(00:00):
Yeah, either Detroit Wheels. Doug. This is John Bobby and this I'm
talking to Doug. What did youget yourself into, bo doll? Well,
you know there is no doubt aboutthat. John Bobby extraordinary promoter from
the Token Lounge and many other clubshere in Detroit. John, first off,

(00:22):
I just want to thank you foryou know, accepting the challenge of
roasting one of your best friends, because you know this could because you're perfect,
this could end ugly, you know, but we could hopefully it will.
Know are on it. We'll upall right, Okay, the night

(00:45):
Well, I have to say that, John, I just found out that
the ticket sales are are going veryvery well according to everybody over there at
the Polish American Congress. So I'mexcited about that. But people should get
their tickets in advance before the nightof so they're not left, you know,

(01:06):
hanging at the door, although Ithink they're going to try and even
possibly open up another room to accommodateif if we get to that. But
because it's it's for a good cause. And I'm telling you what a lineup
we have. I mean, justthe roasters themselves are great. Plus we're
able to roast you, and weget a great dinner, open bar,
and you can a concert with DaveEdwards. From the look, I mean,

(01:30):
you can't beat it for a Thursdaynight. I'm also going to be
auctioning off some of my rock memorabilia, and I understand that Ted Nugent has
donated because he found out about thisthrough Jason Hartless Senior, and he donated
all kinds of memorabilia. I don'tknow what it is yet, I haven't
seen it. Nobody will tell meand I and I believe John he sent

(01:53):
a video as well, So ohmy god, well I wouldn't I wouldn't
be I mean all I said,And if that's gonna send you anything,
you know, it's gonna be good. Yeah. I'll be roasted and hopefully
toasted at the same time. Butso, so here's how the lineup is
gonna is gonna work. Mike Staff, who you know worked with me at

(02:15):
both Wheels and Riff UH, isgoing to be the MC for the night.
So he'll be handling all the dutiesup there on the podium and bringing
everybody on one at a time. And we've got Jim Johnson, who legendary
radio UH. You know performer hereand on air disc jockey. Uh.

(02:36):
And then we've got bush Man,who works with me here at iHeartRadio,
followed by Jason Hartless. And thenwe've got Trudy Daniels from the Wheels along
with Gary Graff. Uh. Thisone's gonna be interesting, John, because
you know, Gary is very youknow, refined and reserved, and I've

(02:59):
never seen him say anything bad aboutanybody, even in a rock review.
So this this could be, thiscould get ugly. Well, they just
let leg Gary be up there andbe nice and soft. Then I'll come
up there. I'll take care ofthe garbage that we need to take care
of. Yeah, that's kind ofhow we haven't set up. You're gonna
be coming on last as the FosterBrooks of Celebrity Roast. Now, yes,

(03:23):
and Fossy Brooks used to be drugup there, but he needs to
pretend. This might not be apretend for me. See, I'm like,
you know, nine gym beams. And then you're gonna give me a
microphone I can say whatever I want. I don't hope that place has insurance.
I was talking to some of yourfriends up there at the Token Lounge
the other night. And they're going, oh yeah, John plans on having

(03:44):
at least eight to ten Jim beamsbefore he goes up there. I go,
what what are you talking about?Well, you're to do a roast,
you do it right, You mightbe roasting yourself before you go up
there and roast. Yeah. Well, you know, I don't know how
this is gonna all, uh,you know, work out in the end,
but I'm ready to take it.Like Tom Brady. That's the one.

(04:04):
When I watched the Tom Brady roast, I knew it would probably never
get that off the charts, butuh, what I was watching was Tom
Brady and how he handled it.And he just sat there steadfast, uh,
smiling through the whole thing. Yeah. Well but I think I think,

(04:24):
I mean, my opinion, itwas kind of tasteless on that role
roast. I mean, there wasa lot of good, great, you
know, great comedians up there,a lot of football players, but it
seems like they were trying to cussand they should have been cussed, and
they were saying some really nasty thingsabout Tom's wife and uh the one guy
that committed suicide from the murder, and it's like, sometimes you want to

(04:45):
know into jokes, but you wantto be sometimes class you know, classy
and tasteful, you know, Andthat's how I'm gonna, you know,
portray us. I'm not gonna goout there and make it look like you're
not gonna be able to call methe next day. You're gonna be able
to call me the next ding andsay thank you for you know, ro
to me. But I'm gonna keepit clean and funny, and that's how
it should be. I mean,we'll be your Dean Martin roast. I
mean, not one curse word. And those were ten times fungier than the

(05:08):
Tom Brady ones. I almost haveto agree with you on that, although
I wish we could get Nicky Glazerto come in and yeah, nice,
she's good. So this all startedJohn by several you know people, several
fathers from Warren, the City ofWarren, including Judge John and Terry and

(05:30):
David. They asked me to bethe Grand Marshal of the Polish Day Parade.
So that is later on in August, and I'll be the Grand Marshal
and it'll culminate with a big paradeand then end at the City of Warren
building with a big concert and ourgood friend Tom Bama Rito is putting together

(05:50):
right now the finishing touches on andhopefully maybe we'll be able to announce it
at the roast who the headlining actis is going to be for the parade.
So I'm pretty excited about that.I did get a little taste of
this last year because if you recall, I was asked to roast what part

(06:13):
of the roast team Vinnie Dombrowski fromSponge Right, I mean, I get
you a couple of pointers on it. I think I think you did,
actually, but they only had theyonly had four roasters. It didn't last
very long, and uh you know, Vinnie did most of the roasting up
there, I think. With apanel of seven people, memorabilia to get

(06:36):
to and the band the look withDave Edwards, I'm just gonna thank everybody.
I may have a few zingers foryou, but outside of that,
I, like you said, I'dlike to keep it clean and have a
good time. And most importantly,John, this is really to raise some

(06:57):
money for the Polish to Parade.Who really, uh you know, got
kicked out of ham Trammick. Theyhad that Polish Day Parade going for thirty
years and now unable to put itoff there they they ended up doing it
in Warren now for the last coupleof years. And I'm excited to help
out because I am, as youknow, of Polish heritage. So uh

(07:20):
yeah, once again, I knowby the way you drink that that was
the one key thing I was alittle worried about. Uh you know,
the open bar situation where you knowyou can get free drinks all night long.
So who knows, people in theaudience, it could be dangerous,
you know, it could be dangerous. But well, like I said,

(07:42):
man, you know it's for agood cause and I'm looking forward to it.
You got a great panel of peoplecoming out to help do the roast
and yourself out there, and Icongratulations to you for actually being the main,
main grand poop out there for theparade and for being roast d Well,
you never know after this one theymay pick you. But feeling ill,

(08:07):
I got one. Oh oh okay, all right, well John,
once again, thank you so muchfor being the anchor of the roasters,
and uh, once again, Ilook forward to it. It's coming up
on May thirtieth. Let me justtell the people one go to Polish Day
Parade dot com and you'll find alink there for the tickets, or you'll
find the poster up on the WheelsFacebook page, also on the WLZ website,

(08:33):
and on my Facebook page, yourFacebook page, Jim Johnson's Facebook page,
So there's a lot of links outthere to get your tickets. But
once again they were telling me thatthey had over thirty five tables sold with
the possibility of only doing forty unlessthey expand the room. So I do

(08:54):
think that, you know, peopleprobably might want to get their tickets in
advance. Once you get in,you do absolutely you want to get those
out there and aga you don't wantto be waiting outside and run the trucks.
Ten bucks for a cup, soyou can just put your glass up
to the wall. Listen. Itstarts at six. There is free parking
there. It's the American Polish SentryClub. Now that's not the one.

(09:16):
Once again, that is not theone in Sterling Heights. It's the one
in Warren and it looks to melike it's at Shaner and fourteen mile between
Hoover and Shanner on fourteen miles,So people can google it there and let's
have some fun all right, John, well, brother, thank you so
much for being a part of thisonce again. I'm excited for asking me.

(09:39):
I really appreciate it too, youknow. Yeah, I'm excited to
have you up there. Well, hey, listen, you know we're like
best buds. So how could Igo up there? If anything? I
thought, Well, if somebody getsa little out of whack, I can
always use John to just you know, kick their acid and kick them out
of the building. I plum themright up. All right. Well,

(10:01):
John, Bobby Rock, promoter herein the MotorCity and anchor of the roast.
Thanks for checking in, buddy, and I'm excited. I'm excited to
have you up there, and Ithink we're going to have a great time.
And if you need to excuse everybody, grab those tickets then Doug,
I will see you soon, mybrother. All right, my man,
thank you once again. That isMay thirtieth, all right, thanks celebrity,

(10:24):
Roast of your doc. I hopeyou can come on out once again.
