Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello everybody and
welcome to an all new
Wrestling's Road Trip.
After Hours I'm your host, macDavis, and with me each and
every week is my co-host.
He's really.
He is the host.
I'm just the guest here.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Oh wow, Don't try to
butter me up.
That's not true, ladies andgentlemen?
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Our resident Hall of
Famer, Mr Teddy Long.
How you doing, Teddy, I'm good.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Blair.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Man, I hate opening
the show with such bad news, but
today, at the time of thisrecording well, at the time
because I'm not recording we'relive on July 24th of 2025.
We lost Hulk Hogan.
And, man, you talk about news.
You know, I first heard aboutit this morning I can't remember
what time it was and I think Isent something to you almost
(01:16):
immediately saying say hey, youknow, I hear Hulk's passed away.
Man, what shocking kind of news.
I mean, I don't care what youfeel about the guy, he is
professional wrestling well, mything is this I had the utmost
respect for uh hogan.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Uh I, I always got
along with him.
Uh, he took care of me.
You know, he never disrespectedme, he was always nice to me.
Uh, I was kind of a little bituh in some things with him that
a lot of people you know hewouldn't have let in.
He was good friends with KevinSullivan God rest his soul and I
came, I broke in under Kevinand Hot Stuff, eddie Gilbert,
(01:54):
and that's when I met Hogan backin the day, and so me and Evan,
you know, with him and Kevin, Inever forget one time and I was
like I said, this is anothersecret too uh, hogan, I think he
went to back to work in NewYork and then Kevin was still in
WCW, I think, I believe, and Iwill never forget.
I was sitting there and Hogancalled Kevin and uh because he
wanted to finish, wanted to knowhow to beat some guy that night
(02:17):
.
So, uh, I I knew a lot of stuffwith him and one time I had the
opportunity to ride with himand Vince and Vince in the limo
to the TV hotel.
So you know what an honor thatwas, man, and they didn't hold
back.
They kept their conversations.
You know what I mean, becausethey were letting me know hey,
you do what you're supposed todo, then you're going to be all
(02:37):
right, and that's why I did whatI was supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
And you know, you
mentioned Vince McMahon, and he
did put up a post today onTwitter or X, whatever you want
to call it saying the world lostthe treasure today.
Hulk Hogan was the greatest WWEsuperstar of all time, someone
who is loved and admired aroundthe world.
He was a trailblazer, the firstperformer who transitioned from
(03:03):
being a wrestling star into aglobal phenomenon.
His grit and unbridled thirstfor success were unparalleled
and made him the consummateperformer.
He gave everything he had tothe audience, whom he
appreciated, respected and loved.
He leaves us with one of hisfavorite expressions train, take
your vitamins and say yourprayers.
(03:25):
Today we pray for him.
Just one of the many thingsthat I've seen pop up on social
media today once we heard aboutthe loss of Hulk Hogan.
Many more here, teddy, you cansee this is just a few.
Pat Magafee responded, kevinNash, matt Hardy, charlotte
(03:45):
Flair Kane and Adam Pierce, allsaying condolences and shocked
by the loss of Hulk Hogan.
Where were you today when youfirst heard the news today,
teddy?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Matt, you will not
believe this.
This morning I was going togive.
I thought about Jimmy Hart andI was thinking about the.
What's the bud lover?
What's the guy Bubba the LoveSponge, or whatever.
I was thinking about that whenwe were talking about it, about
(04:19):
they were saying this, and JimmyHart said no, this wasn't it.
So I thought about Jimmy and Iswear to you, man.
So I called him this morning, you know, and talked to Jimmy a
little bit and I said to him mylast words.
To him I said, well, you tellHope, you know, I wish him a
speedy recovery, man, and getthe feeling better, man, tell
him I love him.
And Jimmy Hart says oh yeah, ohyeah, oh yeah, baby, because
(04:52):
you always know what the playerdoing, what the player doing,
you know.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
And so I just and
those were the words I said to
him and I swear to you- itwasn't 20 minutes later, after I
talked to jimmy this morning, that I that heard that that he
was dead.
Wow, wow, yeah.
And you know, and there hasbeen a lot of confusion when it
comes to, uh, hulk hogan'shealth lately because bubble the
love sponge have been sayingthat he wasn't doing well, and
then some of the best to HulkHogan's health lately, because
Bubba the Love Sponge had beensaying that he wasn't doing well
and then some of the bestfriends of Hogan's were
reportedly saying, oh, he's fine, it's not a big deal, but he
(05:14):
did have cardiac arrest, ifthat's what I understand.
So I mean he may have beenperfectly fine and just, you
know, a heart attack, you know, comes up and gets you out of
nowhere.
But, yeah, really hard news inthe wrestling community because,
as I've said, you know, andmany people have said, when it
comes to the Mount Rushmoreprofessional wrestling, his name
is always mentioned.
(05:35):
Hulk Hogan's head is always onthat Mount Rushmore.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
He's the greatest of
all time.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, when it comes
to what really made professional
wrestling what it is today, itwas Hulk Hogan.
Simply, we got a lot of peopleeven popping into the chat room.
You can do that too.
By the way, you don't have tospend a penny on this show.
All you got to do is leave acomment.
We'll throw it up on the screenand we'll discuss it, and you
get to do all that for free.
No super chats, nothing elselike that.
(06:02):
And, by the way, if you do verygood and Teddy likes your
letter in particular you'll geta free T-shirt at the end of the
night.
So stick around for that aswell.
Yeah, you better behave.
Yes, joseph is a pretty classylady in here as well.
I still got to send you thepicture of me wearing my road
(06:24):
trip after hours t-shirt.
Yes, you do.
You need to get that pictureand send it to us and we'll
throw it up on the screen here, and it gives us a chance to see
even what some of you guys looklike, because you see us but we
can't see you.
She also had another thing inhere, oh, saying hey, mac and
Teddy, good to have you guys inhere.
Please do us a favor, sharethis around.
(06:45):
Let everybody know that we arelive.
You know one thing I found outtoday, and maybe this is just
something I had completelyoverlooked over all this time.
Did you know where Hulk Hoganwas born?
No, did you know he was aGeorgia boy?
No, I didn't either.
I heard that today that he wasborn in Augusta, georgia, and I
had no either.
(07:06):
I heard that today that he wasborn in Augusta, georgia, and I
had no clue.
Maybe that's been out for along time.
I just always thought he wasthe Florida boy.
You know, I never thought hewas.
You know, having been in anykind of relations to Georgia.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
There you go.
Okay, guys, I see Zach poppingin here as well.
Zach, good to see you.
He says rest in peace.
Hulk Hogan yeah, zeddy, I knowover time when you worked with
Hulk Hogan was your first timecrossing with him in WCW?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I believe so Because
I think he came in part of the
NWO right by the time you wereleaving.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
He was kind of coming
in and you probably crossed
paths.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
No, I was there when
the NWO was there.
I was there for a little whilewhen NWO started.
But, yeah, I was there whenHogan came in.
I think that's where I reallymet him there, because when we
used to go to Florida for thetapings and everything, then
that's when I got with Kevin andKevin introduced me to him.
You know, and that's why youknow we start, you know,
speaking each other down there.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Now you know you're
going to kill me if there's
something big, and I'm notthinking about it.
But was there something withyou and Hulk Hogan, any kind of
angle or storyline you two guyscrossed with?
No, no, never worked together.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
No never worked
together?
No, never.
I don't think I ever didanything in the ring with him.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Didn't even put him
in a tag team match.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
No, something I did,
maybe in WCW, maybe I just can't
remember, but I don't think weever had nothing like a
storyline or anything goingwhere I had to work with him.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, because I was
trying to think of one today and
I just could not come to mind.
It's kind of strange, considering you know how many
times you guys have passed andworked each other in both
companies.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Well, at that time
Hogan was on top.
You know, I think maybe I was areal friend then or I was just
a mid-card guy managing someguys.
So you know I couldn't make itthat high All right guy managing
some guys.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
so you know, I didn't
, I couldn't make it that high.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
All right guys, you
got questions for teddy, we're
gonna answer them.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
We're coming up right
now with mail bag letters.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Oh, we get letters we
get your letters.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Every day, we get
your letters every day, mailman,
mailman, mail.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Today, reach right in
and pull one out.
Those letters.
I love those letters.
Let's find out what you've gotto say, oh boy, Mailman Mail.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Today I still say
that's the best money we ever
spent on those singers.
All right, let's see.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Well, I don't know.
I don't know.
You need to go see if they gaveyou any change back.
That's what you need to belooking.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
God are they horrible
.
Jesus, I wish the microphoneswould work while the thing's
played so you could hear us inthe background, because I'm just
singing along with that song.
I know almost every word too.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
That's why you got it
up there.
You like it.
Yeah, I like it, yeah, just amark for your own song.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
I'm the lead singer
of that song.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Hey, listen, I wanted
to run this by some people
while we got them live.
On Tuesday August the 5th I'mgoing to try to see if I'm
pronouncing this right.
I'm going to be in ChiharaCounty Sunshine Fair.
That's Tuesday August 5th,chihara County Sunshine Fair,
and that's in Colesby, new York.
So I'm trying to see ifanybody's listening to know if
(10:39):
I'm giving the right informationhere.
So Tuesday August the 5th.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Shahara County,
Sunshine Fair.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Colesby, new York,
and I'm going to be also there
on behalf of ImmortalChampionship Wrestling and I'm
going to also be a part of theImmortal Championship
Wrestling's Hall of Fame.
They're going to induct methere and also I'll be the
general manager for the night.
That's Tuesday, august the 5th,shahara County, sunshine Fair,
august 5th, shikari County, sunshine Fair, cozumel, new York
(11:08):
.
Now, if I'm pronouncing that, right, let me know.
If not, please correct me.
Class of 25, immortalChampionship Wrestling.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
That's fantastic.
Actually, I think I've met someof the guys from Immortal
Championship Wrestling.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Oh, they're wonderful
guys, man.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Good people, good
people.
Rocky, retired on X, writes AEW, stated that they are different
than WWE, but with all theconstant blood baths, barbed
wire, headshots and gang attacks, they seem like ECW light.
Do you think they could competewith WWE without the hard edge?
(11:44):
I don't think they couldcompete with WWE without the
hard edge.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I don't think they
could beat anybody.
No, that's just my opinion.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
This is why I love
this show.
He is so damn honest.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
I don't watch him,
man, I mean, and I have my
reason for that, you know.
So I'm yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, I have seen
some of the latest shows and
parts of it are really good andparts of it aren't.
They still are working on thatthing and I wish they'd get it
on track because I do like tosee competition, because
competition for another companyit'll make other people who may
be kind of just resting back alittle bit, get back up on their
feet and start putting the besteffort forward.
(12:27):
If we get that kind ofcompetition, let's see.
We do have pretty classy ladypopping in.
She's asking the question.
She wants to know do either ofy'all have a favorite Hulk Hogan
match or a memory?
Teddy?
Speaker 2 (12:43):
I think Hogan and
Andre was my favorite.
I kind of liked that, you know, because working with Andre you
know Andre is dead serious, hedidn't play and so to watch him
and Hogan knew he had to be onhis P's and Q's too in there
with Andre.
So I thought that was a hell ofa match.
I enjoyed that.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yeah, that was one of
my favorite matches and it was
one of the most pivotal matchesin professional wrestling.
I mean, that was one of myfavorite matches and it was one
of the most pivotal matches inprofessional wrestling.
I think everybody knows.
It seems like the momenteverybody has in mind is him
slamming Andre at WrestleManiaIII.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
And I was just
listening at Hogan too.
The other day.
I was watching him talk abouthow Andre didn't like Savage and
he just beat the hell out ofhim, andre had a reputation for
that.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
If he didn't like you
, he didn't work with you too
well in the ring.
I mean I've seen him actuallyslap some guys around.
I mean, look, you're not goingto pick up Andre unless Andre's
going to let you pick up Andre.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
That's old school man
.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yeah, you had to
learn to get respect from him
for that to happen.
Autism Wrestling.
Saying what do you think about?
Okay, hold on, I think weskipped one.
Maybe here we go.
Johnny.
Saying first Teddy, have youheard of Matty Lemons and what
do you think about him?
We've both worked with himbefore I never, heard of him.
(13:57):
Manny Lemons was his gimmick atthe time that he was in the
independents in Georgia and I'massuming it's the same thing now
.
He would have a lemon and he'dcome out.
He kind of had that old schoolboa around his neck that were
yellow and green and you knowkind of lemon and lime kind of
look, and he would eventuallyuse the lemon.
(14:18):
But he's a good independentperformer.
Uh, you know, teddy, you'veprobably seen you probably go.
Oh, I remember him but I thinkhe's in and you might, maybe you
guys may know this.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Oh yeah, I, I I'd
seen this guy in waco, texas.
He come to a show there.
I was there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he sings andoh yeah, yeah, yeah, I seen him.
Yeah, I thought he was veryentertaining in Waco Texas.
I remember that night now.
Yeah, he was pretty good.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
I think he has his
own company.
Now I'm not sure if he runs hisown company or not, but I know
Manny.
Manny, he was a good guy.
He was enjoyable in the backtoo, which is sometimes hard to
find guys that are friendly, whowill talk to you in the back,
and other guys who just haveattitudes.
Manny never had an attitude.
Lance, speaking of old schooland independent days, I know,
(15:07):
scott, hey Scott, good to seeyou in here.
Shout out to Mad, mac Davis andTeddy from KSL, todd, lance,
all the players and let's see, johnny, what's you got here for
us and rest in peace, hulk Hogan, and we'll miss you brothers.
Yeah, that is as we started theshow off.
The loss of Hulk Hogan, notsomething that I think anybody
(15:28):
was expecting to be happeninganytime soon.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
No man.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Look, I do have a
question in here.
I think we answered this awhile ago, but I'll throw it at
you anyhow.
Tyler, on Facebook with wordthat Hulk Hogan passed away.
Did you ever work directly withHulk or do you have any
memories of Hulk?
Speaker 2 (15:47):
No, I never worked
directly with him.
All the memories I have is justevery time we met, he was just
one of the nicest guys in theworld.
That's it.
Anytime, he was always nice.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Let's see Johnny
saying Manny has his own.
Yes, that's what it is DevotionChampionship Wrestling.
Yeah, johnny, if you see him, tell Manny that Mac Davis said
hello.
He may not remember me, I thinkwe've only worked together
maybe once or twice, but, like Isaid, he's a guy I remember
because of his attitude in theback and it was always good.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yeah, tell him I said
hello, he's a guy I remember
because of his attitude in theback and it was always good.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Yeah, tony might say
hello too.
Yeah, let's see, pretty classylady.
That segment of y'all talkingabout the Jacob Batu controversy
was hilarious.
I'm trying to remember what wetalked about.
Oh, oh, before using the N-wordin the song.
That's what it was.
Yeah, yeah, that was onSportskeeda, if you guys want to
see it.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
They do it every day.
You hear it every day, so Idon't understand what the
problem is.
That's why I don't understandwhy black people keep getting
mad at people for calling themthe N-word when they're saying
them rap songs Our own peopleare saying it to us.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
But now look here,
teddy, it's not just the black
people, the white people wereyelling about it too, like I'm
like, just sit down and shut up.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
You know, get over.
It ain't gonna ever stop.
It'll be till the end of time.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
So let it go, don't
let it bother you, no more jesus
christ, because the more itbothers you, the more it's never
gonna go away yeah, it'seternity.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Okay, it'll be here
when we're gone and when others
come, it'll still be here.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Truth, all right.
Becca the Wrecker writes.
One of the wrestlers that willforever be linked to Hulk Hogan
is Andre the Giant.
Any memories of Andre?
Speaker 2 (17:30):
No, I met Andre.
I got a picture in there.
Now I can show you that I waswith Andre Thunderbolt,
patterson, gordon Soley, and wewere at Center Stage in Atlanta,
georgia, and he was nice to me.
I spoke to him and everything, and he spoke, you know, and,
like I said, I you know, I knew, you know to just speak and not
try to carry on no conversationbecause I don't know this man.
So just you know to speak tohim and he was nice to me.
(17:52):
That was, that was enough forme.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Okay, I've always
heard a rumor and maybe maybe
you've heard this or can confirmit, but I heard Andre may have
had a gas issue because of allthe wine and beer that he would
drink and he could lay out pastgas for a long, extended period
of time.
Were you ever witness to one ofthose?
No, no, no.
I did hear one time he got onthe elevator with some woman who
was stuck up and when theyclosed the doors he let one
loose.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
He might have done
that.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
He did it on purpose.
Yeah, all right, this is one ofthe favorite things you love
here and so let me throw it atyou here.
It's the Name Association fromDonna in North Carolina.
So we've got a list of namesand you give me what comes to
mind, any memories or justwhatever comes to mind.
First one is Al Snow.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Al Snow, great guy.
I had a chance to work with himwhen I first went to WWF.
I was a referee in there and AlSnow gave me a nickname.
He started calling me Bubbles,so I don't know.
And I saw him, I guess,somewhere.
I just left some signing and Isaw Al there and I walked right
up to him Bubbles, you know.
(19:07):
So, yeah, he gave me that name.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
And look here.
You know Al may watch this showfrom time to time, if he's like
all the rest of us here.
And if he does, al and youhappen to be listening.
What is Bubbles all about?
Tell us, does Al and you happento be listening?
What is Bubbles all about?
Tell us, what is Bubbles?
I'd love to know.
All right, here's another onefor you, chris Benoit.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Oh God, man, what a
great guy.
Great guy.
God rest his soul.
I never will forget.
One night we were staying inMilwaukee, wisconsin, and we did
the show in Green Bay, in GreenBay, and we had to drive back
to Milwaukee.
And it was me, benoit, andNancy Sullivan God rest her soul
too and I was driving and ittook us I swear man 10, it took
us 12 hours almost to get backfrom a 150, 30, 50-mile drive.
(19:59):
I guess what it was, man, Imight've been, might not been
there, it might've been fivehours or six hours or something,
but it was just.
That's how we couldn't drivethat fast.
But uh and uh, chris was just,he'd give you the shirt off his
back, man.
And uh, I, I, I never asked youthis.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
I don't think, teddy,
maybe I have, or maybe you
rather not discuss it, but what?
Do you think that Chris Benoitcould do that to his wife and
child, or do you think maybesomething else was going on?
Speaker 2 (20:32):
I can't speak on that
.
You know, Chris, that neverappeared to be nothing like that
.
You know what I mean.
So I just I don't want to speakon it because I don't have a
clue.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
I know a lot of
people trying to blame it on the
fact that he had a lot ofheadshots taken from chairs and
his mind was a little scrambledup.
But I would think you would seesomething like that coming a
mile away, unless they just snap.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
But it was
unfortunate, but one of the
things it's like Hogan too.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Chris Benoit and Hulk
Hogan have both been connected
to controversies.
Yet we have to always rememberand I hate to say this because
people think I'm being reallycold but in the sport of
professional wrestling not inthe wrestler's personal life,
but in the sport of professionalwrestling Hulk Hogan, despite
(21:19):
any of the controversies he gotinto, is still one of the most
recognizable pro wrestlingpeople that there is on planet
Earth.
And I think the same thing camewith Chris Benoit.
He had an incredible talent andyou can't deny the talent.
And I hate when they hide someof these guys and videos on WWE
(21:39):
and all the other platforms, because you know the controversy
.
There's a lot of people wholose out when that happens.
Look at the Cosby show justrecently Was it Malcolm Jamal
Warner, I think?
He passed away and because ofwhat happened to Bill Cosby, his
shows could never run on TVagain.
They will not show those.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
That's not true.
No, really, I look at it.
I don't look at the cause ofsure.
I mean, when I was a littleyoung I kind of looked at that.
I don't really care about it,but it's on a guy Bravo or
something like that.
I can't remember, I see it allthe time.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
That's wow, because I
always heard that that show had
been canceled and they wouldnot show it anymore.
And I'm thinking of people likeMalcolm Jamal Warner.
If that's the case, man, allthe residuals gone.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
No, that's not true.
That show still comes on.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Okay, well, that's
good to hear because those were
still funny shows, despite whatyou may think.
They were funny shows.
Blonde Twist Jones in the roomhey, good to see you, my friend.
Uh, your t-shirt should bearriving at any time now.
By the way, I asked the postoffice, teddy.
I said I went and dropped offyou know some orders that we had
(22:49):
and I said how long does ittake for these shirts to get to
where they're going with themail today?
Because I noticed some of themail comes to my house from just
one town over is a week, 10days.
It takes.
It takes 10 days, folks, fromthe time I drop it to the
mailbox to the time it gets toyour post office box.
That's ridiculous 10 days.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
You live in a small
town, man.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Oh man, I'm hearing
that's everywhere, because a lot
of times my secretary, who's inanother county, over from where
we are, she'll send out mail.
She's in Georgia too, over fromwhere we are, she'll send out
mail.
She's in georgia too, by theway, she'll send out mail.
It'll go from georgia tojacksonville, florida, to
atlanta, to macon, then to thehometown place.
(23:31):
It's like it's way too manystops, and why is it going to
florida?
Speaker 2 (23:35):
quick put behind them
chief stamps yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Jamie, Johnny, I mean
, I saw some people on the
Internet disrespecting Hogan.
I'm just.
I think you say you'redisgusted with it.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, yeah, that's
right, man, anybody would stoop.
You know as low as after a manpasses this.
You know to discredit them, youknow that's as low as you can
be.
But there are some people outthere.
I can tell you that.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Oh, I've seen them
today.
I've seen some of those postson social media and I mean it's
like don't forget that theindividual you're talking about
also has a family who's alsoseeing some of this stuff.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
And these people,
these people here, they don't
have no family.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
No, no, that's true.
They probably live in theirmama's basement too.
Scott saying hey guys, one ofmy favorite run-ins was JBL as
WWE champion and Teddy Long wasalways putting him in different
title defenses.
I always pulled for JBL toretain, go figure, but do you
have any memories of that time, teddy?
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Of course I do.
Jbl was a man that I had topick on.
Okay, if you can remember, Ialways went to him like this JBL
, I got some bad news and I gotsome good news First.
First, I'm going to give youthe bad news.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
You're going to go
one-on-one.
Yeah, jbl's expressions too,and I've said this before when
you worked with him.
Jbl, you hear a lot of timesabout how much of an ass he
could be and he was a bully orwhatever.
But man, he could perform inthe ring.
When he got in there he couldsell anything and he was so good
(25:22):
at it.
He was kind of like a littlebit of a Vince McMahon to me,
where he would feed into thatcharacter way over the top and
really give you a taste ofsomething nasty.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Well, when you work
close to Vince, you know like we
did, man, you know, we knowwhat Vince was high on selling.
That's Vince made that clear.
He told me one day this is itright here?
Okay, yeah, yeah.
So we understood what it means.
Don't go overboard, over thetop, you know.
Just settle.
If it actually really happenedto you, you know what I mean.
(25:51):
So that's what I alwaysremember too.
I didn't have to talk.
Sometime I had a facial I couldgive you that's's what works so
well.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
It's just the eyes,
the facial.
How many times have you watchedpeople like Johnny Carson or,
for some of those who are notthat old, david Letterman?
A lot of times.
The way they would make theirface look when they said
something sold it.
It made the impact that theywere looking for, and that's the
same thing that we do inprofessional wrestling, really,
(26:19):
when it comes to TV.
Let's see.
Pretty classy lady.
I'm only two hours away fromyou and it took about a week to
get here.
Yeah, there you go, perfectexample.
Let's see what else we have inhere.
We've got some more names toget to if we have enough time.
Johnny, yeah, I meant to saydisguised or disgusted.
(26:40):
I don't know why people woulddead respect Hulk Hogan.
Yeah well, we get what you'resaying though.
Yeah, you're right, though it'sjust.
You know, making disparagingcomments about Hulk Hogan, today
especially, is uncalled for.
All right, here's some morenames for you.
Teddy, uh, name association.
(27:02):
Uh, the next one is a youngthat's being specified here a
young, drew mcintyre oh yeah, agreat guy.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Man had a great time
working with him.
You know, vince mcmahon put meand him in a storyline where he
was the chosen one and, uh, hemade me, you know, bow down on
my knees and start talking aboutmy grandkids, and so that broke
me.
So now I gotta follow the rulesand do whatever he says do.
But uh, anything put this putme and I enjoyed doing it.
I gave it 100 because I knowyou know what, what it meant
(27:36):
when it came to drew mcintyrewas Drew.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Did he feel a lot of
pressure because of the comments
that Vincent made about him Notas far as being the chosen one?
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Well, not really.
You know, it's a work.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yeah, but I think a
lot of guys in the back didn't
think so.
You know how they are becausethere was always rumors.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Well, everybody
wanted to be in that top spot oh
yeah.
If it's for you, it's for you.
If it's not, it's not.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
All right, the next
name on the list here.
I know we've talked about MaeYoung, but the fabulous Moolah I
had the chance to meet her man.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
She was outstanding.
What a great lady.
Her and Mae Young both of them, man.
Every time they'd come to TVI'd run straight to them, man,
because they was alwaysentertaining, glad to see you,
you know, made you feel welcome, man.
So, yeah, moolah was really agreat woman.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
The next name.
I don't know that we've evermentioned this name either Jim
Cornette.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Oh yeah, I like Jim
Cornette.
The only thing and the realreason I like Jim Cornette is
Jim Cornette is real, he's goingto tell you just exactly how it
is and he's going to tell youthe truth.
That's another thing.
So a lot of people don't likehim for that.
But you know, like I said, hespoke up for me one time and it
wasn't just I mean me and himalways got along.
I think he liked me, but heknew it was wrong.
(28:53):
And he spoke up for me one time.
So so I'd have to say you know, yeah, man, thank you Jimmy.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
All right, the last
one on the list and about the
last one we have time for todayMean Gene Okerlund.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Great guy.
I had a chance to meet with himand God rest his soul.
Bobby Heenan, I was in WCW andthey both were there and they
stopped me and I swear.
They started talking to me andI never will forget.
Gene Okerlund was talking to meand I never will forget.
Gene Oakland was talking toBobby and Bobby said if Vince
McMahon knew what you were downhere doing, he would blow you up
.
Something like that, they said, and I didn't really pay that no
(29:27):
attention, you know, becauseI'm thinking I ain't never going
to New York or nowhere.
But anyway, though, they toldme those words and I never did
forget them, and when I didn'thave a chance to tell either one
of them, you know that Iremembered that because they
passed, but those were the wordsthat they told me.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Has there ever been
anybody that's come close to
either one of those twopersonalities for you?
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Lola.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Yeah, yeah, I almost
consider him part of that
package, I guess, because heblended in with him a little bit
.
But I miss the days of a BobbyHeenan and a Gene Okerlund.
I think there's still a needfor those type of characters in
today's wrestling and we justdon't have them.
And we need to because theybrought, I mean, me, and Gene
was kind of over the top, but hewas the Walter Cronkite of
(30:15):
professional wrestling.
You trust what he was going tosay.
I think we have them, it justain't that no more Michael, also
saying rest in peace, hulkHogan.
Again, if you just joined theshow and you have not heard,
hulk Hogan has passed away atthe age of 71 of a cardiac
arrest, and we wish the familywell.
(30:36):
Yeah, man, teddy, before we getout of here, you want to pick
somebody's question for today?
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Probably, hmm.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Let's see, we had
about the memories of Hulk Hogan
, if you had any.
We had Andre the Giant, thequestion about Andre the Giant.
I don't know, teddy, I'm tryingto help out here.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Well, all right, well
, I'd like the one with that old
school, with Andre, I like thatone.
Let's make them a T-shirt, yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Let me make sure I
get the right one here.
That's Becca the Wrecker.
So, becca, I've already gotyour information.
I know because you sent me anemail, because you sent me an
email, so that's how I can getthis to you.
So easy enough.
All right, becca the Wrecka,congratulations.
You just won yourself a RoadTrip After Hours.
T-shirt.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
And it'll get to you
in about 10, 12 days.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
It just depends on
the post office.
All right, wait, we do have onemore question popping in here
just before we get out.
Cm Punk fan.
I had to ask you what is yourfavorite time working with CM
Punk.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Anytime you work with
CM Punk it's a favorite time.
He's a great, he's a nice guyand he's very entertaining too.
So I've always been a big fanof Punk.
He's always been nice and greatto me.
So you know, god bless him, man.
But anytime you're working withPunk it's always great.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
All right, anything
coming up for you, teddy.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Well, I'm going to
try this one more time, okay.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
On.
Speaker 2 (32:01):

a while ago to tell you if youwere right or wrong.
Speaker 2 (33:03):

respond, so I guess nobody in
New York are listening to us.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Scott just popped in
real quick Thoughts on working
with Doom versus the FourHorsemen.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Oh, learned a lot
right there.
Those matches there were whatyou go to school with.
Know when, working with themguys you learn.
I mean, I learned, I goteducated there and I had a great
time because working with those, those teams there, they worked
.
You didn't run around, sitaround, you didn't have time for
no breaks, brother, you worked.
Speaker 1 (33:30):

(33:51):
here, teddy.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
I'm going to give a
big shout out to Denise in case
she's listening.
I don't know whether she'slistening today or not, but,
denise, I'll.
