Pete Hegseth — the U.S. Secretary of Defense — is talking about civil war over Confederate monuments. This is not some fringe online rant. It is the top of the Pentagon normalizing dangerous rhetoric while Project 2025 is already being implemented through executive orders.

In this episode, we break down:

  • The Dallas protests in support of Texas Democrats who broke quorum to stop Abbott’s redistricting push
  • Project 2025 and the executive orders already signed into action
  • Why grassroots activism is not optional — and how to find your role in the fight
  • How Texas Democrats are showing us what it looks like to truly defend democracy

This isn’t a someday problem. It’s happening now.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Democracy isn't a spectator sport, but, judging by
the turnout in Dallas thisweekend, texas Democrats are
literally risking their freedomto protect us from political
rigging, and too many people aresitting at home watching it
happen.
If you can't show up whendemocracy is on the line, don't

(00:26):
be shocked when it's gone.
I'm Christy Chanel and this isSassy Politics.
Welcome to MindFuck Monday, because the news should come
with a trigger warning.

(00:47):
I'm Christy Chanel and today, protests, boycotts, christian
nationalism, Project 2025,algorithm hacks and how our
Secretary of Defense is casuallynormalizing civil war talk, is
casually normalizing civil wartalk, and none of this is far
off, or even hypothetical, because it's already happening.

(01:10):
Stick with me until the end, because I'm going to tell you
exactly how we fight back, onelink at a time.
Here's what went down TexasDemocrats broke quorum to stop
Greg Abbott's latestredistricting push.

(01:30):
Why?
Because Abbott is on recordsaying Donald Trump asked him to
find five more Republicans, andthat's not some cute political
metaphor, that's stacking thedeck for permanent control of
the House.
The Democrats did what theTexas Constitution allows them

(01:53):
to do they left the state tostop the vote.
Some went to Illinois and nowI'm hearing some have gone to
California.
This is legal.
It's constitutional.
It's a historic move thatprotects all of us, not just
Texans, from a rigged politicalmap.

(02:14):
Abbott's response Arrestwarrants.
Trump's response Call in theFBI.
That's a federal overstep.
No laws were broken.
The FBI has no business in astate-level political standoff.
I went to downtown Dallas tostand with the Democrats, but

(02:36):
the turnout wasn't what itshould have been.
The energy wasn't there andmaybe that's because the numbers
weren't there.
I went to the no Kings protestand the energy was electric.
You could feel it, and it'sprobably because the crowd was
enormous.
There was no crowd here, and Idon't know if it's because

(02:59):
there's not enough informationthat's being allowed to be
pumped through the media, whichI think is really a big player
here, or if it's just peoplefeel like they get tired.
You know they're not willing togo out there in 100 degree heat
.
It was 100 degrees, butdemocracy doesn't come with a

(03:23):
temperature limit.
You know what I mean.
If you can't stand with themright now, don't expect them to
be there for you later.
They are risking it all rightnow.
Now's your time.
Let's talk about Texas beef.

(03:43):
No, not dinner Money.
Billionaire-owned beef brandsare funding MAGA packs.
Those packs are pushing thesame policies that strip away
rights, dismantle publiceducation and weaponize law
enforcement.
Every dollar you spend on thosebrands feeds the machine.

(04:08):
So here's what we do Boycottthe billionaire beef, support
local ranchers, support smallfarms.
Starve the machine Withoutstarving the communities.
No, secretary of Defense, peteHegseth, not a fringe preacher,

(04:32):
not a random social media voice, the man in charge of our
military Hold on, not just tyinghim.
He put it out there.
He put that message out that hesupports this.
So I just want to make thatclear.

(05:05):
He did this.
One vote per household, cast bythe man.
That means your vote gone, ladies gone.
This isn't a joke.
It's not satire.
It's the quiet part said outloud from the top of the chain
of command.
Did you me?

(05:27):
They want to take your voteaway.
I don't know how many differentways they need to say it to you
.
I don't know how many differentways I have to say it to you,
because I say it almost it feelslike almost every week.
Nobody's reacting.
It's a head scratcher for me.

(05:49):
It's a complete head scratcher.
When I made my biggest videoever about the SAVE Act 2.6
million views it had 2.6 millionviews.
People told me I wasoverreacting.
I have a million commentssaying People told me I was

(06:10):
overreacting.
I have a million commentssaying it's just to protect the
voting from illegals.
This proves you wrong.
I wasn't overreacting andthat's your proof.
Project 2025 is the HeritageFoundation's radical blueprint
for the dismantling of federalprotections and consolidating

(06:34):
power.
And it's already happening.
No-transcript.

(06:54):
Executive Order 14183 bannedtransgender military service and
stripped gender-affirming care.
Executive Order 14162 pulledthe US out of the Paris Climate
Agreement.
Executive Order 14224 hasEnglish as the official language

(07:20):
of the US.
Executive Order 14215centralized control over
independent agencies.
And, last week, politicalappointees now control every
federal grant.
At least 31 Project 2025contributors now hold government
posts.
The Department of Education isbeing dismantled.

(07:42):
We've pulled out of the WHO,climate and vaccine research
gutted.
Project 2025 isn't coming.
It's here.
And finally, pete Hegseth.

(08:03):
Again this time he's talkingabout going to civil war over
Confederate monuments.
Those monuments, they werepropaganda, erected to glorify
leaders who fought to keepslavery.
Many went up Darren, jim Crowas intimidation.

(08:24):
If you'd start a civil war overa cement statue, you are not
defending history, you aredeclaring war on your own people
.
And when those words come fromthe Secretary of Defense,
they're not an accident, they'rea warning.
This is not a drill.

(08:47):
This is not a someday problem.
I am not trying to fearmongeryou.
I promise I'm not.
I'm trying to shake you.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
