Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up motives?
It's the one and only ToneMotivate.
Back with another episode ofShades of Tone, and today we're
going to be celebratingdiversity and wellness,
different paths toself-discovery.
So you know, I got to hit youwith a quotey quote.
So we need to give each otherthe space to grow, to be
(00:21):
ourselves, to exercise ourdiversity.
We need to give each otherspace so that we may both give
and receive such beautifulthings such as ideas, openness,
dignity, joy, healing andinclusion.
And that's from Challycom.
So let's hop right into it.
(00:44):
Let's chat about the beauty ofdiversity and wellness.
I remember a time when I thoughtwellness had a
one-size-fits-all approach Earlymorning runs, green smoothies,
yoga and meditation.
But as I explored differentpaths, I realized that wellness
can look completely differentfor each of us, and that's the
beauty of it.
Today we're celebratingdiversity and wellness.
(01:08):
We'll explore how there arecountless paths to
self-discovery and that eachperson's journey to health,
balance and well-being can lookunique.
In a world that often pushesthe best way to achieve wellness
, it's important to recognizeand celebrate the different ways
we can find our own balance.
Wellness is about discoveringwhat works for you, not what
(01:32):
works for someone else.
So let's define wellness.
What does wellness mean?
Well, wellness isn't just aboutbeing physically fit.
It's about your mental, emotional, spiritual and social
health, and it looks differentfor everyone.
What makes one person feelbalanced might not work for
(01:54):
someone else.
For me, I used to thinkwellness was all about hitting
the gym every day, but I quicklyrealized that wasn't
sustainable for my lifestyle ormy mental health.
I knew I had to become moreactive, but I realized I was
more likely to work out at homethan leave my home to do it.
I also realized over time thatjournaling, long walks and
(02:18):
creative expression were just asimportant as physical exercise
for my well-being.
Reflect on your own definitionof wellness.
When you think about wellness, what comes to mind?
Is it something you feel youshould be doing, or does it
align with what truly brings youpeace and balance?
There's no one right way to bewell.
(02:40):
Your path to wellness is asunique as you are and it might
change over time as you grow andevolve.
Let's explore different wellnesspractices.
There are so many differentways to practice wellness, from
traditional approaches like yogaand meditation to alternative
paths like sound healing, creative expression or even
(03:02):
spending time in nature.
I want to highlight culturaldiversity and wellness.
Wellness practices also varyacross cultures.
For example, a verveticmedicine from India emphasizes
balance through diet, herbs andmeditation, while indigenous
healing practices might focus onconnecting with the earth and
(03:24):
community rituals.
Each culture brings its ownwisdom to the idea of wellness.
Reflect on any cultural orfamily traditions you've seen or
practiced that contribute toyour wellness.
Are there wellness traditionsfrom your culture or family that
you practice or appreciate?
How do they help you feelgrounded?
Or a family that you practiceor appreciate?
How do they help you feelgrounded?
(03:48):
I myself was introduced tomindfulness through a friend who
had a TV station.
Shout out to Tori and Deed andVibe to Vibe TV.
The vibe is always real and shehad a guest, nene Grace, and
she encouraged me to dospiritual activities to
influence wellness and, eventhough it was different from
(04:08):
anything I tried before, itbecame a key part of my wellness
routine.
Let's talk about self-discoverythrough wellness practices.
Wellness practices are oftenabout more than just physical
health.
They can also be a path toself-discovery.
When you explore different waysto take care of your mind and
(04:31):
body, you start learning moreabout yourself.
Practices like yoga or tai chiaren't just about movement.
They're about connecting yourmind and body, helping you tune
into your inner world and findclarity For me.
I always wrote poetry, songsand such, but journaling became
a tool for self-reflection.
I started to understandpatterns in my thoughts and
emotions which helped me realizewhat was truly important to me.
(04:55):
I even go back to the date theyear before to reflect on where
I was mentally this time of yearbefore, and it's instant
gratification seeing my growthin writing.
I encourage you to think abouta wellness practice that helps
you learn more about yourself.
Has there been a time when awellness practice helped you
(05:17):
gain a deeper understanding ofyourself or your needs?
What did that look like for you?
Break away from the wellnesstrend pressure.
In today's world, wellness hasbecome a trend and sometimes it
can feel like there's pressuresto follow the latest fad,
whether it's a new diet, aworkout plan or self-care
(05:37):
routine.
But true wellness isn't aboutfollowing trends.
It's about finding what worksfor you.
I remember jumping on thelatest exercise bundle trend as
an affiliate, only to feel morestressed about keeping up with
it than actually feeling well, being a product of the product
for my audience and strugglingto keep up.
(05:58):
It took me a while to realizethat wellness isn't something
you copy from others.
It's something you create foryourself.
We need to break the comparison.
We also need to stop comparingour wellness journeys to others.
Just because a certain practiceworks for someone else doesn't
mean it's right for you.
Wellness is very deeplypersonal.
(06:19):
Reflect on whether you feltpressured to follow certain
wellness trends.
Have you ever felt like you hadto try a certain wellness
practice because it seemed likeeveryone else was doing it?
How did that make you feel youneed to discover what works for
you.
Part of celebrating diversityand wellness is giving yourself
(06:42):
the freedom to experiment.
Part of celebrating diversityand wellness is giving yourself
the freedom to experiment.
Try new things, exploredifferent practices and see what
resonates with you.
Maybe you'll love meditation,or maybe you'll find that
dancing is what really bringsyou joy.
Find joy in the process.
Wellness isn't about reaching afinal destination.
(07:03):
It's about enjoying the journey.
There's no rush to get it right.
The goal is to discover whathelps you feel balanced, healthy
and connected to yourself.
I never thought I enjoymeditation or being in solitude,
but when I startedintentionally giving myself
space in alone time, my thoughtsand feelings were more obvious.
(07:27):
It became a key part of myemotional wellness.
I challenge you to try a newwellness practice this week,
whether it's a meditation app, acreative project or even just a
nature walk.
Experiment with something thatsparks your curiosity.
Walk, experiment with somethingthat sparks your curiosity.
(07:48):
The importance of inclusivityand wellness.
Wellness should be accessibleto everyone, regardless of
background, body type or ability.
We need to create spaces thatcelebrate inclusivity, where all
people feel welcome to exploretheir own path to wellness.
Let's break down thesestereotypes.
There's often a stereotypeabout what wellness looks like,
(08:16):
but true wellness doesn't have aspecific look.
It's not about having theperfect body or following the
latest trend.
It's about finding what makesyou feel good in your own skin.
I invite you to think about howyou can make your own wellness
journey more inclusive.
What can you do to make yourwellness journey more inclusive,
whether it's being kind toyourself about where you're at
or inviting others to explorewellness practices with you?
How can you celebrate diversityin your approach?
(08:40):
I, for one, started embracing amore inclusive mindset around
wellness by letting go of theidea that I had to look or act a
certain way to be healthy.
It opened up new ways for me tofeel good in my body and my
mind.
So let's recap Today wecelebrated the diversity and
(09:00):
wellness, how different paths toself-discovery, from cultural
practice to modern approaches, can help us find our unique
balance.
Remember, there's no one sizefits all when it comes to
wellness.
What works for one person mightnot work for you, and that's
okay.
The goal is to find your ownpath and honor what makes you
(09:22):
feel good.
The beauty of wellness is thatit's a lifelong journey.
As you grow, change and evolve,so will your practices.
Stay open, stay curious and, most importantly, stay true to
yourself.
This week, celebrate thediversity in your own wellness
journey, try something new, reflect on what's worked for you
(09:47):
and, most importantly, honoryour unique path to
self-discovery and balance.
We'd love to hear from you, asalways, always love.
