Speaker 2 (00:33):
Together, we'll avoid
burnout and step into being the
smartest, wealthiest styliststhat we can be.
Hello, I'm so excited aboutthis week.
This week is going to be allabout social media, and I know,
as hairstylists, we have beencatapulted into a whole part of
the industry that I don't thinkany of us were really ready for.
So you know now that socialmedia is one of our main forms
(00:54):
of, you know, advertising andputting ourselves out there and
marketing and figuring out whowe are as hairstylists and
giving a perceived message toour clients, saying this is who
we are.
This is what I do.
What do you think?
You know it's it's become apivotal moment and a pivotal
tool in being a hairstylist.
(01:16):
I don't think any of usanticipated this, but here we
are.
So the very first thing I wantto do is I want to do an
experiment with my own socialmedia, and I thought it would be
kind of fun if we could all doit together.
So, um, for this social mediaexperiment, I want to see how
(01:36):
far we can grow our accountstogether.
Like, I took probably about sixmonths off, um, and just kind
of let everything quiet down, and then, now that I'm back in
full force, I really want toexperiment with this and see, by
using the tools that I'velearned, what we can do to grow
our accounts.
So, in the social mediaexperiment, um, I'm going to be
(01:59):
using, uh, certain captionstructures, uh, real structures,
carousel structures, calls toaction for lead captures, and
then also creating a freebie andexploring other forms of social
media.
So I started, um doing videowith my podcast.
That way I can put it onYouTube.
And, um, I have a tripod set upto where I can also use it for
(02:25):
Instagram or Facebook orwhatever by creating reels.
So there's so many differentthings that you can do while
you're doing social media thatyou can repurpose.
That way, you're making thevery most of your time and you
know, repurposing content isreally a time saver and by
saving a lot of your captionsand your notes and stuff, you
(02:46):
can go back and steal stuff fromthose captions.
So, um, for the social mediaexperiment, I want to see what
our analytics are right now andif you don't have a business
Instagram page, I would highlysuggest doing that just to kind
of, um, make sure that yourclients know who you are.
You can always post somepersonal stuff on there showing
who you are as a person.
(03:07):
But having a separate businessaccount is really important.
That way, um, you can kind ofkeep things separated.
And then it also helps becausewhenever you have a business
page, you can separate it outand actually look at your
analytics to know what reels didwell, what posted well, you
know which one was speaking toyour ideal client the most, um,
(03:29):
and then you can also go as farto see, if you can, um, did you
get any clients from that reelor from that carousel or
whatever?
So the very first thing I wantto go over is caption structure.
So whenever you make yourcaptions, it's not good enough
to just be like look at thisbombshell blonde link in the DM
(03:50):
to book, like the very firstline.
You want it to be a hook line, which is something really
exciting.
So like, if you did this reallybeautiful blonde transformation
, you could put on there likeand say you're really good at
doing hair fast and it's reallyblonde and there's no damage, or
whatever.
So you could put on there thisblonde bombshell only took me
(04:11):
two hours, read below to see howI did it and then go into
detail on how you did it, whatproducts you're using, tag those
manufacturers in that post andthen at the end you would put um
, click the link in my bio tobook.
Having your um, instagram andFacebook and all those things
set up for success is reallyimportant too.
(04:33):
So whenever people go to yourbio, they see that little link,
they click it and it takes themright to your booking page.
Having everything streamlinedthe the more, the less clicking,
the better.
People are fickle when it comesto how long it takes them to go
through the process of bookingwith you.
So if you have your page set upto where you can literally just
(04:55):
like, click the link and bedone, that's even better.
So with your caption structure, like I said, you want to hook,
you want the details and thenyou want a direct instruction at
the end on how they can bookwith you.
Okay, so moving on to realstructure.
So whenever you do reels, youcreate a video, and it can be a
(05:18):
variety of things.
You can actually be showing howyou do something.
You can be showing behind thescenes.
You can be showing mixing color.
You know, you know what reelsare, you've watched them, you
understand, you know the varioustypes that you can do.
But some neat little tricks isyou can use a trending sound to
help you get more visibility andon your trending sound it'll be
(05:39):
have a little arrow going upand then you want to find one
that has less than 10,000 usesbut it is trending.
That way you get on the frontend of that.
So if it does blow up, itreally projects your video out
there.
The second thing is you can hidekeywords on the screen.
So whenever you go to put thetext on the screen, like you can
type blonding, drag it down tothe corner off the screen and
(05:59):
then type balayage, then typeJoplin hairstylist, then type
you know all these differentkeywords about what your video
is about and drag them down tothe bottom and hide them.
And then on the actual videothe text should be something
eye-catching.
It's like your hook line, right, because people want to see
that video and you only havelike two seconds to make an
impression on someone to want towatch the rest of your video.
(06:21):
So if you have just ainteresting title or something
that really grabs theirattention, like I said earlier,
you know, for your captionstructure you could say um, this
blonding, this whole bondingsession took only two hours or
whatever.
Whatever that is, people aregoing to go oh my gosh, I'm
usually in my stylist chair forliterally 45 minutes, so doing
(06:44):
something like that really grabstheir attention.
And then you can reiterate thatin the caption below on the
reel itself.
And the next one's going to becarousel structure.
It's the same thing, that firstcarousel post, which, when I
say carousel, it's the samething that first carousel post,
which, when I say carousel, it'sthe one where it's just a bunch
of pictures that you swipethrough.
So on that very first carouselpost, you're going to want that
(07:05):
to be your hook, yourinteresting thing, something
that grabs their attention.
Um, and then, as you go through, you would, um, do maybe a
step-by-step tutorial, or youcould do step-by-step how you
accomplish something.
So if you're also a haireducator, you could be putting
on there.
You know, if you're a coloreducator, you could be putting
(07:26):
on there exactly how you didthis to grow your social media,
or you did this to reach thiscolor result, or whatever.
And then at the end, you'restill going to want to do a call
to action.
So, whether you're doing when inall of your captions, whether
you're doing a reel, a carousel, anything, you want to make sure
(07:47):
that you're giving the peoplewhat they want at the end of it
so that they know what to donext, just leaving it open-ended
saying, wow, isn't this abeautiful bombshell blonde?
Let me know what you think.
Like that's okay, but youreally want to give them.
Like, what is it that you'rewanting from them?
If you're an educator, are youwanting them to buy your course?
If you're a hairstylist, areyou wanting them to book an
(08:09):
appointment with you?
You know, whatever it is thatyou want them to do, you have to
make it crystal clear at theend to say this is how you do
this.
This is where you click and youcan even go so far to use an app
called mini chat.
When you use that, you can puton there type, you know, a heart
emoji.
Or you can put on there typebook and I'll send you the link
(08:32):
to book and it will actuallyautomatically send it right to
their DMs, which is so nice, because if you're wanting more
time with your family and lesstime, you know doing the
business side of things, that'sa fantastic option.
To just say, hey, type book nowand I'll send you the link to
book and it literally sends itright into their inbox, so
(08:52):
that's also a really cool option, but I can't say it clear
enough.
Make sure that your link inyour bio everything is set up to
make it super, super simple soyou know at the end.
If you're wanting people tobook with you, just make sure
you're saying, um, click thelink in my bio to book, and when
(09:12):
those people click that link,it should take them directly to
your booking page.
Or if you're an educator andyou're wanting them to purchase
your course or you're wantingthem to learn more, you just
make sure that you say click thelink in my bio or type course
and I'll send it directly to you.
So setting up systems andmaking sure that everything is
in place is really, reallyimportant.
(09:35):
Something else that's reallygreat for lead captures and when
I say lead captures, this ispeople's emails, this is
people's contact information.
This is so that whenever youcan do email marketing, whenever
you're running sales in yourbusiness, when you're doing
retail products, when you're,you know, going to be hosting a
class, or if you're going to betrying to find a model for a
(09:57):
certain, or if you're going tobe trying to find a model for a
certain color class that you'refixing to do, having leads is an
amazing tool.
Email marketing is still one ofthe very best things that a
business can do to grow theirbusiness.
So, doing all of this, you cancapture those leads and then
further go from there and rampup your business even more.
(10:19):
So making sure that you have away to reach those people and
tell them this is what I'm about.
This is what I'm doing.
I want to show you the sale I'mdoing.
I wanna show you these productspecials.
I wanna show you my holidaycolor specials.
Whatever it is, email marketingis still an awesome tool and
whenever you have those leads, you can then offer them a
(10:40):
freebie.
People love free stuff.
I don't think it lessens you asa stylist if you're offering
something free, but you can givethem a free curling tutorial,
or you can give them, you know, free color analysis If they're a
new client.
You can do online bookingconsultations.
There's so many differentthings that you can do for these
people that they absolutelylove and just already builds a
(11:01):
level of trust with themwhenever you do that.
So some other forms of socialmedia that are really important.
You know there's a lot ofpeople that are getting sick of
Instagram and there's a lot ofpeople that aren't even on
Facebook.
You know a whole youngergeneration and there's a lot of
people that aren't even onFacebook.
You know a whole youngergeneration.
So, making sure that you stayrelevant and kind of um, going
(11:25):
outside the traditional socialmedia, like looking at YouTube
and Pinterest and Tik TOK thosethree things are amazing and I
know Tik TOK may potentially beshut down, but anything you're
posting on Tik TOK I know TikTokmay potentially be shut down,
but anything you're posting onTikTok try to make them go back
to your Instagram page or try toget them to go back to your
YouTube page, but making surethat you have several different
(11:46):
things in place.
And then, like I said, repurposing your content.
Like right now I'm creating avideo I'm recording on Instagram
and I'm going to reuse all ofthis content and I'm creating a
podcast.
So my podcast will be posted toall my podcast platforms.
My podcast video that I'mrecording right now will be put
(12:10):
onto YouTube and then I willrepurpose tons of this Instagram
content that I'm creating on myphone for Instagram and for
TikTok.
So all of this, all of thiscontent will be reused and it
just cuts down on creation time, because nobody has time, like
(12:33):
I'm a full time mom, a full time, you know, hairstylist, and I'm
also on the education side.
So between all of those things,I mean it's really busy, and
not only that, like I'mgardening and I'm training my
yearling full.
So I'm a busy girl, and themore that I can utilize a single
moment of time, the better forme.
(12:53):
So, um, but yeah, so, to wrapthis up, I do want to try and
see if we can all do this tick, this, uh, social media
experiment together.
Um so step, we need to make surethat our Instagrams are set up
to where they are easy forpeople to access.
Do you have a clear bookinglink?
(13:13):
Second, I want to make surethat you're using your caption
structure.
You know.
Make sure you have your hook, the information and a clear call
to action at the end.
Real structure, it's the samething.
Make sure that you have aninteresting title, hide what
you're doing in the comments, ordrag it down to the side and
then have your engaging captionbelow and then carousel same
(13:37):
thing.
That very first picture isgonna be your hook, and then
explanations after that, andthen just make so.
Having a clear call to actionand a lead capture at the end is
very important as well.
Um, think about offering afreebie and then also making
sure that you're using otherforms of social media, not just
Instagram.
Repurposing your content andsharing it on multiple platforms
(14:00):
is an amazing thing to do.
So, um, I hope this is a nicelittle short, quick to the point
.
Get you what you need to kindof get you started on using your
social media to really work foryou and not against you.
I know it's hard to really setthe time aside to do those
things.
Oh, and one other thing isbatching content.
(14:23):
Batching content is really agreat tool because I can sit
down in a two hour time span ona Sunday and, you know, really
focus on making sure I haveenough content to get what I
need.
You can kind of get a contentplanner and sort of just go okay
, this week I'm going to do this, this and this.
This week I'm going to do this, this and this, and then, when
you have a vague outline of whatyou're wanting to do, then you
(14:46):
can get all of your content thatyou need to get for the week,
and it just gives you anopportunity to have, like, it
all wrote down.
It's a lot more organized andthen, like I said, I would use
multiple types of recordings.
You can do YouTube, you can doInstagram, you can use multiple
cameras and you know videothings and all the things and
(15:09):
get all of that content and thenreuse it across all of the
platforms.
So, making sure that you aremaximizing your time reusing
content really will, and likehaving that batch time, gives
you so much more control andthen you're not having to worry
about posting all the time, because you've already had this
(15:30):
batch content, you've scheduledit to post and then it just
posts on its own.
So, yes, you do have to set thetime aside in like a batch time
, but you don't have to justpost every single day and get
content every single day, because when I do that, I don't
post.
I don't want to just post everysingle day and get content
every single day, because when Ido that I don't post.
I don't want to take the timeto do that.
So by batch creating content,it makes it much more appealing
(15:52):
to me and I get it done and thenit's over for the week and then
your dream clients just startshowing up.
So, um, I'm excited to do thissocial media experiment and um,
so, if you have a business page,I want you to go into your
Instagram business page and lookat the insights and then look
and see where your engagementrates are, screenshot it and
(16:13):
then at the end of 30 days,we'll go back in and screenshot
it again and see if it'simproved.
So I'm excited to do this andlet's see how it goes for all of
us.
And um, next week is going to beall on time freedom, which I am
all about maximizing my time.
Um, I love my time behind thechair, but my family comes first
(16:36):
, and so time freedom is mynumber one thing.
I take eight weeks off a yearand I'm still a six figure
stylist, even though I take allthat time off um to enjoy time
with my family.
So, anyway, that one.
I'm very passionate aboutsocial media.
I hate social media.
I do not enjoy it, but I knowit's a pivotal part of who I am
(16:58):
as a hairstylist and what I canhelp you guys with, as well as a
hairstylist educator.
So, anyway, I will talk to youguys next week and um, I'm
excited to dive into this.
So I'll see you guys later.
