Welcome back to another episodeof the Unstoppable Mindset
(00:46):
Podcast.
I'm your host, sean Crane.
Thank you, guys for tuning intothe channel.
Hey, if you didn't know, when Iwas 23 years old, I was facing
life in prison for a crime Ididn't commit and I ended up
serving five and a half years inprison.
It was the most profoundexperience of my life and it
changed everything for me.
In fact, it was a blessing indisguise that at the time I
couldn't see, but it hasradically changed my life for
(01:09):
the better ever since.
Today I want to talk to youabout something that happened to
me in prison.
That was very impactful and itcontinues to happen in my life
today.
You know I was sharing withthese guys on my coaching call
this week.
I mentor, you know, hundreds ofmen in my company, unstoppable
365, on mindset fitnessnutrition, and we do a weekly
call, and that day I was talkingto them about how people are
(01:30):
always watching you, whether yourealize it or not, and for me
it's the ultimate motivation andinspiration.
Knowing my children arewatching me, knowing people on
social media are watching me,knowing my team members and
people that work with me arewatching me.
I want to be the best versionof myself so that I can
positively impact them.
I want to inspire you to bebetter each and every day in the
way you live, by how I'm livingand the habits that I
(01:51):
demonstrate.
And it's so important to mebecause I truly care Like I care
so much because I know pain, Iknow suffering, I know struggle
and I know what it's like toalleviate those things in your
life and get to a place whereyou love what you're doing and a
place where you have so muchgratitude and a place where
you're like this is the life Ialways wanted.
I'm the person I always wantedto be.
It's the greatest experiencethat you could ever have, and
(02:13):
I've been on both sides, and somy goal is to find people that
are still in that dark place andbring them into the light.
And I'm just one person, youguys.
I'm not like this special, gifted, different person than
you.
I've just put in the work.
And when I say bringing intothe light, you know I'm doing
God's work.
Everything that I do is anindirect mission that God's put
me on and I'm just followingthat path.
(02:35):
You know, and that's what I didin prison, every day, it was my
conscience, it was my intuition.
I did the work, whether whetherI was scared or doubtful, and
over time it compounded into mebecoming somebody different,
somebody more disciplined, moreconfident, with more belief in
myself, somebody with a visionand a purpose in his life.
(02:55):
And in prison, you know, Imentored a lot of guys and I
spent a lot of time working outwith individuals, having
conversations, playing chess, showing them what books I was
reading, helping a lot of guysget in college courses.
And you know, know, somethingreally impactful happened to me
on my last day of prison.
You know, I was getting readyto leave and suddenly no one
came to get me.
I was sitting there waiting.
I had my prison blues on, I hadmy bag of belongings over my
shoulder, a bunch of books andstuff I'd saved and you know,
(03:18):
paperwork and things like thatand no officers came to get me
and the time in the morning, when people usually leave, came
and went and I was still sittingthere going dude, what's going
on?
Like, come on, this can't behappening.
Like today's my day to get out.
You know, five and a half yearsovercoming so much adversity.
You, you picture that momentgetting out and you wait for it
and anticipate it and you justwant to get back out and be with
(03:38):
your family and be free.
And so, finally, like two hourslater, they came and they're
like Crane, it's time to go.
You know they had had a mix-upor something.
And so they pulled me out ontothe yard and I'm waiting at the
gate to go up to the front ofthe prison, get my new clothes,
my dress-outs they call themstreet clothes and get picked up
by my brother and sister.
And so, as I'm waiting to getlet out, they start releasing
(04:01):
all the buildings to go tobreakfast, to go to chow that
morning, and you don't want tobe on the yard while other
inmates are going to eat thatshitty breakfast, like here.
I am going home, I'm going togo to IHOP, I'm having steak and
eggs, pancakes and milkshake.
I'm getting free, and some ofthese guys are never going home.
Some of them got 25 more yearsto do.
(04:25):
It's just not a good look andit's a respect thing.
You don't want to just besitting there gloating and all
cheerful because you're goinghome and these guys still got
decades to do and I was aware ofthat.
So as they start gettingreleased to walk around the
track and go to the building,I'm like, fuck man, like these
guys are going to be meanmugging me.
You know and it was quite theopposite, you know I started
hearing somebody from thedistance yelling.
And what they were yelling?
They were saying CaptainAmerica, go get him Crane, go
(04:46):
get him bro.
Like get out there and do yourthing.
And in prison they used to callme Captain America because I was
a white guy, I had no tattoos,I had blonde hair and I'd just
be working out all the time andI was super fit and they'd clown
, but in a good way, right, itwas a respect thing, like I kept
my head down, I was focused, Iwas consistent and, you know, I
had the respect of all the otherinmates because of that, and so
I can't tell you how manypeople in that moment yelled
(05:09):
over to me something positiveand encouraging.
These are guys that might notever get out, guys that still
had decades to do in prison, andthey see me going home and
they're like that's right, crane, go out there, man, and make an
impact on the world, do yourthing, you know.
And it was really humbling andit was a really beautiful moment
.
It was like I felt like God wasjust sending me a message man,
like, look all your work thelast five and a half years, like
(05:31):
it's, it's adding up, it'spaying off for you.
Man, sometimes you can't see it.
You guys, you're putting in thework with your kids or you're
doing all this stuff in yourlife, you're grinding in your
business and you can't see thatyou're getting ahead.
You can't see that the resultsare starting to compound.
And all of a sudden, we havethese highlight moments right,
these moments where it's likeall that work that you put in,
(05:51):
you see the effect it's havingin your life.
And that's what this last dayin prison was for me.
I realized that just because Ididn't know these guys or talk
to them, I might see them on theyard and we might like give a
little head nod.
I didn't realize that they werealways watching me and they
were seeing the way I carriedmyself, they were seeing how
consistent I was.
They were seeing the results Iwas getting even in there, and
it gave them a feeling that Iwas going to get out and do
(06:12):
something with my life, like Iwas becoming undeniable right.
And in that moment, man, itjust showed me that people are
always watching you and the mainthing that stands out is your
attitude and your effort.
Every day.
You might not realize it, butthe attitude and effort you put
forth, if it's positive andaligned to your vision and your
goals, dude, you're gettingsomewhere.
You're making waves.
You know you're buildingmomentum, and you might not
always see it and feel it, butit's happening.
(06:34):
And one of the coolest thingsis with other people recognize
it and they say something to you.
They acknowledge who you'rebecoming, they acknowledge the
change you're making, the effortyou're putting forth as humans.
It feels good to get thatpositive feedback and regard
right.
And you know, the craziest thinghappened the other day, as I
was sharing this on a coachingcall, because my son Mason I
shared this in another podcasthe came home from an assessment.
(06:57):
He's getting ready to go to aprivate school and he said Sean,
you know, they asked me towrite about somebody in my life.
That was inspiring.
That I looked up to and I wroteabout you and it was a really
beautiful moment for me.
This is my stepson.
I came into his life at sevenyears old.
I tried and worked relentlesslyto get close to him, to be a
good example and just fatherfigure in his life and it's been
(07:24):
tumultuous journey, right, butright now we're closer than ever
and he confides in me a lot ofstuff.
He's becoming a young man andwhen he said that to me, dude,
it just it brought tears to myeyes.
It made me so happy, and mywife Jessica as well, you know.
And so I was sharing this on thecoaching call with my clients,
because these are men who havechildren, they run businesses,
they're they're in a position ofleadership, and I was just
telling them like people Likepeople are always watching you
guys.
This needs to be the ultimatemotivation for you to get those
results you're after to be thebest version of yourself.
This is why we do it.
You never know who's watchingand how you're going to
(07:45):
positively impact them.
Like you get results in yourlife, you take action.
You might inspire that personthat never even says anything to
you to get sober, to go to thegym, to start their own business
, to be a better person.
Like, we're always having aneffect on people, and I want you
to make sure you're having apositive effect on people, not a
negative one, by the way thatyou treat other people, by the
(08:06):
way that you show up in yourlife.
And so, as I shared this messageon my call earlier this week, I
got off the call and I saw thatI had a notification in
Instagram and it was like thislong written paragraph from this
youngster that I was in prisonwith and he goes hey, sean, I
don't know if you remember me,but we're in prison.
You really helped me.
(08:26):
You helped me to lose a bunchof weight, to start believing in
myself.
You show me what books to readand you really just helped me to
find my path.
And you know, when I got out, Iwas doing good for a little bit
but then I went back to smokingweed.
You know, some stuff happened Acouple of my relationships.
I just lost my way he goes.
Recently I started watchingyour podcast and your content,
man, and you got that fire litin me again.
I just want to thank you foralways being there for me and
being the example.
(08:47):
I was like dude, wow, likehere's this guy I haven't seen
or talked to since we got out ofprison, who I was working out
with and mentoring as ayoungster in prison.
He was doing good and he, he,you know he fell off for a, but
because I've been able to beconstant in the way I show up in
my life and sharing my messageand being transparent and being
a leader and being genuine andbeing authentic, he was able to
(09:08):
tap back into my messages andget it back on track and it was
fucking crazy because I was justtalking about that on my
coaching call with my clients, sharing about that story in the
prison that I was in, where allthose guys you know acknowledged
me as I was going home.
He was in that prison with meand my message on the call that
day was that people are alwayswatching.
And here's this kid who Ihaven't talked to in years.
(09:30):
In five, six years he waswatching and because I've been
constant in who I am, in mymessaging, in my behavior, in my
habits, you know, he was ableto tune back into my podcast and
get inspired, to get back ontrack.
That's what I mean, dude.
There's invisible stuffhappening around you all the
time.
You don't know who's receivingyour messages.
You don't know who's watchingyour behavior.
(09:50):
You don't know who's going tobe impacted or inspired by who
you're becoming.
You got to recognize, man, thatsomething greater is at work
here and we can't always see it,you know, but the main thing is
that people are always watchingyou and they're going to pay
attention to your attitude andyour effort each and every day.
Let that and this message bethe ultimate driver behind your
(10:11):
actions and who you become.
Know that if you do the rightthing for long enough in your
life, if you follow the paththat God has called you to
follow and you give maximumeffort every day and you face
your fears and you go againstthe doubt inside of you and you
don't care what people think ifyou change and you do good in
your life.
You read more books, you learnnew things, you sharpen yourself
with skills, you develop yourphysique, you get sober Like you
(10:33):
become an elite individual.
Dude on that journey towhatever you want in life.
It might be a new business, anew marriage, a new, evolved
version of yourself, whatever itis.
You're going to impact so manypeople, dude, and so much good
is going to come out of thatendeavor, of that effort that
you put forth.
(10:53):
And I just want you to know thatyou're capable, you're made for
more, and other people need tosee that man because they feel
that inside of them too.
And when you take action, yougive them permission to pursue
their dreams, you give them thecourage to go after what they
want in life and not settleTogether.
Man, we can change millions andbillions of lives, but I need
you to step up and be in thisfight with me.
You guys, I love you.
Let's fucking go.
