanticipating this question, but
it's also the easiest for me.
I'm so wide open that that'shonestly like the screamo you
can't understand.
That's like the one I don't doand just like all you guys, like
I I love some heavy, uh, rockand roll.

(18:32):
I just when I, when I can'ttell what you're yelling, I'm
good, I'm turned off, yeahunderstandably wendy round us
out.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
I think I know where we're going with this one,
though oh my gosh, I was gonnasay the same thing.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
I was that scream on stuff that's not even human.
I don't know what's going on.
It's like exorcist is happening, you know.
But I gotta say, a close secondto that is polka, I can't, I
can't, I'm sorry, I just oh mybobby she's hurting I'm sorry
I'm sorry, I don't understand itand it's just.

(19:07):
maybe it's just me and I should, you know, kill my ignorance and
learn about it and embrace it.
But I have a hard time withthat.
I don't know if it's just fromall of the fairs my dad used to
drag me to when I was a child,or what.
No, can't even be around it.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
I didn't even think of that as an option.
Yeah, I don't even listen to it, so I never even thought of
that as a genre.
So yeah, uh, but uh, wendy, which artists have you seen in

(19:46):
concert and do you rememberwhere it was at?

Speaker 6 (19:49):
oh my gosh, I could tell you about every concert,
but the most memorable, I mean Igotta bring it up.
I love telling this story.
I've seen Kid Rock.
I've seen Motley Crue whichamazing, amazing to see live.
I even saw the Jonas Brothers.
It was incredible, amazingartists on the stage, that's.

(20:11):
I love seeing the live concerts, the live entertainment,
because just physically seeingthem is art in itself.
I saw Cypress Hill, which wasso long ago I'm dating myself,
but I also saw Lenny Kravitz onthis, and Aerosmith and Kid Rock

(20:36):
.
This was the most intenseblossom weekend ever.
The craziest part my seats wereso great that after the concert
Cypress Hill let me back up.
During the concert they werethrowing blunts into the
audience.
I'm not saying I participated, okay, but afterwards they came

(20:59):
off the stage as soon as theywere done and hung out with my
whole row of people that I waswith and actually were hitting
on my girlfriend and got herphone number.
I was like what is going onhere?
That we're smoking pot withCypress Hill and you guys are
changing numbers Like this isthe most craziest thing I've

(21:20):
ever experienced in my life.
Anyway, they called her andthey ended up hanging out a
couple of times, but that wasthe best concert.
It was the most memorable, itwas the funnest.
There was so much talent to beseen.
It was incredible, absolutelyincredible.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Sorry, no, that's an amazing story.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Um, yeah, I don't know, I don't know how you top
this, marsco, but you're nextall right, so I don't I don't
know how many of the shementioned some really good
all-timers there, but uh, mostmemorable, I've probably seen
kenny chesney the most.
Um, he's the most consistent.
I love till game with thatcrowd.

(22:01):
Uh, kind of sing the wholeconcert, um, so I've seen him
the most.
The best one I've probablyattended was, uh, lil wayne with
drake, but it was set up like arap battle.
It was really cool and it kindof I thought was interesting
because a lot of people, hey, you're not going to like a rap
concert, they sound better onthe radio, this, and that I

(22:24):
thought it was awesome.
Lil Wayne's probably my favoriterapper all time, so getting to
see him with Drake was prettycool.
The one that was the biggestheartache for me I had Tom Petty
tickets in the cart.
It was like his second to lastshow and I never bought him and

(22:45):
that was when God called him.
So that's probably my biggestregret.
Could have got to see him rightbefore it was his time.
And another underrated one forme I was at ohio university my
freshman year of college.
Uh, numbers fest, kind of likeit's a little woodstock, and uh,
wiz khalifa was at the top ofhis game and, uh, we were right

(23:06):
up front for that.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
That that was a pretty cool experience too okay,
yeah, the top penny would wouldcrush me.
I get that, I'm still crushed.
Yeah, don't blame you on thatone, nicole.
What about you?

Speaker 4 (23:19):
So I've been to so many concerts in my life.
Just like Wendy said, there'snothing like live music.
I mean any chance I get I'mbooking a concert or I'm going
and I'm seeing music livelocally memorable when I think

(23:45):
back.
I saw Taylor Swift when she wasan absolute nobody.
She opened for Ronnie Millsapand George Strait.
It was when she first came outwith her Tim McGraw song, so
nobody like knew what she wouldbe.
So that's pretty memorable tothink back on it.
Now.
Um saw Backstreet Boys whenthey first came back.
I'm a bastard.
Now they're performing at theSphere in Vegas so I'm going to

(24:09):
go out there and see them again.
But that was I mean.
They sang all the hits and spoton sounded just like the
records from when I was a girl.
But my top top would definitelybe Celine Dion.
Um, with um, her probably neverbeing able to perform again and

(24:31):
if you've not watched herdocumentary on everything she's
going through, definitely checkit out.
I think it's called, I am, butit just goes through all the
trauma of what she's battlingand how much she misses singing
and why she can't sing and itjust shows you know some of the
episodes that she goes throughwith this stiff syndrome that

(24:55):
she has.
So for me it would be that, Imean, it was like an angel on
the stage and you're just in,all of her, the whole
performance, from start tofinish.
So, and especially againlooking back on it, I don't
think she'll be performing, youknow, again.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
So yeah, no, I think the um the summer olympics when
she performed in the openingceremonies.
I think that was her lasthurrah, but still got it.
You can still sing from what Isaw.
But yeah, it's to see her notbe able to do it, it it's.
It's tough to see that, especially somebody you grew up

(25:38):
listening to and everything likethat.
But, mister, I can't wait tohear, hear this best concert
you've been to.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Man.
You know what this is crazy, though, man.
So I've I have never, ever, been inside a concert show.
I've never seen seen anybody ata concert.
Now I have seen I've seenMystical.

(26:06):
I've seen Pastor Troy, trinaShea Mack.
Now I saw them at the sportsbar that I used to go to.
You know, they should havedifferent functions and they
would come and, you know, do aperformance.
You know, I'm saying, you know, like one particular night, uh,
which was awesome, which waswhich was good, because me and

(26:28):
the owner, uh, caesar, you know,uh, that was my guy, and so, uh
, he would let me know wheneverhe had somebody coming in, and
so I will.
You know, I will come in andsee them, but I never, um, I
never been inside and saw aconcert, though, but, uh, but
going to those, though, you know, at the little, the little hole
in the wall spots, that's whatyou, that's where you need to go

(26:49):
.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
you need to go into the hole in the wall spots I
absolutely agree, as somebodywho you know performs comedy in
these little hole in the wallspots a lot of the time like.
Those are some of the bestcrowds.
I performed in comedy clubs, Iperformed in theaters and the
best crowds that I performed infront of are, uh, the little

(27:12):
raking dink hole in the wall barthat you would.
I performed at one in latonia.
It's part of my favorite venueand my favorite bar that I've
been to to perform at.
It's called the tipsy cow, likethat's the name of the bar, and
it is just this little.
If you blink, you miss it ifyou're going to drive past it,
and it is the most fun I've hadat a show performing or just
watching the show.

(27:32):
Uh, there, um, and yeah, it'sjust a lot of fun, those little
small venues like that.
Uh, for me, um and I'm reallygonna date myself on this one
too as well um, the best showthat I got to see live because
I've seen a lot of countryartists live.

(27:53):
I've seen, uh, toby keith, uh,rip live a bunch of times, uh,
jason aldean.
Those are great shows.
But the best one that I saw wasCreed.
They were doing their.
It was like their.
It was their reunion tour.
They finally got the band Creedback together and they

(28:16):
literally gave away free ticketsto this show.
They were just giving ticketsaway to this and I had away to
this.
I had tickets to that.
It was at Star Lake inPittsburgh.
I don't care what it's callednow, it's always going to be
Star Lake.
To me it was PPG Paints, something else, I don't even
know, but it's Star Lake, theamphitheater there in Pittsburgh

(28:40):
.
It was the most fun I've had.
They were there with Puddle ofMud, so just a great concert to
see.
But we did get our other gueston here, lauren.
Lauren, I'm not going to getyou out of this.
Everyone else had to answerthese questions.
So, since you're just nowjoining us here, introduce
yourself.

(29:00):
You have to tell us how tallyou are and what temperature you
keep your thermostat set to inthe wintertime when you go to
bed.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
Well, hello everyone.
My name is Lauren Labarsky, Iam 5'10 and I absolutely love
the warm temperature.
So I'm going to say I keep itat 69 to 70 degrees when I go to
bed, but sometimes if I'mfeeling that I would like to

(29:29):
live above the sheets, uh, Iwould say that, um, I feel like
I do drop the temperature alittle bit, um, just so I can
like come in and out of my bedin the evening.
So I mean, it's all.
It's all based off the time ofthe year.
I'd say, um, so I'm asituational sleeper.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Final answer all right, not not bad.
You're pretty on par with whateveryone else said.
We were all kind of in the 60sto 70s.
I don't get a choice.
My wife says the thermostat, because she's always cold, so
it's at 72 um.
But I will say, other than me,you are the tallest one out of
everybody else.
Um so um.
Everyone was worried about thatquestion and I think fitty did

(30:11):
this setup question because I'mI don't think he took into fact
that I'm six foot five.
Um so um, nobody else eclipsedfive.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
Ten was the tallest well, on saturday nights I'm six
foot one, because I like thereyou go, there you go.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Uh, we'll get you in on this question that we, um, we
just uh, we're talking aboutand it's uh, which artists have
you seen in concert and do youremember where it was at?

Speaker 5 (30:41):
um, so I've seen plenty of artists.
Um, most recent one, I saw johnsummit.
He's a dj.
I was in colorado last weekendit was like actually no two
weekends ago and I was able tobe in the dj booth while he was.
Uh, yeah, it was so cool.
I was literally within six, like actually three feet away

(31:03):
from him, right behind the hugecrowd, and, um, my friend katie,
that I played volleyball with,um, her and I we got backstage
passes and then we, um, johnsummit is listening to this
podcast.
Uh, we snuck into your dj boothand we, we got to hang out
behind him the whole entirenight and just get, let me

(31:27):
picture, let me put a picture inyour guys's mind real quick.
We're in Vail in Colorado skitown and we're both wearing
these flamboyant fur jackets, my, my friend's also wearing like
this mink fur like headband.
Meanwhile we get in thebackstage and then there's also
like a, like a backstage, backstage, like, where the dj is

(31:48):
.
Um, and we snuck underneath therailing in these big flamboyant
furry jackets.
You shouldn't have seen, like,if you could imagine just these
six foot girls, practically inheels with these fur jackets,
crawling underneath theserailings, to like sneak in

(32:08):
nonchalantly into this crowdbehind trash cans just to get
closer to the dj.
So that's, that's howeverything went down.
It was the best concert, honestly, that I've been to.
I felt like I was a groupie.
It was amazing, um, but it was, honestly, hands down,
phenomenal, so would not, uh,have it any other way.

(32:30):
And the fact that we were inthese furry, flamboyant jackets
that nobody else was wearing ina very it was an inside indoor
concert as well and, um,everyone looked at us like you
must be hot, and we totally were, but the thing is like there
was nowhere else to put thejacket, so we had to just accept
wearing them.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
So very, very fun I am tagging him in everything
that I do when the show airs, just so you're aware so you can
hear that story if you'relistening to the john summit you
know, like if he is listeningto it, you are getting blasted
all over social media and everyplatform just so you can listen
to this show.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Yes, I just say that I'm a big fan.
I would love to be in yourbooth again.
Hopefully I get the invitationthe real, actual invitation this
time, versus the fakeinvitation that I invited myself
.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Please holler at us and like and subscribe
absolutely, we're gonna staywith you on this one, lauren,
since you've missed a couple ofthe questions here that we we
started here.
Uh, but what's your saturday inthe summer at 4 pm, being
outside, type of music.

Speaker 5 (33:43):
Oh, saturday 4 pm, outside type of music, let me
just take.
Let me let this marinate forlike three seconds.
It's either.
If I'm on a boat, I definitelylike some like country EDM kind
of mix up mash.

(34:04):
I love my country during thesummer, but I also love my like
kind of EDM, like you know, alternative house music, um, but
if I'm on a beach, I'm going totell you country all the way.
I've seen so many countryconcerts also, and I met uncle
cracker this past summer.
I shared a drink with him, actually on the North shore of
Pittsburgh.
Um, he came down to my friend'stailgate and I catfished him

(34:28):
into having a drink with me andhe came to the booth.
He was getting a homemademargarita or a mojito or
whatever from my friend and Isaid, hey, the only way you can
get a drink here is as long asyou share it with somebody.
You got to do this like initialdrink.
So you know, we're likenewlyweds, like go around their
arms and they drink it together.
I did that with uncle crackerthis past summer.

(34:48):
Um, I have a picture and avideo to share for proof.
Um, and he had no clue what hewas doing, he just did what he
was told.
So that was cool.
But I would say honestly, probably in the country theme.
Um, there's just somethingabout summertime and you know,
like some kenny, some, somejason aldean, um, some old

(35:12):
school uncle cracker, you nameit and some florida georgia line
for sure.
So I would say, definitely thecountry theme.
But if you could throw a littlebit of a mix of a hip hop or
alternative switch, I wouldtotally do that too.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Okay, that took a weird turn, and I'm here for it.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
That is awesome.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
I need to catch myself, marty, you never know
what you're going to get with me.
I'm going to be, totally honest.
If you ask me more questions, you're going to have some weird
answers.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
You were on a rant show.
You're right on par with thispodcast.
I'm just still trying to wrapmy head around that.
You said you catfished him intoa drink.
I don't think that's the rightterm for it.
Catfished him into a drink.
I know what she meant.

(36:05):
I do know what she meant, but Idon't think that's the right
term.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
Well, he knew what he was getting into.
He accepted that he was on theplatform to get a drink.
Watching call the whole datingcatfishing thing theme.
He knew what he was gettinginto.
He just didn't know theprecautions that he would have

(36:30):
to accept a very intimate drinkgathering scenario with Laura
Levarsky.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Alrighty, I'm here for it.
Oh wow, we're just going to goto Mr because I have no words
and that's rare for me on thatone.
Mr.
4 pm Saturday.
What are you listening to?

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Say reggae 4 pm, saturday.
Man hey, listen to the smoothocean, the wind is blowing.
If I'm in Minnesota, man, I'mice fishing, but man, I got
reggae going all day long, man.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
I knew it was going to be reggae.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
I got Bob going, any one of his sons, you know, got
the Marlies going all day, man.
You know we're throwing in some.
You know, lady Saul, we'rethrowing some old reggae roots
as well, man, oh yeah, all right, nicole.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
What about you?

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Hi Warren.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
Oh my gosh, I have no clue.
You're on here, hello.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
I just want to say good thing you're halfway into
the show, because I don't thinkany of us would have gotten any
words.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Yeah, not mindful to not ask me too many questions.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
You'll get a yapper over here but I will segue into
the uncle cracker thing.
Um, I remember seeing I thinkit was Kid Rock actually over at
Put-In-Bay and he was openingfor Kid Rock and he was smashing
some drinks at the bar beforehe even went on stage.
So I can only imagine theexperience you have you had with

(38:16):
Uncle Cracker, counting somedrinks with him.
But what I would say for mygo-to saturday 4 pm I am telling
alexa to either play jerryrafferty, baker street, uh,
caribbean queen by billy oceanor robert palmer, addicted to

(38:38):
love.
Really good mix off of thatthat's, that's amazing there you
go yeah

Speaker 2 (38:48):
I'm just like lauren with this one I'm picking up
beat.
Country yeah, kind of chill outnear the pool floor.
Georgia line uh, I forgot toeven mention them with the
concert.
When I saw them at, I think Ithink, stambaugh Auditorium it
was $20.
I was right up front.
Six months later they were onthe American Country Music

(39:14):
Awards winning everything andyou couldn't find a $20 ticket
anymore.
So kind of have a sweet spotfor Florida.
Georgia Line.
Jason Aldean Again, I mentionedKenny.
I've seen him in concert morethan anyone.
You know.
Jimmy Buffett Just a lot ofthat leisurely music, underrated
one maybe.
If it's not country, I'm goingwith some Red Hot Chili Peppers.
It's kind of right in thatrealm, just kind of sitting

(39:34):
there, vibing, relaxing, makingit feel like Saturday?

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Absolutely, Wendy.
What about you?

Speaker 6 (39:43):
Oh, me and Mr are hanging out together playing
reggae, because I'm on the sametrain, I'm playing Bob Marley or
I'm blasting some otherplaylist with reggae on a
Saturday afternoon.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
And the reason why is becausethere are well, there's a.
There's a couple.

(40:03):
There are well, there's a,there's a couple.
But there's a couple reggaefestivals that we have in our
area One in Fairport that's donea couple of times a year in the
summertime, and then there'salso another one that is done
towards Ohio city, and when Isay big, I mean thousands and
thousands and thousands ofpeople show up for it, and it's

(40:26):
an all day affair.
It starts so early, They've gotthe stage set and it's nothing
but reggae bands playing thewhole entire day.
And I got to say you have notseen happier people all in one
place at the same time.
I'm not kidding.
Everybody is happy.
It's hard not to be.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
It really is I dabble with some reggae every now and
again.
It depends on my mood.
If I'm in a super chill, happymood, I'll listen to reggae.
But for me, saturday 4 pm, Iknow I'm out there grilling
because we grill everything inthe summertime.

(41:06):
I don't even think our stoveturns on in the summertime.
I'm grilling everything and I'mplaying anything that I could
just dance like a white guy towhile I'm cooking.
Like that's my go-to and it,it's just it.
It's funny because my my wifedidn't realize that I did that.

(41:28):
She's normally inside doingsomething while I'm outside
grilling.
And she came out and I was justin my own little world by my
grill and it was a the hell areyou doing?
And it was making dinner justin my own little world, dancing
like a white guy.
That's, that's, that's me, it's, it's anything that, yeah, just

(41:51):
keeps it.
You know, like everyone said, upbeat, happy.
Just it's summertime.
How do you, how can you not be,not be happy and just moving
around?
So we are running a little bitshort on time.
So I'm going to get a couple, two more questions in here and I

(42:12):
cannot wait for the answers tothis one.
But, wendy, we're going tostart with you.
Backstreet Boys or NSYNC, who'syour pick?

Speaker 6 (42:21):
Oh, I got to say Backstreet Boys, there you go.
Yeah, I'm not even hesitating.
Backstreet Boys, there you go.
Yeah, I'm not even hesitating.
Backstreet Boys all day.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
Mr oh man.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
Backstreet Boys man.

Speaker 1 (42:35):
All right, marsco.

Speaker 2 (42:37):
Backstreet's back, nicole.
Backstreet all the way.
All right, nicole.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
Backstreet all the way.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Alright, lauren, are we going to have a clean sweep?

Speaker 4 (42:53):
Don't screw it up, lauren.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
It's not going to blow both of us, are you Did?

Speaker 5 (42:59):
We lose her.
I was trying to unmute myselfFor dramatic effect For the
suspense Backstreet.
Did we lose her?
I was trying to unmute myselfFor dramatic effect For the
suspense Backstreet.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
Backstreet.

Speaker 1 (43:11):
Boys.
There you go.
I'm in the same boat, backstreet Boys.
I don't know if anyone can hearit.
I heard it in my headphones butI don't know if anybody can
hear it.
As soon as I asked the question, my wife from the background
went BSB for life and so it's.
It's a clean sweep great boys.

(43:33):
That is so funny, man.
This is this, this is this isthe bono household.
Uh, for everyone new listenersout there.
Uh, we wait it.
It it could be its own TV show.
I'm just saying, if anybody'slooking for a new reality TV
show, just set up cameras in theBono house.
You will be entertained forseasons upon seasons.

(43:55):
Alrighty, here, I've got acouple good questions here to
end up with.
We're going to go with this one, okay, because I think it's
gonna be a lot of good answers.
Lauren, we're gonna go with youon this one.
And does Taylor Swift belong inthe same category as a singer

(44:19):
and performer as Whitney Houstonand Celine Dion?
Oh no, oh no, as WhitneyHouston and.

Speaker 5 (44:25):
Celine Dion oh no, no .
No, I'm sorry, I'm not a Swifty.
I appreciate everything shedoes for the economy, Yada, yada
, yada, but no, I meanrespectfully, I just think
there's a better talent out inthe world.
She's talented, but I justdon't prefer it 100% with you on

(44:48):
that one.

Speaker 1 (44:49):
For sure.
I'll get to my long-windedanswer on that here after
everyone else goes, mister.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
You know, you almost want me to say I plead the fifth
and they compel.
Are you freaking, kidding me?
No comment, it's not evendisgusting.

Speaker 5 (45:07):
It's not even disgusting he doesn't want to be
exposed it's not even close.

Speaker 3 (45:17):
Stay with your boy.
You know what I'm saying.
Try and keep him up during theoff season.
Hopefully they be back, maybe, nicole, what about you?
And keep them up during theoffseason?

Speaker 1 (45:24):
Hopefully they be back.
Maybe, Nicole, what about you?

Speaker 4 (45:30):
So funny that this is even a question, since they
both came up from me in one ofyour questions.

Speaker 1 (45:36):
It's the reason I went with this question.
Honestly, there was twoquestions that I had left and I
was like I can't get both ofthem in.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
No, I said when seeing Celine I mean it was just
in an in awe concert it there'sno comparison like at all.
I mean not again not sayingshe's not talented.
She's talented in her own right, but it's comparing apples to
oranges, in my opinion okay, marsco and after those

(46:09):
explanations I'll feel qualifiedto answer the question I

Speaker 2 (46:13):
mean I'm gonna kind of have to bend the knee with
the side of experience.
I mean I, I appreciate that ofmusic, I'm not too well versed
in it.
I mean, no, probably help myfollowers on X.
I mean I am a little bit of aSwifty.
Um, you know, my wife reallyenjoys her music.

(46:34):
We've got a lot of her uhrecords.
I don't know if there's anostalgia.
My wife plays her recordsdownstairs, um, but no, we watch
, watch Taylor Swift on DisneyPlus and all that.
So I mean I'd put her up there, maybe not on that level but in
that category.
But I don't know, everyone elseon this panel seemed like a

(46:54):
definite no.
So maybe I don't know what Idon't know.
But yeah, you're right.
So I'm down with her.
Wendy, what about you?

Speaker 1 (47:02):
no, not a fan, not a fan of hers at all of Nick
Taylor's, so I'm down with her.
All right, wendy, what?

Speaker 6 (47:04):
about you?
No, no, not a fan, not a fan ofhers at all.
Never been, doesn't even comeclose to my opinion.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Everyone except for Marisco is absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
No, that's one of the cleanest no's I've ever heard.
Clean it now no, just no.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
You know that's one that's one of the cleanest no
that I've ever heard.

Speaker 6 (47:27):
Clean now no, just no I mean it as strongly as I can,
right I will.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
I will say with my whole chest I cannot stand
taylor swift, um with, with the, with a hot, flaming passion.
I I cannot stand Taylor Swift.
Sorry, marsco, I'm sorry you'rethe only Swifty that's on the
show, which is not what Iexpected.
But no, it's just I.

(47:53):
There's no way you could evenput her in the same breath as
Whitney Houston or Celine Dion.
Anyone who does is 100% wrong.
I can't stand that.
When I turn on any NFL game orESPN, if she's even in the same

(48:17):
city as the game that's playing, they're showing her.
I can't stand it, come on nowwhat, marsco, you want to get
into this right now.
We'll do this.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
I like football either.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
But come on, I ain't got nothing to do with her
singing, performing I didn't sayshe couldn't sing, I'm just
saying I don't like it.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
I just can't stand her.
It's just I don't like it.
I just can't stand her.
It's just.
I don't know what it is, andI'm going to use one of my
favorite lines from StepBrothers it's something about
her face.
I just can't stand it.
I can't stand her face.
It's everywhere.
I know I might lose a lot offollowers on this podcast for

(49:04):
this, but you know what?

Speaker 2 (49:05):
I don't care Um, because Chris, underscore,
marsco, all you Swifties, oh man, and my girl, caitlin Clark, up
in the booth too.
She got bonus points with me.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
And Caitlin Clark.
Okay, I, I can see puttingCaitlin Clark up there.
Um, that's rare, uh, for her tobe at the games, but it's
anytime Travis Kelsey farts, they put her on the screen in
the game, like that's what Ican't stand and it's just.
I could go on for a wholeepisode by myself Just talking

(49:40):
about my hatred for Taylor Swift.
It's a lot, but anyways, Ithink I, lauren, I got you right
.
I started with you right onthat one.
I got so off track, yeah.

Speaker 5 (49:58):
Yeah, you did.
You definitely got off trackand you definitely started with
me, okay.

Speaker 1 (50:02):
I just want to make sure I got everybody in before I
did this, but that was the AllThings Music Show and that is
going to do it for this week'sepisode of the Ride Home Rants
podcast.
I want to thank all of myguests for coming on Nicole,
wendy, mr Lauren for joining uslate, marsco, the unfortunate

(50:25):
Swifty that's on the show, andWendy for joining.
As always, if you enjoyed theshow, be a friend, tell a friend
.
If you didn't tell them anyways, because they might like it,
just because you didn't.
That's going to do it for meand I will see y'all next week.
