It's a podcast about saints, from people who aren't. Take a trip through the liturgical calendar with comedian/theologian Anna Dominey and her saint obsessed friend/comedian Matthew Chadourne. Every other week this pair of non-believers will go through the life, death and after-life of that day’s obscure saint. In an attempt to understand what it means to be "good".
This month it's a yuletide deep cut as we follow the life of Saint Wenceslaus. You may know him better as the “king” from that one Christmas carol you don’t know the words to, but we have you covered with a deep dive into the lyrics (which are surprisingly nice) as well as a discussions of his toxic family dynamics, repeated incursions on Prague, and Anna spirited defense of sexual desecration. Plus, Anna wins big temporarily M...
Come along with us as we creep into the life of Saint Winifred and find out why she may have the most appropriate and important patronage of all time. You’ll also hear about sneaky churches, terrible princes, abundant wells, and Matthew’s innovative solution for sexism (#smite). Plus, Anna isn’t sick and Matthew ties to do something (anything) about America by donating to Feeding America.
If the life of Saint Therese of Lisieux teaches us one thing it’s to savor the precious time we have with the people we really love (as well as the people we can’t stand) and maybe commemorate that lovewith professional portraits. Along the way we talk about maybe being too attached to your sisters, not bugging the Pope for every little thing, why Phoenix is a bad idea, and get bogged down more than once about the obsolete photo de...
“Nobody’s perfect but some people could be a hell of a lot better.” This quote from Matthew pretty much summarizes the life of Saint John Chrysostom. A champion of the poor and a great orator but also am antisemite and a tosser of ladies. Plus, Anna finds out there is such a thing as a free lunch and Matthew gains more power.
And show off your love for this podcast with an exclusive Saint Agoostine t-shirt.
Maybe not the first but certainly the best (maybe) Saint Dominic: Saint Dominic de Guzmán is this episode's focus. Join us for terrible visions, dog faced boys, failed fiancé retrieval, and distinct lack of shoes. Plus, Matthew lives through another Oxford Comedy Festival (if you call this living) and Anna tries to form a union of one.

Into every life a little rain must fall and in the case of life of Saint Swithun, maybe too much. Honestly, we don’t find out too terribly much about his life but we do get to hear about his holy holes, his surf banquets, his many charter witnesses, his love of outdoor graves, and his facility with eggs. Plus, Anna in in a moral quandary about ethical milk substitutes and Matthew runs into Anna in the most unlikely of places.
We kick off #PopeGirlSummer with eh first of thirteen episodes (or possibly the last) about all the Pope Leos out there starting with number one: Pope Leo I. Also know as Pope Leo the Great he was anything but as he tortured, murdered, and intimidated people with his large hat to secure his papacy. Plus, Anna survives a crash and Matthew makes it through another half-term break.

Matthew’s audio is messed up this episode but not nearly as messed up as the life of Pope Saint Gregory VII. Sure he was Pope but does that mean he was any good? He was elevated by a mob to make an army, centralize corruption, and getthe most strongly worded letter in history Plus, Anna and Matt eulogize a nice Pope who really flew over the very low bar set by previous ones (see the above sentences).

In what be out first (and possibly only) topical episode we delve into the short but very sweet life of the first millennial saint ( as of 27 April 2025) Blessed Carlo Acutis. From his early days as a sweet boy just trying to help his friends through their parent’s divorce to his journey to becoming God’s influencer it’s just one nice thing after another with this kid. He’s a total sweetheart and we love him and definitely don’t de...
Look, we have nothing against Whales but we keep doing these episodes anyways. This time it's Saint David under our snarky microscope adn we talk about him and a ton of other stuff too. Honestly, the Welsh have no reason to get mad at us because we actually have so many asides we hardly have any time to talk badly about their, um, country? I guess? Also, support Anna's sister Emily in her marathon run for refugees. It would...
This episode we step up the moral clarity with Blessed Claire of Rimini. Make no mistake this is no Poor Claire, this lady had it all: delicate clothes, obliging servants, poisoned frogs, and all the pincers she could eat. Plus, Anna and Matt ruin several films you might like (sorry).
Please rate, review, and subscribe wherever you can. It really helps the show. And tell a friend! Thanks.
This episode we get dressed up in our best iron garments and talk about the life and times of Margaret of Hungary. Starting out strong and predictably as a rich kid (a fact she totally hated or so she said) she went on to found a monastery, kidnap some people for feminism, do a lot of counting, and even managed to bounce back from a pillow based controversy to become a saint eventually. Plus, Anna makes the ultimate sacrifice to ge...
Everybody be on your best behavior because we’ve got an actual expert on saints on the podcast.
Please enjoy this interview with author/artist/scholar Amy Jeffs the author of the new book: Saints: A New Legendary of Heroes, Humans, and Magic (the perfect Christmas present and available wherever good books are sold). It’s a fun interview where about the book, how she came to be fascinated by saints, medieval fashion, unexpected cher...
Lock yourself in this today and enjoy the tales of the life of Saint Christina of Markyate. A nice lady who was prone to be locked up by her parents, creepy archbishops, and even her "friends" but it was all worth it in the end for her to gain her miraculous powers of being able to read minds and salads(?). Plus, Anna has some miraculous good news and Matthew is angry at everybody except people he isn’t.

We start off strong with a cool name and then it’s all downhill from there as we talk about the life and times of Saint Pelagia the Harlot. A crowd of people looking at her ass (by which we mean donkey) leads to a nosey bishop making her feel bad for selling her ass (by which we mean her ass) and then it’s all fake eunuchs and eating disorders until she’s dead on a pile of olives. We also try to answer the age old question of wheth...
This month’s episode is pure poetry as we bust into the life and times of the highly recommended Saint Giles. He’s a sweet, if chronically misunderstood, man who loved animals and solitude and we discuss his close relationship with a deer, a king who does not know when he’s not wanted, his “expertise” in lactation, and whether PETA is front for Big Meat. Plus, in a shocking move, Anna Climbs a hill and, predictably, Matthew has ano...
In today’s episode we try to figure out how important being real is to being a good person with the life(?) and after life of Saint Philomena. From humble beginnings as a pile of dust, she became the daughter of a Greek King and, after several false starts, a martyr. Along he way we meet ham wives, questionable nuns, and have a run in with our old nemesis, Emperor Diocletian (booooooo!). Plus, Anna and Matthew try desperately to sc...
Were back in Italy (do we ever really leave) with the life and times of Saint Benedict of Nursia. In this episode we uncover a royal conspiracy discover the origins of HR departments and get deep into the life of Saint benedict and his sister (she comes into the story late or was she there the whole time!?). Plus, Anna and Matthew express real gratitude to all the fine folks who came to our live show.

In our first ever live show we talk about the life of Saint Kevin. A solitary guy who isn’t afraid to throw a lady out of his cave to get what he wants. A friend to all the animals whether they are blackbirds, geese, or otters but skylarks can go straight to hell! Plus, our audience sees a menagerie of animals and we establish that one member of a couple is more bless than the other (and why).
