Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're just numbing
it out and see, that was me for
over a decade of my life whenthings were going bad in my life
.
I was drinking a lot, I wastaking pills, I was smoking weed
every day and it was just toget through the day.
But I didn't grow, I didn'tchange, I didn't mature
Emotionally, I just stayed stuckand I was an adolescent right.
I'm not just here to endure thestressful moments, I'm here to
them.
(00:20):
There's a big difference whenyour frequency elevates.
You go from being a victim inlife to being somebody that
figures shit out.
You become a solution-orientedthinker.
You become a conqueror.
No matter what you're goingthrough, you have the ability to
make a shift in how you seethose events and how you take
action based on those events.
That's the difference betweenwinners and losers.
Welcome back to another episodeof the Unstoppable Mindset
(00:48):
Podcast.
I'm your host, sean Crane, andreal quick.
This is going to be a greatmessage for anybody that's
experiencing stress or has dealtwith stress in their life.
If you're a business owner,entrepreneur, if you're a human
being, you've probably had somestress at some point or another.
Now I want to tell you thiswe're all going to go through
adversity and experience stressand pressure in our lives,
especially if you're growing abusiness, especially if you're
(01:09):
raising kids, especially ifyou're married it's just
inevitable, right?
The way that you react to thosesituations is everything.
You see, I see a lot of guyswho when they're stressed out,
they try to check out, theysmoke some weed, they take a
(01:29):
pill, they go have a drink.
They just want to try to numbthe stress.
That doesn't actually resolvethe issue.
So if you're somebody thatturns to the bottle or a pill or
you have some coping mechanismfor how you process or deal with
stress, you're not actuallydealing with it, you're just
numbing it out.
And see, that was me for over adecade of my life, when things
were going bad in my life.
I was drinking a lot, I wastaking pills, I was smoking weed
every day and it was just toget through the day.
But I didn't grow, I didn'tchange, I didn't mature.
You know, emotionally I juststayed stuck and I was an
(01:52):
adolescent, right.
So when you do that, there's noactual growth that's acquired.
So since coming home fromprison and changing my life,
I've been building a business, Iand young kids, having a family
with my wife, jessica, and it'snot been easy but, dude, I
always am tapped into gratitude,so every day I'm extremely
grateful.
It doesn't mean I'm immune tostressful situations, and if
you're a business owner andyou've gone through stuff
(02:13):
whether it's finances or scalingyour business or building a
team you understand the stressthat comes with that.
If you've raised young childrenand you've had multiple
children we had two back to back, right you understand the
stress that goes into raisingchildren.
I'm somebody that handlesstress very well because of my
life circumstances.
But even me, at certain times Ifeel the effects of external
(02:34):
circumstances in my life andrecently I had a situation that
was stressing me out.
And, dude, I do the same thingevery day.
So I want you to pay attention.
I do the same thing every timeI'm feeling stressed out.
There's two things that I do,and if you do them, I promise
you it's going to help you notonly to get through stressful
times, but to actually learn andgrow through those moments.
There's a big difference.
I'm not just here to endure thestressful moments, I'm here to
(02:55):
thrive and grow through them.
There's a big difference.
In fact, the most growth I'veacquired in my life, the best
learning lessons, where I canactually see myself like develop
and change.
Come in the face of adversity, come in the moments where you're
feeling stressed and you'reunder pressure because you're
forced to think differently, you're forced to pivot.
You got to react, you got toadapt.
That's when you freaking evolve, okay.
(03:16):
And so one thing that I alwaysdo and you probably can relate
to this have you ever got up inthe morning and your mind is
just racing?
Right away you open your eyesand there's something that's
like weighing on you in yourlife.
Maybe it's some financialissues, maybe it's a
relationship thing, whatever itis.
You know, I work with a lot ofbusiness owners.
So in slow times of business, they wake up constantly and
they're just dreading you knowthat slow season in business and
(03:37):
they're worried about therevenue and payroll and all this
stuff, right, and it's it'sexacerbating.
So you know, this has happenedto me many times.
You wake up and you have allthese racing thoughts.
You're negative, you'repessimistic, you have anxiety,
your chest is tight, you're likefuck man, right?
Well, what I do is I get mybutt in the gym.
I get to the gym as quickly asI possibly can because I know in
(03:58):
the gym I can change myfrequency, I can change my
perspective, and what I mean bythat is you go to the gym and
you have, you know, 99 problems, right?
Let's quote Jay-Z, thatfricking weirdo.
So you got 99 problems, right.
You leave the gym and you got99 solutions.
And that's what happens.
You go to the gym, you have allthese racing thoughts, you're
negative, you're pessimistic, you're just exacerbated by these
(04:20):
things.
What happens to me in the gym isI start working out and I take
that masturbated by these things.
What happens to me in the gymis I start working out and I
take that aggression or thatfrustration.
I channel it into every lift, every movement, everything I'm
doing.
I'm lifting heavy weight, I'mpushing myself, I'm setting PRs.
I'm like I'm going to crushthis workout.
I'm going to take all thisangst that I feel and channel
into positive action.
And so In the midst of thatworkout, I'm sweating, I'm
(04:41):
breathing hard and suddenly I'mnot thinking about problems.
Suddenly, I almost actuallystart laughing at myself for
being so upset or irritableearlier in the morning, right.
But what happens is I start tosee solutions to all those
problems because my frequency iselevated.
Right, when your frequencyelevates, you go from being a
victim in life to being somebodythat figures shit out.
You become a solution-orientedthinker, you become a conqueror,
(05:04):
right.
And so that's why the gym issuch a powerful tool, because
nothing else can really createthat type of shift in you that
quickly.
I'm telling you, 30 minutesinto my workout, suddenly I'm
starting to see solutions toevery problem.
I know exactly what I'm goingto do, how I'm going to pivot,
what I'm going to change.
And even if I can't changeanything, look at check this out
, cause there's two ways thatyou deal with stress in life.
Number one you change yourcircumstances so you get away
(05:27):
from the person that's pissingyou off.
You go to the gym and work outwhatever, like I was doing, and
then you find a solution, like athing that you can actually
change.
Or you change your, yourperspective and your attitude
around that situation.
You, you change your emotionalresponse.
So the gym is multifacetedbecause, number one, you come up
with new ideas.
Blood flow to the brain justgetting off your phone, just
being in the moment.
(05:47):
That's conducive to creativethoughts and ideas, okay.
But the second thing is itallows you to shift your
emotional response to thosestressful things in life.
So now you're not feeling likea victim.
You're not exacerbated, you'renot angry, you can almost laugh
at the situation, right, and Ido this all the time.
I start laughing at myself foreven feeling that way.
I'm like, dude, that's trivial, that's silly, like this is how
I'm going to get through it,this is what I'm going to do,
(06:08):
this is the recourse and youknow, in that moment you create
a paradigm shift, and not justthat, dude.
But I started looking at all myproblems and the second thing I
do when I'm stressed out is Istart to thank God for those
situations.
Stressed out is I start tothank God for those situations?
I truly do.
I say thank you, god, forputting these things in my path
(06:30):
so that I can become a betterversion of myself, so I can get
stronger, so I can be moreresourceful, so I can become
just tougher right, so that Ican develop some attributes that
I wouldn't have developed hadyou not put me in the situation
that will serve me in my life.
I always do this.
I thank God.
Dude, what do people talk aboutfrom stage?
The documentaries that youwatch, about celebrities, same
as people, athletes.
(06:50):
What is the story?
What are the movies that youwatch?
It's all about people that havegone through adversity and
didn't quit and give up, and atthe other end of that experience
they have a story to tell.
They have value to providebecause they learn something
through those moments.
They grew into an individualthat they never would have
become.
They morph, they evolve into abetter version of themselves.
(07:11):
That's what I do, man.
When I'm feeling stress, I go tothe gym because it's going to
change my frequency, it's goingto change my mindset.
Then I start to see thingsdifferently and I find solutions
.
I check myself emotionally andI start to feel differently
about the situation andresolutions.
I check myself emotionally andI start to feel differently
about the situation.
And then I thank God for thosemoments because I know that
they're shaping me into a betterman and that's how I've been
able to use adversity and stressand all the things I've gone
(07:33):
through in my life to myadvantage.
And you can actually take thosemoments and turn them into
assets that serve you versusnegative experiences that defeat
you.
But you won't be able to dothat if you're not able to shift
your energy and your paradigmand you're not able to see the
bigger picture of why thosethings are happening to you.
Right, let's quote Ed Milet tocap this one off, right, and I
(07:54):
just totally forgot the quote.
It goes it's not about what'shappening to you.
Like life is happening for you, right, and he says it in a more
eloquent way but life is notwhat's happening to you.
It's about what's happening foryou and it's just like the
person that says I get to youversus I have to.
You have a choice in the wayyou talk to yourself and that
affects the way you see theworld.
The way you see the worldaffects the way that you
(08:14):
emotionally react in yoursubsequent actions.
This is how you take control ofyourself.
This is how you take control ofyour life.
No matter what you're goingthrough, you have the ability to
make a shift in how you seethose events and how you take
action based on those events.
That's the difference betweenwinners and losers.
I want to see you win in thislife.
Let's go, baby.
