Welcome to the seven FigureBuilder Show.
(00:01):
My name is Julie Barick, founderof Seven Figure Builder, where
we help high achieving CEOs freeup time with gorgeous
automations to scale theirbusiness to seven figures and
beyond.
And I'm here today with myfriend Brianna Border.
Hey Brianna.
Hey, thank you so much forhaving me.
I'm excited to chat today.
Yeah, absolutely.
I'm thrilled to have you on.
So for those that haven't hadthe pleasure to meet you yet,
(00:23):
can you tell us just a littlebit about what you do with your
business?
Yes.
Well, again, I'm Brianna.
I am the owner of Brianna'sBusiness Boutique and it is an
online business managementagency where I support
high-achieving femaleentrepreneurs to establish
business.
Sorry to It's all good.
And that's why I tell you wedon't stress.
(00:48):
Yeah.
My name, why don't you startthat, go ahead.
Yeah.
Start that section over.
Go for it.
I'll start from the beginning.
Yeah, well again, my name'sBrianna Bor and I'm the owner of
Brianna's Business Boutique.
I own a online businessmanagement agency where I
support high achieving femaleentrepreneurs to have better
work-life balance with asustainability, scalability, and
(01:10):
systems.
I love it.
And that's so incrediblyimportant.
It's so easy for us, as drivenas we are in our businesses to
get burnout so quickly, and it'sincredibly important just to
have that balance.
So we'll just dive right in.
But what to you are the secretsof, you know, finding that
balance or achieving thatbalance?
(01:30):
Yeah.
I think one of the first thingsis just knowing, you know, where
your time should beintentionally spent.
There's a big difference betweena business owner and A C E O,
right?
And both of us, I think we, wecater to those CEOs, you know,
we really wanna help thosepeople either who are an
established c e o or ha helpthat business owner.
(01:51):
Step into those c e o shoes anda lot of that transition is all
about intentionally spendingyour time.
And you should be spending yourtime on those areas where your
zone of genius is like, where noone else can replicate the work
or the end product that you do.
So I think helping peopleunderstand what that is and what
other things aren't serving themis a big piece to incorporating
(02:13):
more balance into their workday.
So for the people that feel likethey're doing everything in
their business, or maybe theyhave like a VA or you know,
somebody helping them, how canthey figure out what they should
be doing and what they shouldstop doing?
Yeah.
One of the activities that Iactually do with clients, or
that I sometimes do inmasterclass is I have people
(02:33):
actually write down every singlebusiness activity, everything
that goes into running theirbusiness.
Something as simple as you know, posting on social media or
something more intricate likelooking at the financials or
paying your estimated quarterlytaxes, all of those things.
So I have people write downevery single business.
Activity that they do or theirteam does, and kind of write
(02:55):
like their level of enjoymentwith it.
Like, do you enjoy doing this?
How much time does it take you?
And at the end of the activity,we keep narrowing down the list
to the things that they shouldbe doing.
And so it's really goodactivity, number one, just to
see how many different pots yourhands are in.
But also to see like, Whatthings actually motivate you and
that you enjoy doing, cuz thoseshould be the things that you
(03:17):
continue to do.
And you know, let's say forexample, sometimes people say,
oh, I love working on mywebsite.
It's so fun.
But then they realize like theirwebsite is a black hole for
them.
You know, they go in and they'respending 15 hours a week.
Tinkering with their website, that's not really a good use of
your time.
So can we train the VA to dothat?
You know, can we hire someone tocome clean things up every
(03:37):
quarter, whatever that may be.
So I think it's just reallybeing intentional and looking at
where you're spending your time.
Yeah, absolutely.
And I always look at it from theperspective of, as you're
growing your business, you needto grow your team.
And you need to grow your teamwith people that support your
weaknesses.
And so you can focus on yourzone of genius.
And ultimately we only have somuch time in the day.
(03:59):
Right.
And your time is money, likeyour time per hour is way more
expensive than bringing inanother team member or something
like that.
So when you're using your timefor those tasks that ultimately
could be deferred to somebodyelse, you'll become that much
more productive, that much moreprofitable, and it can really
have a huge impact in yourbusiness.
(04:19):
Yeah.
And not to mention just so muchmore fulfilled because you're
doing those things that give youenergy instead of drain your
energy.
And your comment actually mademe think of something like, one
very common misconception Ithink of there is out there is
that business owners think thatthey need to hire their protege.
Yeah.
They're like I want to clonemyself.
I want someone exactly like mein my business.
(04:40):
And actually, The bestrelationships that I've had is
when I've had clients that arethe exact opposite of me.
And they've hired me, who's theexact opposite of them.
You know, you need that personto like balance you out.
You know, you need the dreamerand the doer.
You need the type A and the typeB.
You need that person who's goingto, you know, bring you down.
You know, when you're having allof these, you know, crazy
thoughts.
(05:00):
So I think it is reallyimportant to know that you don't
need to hire you, you need tohire someone to compliment you.
Yeah, for sure.
And that takes a much higherlevel of awareness of yourself,
of what are you good at?
You know, like that exercise yousaid sounds amazing as far as
figuring out what you're goodat, what do you actually enjoy?
What recharges you versus whatdrains you.
And then have people help youwith the things that you hate
(05:21):
and the things that just likesuck the life out of you that
you don't have to do so that youcan really focus on what you
excel at and you know, your truezone of genius.
Right, and so many people, likenumber one thing I was, I hate
finances.
I don't like doing mybookkeeping.
QuickBooks is so scary for me.
Guess what?
There are people out there wholiterally love doing that.
They love doing that.
They're so excited about, theylove looking at your numbers.
(05:44):
They love helping people makegood business decisions.
There are people out there wholove it.
So it's like you can hiresomeone like that who loves
something that you despise.
Can you imagine like the crazyplaces that you can go?
So think about that.
Like not just cuz you hate it,not everyone does and there's
people who help you with that.
Yeah.
And you can recharge your energytogether cuz if they're loving
(06:04):
the things that you hate, instead of it pulling you down,
it's like, oh my god, that'sdone.
And it looks fabulous cuz theyactually enjoy doing it.
Yes.
You definitely grow like astronger appreciation for those
things.
I think too, when you're workingwith people who are really
excited about stuff, you know,I've had.
One of my friends loves theEnneagram.
She just loves it.
And I've turned out to love theEnneagram too because she's so
pumped up and she makes theothers around her excited and
(06:26):
interested in things that sheis.
So it, it's fun to work withpeople like that.
Totally.
Yeah.
Like I totally geek out withautomation and numbers, techy
stuff, and that's my backgroundand what most people get totally
freaked out about, so.
Yeah.
The more you can pull people inthat love what you hate you
know, it makes a better team.
So.
Sorry.
As your as you go through thatwhole experience with people and
(06:50):
they map out, you know, thetasks that they do every day,
what would you say are the onesthat people don't really think
about the most?
Like, what are those most hiddentasks that people, it kind of
comes out in that conversation.
It's like, oh, I never eventhought about that.
Yeah, I mean there's definitelysome tasks that like take way
longer or like I said, kind ofsuck you off into different
areas a lot.
So I'd say something like socialmedia.
(07:11):
People don't even realize thatthey're like on social media for
business or like doing marketresearch.
They think they're justscrolling.
And so that is time spent doingbusiness related things.
So I think social media is thatone thing where people, it's a
really hard gray area to reallydetermine how much.
Time you're spending on thoseapps, unless you specifically
(07:32):
like set.
Parameters on your phone for youto know.
So I think that's one thingwhere people are like, oh my
gosh, I had no idea how muchtime I was spending.
I think another thing thatpeople spend a lot of time on is
like looking for things becausethey don't have things
organized.
So they go to work on a projector they go to reply to somebody
and they can't find what they'relooking for.
And so that is also anotherthing that can help you save a
(07:54):
lot of time is having things, you know, all in a project
management system.
Or organized in Google Drive, whatever that place is for you.
So I think people don't realizehow much time.
They actually need to like rampup to actually do a project and
how much easier it is if youhave everything in the same
place, you know, so you can getstarted easier.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
It's such a time waste and I'mguilty of it myself when I'm
(08:16):
running super, super fast andI'm like, oh, I'll just, you
know, maybe not name it mytypical naming in convention or
whatever the case may be andthen I end up recreating it over
and over cause I can't find whatI was looking for.
So, yeah, totally hear you onthat.
Yeah.
So what does it look like forpeople to work with you?
Like what type of things do youoffer to help people really, you
know, ramp up their business?
Yeah.
(08:37):
So working together looks in afew different ways.
One of them is the onlinebusiness management.
So that is like one-to-onepartnership, deep dive,
long-term strategic engagement.
And so we work together for athree, six, or 12 month.
Period.
Where we just really get to knoweach other.
I really deep dive into yourbusiness.
I help you grow your team.
(08:57):
I help you automate, help youclean up systems, implement the
right things.
That's kind of the most robust, all inclusive package for people
who need short-term support orlike a one-off project.
I offer v i p sessions.
So those are half day.
Experiences where I work hand inhand with someone to give them
that mini transformationgenerally in one particular
(09:18):
area.
So I do a lot of systems, implementations, cleanups launch
planning and things like that.
And then I also do offer 90minute strategy sessions for
CEOs.
So people wanting to kind oftake that next level in their
business, they kind of want aroadmap and a plan of what they
need to do.
We do that exercise that I wastalking about earlier about how
(09:39):
we determine how you're usingyour time kind of your growth
strategy and the future of yourteam planning as well.
Awesome.
And what do you recommend forpeople to avoid burnout in their
business?
Like what is that secret keyhere?
You know, what can people keepin mind?
I think it's the, it's thosemini passion projects.
It's doing those things that arereally exciting to you and not,
(10:00):
are they, you know, they're notalways like a revenue generating
activity.
So for example, this podcast, this is something that's really
fun for me to do.
I love connecting with otherpeople.
I love meeting people.
I love talking.
This is something that, Got meout of bed this morning.
Right.
And so I think if everyone hasthose things, you know, whether
it's meeting up for a localnetworking event in their
(10:22):
community, or it is maybesponsoring another entrepreneur
in the area getting involvedwhatever that is it's that thing
that like, gives you tons ofenergy and I think it's good to
just like not get complacentand, you know, get in that
routine that's the same everyweek.
So having something fun pop upon your calendar, that's kind of
an anchor or something to lookforward to.
(10:44):
That helps me, you know, kind ofstay above the line.
Otherwise if you're just down inthe weeds and working day in,
day out and you don't reallyhave something new or exciting
on the calendar, it can be kindof monotonous.
Yeah.
And the other thing I heard inall the things that you just
mentioned was that humanconnection.
So it's like a surprise elementin your calendar.
Something you're not necessarilydoing on a day-to-day basis, but
(11:05):
really just connecting withother people in a different way
that you don't normally do,which I think, yeah, I find huge
as well.
In this online community.
I mean, yeah, burnout is veryeasy if you are in your home by
yourself doing the same thing.
But yeah, meeting new people youknow, just being kind of bold,
asking people to go out tocoffee, having virtual coffee
(11:25):
chats.
Those are the sort of thingsthat are just like, can let you
up and kind of reinvigorate you.
Yeah.
So I heard that you had afabulous vacation recently, and
how was that able to to happen?
Can you tell us about that?
Yes.
Oh my goodness.
I feel so grateful.
I've been on a few differenttrips this year already, and
they just kind of all stackedreally weird.
(11:46):
So I ended up having two, twoweek vacations, which.
You know, coming from thecorporate world, all of my PT O
would be gone the third month ofthe year.
But as a business owner I reallyembraced it and I, I prepared
myself and my team and myclients and that allowed me to
just, to have very enjoyableexperiences.
(12:07):
So, yeah I just, I wanna talkabout the power of that because
I think it's something thatpeople.
You know, they hate theircorporate jobs and they leave it
and then they start a businessand they feel like they can
never take a day off because theneedle doesn't move forward
unless they're sitting at theircomputer, you know, networking
or building things or whateverthat may be.
(12:29):
And I wanna kind of, you know,Throw that back at people and be
like, you know, that time offwas really helpful.
Like, I came back this weekenergized with new ideas.
I've done tons of journalingwith my time off, and I just
feel like ready to take thatnext step.
But yeah, it's something that, you know, as a new business
owner can feel scary.
(12:49):
But once, once you get in, youkind of have that va, you have
those systems in place you havethat team who knows where to get
things, where to find things.
A very self Sufficient team.
I would say it makes going onvacation just that much easier.
And just knowing that yourclients and things are moving
forward while you are away isthe best feeling in the world.
(13:12):
And I, you know, I contributethat too.
Having the right systems inplace, you know, I got leads in
while I was gone.
I have, you know, new inquiriesin my inbox.
And that's because I've set upthe right systems in my CRMs
that people can contact me andschedule calls while I'm out.
And my team has all the thingsthat they need to be sufficient,
whether I'm here or in a treehouse in Costa Rica where I just
(13:34):
like my team can do their job, which is so amazing and I, I
really trust them in order to dothat.
So, have you had any experienceslike going on vacation or doing
something like that as abusiness owner?
I have.
And the thought that I had asyou're talking about that is one
of the biggest indicators for mepersonally, just in my career
and what I've seen is anindicator of how good of a
(13:57):
leader you are is that you canactually take a step away and
things don't crumple around you.
So for me, that's always myultimate goal.
And I think part of what hasgotten me into automation and
just to love systems andautomation as much as I do, is.
It works while I'm sleeping.
It works while I'm away, when Ineed to step back.
Like things, you know, I alwaysbuild things personally so that
they can work without me.
(14:17):
Yeah.
And so, you know, everything isorganized and it just continues.
And then I can focus my energyin those connections with people
and just those strategic placesthat, you know, I don't have to
do everything all the time.
So, yeah.
That's really awesome.
That's such a good relief.
And yeah, and it allows you tohave that better like.
To create that balance cuz whenyou're gone and if I was working
(14:38):
from that tree house, Thatexperience would've been a lot
different.
You know what I mean?
But I got to wake up and I gotto go to the hot springs and I
got to watch the birds in themorning and I got to do all of
these things and I didn't haveto worry about like things
crumbling while I was gone.
I love that analogy that yousaid.
So, I've said before like, oh,you wanna know if you have a
strong team, go on a random oneweek vacation and see how things
(14:59):
are when you get back.
Yeah.
And if things are still standingstrong, you know that you have a
great team that you know thatyou have.
Things in the right place, people can find them and that
your team is trained well.
So that's a really strongindicator.
For sure and it recharges yourbatteries, which I think is
huge.
Like we're talking aboutburnout, it's just so easy to
have the life drained out of youand what you're doing every
single day.
(15:19):
And it's so important to takethat step back.
And you know, I always joke thatlike the, one of the benefits of
working remotely is you can workfrom anywhere.
And one of the drawbacks ofworking remotely is you can work
from anywhere.
So like you have to find thatbalance.
And I'm guilty of it myself, but.
You know, you have to find thatbalance and be able to step away
(15:40):
and take a breather and rechargeand then come back and have a
new perspective.
Yeah.
You have, I mean, just fromsimple things like enjoying
nature and just watching howlife operates I've had so many
takeaways.
One of them was like, onvacation day seems so long.
Right.
You know?
Because you have, you do so manydifferent things, whereas at
home days feel short because youwake up, you drink your coffee,
(16:02):
you have your breakfast, youwork.
Workout, dinner, sleep.
It's kind of the same routine, and I've noticed like how much
more you can pack into a daywhen you're doing more.
And so I was just like, gosh, like just adding in these little
bits of joy into my day.
Like, let's see how long we canmake days feel and like how
fulfilling they can be.
Because the day today, like itgets very ordinary and it's, it
(16:23):
you really see the value oflike, You know, when I'm sitting
here at home, I'm like, oh, Ihave a call in 30 minutes.
I'm just gonna scroll on TikTok,you know?
But on vacation, you're like,oh, I have to be somewhere in 30
minutes.
Let's go to the pool.
You know, like, let's go dosomething.
Yeah.
And so that kind of perspective,I've brought home with me too,
of just like 30 minutes you canactually get a lock done, you
know?
In that time.
Don't think, don't just waste itaway.
(16:45):
For sure that and you'reincorporating things that are so
much more memorable into yourday.
Obviously when we're onvacation, it's different than
when we're working.
But like you mentioned, youknow, when we're working in a
day, we're just doing thosethings one after another that we
don't really take the time tobreathe, to often go for a walk
to like, whatever it is to breakyour day up.
That actually will make it morememorable and feel more
(17:05):
impactful than just doing thegrind and then go to sleep and
wake up and do it again.
Right.
And then they just all tend toblur together and all before you
know, it, years have gone by andyou didn't take that vacation,
you know?
Yeah.
Life doesn't stop.
So, yeah I think that's, I.
Just a great takeaway is like,go on vacation.
Let your team, like give themthat ownership people your team
(17:27):
wants to have ownership ofthings.
They wanna feel impactful andpurposeful.
And so if you give them thatrole of like, Hey, you're in
charge while I'm out, you know, don't, you know, don't let any
anything, it's crazy happen.
They'll take that ownership, theright people will.
And so that was just a greatfeeling while I was out.
So, wanna inspire other peopleto build up that as well so they
can go enjoy themselves gowherever they've dreamed of.
(17:50):
I love it.
I love it.
So, tying in with that, and asyou look over your business, how
would you define success?
Like, what does that look liketo you?
Yeah, that's so different foreverybody.
Success for me is a sense ofpurpose in someone's lives.
So knowing that I'm making animpact in my client's lives,
(18:11):
getting that feedback of like,oh, you've saved me 10 hours
this week.
Or, you know, this automation'singenious.
I used to, you know, do thismanually every day.
That to me is like, Success.
It is just getting that feedbackthat what I'm doing is right and
it's helping other people.
And yeah, that, that's whatmakes me feel fulfilled.
Like there's nothing else.
(18:32):
There's no money or anythingelse in the world that can make
me feel that way.
Although of course, you know, all of that are nice.
It, that wouldn't matter to meif I didn't feel a sense of
purpose and belonging in, in arole that I had.
I love it.
Yeah.
And it's so much more fulfillingwhen you're driving success off
of helping people and making animpact on other people's lives
(18:55):
versus chasing a number.
Because that number changes,right?
Like as soon as you hit onelevel, it pushes to the next
level and the next level.
And before you know it, you'rejust chasing endlessly.
So I love that, just that humanconnection again.
Which is really cool.
Yes, definitely.
So, looking over the year ahead, what can people expect from you
next?
What do you have upcoming?
(19:15):
Yes.
I kind of mentioned earlier theEnneagram of how I fell in love
with it.
So myself and my friend Casey, who is an Enneagram coach, we
are actually doing a masterclassin May.
And we're super excited aboutit.
It's all about like discoveringyour inner entrepreneur.
And we're gonna do that byunderstanding our Enneagrams
more, and we're going to bringthat into play with a lot of
(19:37):
different business things likegrowth mindset, hiring the right
people to compliment youdepending on what number you
are.
How to find like the right typesof clients and work based on
like what your core motivatorsare.
And I am just so excited becauselike I told you, my friend's
obsessed with Enneagram.
Now I'm obsessed with theEnneagram and so I wanna make
everyone else obsessed with theEnneagram and really use that as
(20:00):
a tool to help them grow theirbusiness.
And that number can really helpyou feel purposeful and it can
really help you feel like, youknow, that you're doing the
right business tasks cuz thosethings are fulfilling you.
So I'm really excited to sharethat with everybody.
Awesome.
And for anyone who's not heardof that before, can you just
tell us a little bit more aboutthe new Graham.
Yes.
(20:20):
So, people who haven't heardabout it and it actually is like
a Christian based likepersonality.
Quiz, but it is it's based ondifferent numbers.
And so everyone is actually, youare born with your number and
it's up to really you for todiscover it.
And so this number kind ofexplains like the way that you
think, what you're motivated bywhat you act like when you're in
(20:43):
growth.
What you act like when you'reyou know, maybe stagnant.
And it all has to do with likeintercommunication with other,
all the other numbers.
And so learning about it hasbeen amazing.
I've done a session with myselfand my husband and it helped us,
you know, create this.
Deeper understanding for why youmay act one way or way why I
might not like something.
(21:03):
It really just helps you feelvery validated in the ways that
you feel.
So for anyone listening, I am anEnneagram one, which literally
describes me to a t If you ifyou know me personally, because
it's the Enneagram one is calledthe Moral Perfectionist.
You are Yeah, you have this likerelentless inner critic that's
(21:24):
always trying to critique thingsand make them better, which
actually explains why I loveworking in systems and projects.
Cause I like, I want to makethem optimized and I wanna make
them work for the people thatneed to use them.
So it makes, you know, totalsense based on, you know, the
things that I experience in myeveryday life.
So it's great for relationshipsfor like work environment for.
(21:44):
Just knowing, you know, whatmotivates you and makes you feel
fulfilled.
And so I'm so excited to, youknow, share this with other
people.
You can take a free quiz onlineto know what your number is.
And then obviously there's justso much learning that can be
done once you know what yournumber is after that.
So, so cool.
Yeah.
That seems like.
My, my logical brain says a lotto figure out based off a
(22:07):
number.
But it's really just learningyour communication styles, like
what drives you, what's behindthe, you know, the things that
motivate you and everythingabout your personality.
So the more we can learn aboutourselves, I think helps us all
the way around, like youmentioned, interpersonally with
relationships with business, like they all tie together.
So that's really cool and Ican't wait to see that.
Yeah, it just, yeah, it makesyou have a deeper appreciation
(22:30):
for other people.
Cause I think a lot of timesother people can be
misunderstood, right?
Like, why, like even with inyour marriage or in your, with
your best friend, it's like, whywould you do that?
Or something like that.
And then you realize like, ohyeah, that's right.
It's because You know, it'sbecause of this number that
drives you and that this is justthe way that you are.
And it just allows you to likeappreciate things more and
(22:52):
understand that not everyone'smind works like yours does.
And so I think it's gonna be sohelpful for people, whether
you're starting in business oryou've been in business a long
time and you're like reallyready to put, you know, the
pedal to the metal and likebuild a team and you wanna build
it with the right people thatare gonna compliment you.
Awesome.
So how can people sign up forthat?
Where can listeners find youonline and support you in your
(23:13):
work?
Yeah, so registration's notavailable quite yet.
It will be in the next few weekshere.
But they can follow me onInstagram.
I'll be talking about it a lotthere.
So on Instagram, it's atBrianna's Business Boutique.
And you can find me there.
I will be posting all about, youknow, the masterclass and kind
of giving some teaser and Youcan also watch some
(23:34):
conversations that Casey and Iare gonna have live as well
leading up to it.
So I hope that everyone attendsand it's helpful and we'll
definitely do more of these inthe future.
Awesome.
And we'll have all the linksbelow so everybody can check it
out.
Perfect.
And if you had the attention ofthe whole world for five
minutes, what would you say tothem?
(23:54):
Wow.
That is like such a pedestal tobe on.
Like, I have so many things Iwanna say to the world.
I would say that don't takethings too personally.
I think the world right now isin a place where I.
Like everyone feels victimizedby certain things that people do
or certain things that peoplesay or how people act.
(24:15):
And it's not making the world abetter place because there's a
lot of like victims out there.
So I think if you realize thatpeople in this world are all in
their own head and all in theirown world, and they all have
different motivations You'llrealize that people don't do
things like to you or for youor, you know, and nothing is
(24:36):
intentional like that.
And so I think if we, I'll takethis step and like step back and
be like, okay, this person isn'tdoing things to attack me.
Or if someone says something,it's not to demoralize me.
And we have that big head on ourshoulders that allows us to walk
through life.
I think the world Would be a lotbetter right now.
So it's something I've beenworking on not taking things
(24:56):
personally and it can help in somany different areas,
relationships, workingrelationships, things like that.
And so it's something that I'veseen the benefits of, and I
think other people should workon as well.
That's awesome.
So powerful.
And yeah, what I'm hearing isdon't take it personally and
assume a good intent that we allhave so many things happening on
our lives that, you know, nobodyknows about and don't make those
(25:20):
snap judgements.
So thank you.
I really appreciate that.
Definitely.
