Hello, everyone, welcome back to the Get Well Live Well and Thrive podcast. My name is Dana Lyons, and I'm your host. And today I may be all over the place a little bit, I'm going to share some things. We are in the healthy self care series. Just so you know, I, I'm going to be wrapping up this series by the end of July. Right now we're in July 2024. And we have a few weeks left. And we're going to wrap this healthy self care series up at the end of the month. And we're going to go on to other things. And so welcome back, welcome to self care island, we're going to be talking about another part of what I think is required for what I like to call healthy self care. There is, you know, the world's way of doing self care, and it's a lot of self help, and it's all driven by self. But there is another way that I call what I call healthy self care in Christ. It's really the healthy self care series. And that is we do it spiritually, holistically, spirit, soul and body. And it's taking care of our whole selves. And I'm a full believer, we cannot give away what we don't have. And we truly will only love people by the way that we love God and love ourselves. And so often we could either live this life of going to this extreme of laying it all down for other people with not taking very much care, like ignoring our own needs in that, ignoring maybe the rest that we need, not being present in the moment, not keeping our priorities priority. But living a life of like survival mode, just going through the motions, because there's just so much coming at us. We don't feel like we could take time to just go, wait, hold on timeout, I need I do need to refresh because I'm on total depletion. And we just think we could continue to go like the Energizer bunny. But the truth is, even Christ took naps, even Christ went away to be with the Father, he said, Oh, there are all these needs. If you read scripture, he was always bombarded with the crowd. There are always people, if anybody knows what a busy life is, and the needs of so many, it was Christ. And if he could go away to be with the Father and have his own quiet time, so can we, to refresh, to refuel, to take a breather, to get re-energized so that we can go back and do all that he's called us to do, to be all that he called us to be. That's healthy self-care to me. And that's what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about let's bring self, like the self-help into the church. I can hear already a lot of people going, I don't know about that. That sounds pretty self, like self-help Dana, that's new agey. No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about putting, making priorities priority. Because when I talk to so many and none of us are exempt to go, I'm so busy, I don't even have time to read my Bible. I'm so busy. I've got a ton on my plate on Sunday. I don't even have time to go to church. I'm so busy. I haven't prayed all week. And the truth is, I don't know if you've ever heard that, that phrase where it says seven days without prayer makes one week, meaning W-E-A-K, like if we're not refueling and we're not refreshing and keeping our priorities priority, we're not going to live this life very long for this life, very well, very, for very long because none of us are God. We have God in us, but we still live in this imperfect world with these bodies who are, that are continuing to age. And eventually these will die. And as Christians, we get to go to heaven and live with the Lord for eternity, but it's our soul and our spirit go to heaven. We'll get it. We'll get bodies, heavenly bodies that will live forever. But these bodies are breaking down. We call it clutter along the way. We don't have, you know, if Christ had to get away and he could take naps, so do we. And
