Hey Motives, welcome
back to Shades of Tone, where we
dive deep into self-reflection,growth and, today, creativity.
Yep, today we're exploring howcreativity is not just for
artists, but for everyone.
Whether you're Picasso with apaintbrush or more of a stick
(00:22):
figures only kind of a person, creativity is your secret weapon
for wellness andself-expression.
And, let's be honest, whodoesn't want to live their most
creative, authentic life?
Grab your metaphoricalpaintbrush, folks.
It's time to create, all right.
So let's start with the basics.
(00:44):
Why is creativity so essentialfor our mental, emotional and
even physical well-being?
Well, think of creativity asyour brain's way of taking a
deep breath.
It gives you a break from theday-to-day grind and lets your
mind play a little Plus.
When we create, whether it'sthrough writing, painting or
(01:04):
even baking, we tap into partsof ourselves that we might not
even know existed.
Talk about a wellness jackpot.
Cha-ching, cha-ching.
When was the last time youtried something you've been
wanting to try?
What's holding you back?
I challenge you to trysomething new this week.
Send us a message and let usknow how it went Now.
(01:27):

(01:49):
Now, personally, I find that Ican paint for hours without the
slightest care for my phone ortime.
I also reflect on old journalentries and see how far I've
come, which is really cool.
Simply put, journaling ordoodling have a calming effect
on the mind.
And let's be real, sometimessmashing colors onto a canvas is
(02:11):
just more fun than talkingabout your feelings for the
millionth time.
Therapy's cool.
Yeah, I know I am one, but sois finger painting.
So creativity for thenon-creative, all right.
So I can already hear some ofyou saying but I'm not creative,
I can barely draw a straightline.
(02:32):
Well, spoiler alert, creativityhas nothing to do with being a
good artist.
It's about expressing yourselfin whatever way feels authentic
to you.
The goal isn't perfection, it'splayfulness.
You don't need to be a poet towrite down your thoughts, and
you don't need to be a dancer tomove your body in a way that
feels good.
Think of creativity like amuscle the more you use it, the
(02:56):
stronger it gets.
Now everyone can be creative ineveryday life, from taking a
new rope home to trying out newrecipes.
We often limit creativity bythinking it's only for the
talented.
But we're all talented in ourown ways and creativity,
regardless of what it is to you,is the one most authentic
(03:18):
things you can do.
Creativity is a mindset, not anoutcome.
If you've ever solved a problem, daydreamed or told a funny
story, you've already tappedinto your creative side.
Let's talk about creativeoutlets.
Some people are all about thebrush and canvas, but others
(03:38):
might find their creative flowin unexpected places.
So I've rounded up a few quirky, fun and maybe slightly unusual
creative outlets for you toexplore.
Who knows, you might just findyour next passion project.
So the first one is writing.
From journaling to poetry oreven making up short stories,
(03:59):
writing is one of the simplestways to express yourself.
You don't need to write thenext bestseller, Just start with
a single sentence.
Music you don't have to beMozart, tupac or Biggie Ever.
Try banging on random objectsto make a beat or singing your
(04:19):
heart out in the shower.
Music is a powerful way to tapinto emotions.
Photography Get out your phone, take a walk and capture the
little things that catch youreye.
It's not about filters.
It's about seeing the world ina new way Movement and dance.
(04:40):
Whether you're a graceful swanor a failing octopus.
Guilty dance is a great way toexpress joy, frustration or just
shake off stress.
Cooking and baking Expressingyourself through food is an
underrated art form.
Play with flavors, try a newrecipe or make your favorite
(05:02):
childhood dish with a twist.
Who knew food could be creativetherapy?
I have hundreds of recipes I'vebeen saving over the years on
my Facebook page and a lot ofthem have become staples, and my
food pantry is now burstingwith different spices and herbs
ready for the next new meal.
I once tried to express myselfthrough interpretive dance.
(05:24):
It turned into an impromptuworkout.
But hey, creativity and cardio.
I lost a couple pounds, huh.
Now here's the cool part whenyou tap into your creative side,
you're not just making stuff, you're discovering yourself.
Every time you write, paint orcreate something new, you're
unlocking a little piece of yourauthentic self.
(05:47):
It's like leaving breadcrumbsfor your soul to follow.
Plus, the more you create, themore you realize how much you've
been holding back.
Spoiler, you're capable of waymore than you think.
Did you know?
Creativity can help peopleprocess emotions, gain new
(06:08):
perspectives and reflect ontheir life journey.
For example, writing in ajournal might reveal thoughts or
feelings you didn't know youhad.
Creativity is an ongoingjourney.
No need to rush or judgeyourself.
The more you embrace it, themore you grow.
I, for instance, never knew Ienjoyed painting until starting
(06:29):
a project with my best friend.
In addition, as a child I lovedto read and draw.
It was an outlet for me, butwith becoming a parent and life
happening, it got away from me.
I didn't realize until about 10years ago that a part of me was
hidden and came back as Istarted to write, read more and
(06:49):
be around people that brought mycreativity out more.
Tone Motivates was then bornTa-da.
Now let's get real.
Creativity isn't always pretty.
Sometimes it's messy, chaoticand confusing, and that's
exactly why it's so powerful.
The beauty of creativity isthat it doesn't have to be
(07:10):
perfect.
In fact, it's better when it'snot.
Remember we're expressing ourauthentic selves here, not
trying to win an art contest.
So let's, if your creativeproject turns into a glorious
mess, embrace it.
That's where the magic happens.
I'm Forun, am a complete,organized mess, and I've learned
to love it.
Now please know that it is okayto embrace failure or
(07:32):
imperfections in the creativeprocess.
Creativity is about freedom,not control.
Experiment, try new things andlet go of expectations.
Remember that even failedprojects can lead to new
discoveries.
Creativity isn't about makingit pretty, it's about making it
real.
So here's the takeawayCreativity is your superpower.
(07:59):
It's the key to expressing yourauthentic self and improving
your overall wellness.
And the best part, there's noright or wrong way to do it,
whether you're finger painting, journaling or freestyle dancing
in your living room, just let itflow.
Give yourself permission tocreate, explore and, most
(08:20):
importantly, enjoy the process.
As always.
Thanks for tuning in to Shadesof Tone Today, where we're
always growing, always creatingand always embracing our
beautifully messy, authenticselves.
Until next time, keep creatingand let your light shine and if
all else fails, fingerprint yourfeelings.
(08:41):
Trust me, it works, as always, always love.
