What if a simple yes could turn a closet into a pulpit and a front porch into a sanctuary? We welcome Cody to share a sweeping story of surrender, from notebook sermons as a teenager to spontaneous live streams that drew thousands during lockdown, and the porch gatherings that sparked salvations, deliverance, and a growing church family. It’s a journey marked by purity of heart, humility before God, and a fierce refusal to let fear silence the voice inside.

We explore how real transformation begins with availability—Hineni: here I am, and I’m willing. Cody unpacks the power of doing the next right thing when you don’t have all the details, and why heaven here now is more than a phrase. We talk about cultivating a pure sound in a noisy age, resisting performance religion, and guarding the wells of living water within. From blue tarps in a thunderstorm to people driving over a hundred miles for prayer, every scene points to the same truth: God brings the beauty when we keep him at the center.

You’ll hear practical steps to move from fear to freedom—daily Scripture habits, finding a Christ-centered church, and joining a small group where honesty and healing can flourish. Expect a clear call to surrender, a challenge to speak when God says speak and be still when he says be still, and a reminder that you’re not responsible for self-promotion. Your yes matters. If you’ve been waiting for perfect conditions, consider this your nudge to begin.

If this conversation stirred your faith, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review to help others find it. Then tell us: what’s your next right step?

SPEAKER_01 (00:00):
Welcome to Road to Redemption.
I'm John Martin.
I'm so excited to be here todaywith my new friend Cody.
How are you?

SPEAKER_00 (00:10):
I'm great.
How are you?

SPEAKER_01 (00:11):
I'm so excited to meet you.
I've heard about you from Valand Bon Bon and Eddie, and we
have so many mutual friendsthrough the Path and Grace
Ministry, which I love.
We've had had a lot of the girlsand Eddie on the show, and just
I've been so blessed by hearingfrom all of them.

(00:32):
I mean, it's just touched me somuch.

SPEAKER_00 (00:35):
Yes, it's an incredible, it's an incredible
ministry, um, incredible kingdomwork that is being done.
Um truly that place everywherethat they go becomes a sanctuary
for the presence of God.
It makes it makes the workingsof what we think would be in the
only secluded to the church.
It makes it come alive in everyarea, in thrift stores, in

(00:57):
homes, in um just restaurantsand places.
Everywhere that they go, thepresence of God is on display.
It's incredible.

SPEAKER_01 (01:06):
Wow.
Well, our mutual friend Bon Bonwas telling me about you, and I
was like, wow, I mean, I justgot to hear a little bit, but he
was telling me you startedhearing from God at a young age,
maybe even like eight or nineyears old.
You started writing sermons.
I mean, these things that justaren't normal, you know, and I

(01:27):
was like, but so great, youknow.
So t tell us a little bit aboutyour background.

SPEAKER_00 (01:32):
Um, well, I have been um in the church or in the
presence of the Lord uh sincesince I was in my mother's womb.
Um, you know, I used I say ajoke sometimes, you know, that I
came in the house before shedid.
Um, but I've really been been inthe presence of the Lord since
since birth.
And um I grew up in services andprayer meetings and all of those

(01:59):
things, but the Lord reallybegan to make himself real to me
at a young age, and I gave mylife to Jesus when I was eight
years old, and I was baptized umwith the evidence of speaking in
tongues when I was eight yearsold, and I would sing.
Um, man, but I was afraid, likeI would not talk or speak.
If they were like, testify, sayyour name, I would be like, uh,

(02:23):
and I would, but I would sing myheart out.
Um, but around 15 years old, Iwas on a field trip.
We were our whole eighth gradeclass was going to like
Universal or something, I don'tremember the theme park, um, but
I had an encounter with the Lordon that bus.
My parents weren't there, nobodywas there.
Um, and I began reading inJeremiah.

(02:44):
Um, before I formed you in thebelly, I knew you.
I set you apart, I ordained youa prophet to the nations, and
then I said, Behold, Lord God, Icannot speak because I'm a
child.
And he said, Do not say you area child, for you will go and do
all that I send you to do.
Don't be afraid of their faces.
You know, I've called you to thenations to tear down and to
build and to plan and to pluckup and set things in order and

(03:07):
to establish.
And um, I knew that day that theLord had called me.
And um, I would be in my room inmy secret place with God, and I
would go to school, and when I'dget off the bus, I'd just go
straight to my bedroom, I'd shutthe door, and I'd just be alone
with God.
And I had all of my Bibles, Ihad concordances and um, you

(03:28):
know, just Bible dictionaries, everything would be scattered,
and then have my notebooks andI'd be writing down all of these
things, and later on I come torealize that I was writing
sermons, you know, um, I waspreaching, but I was preaching
in my notebook, and um May the23rd, 2003, the Lord opened a
door for me to preach, and uhthey were making fun of me.

(03:50):
They were like, you know, yourfirst time, you're gonna, you
know, it's gonna be like fiveminutes and then it'll be over.
And um 25 minutes later, theywere like, Oh my goodness, we've
got a long-winded lady on ourhands.
Um, but I've been preaching uhsince 2003, and I will be 38
this year, and uh, so it's it'sbeen a long time.

(04:10):
Um, our family traveled singingsouthern gospel music uh when I
was eight years old.
So I'm literally been in inministry of some capacity for 30
years and um been preaching, andGod just he's just opened up
door after door after door, anddid a lot of evangelism, a lot
of preaching in different citiesand states when I was uh coming

(04:33):
up and a teenager.
Uh grew up, got married, hadsome kids, and uh God began to
open up the door at Path ofGrace uh through uh using Von
Bon.
Um we lived in the same town.
God moved me from the town Igrew up in into the town that I
married my husband.
And I'd heard about Von Bon, butI'd never like met him.

(04:53):
But we had a meeting, and fromthat God just sparked a just a
kingdom relationship and itopened a lot of doors.
We ministered in jails together, ministered at Path of Grace
together.
Um, and in 2020, when everythingkind of like shut down, um he
the Lord was like, Um, you know, the world might be shut down,

(05:16):
but you're not shut down.
And I was in my living room inMarch of 2020, and I was just
playing keyboard.
My husband had gone coonhunting.
I don't know if you guys do alot of coon hunting down here,
but um, he went coon hunting, and me and my daughters were
sitting in the living room, andI just began to sing, and I
wrote this song, and my daughterturned around and she said, Mom,

(05:36):
that's the most beautiful songI've ever heard.
Um, and I so I I sent it, I hadvoice recorded it so I wouldn't
forget you know the words orwhatever.
And I sent it to my friend, andshe called me and she said, You
have to, she said, you have tomake a video, you have to post
it on Facebook, you know, peopleneed to hear this right now.
And I was like, I am not thatperson, like I am not a camera,

(06:00):
like let's do all the things, but um, I really felt the Lord
in it, and we did that.
And um by the the end of thetime frame or whatever, it had
like over a hundred thousandviews, and people from all over
the world were watching, and shewas like, now preach to them.
And I had just asked my cousin,uh, my husband, uh, because in

(06:20):
2020 there really wasn'tanything that you could do
besides just um be at home orbuild something, and I needed
some closet space, and I'd askedmy husband to turn our bathroom
in our bedroom into a closetbecause I needed uh closet space
more than I needed a bathroom, and he did, and I went in that
closet and I set my keyboard upand I just started ministering

(06:43):
and turned Facebook Live on onmy phone.
I had no idea what I was doing.
Um, but sometimes there would be5,000 people that would be
listening, and God just heopened doors, and then my
husband built me a porch, and uhit was really hot in that
closet, so I started goingoutside and preaching on my
porch, and then people werelike, Hey, can we come to your

(07:04):
yard?
And they would drive over ahundred miles one way just to
come sit in the yard, and thepresence of God would pour out,
and people would be slain in thespirit, and he was just doing
incredible things, and um heopened a door to where um
because one night it rained andI was gonna have to cancel.
And um, I worked at a hardwarestore at the time, and the Lord

(07:27):
said, Don't cancel.
Um, he said, Get these tarps.
And so I had my husband put allthese blue tarps and enclose
this porch, this beautiful porchhe had just built me.
And uh we had service thatnight, and three people wound up
coming in the middle of thepouring rain and giving their
life to Christ.
Um, and he just showed me likewhatever I say, just do it, it

(07:50):
will work.
You know, it's not about thebeauty of of what's around you.
He said, I'm the beauty, I'm I'mthe thing, I'm the main thing.
Let me be the main thing.
And um so I started praying.
I was like, God, if you're gonnasend me these people, you know,
I we need a place to put them, you know, and and so he just
started opening doors and he putus in the building that we're in

(08:11):
right now.
And um, he's just he's beensaving.
We started out with 10 peopleand in our little tiny town.
There's over 300 now, and we'rerunning two services on Sunday
mornings, and and I I just Godis doing amazing things, he's
been saving and delivering.
We're seeing families restored, prodigals return, um, just going

(08:33):
into different cities and andseeing God manifest himself and
just he's real.
Yes, he's really real.
And whoever wants to be a partof what he's doing, if you've
got a heart that says yes, youcan be a part.
Yes, and um just open your mouthand he'll fill it.
And he's just he's been faithfulto me.

(08:53):
And he is good and he has donegreat things, and I just pray
that my life points people tohim.

SPEAKER_01 (09:00):
Yeah, you are so wow, you're ministering to me.
I could you could keep going onand on.
I'm I'm so blessed.
And w well part of what we'rewith this show, Cody, is is
we're really trying to bringpeople hope um through these
conversations, testimonies.

(09:22):
Because we we find that a lot ofpeople in America, especially
and even this region, identify, they say they're a Christian.
Yeah, you know.
But we're not living a sold-out,surrendered, you know, we're
we're we're living in fear,anxiety, depression, addictions,

(09:44):
you know, so we're not doingwhat the Bible's telling, you
know.
So we're trying to providepeople hope.
Um what is your message?
You know, if you had to say, I Iknow you're preaching a lot, but
is there one overall messagethat you're speaking today?

SPEAKER_00 (10:04):
Um, well, a lot of what you've just said is just to
sell out, to believe God,believe that He is who He says
he is, and He will do what Hesays He will do.
Um, there were a lot of timesthat people, especially in 2020,
they were like, Well, what areyou doing right now?
And and I want to let you know, like, it's okay to not know what

(10:25):
you're doing.
Um, as long as you know whoyou've said yes to.
You don't have to know.
Um, I Isaiah, he said this, hesaid, Here am I.
The Lord said, Whom will I send?
Who will go for us?
And Isaiah said, Here am I, andin Hebrew, that word is Hanaini,
Hanaini Adonai, here I am, Lord.

(10:46):
And it doesn't just mean thatI'm here and I'm present, but it
means that I'm available.
Yeah, whether I know what mymarching orders are or not,
whether you give me every detailor not, you have my yes.
And um just do people would say,Well, what are you doing?
And I said, I'm just doing thenext right thing.

(11:07):
You don't always know the wholepath that is set out before you,
but you do know the one who hasordained your steps.
So you don't have to have allthe details and all the little
pieces and all the parts.
That's his.
Yeah, that belongs to him.
Your life, your steps, and hewill use, he will use anyone.
If we've seen anything in thelast several weeks, it is that

(11:28):
the enemy is coming after thesound.
He he wants to keep us in fear.
He wants to silence the voice ofthe people of God.
He wants to silence the voice ofhope from the least of these to
the greatest of these.
He said, My voice is the voiceof many waters.
You know, and in John, he said,I've put deep wells inside of
you.
There is a well spring thatcomes out of all of us, and the

(11:51):
sound that comes from you, thesound that comes from me, the
sound that is released out ofevery single vessel that he has
created, out of every singlewell, all of those rivers of
living water make up the soundof the voice of God.
What we release in this hourbelongs to him.
The sound belongs to him, themessage belongs to him, the past
belongs to him, the provisionbelongs to him, and he will

(12:14):
release it into the hands of anyof us.
It doesn't matter.
He didn't wait for the prodigalto clean up and be amazing.
You know, he just said, put arobe on him, put my ring on him.
He's automatically restored.
You know what I mean?
So whether you've been in thekingdom for a long time and
you've been living in fear andyou're like, who am I?

(12:34):
You know, who am I?
I'm nobody.
I'm just some little girl fromnowhere.
You know, but he made himselfreal to me.
Um, you know, if if you've beenin addiction, if you've been,
you know, if the enemy hashijacked your life, take it back
in Jesus' name.
You know, you don't have to waiton this certain thing right now.

(12:56):
It's right now.
It's it's not later, it's now.
And and the people need to wakeup to that it's it's now.
And um I just, whoever you are, wherever you come from, none of
that holds any bearing on God'sability to use you, God's
ability to flow through you.

(13:17):
And when I say use you, I don'tmean like the world.
The world wants to use you anduse you up and spit you out and
move on to the next.
But God desires to use you inthe fact of that we are
conduits.
As it is in heaven, so shall itbe in the earth.
We are just here to get heavenhere now, to let people see him
now.

SPEAKER_01 (13:37):
That's so funny because I was just thinking the
same thing about we have theability for heaven here now.

SPEAKER_00 (13:45):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_01 (13:46):
And and and and God wants us to have that, you know,
and and and his children are youknow are struggling, you know,
and and we want to see them comeinto that, you know, to have
heaven here now, and you canhave that.
What what what do you recommend?
What how how do people do that?

SPEAKER_00 (14:06):
The Bible tells us that the pure in heart shall see
God.

SPEAKER_01 (14:10):
Okay.

SPEAKER_00 (14:10):
And I believe that every bit of it goes back to
purity.
He met me in in my childhood, hemet me in my innocence.
Have I been perfect?
Absolutely not.
Have I fallen down?
Yes, but it's not in the falldown, it's in the get up.
You know what I mean?
That's where that's where thewin is found, is in the get up.
I just believe that in this hourthat we are in, it's going to be

(14:31):
about the purity of the heart.
The Bible says that there arepeople who are going to declare,
Lord, Lord, have I notprophesied in your name?
Have I not done all of thesewonderful things in your name?
And he will say on that day, depart from me.
I never knew you.
Um, and there is revival that issweeping this nation, but it is

(14:51):
going to be a grassroots comingfrom the nobodies kind of
movement that is going onbecause we're the people who
don't want the credit, we don'tcare.
We want him to have the crown,we want him to have the glory,
we want him to have thedominion.
Because if you find me, whatgood does that do you?
But if you find him because youfound me, that's what you need.

(15:14):
And so I just I want to tellpeople in this hour to beware
for the pureness of the sound.
He spoke to me last weekend andhe said, if you don't rise up
now with a pure sound, he said, you will watch the region that
I've called you to inherit beswept away with a counterfeit.
There are people who know how todo church, but they do not have

(15:35):
pure hearts.
And there are people with purehearts that are sitting in boxes
waiting for somebody to releasethem or somebody to approve of
them when you already have theapproval of Abba.
You already have the approval ofGod.
We can't live on our emotions inthis season.
People are searching and theyare hungry.

(15:55):
And we need people who are goingto rise up and give them the
genuine power of God, thedunamous power that you came to
Him one way, but you are leavinga different way.
That you have died and beenburied with Christ and you are
resurrected into newness oflife.
Old things have passed away, allthings have become new.
And you can't get that with theform.

(16:18):
You only get that with thegenuine, you only get that with
the purity.
And so, um, and that's I mean, that is something that is so
important, I believe, in thishour.
God is moving, but the enemy isgoing to be right there, trying
to overshadow it every step.
So stop waiting.

SPEAKER_01 (16:36):
Yes.

SPEAKER_00 (16:36):
Stop waiting.
Do what is in your heart to do.

SPEAKER_01 (16:39):
That's awesome.
Well, is there anything else youwant to say before we go?

SPEAKER_00 (16:43):
Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and
he will exalt you in due season.
Whenever, whenever God places agift in our life and the
fullness of time comes, he knowswhen the fullness has come.
Um and and when it does, he'sgoing to pull that out and he's

(17:05):
going to elevate it.
We don't have to strive in thisseason.
We can be seated with him inheavenly places, and we can just
hear his voice.
And as we humble ourselves andwe submit to him in purity and
integrity and in honesty and inpureness, holiness,
consecration, sanctification, hewill do the lifting, he will do

(17:29):
the heavy lifting, he'll do theraising.
And um, so we're not responsiblefor the trajectory, we're not
responsible for the thrust,we're not responsible in the
push or the shove to get us fromwhere we are into where he would
have us to be.
Our job is to be holy, to behumble, and to wait on him to

(17:49):
speak when he says to speak.
Jesus said, He said, I onlyspeak what I hear my father
speak.
I'm only doing what I've seen myfather do.
And if we will live in thatexample, to be quiet when it's
time to be quiet, to lift up asound when it's time to release
a sound, and then just let himtake care of the rest, he's
going to do it.

(18:10):
He will draw all men to himself.

SPEAKER_01 (18:14):
That's so good.
Cody, wow, thank you.
And as we come to the end, wealways like to share our three
key pillars of road toredemption, which is first to
get into the Word of God.
Just start reading the Bibletoday.

SPEAKER_00 (18:31):
Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01 (18:32):
And if you don't have a hardback Bible, get your
phone.
It's right there.
Pull up the Bible app.
Start reading the Bible and doit every day, every morning.
The Lord will speak to you.
And then get into aChrist-centered, Bible-believing
church.
And just go.
Don't try to find the perfectchurch.

(18:54):
Don't overanalyze it.
Just go.
Go to church.
And then get into a group.
Get into a smaller group withinyour church that you can do life
with.
You can just make yourself selfvulnerable.
And they can minister you inthat group to go deeper with
God.
To receive that total surrender.

(19:14):
Total surrender.
And have heaven here on earth,as Cody and I said, it's
available now.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
