Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy New Year's,
guys, and welcome back to a new
season of Shades of Tone.
It's the one and only ToneMotivates, and I hope you guys
are doing great out there, because your girl is doing
wonderful.
I actually just had a beautifulbaby girl and we are doing well
(00:21):
.
Mommy and baby are resting andtaking off time as needed, not
feeling guilty about it and justdoing what I want.
Okay, so let's jump right intoit.
Today, we are going to betalking about manifesting growth
and setting intentional goalsfor a fulfilling year.
(00:42):
And setting intentional goalsfor a fulfilling year Now, in
the words of the beautiful, thegreat, the queen, oprah Winfrey.
She says be thankful for whatyou have.
You'll end up having even more.
If you concentrate on what youdon't have, you will never have
enough.
(01:03):
So, with that being said, Ithink it's very important for us
to know that sometimes we don'thave to just focus on the end
result.
We want to take those babysteps to get there, so we can
start small.
And let's say, for instance, you struggle with drinking water
every day.
I know plenty of people thathate drinking water.
Now, instead of thinking, oh myGod, I got to drink a gallon a
day.
What am I going to do.
Start small.
Make it a goal to drink abottle of water before noon each
(01:27):
day, and then add to that a16.9 bottle will total a little
over 48 gallons at the end ofthe year, and that is great.
That's almost a gallon a week,okay.
So little steps will get youthere.
So I would like to know whenwas the last time you set a goal
that truly lift you up?
I mean, it sparked flames foryou.
(01:50):
Fire, okay, firecrackers.
All of that Was it connected tosomething you deeply value?
I personally can work on a goalfor months and fall off
completely.
So I try to be consistentlyintentional, for instance, with
working out.
Going to the gym isn't for meand I'm likely to quit just
(02:14):
because I have to go to said gym.
So I work out at home and usethe trail behind my house.
This way, I don't have as manyexcuses.
That's a good one, right?
So let's chat about the powerof intention.
So intention versus genericgoal setting Setting a goal
without intention is likehopping in your car with no
destination.
(02:34):
You'll drive in circles, burnfuel and end up frustrated, not
to say that that's not good.
Sometimes.
Just hop in a car and be out,you know, go wherever the wind
may take you, but on a regular, daily basis.
Is that very conducive to whatwe want to do?
I didn't think so.
So goals grounded in values andvision are more sustainable.
(02:55):
Think of one thing you want toachieve this year.
Now ask yourself why, if it'sjust because I should scratch it
and dig deeper, why does ittruly matter to you?
Next, we should practicepractical ways to align goals
with values.
Step one identify your corevalues.
(03:15):
Think of your values as yourpersonal GPS.
Would you rather have cleardirections or keep asking
strangers for help?
And we know sometimes strangerswill take you in circles.
Okay, like you know, you justcame off of that block and they
tell you to go back there.
So now it's time for a littleprompty.
Prompt you ready, grab a penand jot down three words that
describe what's most importantto you right now.
(03:38):
Right now.
Right now, Is it freedom?
Is it freedom, creativity, security, whatever it is?
Write it down.
The next step is to visualizeyour ideal year.
Let's try a quick guidedvisualization exercise.
Close your eyes, of course notwhile driving Beep, beep.
(03:59):
Imagine it's December 31st.
What are you most proud of?
What did you achieve that feelsdeeply fulfilling.
Think about that.
Next, let's create values drivenwith goals.
For example, if you valuecreativity, a fulfilling goal
(04:24):
might be starting a blog, designing a product or taking an
art class, not just landing apromotion that stifles your
creativity.
I got another prompt for you.
You already know prompt promptMatch a core value with one bold
goal for a year.
Again, match a core value withone bold goal for the year.
(04:51):
So, for example, value equalsadventure.
Goal equals travel to one newcountry or across your country
solo, and I must tell you, traveling by yourself.
It could be a little nervewracking at first, but it was
one of the most liberatingthings I could have ever did a
couple years ago.
Next, let's chat about barriersand breakthroughs.
Let's discuss some commonroadblocks, for example, fear of
(05:14):
failure, overthinkingperfectionism.
With fear of failure, it couldprevent you from taking a
calculated risk Withoverthinking, it can talk you
out of something you want to doand perfectionism can prevent
you from taking a calculatedrisk.
With overthinking, it can talkyou out of something you want to
do and perfectionism canprevent you from starting or
doing something all together.
I once spent weeks designingthe perfect planner instead of
(05:39):
actually planning anything.
I've also created programs andnever published them
transparency moment.
So I come up with mantras likeprogress over perfection, a
messy start beats no start.
So you know I got anotherchallenge for you right.
What's one small action you cantake today toward your goal?
(06:01):
Share with me.
I want to cheer you on.
I hope you guys are having agreat year so far.
Make sure that you apply all ofthese tips to this week and
join us back next week as wedive in to more stuff, and the
next episode will be aboutbreaking barriers.
(06:23):
As always, guys always love.
