Speaker 1 (00:16):
Good morning.
Good morning, it is Thursday,I'm Shelley and I am back.
Y'all, this is going to be areally, really good one.
They're all good, so just aquick thank you to everybody
who's watching.
If you're on Facebook, don'tforget to like and share the
video out so we can get it tomore folks.
So, thank you Facebook, thankyou all the prayer groups, thank

(00:38):
you LinkedIn folks on YouTubeand on Twitter, and a special
shout out to those watching onBraydeck TV live.
Yeah, we made it to anotherThursday.
Hello, michael Rossi, today isgoing to be a good one.
This one today is going to bemore thought provoking, or maybe
you know just the way that weuse some words and we're going

(01:01):
to talk about YOLO and just forsome context, I'm before I
actually go into Lord.
We just thank you for anotheropportunity to come before you
and share your word and reachyour people, and I'm afraid that
you are glorified and they'llcome to know you and that the
Holy Spirit is demonstrated andthey will come to see you and
not me.
In Jesus name, amen, gotta, start there.
So I was on a.

(01:23):
I was leading a panel earlierthis week called Faith at Work,
and one of the things that Ishared.
I was, I was, I was actuallythinking about, and I was asking
the Lord why some, why somepeople are so hesitant, really
hesitant, about living a life asa believer, right as, as you

(01:46):
know, as a Christian or Jesusfollower, or whatever the title
people are going with nowadays, and so we're.
I was sharing about YOLO.
Yolo we I think we all knowwhat YOLO stands for it's you
only live once, and so I wantedto dig in deeper about how our
perception and the way that weapproach things in this life
impacts what we actually do.

(02:08):
So I went into Bible study, Icreated about it and, as you can
see in the kind of the themeand some of the notes that I
dropped in the description oftoday's topic, I talk about YOLO
because it's really encouragingyou to live your life to the
fullest, because you only haveone life, but it's it's really
associated with anything that'syou know we can do whatever and

(02:32):
don't worry about any negativeconsequences.
And where it becomescomplicated is the Bible, on the
other hand, is encouraging youto live life to the fullest, but
in a way that's guided by moralintegrity and responsibility
and not just doing whatever, andso I really wanted to dig into
hello.
I really wanted to dig into how, you know how, especially as we

(02:57):
, as we talk about YOLO andmaking the most out of this life
, it's not forgetting that, youknow, this life is actually
short, but but death is forever.
There's an eternal life and soso, so I'm going to go into
Romans one and I'm going toshare my screen, so don't worry
about it if you don't have.
Yes, exactly, solish realm, andwe live, yeah, we live in by

(03:21):
the spirit.
Thank you, of course.
So we're on multi-streams.
I can't see everybody who'sjoining, but I will try to grab
your comment if I can see itquick enough.
So I'm going to present myscreen.
I want to get us to Romans 1.
I use the ESV version becauseit's simpler and that's my lane.

(03:42):
So, romans 1, esv version, andI just highlighted some things
in here I thought was reallygood to share.
So, again, romans 1, esvversion, and I'm not going to
read the whole thing, I'm justgoing to pull some of the verses
through.
Please go back and read theentire chapter.
I tell everybody all the timedon't take my word for it.

(04:02):
Go back into the word.
Ask the Holy Spirit to revealit to you, ask for the spirit of
wisdom and understanding.
He will tell you the same thingI'm telling you, so you don't
think I'm making stuff up.
So in verse 11, I love how thisactually starts this is a letter
from Paul and he's saying for Ilong to see you and this is

(04:23):
kind of the way that I'm comingto you guys I long to see you
that I may impart to you somespiritual gift to strengthen you
.
So the intention is, as we'resharing these teachings, as I'm
sharing you, what the Lord isgiving me is to strengthen you
and your walk in me as well, sothat we're mutually encouraged
by each other's faith, yours andmine, right?
So I'm not here preaching toteach, or preaching to condemn,

(04:47):
or preaching to judge oranything like that.
It's for us to be mutuallyencouraged, because this walk is
hard, really, really hard.
And then, as he says, I don'twant you to be unaware of some
of the things that, like you, Iwant to reap the harvest of all
the blessings that the Lord hasset aside for me.

(05:08):
So, that said, in verse 16, ittalks about not being ashamed of
the gospel and I'm going toround this up a little bit but
from not ashamed of the gospel, for it's the power of God for
salvation to everyone whobelieves, to the Jew first, and
also to the Greeks.
So the gospel is for everybody, and righteousness God is
revealed from faith for faith, and we think about from faith to

(05:33):
faith.
This is a journey.
So, as we're talking about YOLOand again, christians say it,
believers say it, nonbelieverssay it, we all say this thing,
but I think the intention is todo, we know what we're saying.
So we come down into verse 18.
It talks about the wrath of Godbeing revealed from heaven

(05:54):
against all ungodliness andunrighteousness, and why, for
what can be known about God isplain to them because God has
shown it.
Like y'all, we know that thereare consequences to our actions.
We know we can't just YOLOthrough everything, because we
do understand there areconsequences to things that we
do.
But, quite frankly, as I washaving this conversation with

(06:18):
the Holy Spirit, I was like whyis it so hard?
Or why do we fall into thisidea that we could just do
whatever, say whatever, livewhatever, eat whatever, and not
think about the consequences?
Because most of the times we'refocused on this side of life,
we're focused on the 80, 90years we have on this side of

(06:39):
life.
Most people aren't thinkingabout the eternal life, like
what happens after you leave.
They're not OK.
So part of the consequences isthat we tend to do things or say
things or put ourselves inplaces that end up dishonoring
God.
Right, so verse 24, it saystherefore, God gave them up in

(07:01):
the lusts of their hearts toimpurity, to the disonning of
their bodies among themselves, because it's changed the truth
about God for a lie and worshipand serve creature rather than
Creator, who is blessed forever.
So that and again I want you togo back in the rest of it.
I pulled out another sectionand since they did not see fit

(07:22):
to acknowledge God, he gave themup.
Literally, he will give you up.
God is not going to fight you,beg you, chase you.
He's not doing that.
So people, you know that end upbeing filled, and you can see,
filled with evil and malice andenvy and murder and all of these
things.
Gossips, you know, don't thinkyou can, you know, yolo your way
through a gossip and takepeople down and there's no

(07:43):
consequence to that behavior, orslanderers, or insulin and all
these things, right, disobedientto our parents, you know, even
if you've got.
You know, you have thatparental situation where you're
thinking y'all should never havebeen parents, even in that it's
.
That's something that you haveto think about how you are

(08:05):
approaching this life, thedecisions that you're making.
So, so, romans one.
So now I'm going to share.
I had some other notes.
I'm going to stop sharing realquick because I had I had
exactly exactly.
I'm just checking the chatsharpen iron, chase the one.
Yeah.
So here's where you got to bevery careful with when the Lord

(08:25):
says, when the word is talkingabout chasing you because it's
not chasing you like you'regoing to keep sinning and he's
going to come after you.
What he's saying is you are allof us are all important to the
Lord, but the Holy Spirit is notgoing to force you, beg you,
chase you down for you to comein.
It is.
It is you under his authority, not him under your authority,

(08:50):
not you do whatever you want andthink that that's just going to
.
You know, because God isrighteous, god is spirit.
He's not, he's not going tojust keep chasing you, right?
He's not going to keep chasingyou.
So, wherever you follow thatscripture, what he's saying is
that God knows your heart, godknows what's on your mind, he

(09:12):
knows your soul.
But if you think about it thisway, if you continue to do
things that are outside of whathe's telling you, if you
continue to dishonor God, he'snot going to chase you.
So I don't know where that camefrom, but go back and read the
full context of the of thescripture.
Okay, so, all right.
So a couple more things.
When I was looking into YOLOand I was I was trying to

(09:35):
understand the differentdefinitions.
So Cambridge Dictionarybasically mainly set us on
social media.
Again, you know where we alllive, that you're meant to do
things that are enjoyable andexciting, even if they're silly
or slightly dangerous.
Dictionarycom, you know, talkedabout our ability that we use
this to rationalize impulsive orreckless behavior, and so they

(09:59):
had some crazy examples.
Like I bought those expensiveshoes up and I can't afford it.
Yolo like okay, that's a thing,that's not a thing.
But a four of the dangers ofYOLO that I want to just share
with you guys is the first thingis that you end up, you know,
you end up ignoring theconsequences of your behavior.
If you literally, if you'reliterally in that mindset that

(10:21):
you know, well, I just, I onlylive once and I'm only focused
on what's happening in the now.
You ignore the con, you end upignoring the consequences
because you're just focused onthat impulsive behavior.
The second thing is that you doactually dishonor God because
if you are a believer and Ithink most of y'all are you
understand that there are still.

(10:43):
There's still expectations thatGod is not a God.
He's not a God of chaos orcraziness.
Right, there's order involvedin things.
So, even in decisions that I'mmaking about my life, like my
job, sometimes it's like what amI gonna wear Coming to this,
coming to this call?
There is worship.
Before I get here, to make surethat what I share with you is

(11:03):
what, literally, the Holy Spiritwants me to say honoring Him in
the way that I treat peoplearound me, whether I like Him or
not.
Right, you have to.
You know, you have to.
You have to.
You know.
Think about how you're honoringGod, how you honor God in your
finances, how you honor God withyou know, the business people
you do business with and thingslike that.
So, honoring God always.

(11:25):
The third thing that is a dangerof Yolo is you end up
worshiping and serving creationand not our Creator.
Right, you end up worshiping, literally putting people on
pedestal, or worshiping thingsthat are not of God, things that
are created, not our Creator.
Right, people talk about theuniverse all the time and I

(11:45):
always say I, I, I worship theCreator of the universe.
That's like me saying I'mworshiping Georgia or Atlanta.
No right, so it's, it's being, you know, being mindful of that.
You're not serving materialthings, you're not serving
creation.
And then the last danger is notunderstanding that death is

(12:06):
actually eternal.
So we're here for 80, 90 yearsor so bless us, maybe 100 of
that, you know, if that, that's,that's what we get in this life
, but death is eternal.
And because we we don't thinkabout that, we think about, you
know, what I can get out of thislife today.
Then then we end up, you know, kind of going down the wrong way
.
So, yellow, you know you onlylive once.

(12:30):
That you know, again, be mindfulof what you say, when you say
it, understanding that there areconsequences behind that.
You know, go back in Romans oneand you know, read the entire
chapter and first, if you havequestions about the Lord chasing
you, again go back into theword, because there are

(12:51):
consequences even with that, thinking that you can't just do
whatever you want and then hejust can keep chasing you.
No, please go back into theword and really study that,
because even in Romans one, hetells you literally in this
chapter that I just showed you, that the word says that he will

(13:11):
give you over to your, to the,to the, to the mindset.
He will give you over meaninghe's not, he gave them up in the
lust of their heart, toimpurity.
He will literally give you up,right.
So?
So go back and make sure thatyou read the word.
So that's what we had Today wasa bing bang, boom.

(13:32):
Like I said, it was mainly.
I wanted something that wasthoughtful, as we're saying, you
know what we're doing with ourlives and we're using some of
these terms.
So I'm going to close withprayer right now.
So, lord, we just thank youagain for another opportunity to
come on and share your word andencouraging your people to go
and learn more about you, notwhat the world says about you,

(13:55):
but what you say about you.
And we just thank you foreverybody who's under the sound
of my voice, whether they'rewatching the live or the replay.
And, lord, I especially want topray for those who've been
impacted this week with job lossor health issues, with
financial issues.
We just thank you, lord, god, that you're still a father that
provides, and for those who arethose of us who are in a season

(14:18):
of having to trust you when wecan't see the day before us, we
can't see our way out, but, lord, that you will demonstrate your
love for us and provide for us.
Forgive us, lord, god.
Forgive us for all of our sinsand iniquities and twisting or
anything that we've done totwist or muddy the word or
anything.
Lord, we ask that you will giveus the spirit of wisdom to

(14:41):
understand, understand what yourwords mean.
And, lord, help us to love oneanother and really live out the
life that you've called us tolive, and just bless everybody
under the sound of my voice, andI pray that they will continue
to see your grace and your mercy, lord, god.
Thank you so much, lord, inJesus' name.
Amen Y'all.

(15:01):
That's what I had Ding bang,boom.
We talked about yellow.
I will be back here nextThursday.
Please go out and have awonderful day.
Be kind to somebody else.
You don't know what's going onin people's lives.
Don't be judgmental.
Be kind to folks and have awonderful, blessed Thursday.
