Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's do this.
Hello everybody, and welcome toan all-new episode of
Wrestling's Road Trip.
After Hours I'm looking atTeddy Teddy's getting himself
all situated here.
I even had to play an extralittle promo because I saw you
(00:21):
still running around trying toget everything set there.
I'm trying to get my light on,hey, light on yes, both of them.
Oh man, look here, teddy.
We talked about this on sportskita the other day, and one of
the things that people werehaving a big fuss about was bill
goldberg's last match withgunther in WWE.
(00:43):
Now, personally, I thought itwas a great match.
I thought it was exactly whatit should have been.
When it came to Goldberg, Ilike the way that he went out
losing to the champion, which ishow old school.
I'm old school and I justbelieve that's how it should be
done and he did it that way.
But it was after the match, teddy, that a lot of stuff is
(01:05):
stirred up.
And it's now Bill Goldbergsaying that he wasn't real happy
about how his last match washandled, even suggesting that
you know they cut him off at theend of the show and they never
would have done that if it hadbeen a Stone Cold or a John Cena
.
What are your feelings?
I mean, first of all, did youget a chance to see that match
(01:27):
with him and Gunther?
No, I did not Okay, just trustme.
It was a good match and it wasa long match for Goldberg.
I want to say it was about 14minutes and that's a long match
for Goldberg, but I thought itwas handled perfectly.
But what about the bitchingafterwards?
It was handled perfectly, butwhat about the bitching
afterwards?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Well, what I want to
know is if you're bringing a guy
in for a one-time deal his lastmatch, retirement match then
what's the fuss all about?
Okay, that's what you knowalready was going to happen A
one-time deal, you lose tonight, but you'll go out in a blazing
glory.
So I don't understand.
I don't know what the problemis.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I really don't.
I think his biggest issue camewhen they cut him off.
He was trying to give hisspeech.
He wanted to speak at the endof the match and they handed him
the microphone and 21 secondsinto what he was trying to say,
the network cut him off and wentto the next show.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Well, if they'd done
that, then they had the right to
do that.
You know, bill.
You know a lot of people don'tknow TV.
When you're out there doingpromos and things, you know,
especially when you're doingthem live, that's time consuming
, that's a minute.
You know they might want you aminute and a half or maybe maybe
not.
So after he went over that alot of time, then you know,
maybe there was no way forsomebody to get to him to tell
(02:42):
him hey, come on, man, you'rerunning over.
So they had no other choice butto cut him off.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I thought it was kind
of strange too.
Look, I'm a Goldberg fan.
I like Goldberg.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
I like him too.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
I like him too, man,
but I think that he I don't know
what he was expecting, because,as a fan of Goldberg, I was
happy with how they handledeverything.
I happy with how they handledeverything.
I know they cut him off, but myfirst guess was look, you know,
let's be honest.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
But there's a reason
for something.
If they cut him off, then theyhad to do that.
It's time consuming.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
He's running over
somebody's time.
Yeah, I mean, you know this isa network television too.
This isn't just you know.
It's not like you know.
He can just go as long as hewants, this as he wants.
This was on Saturday night'smain event handled by the.
NBC Network and they've got tokeep going.
Whether WWE time things outright or not, that's not up to
NBC.
They've got to keep moving on.
But I did see afterwards, andfor those of you who want to get
(03:36):
into the chat, feel free to doso.
All you have to do is leave usa comment in the section.
It doesn't cost you anything.
No super chats here.
All you can do is just drop usa comment.
We'll put it on the screen.
It's really that simple.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
And you also have the
opportunity of getting a free
T-shirt.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yes, you do.
And, by the way, our lastweek's winner, I promise, is
going out, but I have been stuckin the house for several days
and so it's going out eithertomorrow or the first of next
week.
But let me get back real quick, teddy.
Back to the Bill Goldberg thing.
You know Bret Hart couldn'thelp himself.
(04:11):
Actually, somebody asked BretHart about you know the
interview that Goldberg had donewhere he was kind of
complaining about how thingswere handled, and he said this
is Bret.
Now he says quote.
It didn't surprise me.
And he said this is Brett.
Now he says quote.
It didn't surprise me.
That was one of the mostpathetic attempts I've ever seen
from a grown man trying torewrite history.
Bill Goldberg is one of thebiggest babies I ever shared a
(04:35):
locker room with, always wasAlways needed to be handled with
kid gloves because his ego wasbigger than his talent.
He's out here whining aboutgetting 20 seconds with a mic
after his so-called retirementmatch.
Please.
That guy's had more chancesthan he ever deserved.
He damn near ended my careerwith a kick he had no business
(04:58):
throwing and I've never onceheard a genuine apology Not once
.
Because, because, deep down,he's never cared about this
business, never respected it.
He was handed everything andstill thinks the world owes him
something.
To watch him get all emotionaltrying to paint himself as some
victim now it's insulting.
(05:18):
He talks about honor and legacylike he ever earned either.
Bill Goldberg is an ungratefuldisgrace to this business,
Always has been, and the truthis, if he never laced up a pair
of boots again, wrestling wouldbe better off for it.
End quote Wow.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Wow, I mean.
Well, everybody is entitled totheir own opinion.
And one thing about Bret Harthe speaks the truth.
He speaks it like he sees it.
I'm great friends with Bret too.
I mean, never had a nicerfriend before than Bret Hart.
I mean me and him.
We see each other in passingbut we always take time.
(06:00):
I always take time, you know,to stop and speak, get a hug and
keep right on going, but Bretis one of the most nicest guys.
I'm so glad to be a friend withhim.
I don't know what to do Alsowith Goldberg.
You know I worked with him whenhe first broke into business,
so me and him was always goodfriends, had no problem.
So you know, like I said, brettsees this a whole different way
(06:20):
.
Brett is a professionalwrestler.
He sees things that I may notsee.
I'm not a professional wrestler, so I don't.
You know I've learned that gamebut I don't know really the ins
and outs.
You know some of them I do andsome I don't.
So but Brett is, you know, he'sa seasoned veteran.
He's been around for a longtime.
His dad you know what I meantrained so many guys, you know,
(06:40):
and had them come out as toughpeople in the ring, tough
competitors.
So I just wish there was someway that these two could sit
down and talk about this andkind of bury the hatchet and
just kind of move on.
I hope whatever Goldberg did, Ihope, I think I don't know, it
might have been in the interestof his son, maybe his son
(07:04):
getting involved in professionalwrestling, I don't know.
But whatever went down, I hopeit works out for everybody.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
I hope it does too,
and and I hope that uh Goldberg
kind of looks back at this and Isaw the interview that he had
done when he was talking about,uh, how the match was handled.
He didn't seem overlydisappointed.
He just seemed like there wassomething more that maybe he
felt should have been done, andI don't think it was much more.
But you know, he is what he is.
(07:32):
He's going to say what he'sgoing to say, much like Brett's
going to say what he's going tosay.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, Goldberg had
the opportunity.
I mean, if something didn't godown like he wanted that day, he
had the opportunity to talkabout this before it even
started that he had theopportunity to talk about this
before it even started.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Well, I'm guessing
there was a point of that night,
teddy, where there was aproblem in another match that I
think threw the timing of theshow off and so they went out
there with some shorter timethan they had expected and, I
don't guess for whatever reason, somebody was cueing them in or
the boys in the ring were justtotally ignoring the ref and the
cues.
Because, you know, he reallygot, he won, I mean he lost the
(08:08):
match.
And uh, after gunther leaves,he gets up and he starts to talk
on the microphone.
He's got his family behind himand a bunch of you know friends
in the back and uh, 21 secondsin.
You know, I couldn't have doneit without you boom, we're in
the next show on nbc and I thinkhe got mad at the wrong people.
I think that timing issues forthat segment, unfortunately they
(08:30):
happen, and you know that aswell as anybody, teddy.
I mean it happens.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
He run over into
somebody else's time.
They had no choice.
You know they have to cut youoff.
You know we got to put the nextthing in here.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
By the way, tony
Hunter stopping by saying what's
up, player Mac I appreciateTony Hunter man.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
What a great promoter
Tony Hunter, he is the man.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
And pretty classy
lady.
How are y'all today?
I'm doing great, teddy, youdoing good.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, I'm doing good,
classy lady.
Thanks for checking in on us.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Look here.
Have you noticed that WWE hasgotten into podcasting kind of
big time now?
Have you noticed that Teddy Notreally.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
I don't know as much
about them you know, so I don't
know.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
They are now.
Currently they're takingpodcasting.
It seems like on a more seriouslevel, where they're actually
trying to program podcastinginto whatever they do and a slew
of new shows are out there, whatever they do.
And a slow slew of new showsare out there Uh, you got a WWE
and fanatics, uh, workingtogether for this digital
content network.
Uh, and they now have LoganPaul's impulsive uh, impulsive,
(09:34):
uh on their network as well.
As what's your story withStephanie McMahon, six feet
under with the undertaker which, teddy, you did, uh, uh, that
podcast before it went to WWE,and Cody Rhodes, what do you
want to talk about?
The Raw recap show, and I thinkthere's much more still to come
.
So, teddy, I was just going tothrow it out that you need to
(09:57):
let them know that you have apodcast.
They know, hey, we got apodcast and we got something to
do here.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
They know the Stooges
, let them know.
Okay, believe me, they gotStooges everywhere, so they know
.
Yep.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Hey look, I want to
throw this up there before we
get into the mailbag.
Furman Perez saying Teddy andMac, how y'all doing players?
Teddy, what are your thoughtson Ivan Warsaw passing?
I don't even know if you knewthat, teddy.
Did you ever see that?
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, Randy Klein,
the owner of TSW there.
He called me a couple of daysago, I think it was, and after
he heard about you know, my son,he called me to talk to him,
speak to me about that.
And then, right after that, wow, he calls me right back and we
hear about Ivan Warsaw.
I think his wife is responsiblefor it, I believe.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Mm I.
You know it was really shockingfor me.
I I've only met him on a coupleof occasions and we did some
work together.
Uh, when I went with Teddy touh Texas style wrestling and he
was a really cool guy and thewhat I loved about Ivan Warsaw
was he was believable, and thisis in a world of wrestling where
(11:02):
a lot of people come off asplaying a character Ivan Warsaw.
You, in a world of wrestlingwhere a lot of people come off
as playing a character ivanwarsaw, you believe what you saw
.
When you saw him and rodneymack lock up in the ring and go
at it or other, you swore thesetwo guys were ready to kill one
another and uh, that's the kindof wrestling I like, so it's a
big loss.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
I think, and ivan
warsaw was a guy you know, like
you know a lot of theindependent shows.
You look them and you see someguys that are phenomenal in the
ring and you wonder why don'tWWE have these guys?
So Ivan Warsaw was a guy likethat.
You never understand why thebig time WWE or somebody, didn't
take him, or TNA or somebody.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
I did see where he
spent a short amount of time in
NXT.
I don't know why he was therefor a cup of coffee and he was
gone.
It may have just been that herealized financially if it could
have been done For a lot ofpeople.
They think they're making a tonof money in NXT.
They're not making a ton ofmoney.
They're getting housing maybeif they're lucky and a little
small paycheck, but they haven'tgot the big money yet.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Well, that's how you
break in.
At least they got housing.
You know, when I was breakingin there wasn't no housing.
You had to pay for your ownhousing.
You, or four or five guys hadto get in one room together.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, and I tell you
what I'm at the point now of my
age, teddy, you know this whenwe travel, man, I don't double
up with anybody in a roomanymore.
It's my room, that's my space.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
You know I've always
done that.
After I was able to afford toget my own room and stuff, I
always got my own place.
It's enough for me to smell myown farts than to be laying
there and laying up some otherguy's farting too.
Now we got this place stunk upand then I'm looking around some
guy's naked walking around, balls hanging out.
Come on, I can't.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
You're in front of
the TV Move.
Yeah, yeah, right, can you?
Speaker 2 (12:49):
move your balls a
little bit to the side.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Hey, look here.
Also, I want to mention thatFurman Perez has said he wants
to thank you for helping him getready to referee their dog
collar match.
A few years back I guess youwere helping him kind of get
situated in there.
Few years back I guess you werehelping him kind of get
situated in there.
Alright, guys, we're going tostep away real quick because
we've got to let the singers dotheir thing here.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Letters oh, we get
letters.
We get your letters every day,Mailman, mailman mail today,
Reach right in and pull one outthose letters.
I love those letters.
Let's find out what you've gotto say.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Oh boy Mailman mail
today.
Yeah, man, we paid good moneyfor those people to sing that
song.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Did you feel
something hit you in the back?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Yeah, I did.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
It was your change.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
All right, let's see,
we have Steve Morris.
What did y'all think about theJelly Roll skit on Jimmy Kimmel?
Did you see that, teddy?
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Yeah, I saw that last
night with Matt, drew and Randy
and all those guys.
Yeah, I thought it was reallygood.
That's the first time I'vereally seen Jimmy go that far,
you know, for promotingsomething with professional
wrestling.
And I was just sitting therethinking about it and I was just
saying to myself, guys, man,y'all got Jimmy Kimmel, you've
got to do something on here.
You've got to do something onhere.
You got to drop Logan or yougot to drop jelly, something's
(14:25):
got it, cause you got all thisTV time here.
Man, you got to take advantageof it.
And I do see that what theyreally did.
So that that that's, that's oldschool.
That's how you, that's how youdo it.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Yeah, that's.
That's.
That's Logan going through that, the announcer's table, or?
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Jimmy's table.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
And and yeah, I still
say that Logan Paul is probably
one of the most entertainingpersonalities in WWE to me right
now.
I know people hate him and theylove to hate on him.
That's good, he is good.
He is so damn naturally good.
Yeah, I like to say anybodyputs him down.
(15:02):
I mean, I don't know what elsehe does, I'm just telling you
from his standpoint as far aswhat he can do, man, he's
amazing.
All right, let's see, we haveZach Minger in here.
Hey Zach, hey Mac and Teddy, doyou drink coffee every morning?
Speaker 2 (15:19):
No, I don't drink
coffee.
Well, the only time I drinkcoffee is when I'm traveling.
I go by Starbucks and I get athing called caramel macchiato
and I get a decaf coffee and Imake it 180.
That's hot as it could be, andthat's really the only time I
drink coffee.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Yeah, I me.
I just go to the gas stationcoffee pot and just pour some in
a cup.
I'm good with that.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Yeah, you drink
anything, you don't care.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, I do, I can't.
I can't drink that fancy coffee.
It's just too sweet or toobitter to me.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
No, it's just too
expensive for you Well yeah,
that too.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
When he buys that I'm
surprised, because Teddy is
known to be really cheap He'llbuy a good cup of coffee though.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Well, that Starbucks
runs you about six bucks now.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
That's pretty high.
Yeah, it used to be.
What a quarter that I canremember I used to buy coffee.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Oh, Jesus Christ, a
quarter, Come on Matt.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Oh, act like you
don't remember those days, you
probably paid five cents a cupwhen you were around.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
I don't even know
they didn't even have coffee,
then yeah, they probably didn't.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Let's see in the
mailbag we have quentin, who
writes dear teddy.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Uh, bruce, the couch,
right there he's saying hello
to us, is that right, bruce?
Speaker 1 (16:33):
yeah, I'm sorry, man.
Hey, it's good to see you inthere.
They popped you up there and Ididn't even see it.
Producer man, all right, let'ssee uh quentin saying dear teddy
, my girlfriend thinks you'rehot.
I wonder what it is.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Did she see me
burning or something?
Am I?
Speaker 1 (16:52):
on fire.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
It says any advice on
how to get the swagger like you
.
No, I can't give you any advice, player.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
The only thing I can
tell you to do is just keep
watching me Study tapes.
That's what we did in wrestling.
We studied a lot of tapes.
He takes the teddy in his timein the ring.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Pull up some old
school teddy long man, yeah man
Martin's daddy saying holla,holla player.
Holla back at you, player.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
All right, let's see
Another question from the
mailbag what was the worst angleyou were ever a part of?
Speaker 2 (17:30):
I don't think I had
any that was really bad or
nothing I was part of.
I think we did have somethingone time I forget what it was.
I think it was with Doom andthe Road Warriors, and I think
something got all mixed up and, like I said, it wasn't the worst
angle, but just things gotexcuse me, things got all mixed
(17:51):
up and got.
I mean, everything just gotscrewed up and it just turned
into a fiasco.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I mean, is that the
same setup at the time when you
and Paul Ellering ended up in ahair versus hair match?
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Which, at the time,
made zero sense because neither
one of them had much hair.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Paul Edelman has no
hair.
I have no hair, so what is thepurpose of it?
But that was the promoter atthe time.
Just wanting to, you know, touse me to pick on me.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
You know, I don't
know and this is the next
question that comes from Luke onFacebook and I don't know that
I've ever asked you thisquestion.
So this is a good one, Sincethis is Road Trip After Hours.
What was the worst road trip,Teddy?
Speaker 2 (18:35):
can recall, we had a
road trip one time.
I think I had JYD Butchery, godrest their souls.
They were traveling, they wasin the car with me, so we was
trying to make it somewhere.
Oh, we had Buddy Lindell inthere.
God rest their souls.
They were traveling, they wasin the car with me, so we was
trying to make it somewhere.
Oh, we had Buddy Landell inthere.
God rest their souls.
He was in the car.
So we get pulled.
I'm driving, so we get pulledover speeding.
So about this time Buddy Landelljumps out of the car and he's
(18:56):
trying to tell the police who weare.
You know, we're losing rightnow, while you're standing there
holding us and to all he wasjust giving them and I'm like
jesus christ, I'm speeding, soyou're gonna really make this
bad.
And that's exactly what he did.
So he ended up the police callanother police car.
(19:19):
So about that time they gotthere and they made us follow
them all the way down to thepolice station.
And so we got to the policestation and that's where we had
to get out.
We had to pay a fine there oreither go to jail.
But they took us straight tojail because Bill and Dale kept
telling them how much money thatwe were losing and, oh man, I
got somebody actually just sentme a text, as we're sitting here
(19:39):
right now.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Ok, you can't say I'm
not sure.
Just sent me a text, as we'resitting here right now.
Okay, you can't say I'm notsure.
I have to kind of think how I'mgoing to.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Are those some nasty
words?
Speaker 1 (19:55):
No, it's just I'm
trying to think how to word it
correctly, so we'll get back toit in a second, after I think
about it.
All right, okay?
Well, I can't, because we'retalking about it now, so I need
to discuss it now.
Okay, well, I'll just, I can'tbecause we're talking about it
now, so I need to discuss it now.
Okay, they're suggesting.
Somebody said ask Teddy aboutAbby's room.
Stay, did you share a room?
Speaker 2 (20:12):
with Abby.
Oh yeah, I know what they'retalking about.
Okay, well, what happened there?
I never.
It was in Ohio, abdulla theButcher.
So Abdullah, well, you know Iwas smoking weed.
So, abdullah, you know hedidn't smoke weed.
So he, you know, and Abby wascheap.
He was always, you know, and hehad plenty of money, but he's
(20:33):
always cheap and trying to savehis money.
So he come knock on my roomthat night because he couldn't
get no room.
And then all of a sudden, youknow, I'm in my, well, I'm going
to have a seat with you tonight.
Champ, I can't get a room.
I can't get a room.
I'm like God damn it.
Now, you know.
Then I thought about it.
I'm like this is my room, I hadto pay for this, so I'm not
going to let him stop me fromsmoking.
(20:55):
So I just started smoking againin the room and so he had
nowhere to go.
So I made him real miserablethat whole night because he had
to smell that, that that smokeall night.
And and after then I didn'tcare, I just lit up one right
after I had it.
Oh yeah, he was hot boy, was he?
Uh, when are you gonna startsmoking that, champ?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
uh, we're gonna put
that stuff out champ well, when
you get your own room, you canask those questions that's,
that's what I was doing to him, because he just bombarded my
room, just busted in.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
You know, without
being invited did you have the
chic also?
Did you share a room with thechic at any time?
Speaker 2 (21:32):
the iron no, no, no,
that would have been a bit much.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Oh yeah, man I can't
imagine how that would go.
All right, let's see.
Uh, venish, uh is our nextquestion asking there have been
many wrestlers with scarygimmicks.
Was there a wrestler whosepersonality was truly scary?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
well, I never even
met this guy, I just had the
opportunity to see him.
But I thought to me that wouldbe Bruce and Brody yeah, I mean
he looked legit.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
I mean, was there
somebody that you worked with
over time where you thought, youknow, I'm not sure about this
cat.
You know he might legitimatelybe crazy?
Speaker 2 (22:12):
well, how many you
want me to tell you about.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
You know I'm sitting
here thinking when you meet the
